• liquid CSS issues - rtl, floating and scrollers

  hi I want to build a site that will have these restrictions: RTL direction vertical scroll on the right side whole page is floating to the right page has 2 columns the right (main) column has min width the right (main) column has table inside it that can expend in its data and get wider making all other data in the column expend to the same width as well the sidebar should be on the left side but still floating to the right of the main div it should fit low resolution so the page will be able to add horizontal scroll if needed should work in all major browsers don't use table for constructing the page Can someone help or direct me? • loading HTML fragments with jQuery

  Hi everybody, I'm very new to jQuery, Ajax and things like these. I've found solutions on how to inject HTML fragments into my site: $(document).ready(function(){ $('a').click(openContent); //binding all anchors to this function }); function openContent(){ var path = $(this).attr('href'); $('#content').load(path); return false; //to prevent browser from loading the single HTML fragment } That works really fine! The problem is, these function won't be executed when clicking on anchors located in the new HTML fragment which were injected right before. So the fragment won't get injected into div, the browser will only load the fragment for itself. Hope there are solutions which aren't that tricky... thanks sam

• Program skips code after trying to parse XML in VB.NET

  I'm trying to parse some XML (html) I downloaded using WebRequest.Create() and then read it. However after loading the XML file using LoadXml(string), anything else I execute doesn't work. Setting a breakpoint on anything afterwards doesn't work and it doesn't break. I tried catching exception but none are occurring, so I'm not sure what the problem is. • Toggle a CSS selector using JQuery

  I am trying to toggle the display of a CSS selector (ie.to show/hide it) using JQuery. I successfully toggled the display of a div, but want to do this now with the CSS selector :after. The CSS selector is being used to create the arrow on the box. • jquery fadeout, load, fadein

  Hi, I am using JQuery and what I want to happen is. Div fades out using the fadeOut command. It then loads content from a url using the load command. Then once content loaded it fades back in using the fadeIn command. The code I have is: $("#myDiv").fadeOut().load('www.someurl.com').fadeIn() However this does not work. It kind of flashes then loads out then loads in. I think the problem is that the fading is happening before the load is complete. What should I do Thanks

  Hello, I'm learning JQuery and am about to write some pages using intensively that library. I just learned that some user disable javascript on their browser (I didn't even know that was possible and/or necessary). Now, here's my question: What happens to my web application if a user disable Javascript? For instance, I'd like to display some screens using Ajax and commands such as 'InsertBefore' to bring in live a DIV that will display the result. So, if Javascript is disabled, I wonder what going to happen to all this work that relies on Javascript? I'm kind of lost. Thanks for helping

• iui transition moving in wrong direction

  i am using iUI to build a native looking web app for iDevices. whenever i click a link with an href of #something that leads to another div on my page, the transition effect moves (correctly) as if the page were sliding in from the right like it does on any other iDevice app. a portion of my app requires an indefinite number of sub pages though, so i generate them on the fly, assign them and id, and set the window location to something like myip/mobile/#_newdiv. this causes the transition effect to move in the wrong direction though (as if the page were sliding in from the LEFT, opposite native iDevices). is there any way to fix this?

• StackOverflow Site Layout Problem in Chrome

  I was cleaning up one of my questions here and noticed that Stack Overflow's comments were overflowing into the right column in Chrome. The question is, what's the difference in CSS handling between Chrome and Firefox. I don't have access to Safari, Opera, et al. Can someone tell me in which browsers the error manifests? Is it just me? Here's the layout error: (my apologies to Tim Down for covering up his name with my comment bubble) Since I have no natural skill for good layouts and the whole process makes me sad, I wonder if someone can diagnose the error on StackOverflow and make a recommendation on how to avoid it. Is this a consequence of embedding a div inside a td? Plus I admit it. It's fun to point out an error on one of the greatest sites ever.

• Dynamically loading CSS and JavaScript using Prototype

  I have a classic ASP application that I've been constantly trying to modularize. Currently, almost all pages are divided in to two pages: an outer page that contains the layout, header, sidebar, footer an inner page that contains ASP code The outer pages use dreamweaver templates so updating layout and replicating changes is easy. The inner pages are managed by me. Now here is the problem: I had to add a lightbox to one page, I chose Lightbox 2 which requires Prototype. I ended up adding Prototype on every page, assuming that sooner or later I'll upgrade all pages, forms, ajax requests and other javascript to use Prototype. I've now added two other plugins -- Modalbox and Protofade; each with a pair of .JS and .CSS files. Since I'll be using these three plugins on specific set of pages I am wondering if I can load the required CSS and JS files dynamically. I do not want to access the document head and add include files there, I'll have to do this from inside a DIV where all ASP code is supposed to go.

• jPlayer problem in Firefox - also throws error from jQuery?! Not related to OGG support.

