  • Using a .delay() function before .css() manipulation in jQuery

    - by Fabian
I have this: var $ul = $(this).children("ul"); $ul.animate({opacity: 0}, 1000); $ul.delay(1000).css("display", "none") It's for my dropdown menu, and I want it to fade off before it disappears using the display: none; CSS property. However it appears that the .delay() cannot be used on the .css(); it doesn't work, the $ul just disappears right away. I can't use $ul.animate({opacity: 0, display: "none"}, 1000); either.

  • Issue in alternate Row color using each() method of JQuery

    - by user1323981
    I have a table as under <table > <tr> <th scope="col">EmpId</th><th scope="col">EmpName</th> </tr> <tr> <td>1</td><td>ABC</td> </tr> <tr> <td>2</td><td>DEF</td> </tr> </table> I want to set the alternate row color of only the "td" elements of the table and not "th" by using only each() function. I have tried with <style type="text/css"> tr.even { background-color: green; } tr.odd { background-color: yellow; } </style> $(document).ready(function () { $('table > tbody').each(function () { $('tr:odd', this).addClass('odd').removeClass('even'); $('tr:even', this).addClass('even').removeClass('odd'); }); }); Though this works but it accepts also "th" element. How to avoid that? Please help Thanks

  • jQuery finding 'nth-child' value

    - by Rich
Hi, I have a ul set up as navigation, which I'll be animating on hover. As all the nav items are different widths, I'll be storing their default widths in an Array, so that on hover out, these widths can be passed back in to the animate method. What I need is a way to find what 'nth-child' the element is in order to retrieve the correct width from the array. Something like: var count = $(this).count(); //obviously this isn't right! So that then I can do: $(this).animate({'width':array(count)}, 400); Any suggestions would help me a lot - and if there's a better way to do this kind of thing I'd gladly accept pointers!

  • Sliding through divs at interval - jQuery

    - by phil
Hey, I have a list of around 30 divs (see below.) and would like to hear any suggestions on the best way to rotate through them by sliding in one at the top and removing one from the bottom at a set time. Something like every 5-10 seconds. Also even though there are 30 on the page I would only like to show a list of 10 and have the rest show as mentioned. A great example would be www.foursquare.com and their recent activity section. I would like to do the same except with a predetermined amount of divs instead of real-time using ajax. Any suggestions or a bit of help pointing me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated. <div class="recent-questions"> <div class="recent-question"></div> <div class="recent-question"></div> <div class="recent-question"></div> <div class="recent-question"></div> <div class="recent-question"></div> <div class="recent-question"></div> <div class="recent-question"></div> <div class="recent-question"></div> <div class="recent-question"></div> <div class="recent-question"></div> <div class="recent-question"></div> <div class="recent-question"></div> <div class="recent-question"></div> <div class="recent-question"></div> <div class="recent-question"></div> <div class="recent-question"></div> <div class="recent-question"></div> <div class="recent-question"></div> <div class="recent-question"></div> <div class="recent-question"></div> </div> Thanks in advance for any help or thoughts!

  • Looping through array values using JQuery and show them on separate lines

    - by user3192948
I'm building a simple shopping cart where visitors can select a few items they want, click on the "Next" button, and see the confirmation list of things they just selected. I would like to have the confirmation list shown on each line for each item selected. HTML selection <div id="c_b"> <input type="checkbox" value="razor brand new razor that everyone loves, price at $.99" checked> <input type="checkbox" value="soap used soap for a nice public shower, good for your homies, price at $.99" checked> <input type="checkbox" value="manpacks ultimate choice, all in 1, price at $99"> </div> <button type='button' id='confirm'>Next</button> HTML confirmation list <div id='confirmation_list' style='display:none;'> <h2>You have selected item 1</h2> <h2>Your have selected item 2 </h2> </div> JS $(function(){ $('#confirm').click(function(){ var val = []; $(':checkbox:checked').each(function(i){ val[i] = $(this).val(); }); }); }); I ultimately want to replace the words 'Your have selected item 2' in h2s with the values selected from each check box. With the code above I'm able to collect the values of each checkbox into an array val, but having difficulty looping through and displaying them. Any advice would be appreciated.

  • finding elements with text using jQuery

    - by Tim Sheiner
I want to create an array of all the html elements within a div that contain text strings, such as <p>some string</p>. I don't want to get hold of the strings, I want the array items to be the elements (in the example, would be the p node). I do not know before hand what the strings will be, so I can't look for string values to match. I also don't want empty text nodes to end up in the array. Thanks!