  I've been working on a small SVG website, http://docroot.ca/ - the SVG part has been working out pretty well. In the current site, jPlayer is called and given an mp3. jPlayer functions properly in Safari, Chrome, and Opera, but not Firefox which throws the following two errors: Error: not well-formed Source File: Line: 1, Column: 191 Source Code: <div xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"><embed name="jqjp_flash_0" id="jqjp_flash_0" src="js/Jplayer.swf" width="0" height="0" bgcolor="#ffffff" quality="high" FlashVars="id=jPlayerBox&fid=jqjp_flash_0&vol=80" allowScriptAccess="always" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer" /></ and: Error: uncaught exception: [Exception... • jQuery Cycle plugin: One pager to control multiple slideshow on a page

  Hi there, I have a cycle plugin set up on a page (images) with a pager to control the horizontal slide. My issue is that there is a transparent overlay that needs to sit over part of the images for some text relating to each image but would rather have that with a different transition effect for this so it doesn't slide in from the left. Am I able to set up to slideshows, each with 3 pieces of related content, that I can position correctly and have them controlled with the one pager? • jquery js how to avoid massive onmouseover onmouseout firing

  i have a table with some columns. in each of them is a picture where i have a onmouseover onmouseout event on it, which show a message in a div and hide the msg. my problem is - after a user goes quick from left to right (and moving) over a lot o images. all mouseover/out events of the images where executed, which looks stupid... is it possible to rearrange the internal event stack to avoid this? so that he executes only the current (mostly the first event) - and than the last one, if it is not same type eg. if mouseover over first image is executed and mouse moving position stops over an image 3times next the first one. i can avoid all other events firing, because the mouse stopped over an image and the mouseover is like the one where i stopped with the mouse. how can i avoid this multiple event firing?!

• jQuery Sortable + Droppable z-index problem

  I am having a probelm with the z-index of my sortable object not being above my droppable. If you visit http://clareshilland.unknowndomain.co.uk/. Press Ctrl + L to bring up the login screen. Enter the username clare and the password shilland. It will then load in the admin bar and if you click manage gallery. A pop down thumbnail view will appear with all the photos from that gallery. The issue is that when you drag the 'polaroids' from the grid to the delete area they are under the delete area. I tried putting the delete area inside the same div as the grid but it makes no difference, I just don't know what to do at this point so any help would be a massive help!

• AutoCompleteExtender positioning menu incorrectly when scrolled

  We have an AutoCompleteExtender linked to a TextBox. Both controls are placed inside an UpdatePanel, and the UpdatePanel is displayed as a pop-up dialog using a Javascript library (Ext.BasicDialog). The pop-up is a div on the page, not a separate window. The problem is that when the user scrolls inside the pop-up, the AutoCompleteExtender shows its menu in the wrong place. It looks like it is taking the visible distance from the top of the popup and positioning the menu from the top of the inner html of the popup (which is not visible) We are using Version 1.0.20229.20821 of the AjaxControlToolkit, and we are targetting ASP.NET Framework vewrsion 2.0. • jquery - loose click() event after ajax call ???

  At the following webpage liamharding.com/pgi.php I have an option panel on the left side of the page which opens and close's upon clicking the panels 'arrow', this works fine until you select a market (for testing use one of the 'Random Walk' markets and click 'Show/Refesh Graphs'), this then makes an ajax call using get_graph(forexName, myCount, divIsNew) function. Once this call is completed a graph(s) is displayed and then my options panels click() event does not work? The ajax call returns the data in a variable ajax_data, the problem happens when I perform the following code var jq_ajax_data = $("<div/>").html(ajax_data); . I need to wrap it in a so I can extract data from it using jQuery. If this line of code is commented out the click() event works fine ?? Hope somebody can help, I have spent a lot of time but cant find what the problem is.

• To what point is making an HTML page valid worth it?

  Since a long time ago, when I found out about the W3C Validator, I made sure every HTML document I made was valid HTML. However, I think sometimes it just isn't necessary to waste time making it valid. Of course, for actual Internet pages may be important, but is making pages on an Intranet, or even little front-ends that are used with other programs, when the HTML page renders correctly in the most used browsers (not necessarily counting IE 6 and 7). I think I'm mostly talking about little improvements over code, such as wrapping every shown element of the page on <p> or <div> tags.

• How do I include 2 tables in one LocalStorage item?

  I've got a table that you can edit, and I've got a simple code saving that list when you're done with editing it. (the tables have the contenteditable on) The problem I've stumbled upon is that if I double click on enter, the table gets divided into two separate tables with the same ID. This causes the code I'm using to set the localStorage to only store one of the tables (I assume the first).. I've thought of different solutions and I wonder if someone could point out the pro's and con's (if the solutions even works that is). Make a loop that checks the page after tables and stores them into an array of localStorage-items.. I'd have to dynamically create a localStorage item for each table. Take the whole div that the tables are in, and store that in the localStorage, when a user revisits the page, the page checks after the items in storage and displays the whole divs. Any suggestions you have that can beat this :).. (but no cache, it has to be with the localStorage!) Thanks