  • jQuery responds to click() differently for user and programmatic triggers

    - by Moss
Here's the code: this.Form.find("input[type=checkbox]").click(function(event) { if ($(this).is(":checked")) { console.log("checked"); } else { console.log("unchecked"); } }); If the checkbox is not checked, and I click with the mouse, I get "checked". If I trigger it programmatically like $("#someCheckbox").click(), I get "unchecked". How to make the two behave the same way?

    - by Zier Gofren Schlanum

  • jquery 2 fades complete at the same time

    - by odavy
Hello again, just another quick one: I am noticing differences with fadeOut dependant on whether this is a target. Here's my structure. I have rows of data on my page, and each row has two icons. One is an update icon for that row, one is a delete icon for that row. When a user clicks the update icon for a particular row, I want both the update and the delete icons to fade away. So, in order to fade the thing the user clicked (the update button) and its corresponding delete button, I am using... $(this).next().add(this).fadeOut('slow'); ...which works, but the two elements don't fade at the same time. this fades first (which is the update icon), and then this.next fades out (the delete icon). But if I specify the two elements by name... $('#updS2, #delS2').fadeOut('slow'); then they fade together. Why is it different? Apologies for Friday rambling.

  • JQuery .get() only passing first two data parameters in url

    - by The.Anti.9
I have a $.get() call to a PHP page that takes 4 GET parameters. For some reason, despite giving the $.get() call all 4, it only passes the first two. When I look at the dev console in chrome, it shows the URL that gets called, and it only passes action and dbname. Heres the code: $.get('util/util.php', { action: 'start', dbname: db, url: starturl, crawldepth: depth }, function(data) { if (data == 'true') { status = 1; $('#0').append(starturl + "<ul></ul>"); $('#gobutton').hide(); $('#loading').show("slow"); while(status == 1) { setTimeout("update()",10000); } } else { show_error("Form data incomplete!"); } }); and heres the URL that I see in the developer console: http://localhost/pci/util/util.php?action=start&dbname=1hkxorr9ve1kuap2.db

  • Processing JSON data with jQuery - strange results needing alert()

    - by James
I have this code below. I randomly ran across that it will work if I have that alert message exactly where it is. If I take it out or move it to any other spot the tabs will not appear. What exactly is that alert doing that allows the code to work and how can I make it work without the alert? If I move the each loop into the success section it does not work even with the alert. $.ajax({ type: "GET", url: "../ajax.php", data: "action=tabs", dataType: "json", success: function(data){ Projects = data; } }); alert("yes"); $.each(Projects, function(i){ /* Sequentially creating the tabs and assigning a color from the array: */ var tmp = $('<li><a href="#" class="tab green">'+Projects[i].name+'<span class="left" /><span class="right" /></a></li>'); /* Setting the page data for each hyperlink: */ tmp.find('a').data('page','../ajax.php?action=lists&projectID='+Projects[i].project_id); /* Adding the tab to the UL container: */ $('ul.tabContainer').append(tmp); }); The ajax code is retuning json with this code $query = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM `projects` ORDER BY `position` ASC"); $projects = array(); // Filling the $projects array with new project objects: while($row = mysql_fetch_assoc($query)){ $projects[] = $row; } echo json_encode($projects); The returning data is very small and very fast so I don't think that is the problem.

  • Jquery Ajax refresh not working in IE.

    - by Probocop
Hi, I have a <ul> which refreshes every ten seconds to check if there have been any new tweets (its pulling from a twitter feed). This works fine in Firefox and Chrome etc, but it does not work in any version if Internet Explorer. My code is as follows: setInterval(function() { $("#banter .scroll-pane").load(location.href+" #banter .scroll-pane>*",""); }, 10000); My PHP function creating the list is as follows: function showTweets($section, $limit, $class) { $result = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM hash WHERE section = '".$section."' ORDER BY date DESC LIMIT ".$limit); echo '<ul class="scroll-pane '.$class.'">'; while($row = mysql_fetch_array($result)) { echo '<li>'; echo '<p>'.html_entity_decode($row['tweet']).'</p>'; echo '<a href="'.$row['user_url'].'">'.$row['user'].'</a>'; echo '</li>'; } echo '</ul>'; } Any idea what's going wrong? Thanks

  • jquery next siblings

    - by Contra
Hi stackoverflow! (first post!) Ive been trying to get this problem solved, but I cant seem to figure it out without some serious workarounds. if I have the following html code: <ul> <li class="parent"> headertext </li> <li> text </li> <li> text </li> <li> text </li> <li class="parent"> headertext </li> <li> text </li> <li> text </li> </ul> Now, how do I now just select the li's following the first parent (or second, for that matter)? Basically selecting an li with class=parent and the following siblings until it reaches another li with the parent class. I could restructure the list with nested lists, but I dont want to do that. Any suggestions?
