  • bridge traffic limiting via tc

    I have a Linux machine running as a bridge simulating various network conditions. I use tc for this. Introducing delays or packet loss is quite simple but I got into trouble trying to configure bandwidth limiting. Can you, please, show me how to limit all the traffic going through my bridge without any special rules and condition, simply limit it to 1Mb/s? Thanks.   • Share PC over network

    I have a server installed on one local Win7 machine (say as 192.168.2.14:8080/myAPP) and I want to access that server from different computer (say ip as 192.168.2.16). Even they are connected to same network I can't access server from other computer. I guess the problem is in firewall. This is working when I disable firewall and not working when I allow certain ports in windows firewall but keeping firewall on (As a rule to allow incoming connections).

    I have a NFS Server: usanfsd01 And a remote machine: usafssd01 I tried mounting a directory from usafssd01 onto usanfsd01 by adding the following line to /etc/fstab as root usanfsdo1:/home/dblogs /home/data/dblogs nfs rw 0 0 And when I run the following command to see if NFS is exporting the share, it's not shown showmount -e usanfsdo1 Can someone please help? Also, a point of interest would be there is another mount that works on the same servers and thats defined as below in the /etc/fstab usanfsdo1:/home/files /home/data/files nfs rw 0 0 /etc/exports /nfs/home/dblogs 'IPADDRESS'(rw,no_root_squash)

  • Copy an existing OS X install from another drive

    I just bought a new solid state drive, and I'd like to copy all of the files and setup from my current Mac OS X hard drive onto it. What is the best way to do this? I have a 1TB external hard drive, my drive backed up on Time Machine, and Snow Leopard on a DMG, but no external mount for the SSD, and no install DVD (it's at my parents house, promise). I'm familiar with the command line and booting up Mac OS X from a hard drive.

I tried with different machine but I obtained every time time the same error: svn: OPTIONS of 'http://svn.macports.org/repository/macports/trunk': could not connect to server (http://svn.macports.org) I can't understand the problem, the address is http so I think that is a problem of subversion with http address (the repository is the one for Macport for MAC OS but I think that the problem is not about the repository but is a subversion problem)

    On Windows Vista, I right-click on a folder, Properties, Sharing tab, and either "Advanced Sharing" or "Share"-"Share" causes an error: Windows File Sharing This program will not run Access is denied. Close My user account is an "administrator" on this machine. I think this behavior changed since my computer was added to the new domain recently. I have other folders shared (from long ago), and they continue to be shared just fine.

I want to organize my mp3 directories, but any copied file loses its reference from itunes library, thus, when I add it to itunes again, it'll have no rating data. I guess it's possible if I manipulate the itunes xml database, but I really don't want to mess with it "by hand".

    To restore an SQL Server 2008 database, I would lile to be able to just do something like this in powershell: ./restore.ps1 DatabaseName.bak Then the powershell script would by convention restore it to a database with name "DatabaseName". It would disconnect any user connected to this database so that it can restore the DB. It would store the mdf and ldf in the default location. This would mainly be while developing on my personal machine. Just a quick way to restore a DB. Anyone has such a script? Thanks

    I hid one of the accounts on my computer from the welcome screen by adding it to the registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsNT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\SpecialAccounts\UserList I was hoping I'd be able to log in to this account by hitting Ctrl+Alt+Del on the welcome screen, but Windows 7 completely ignores this.     I have a server which I'd like to install Ubuntu 12.04 on, but I've had some problems and thought it would be nice to get things working in a Virtualbox VM with the same features as the server. I want to enable UEFI-boot in the VM. I "Enable EFI" in the System / Motherboard settings for the VM. I make sure the Ubuntu Server 12.04 ISO is inserted when I boot. And yet I get stuck in the UEFI boot console when I start the VM. How do I install Ubuntu Server 12.04 in a UEFI boot-enabled Virtualbox machine?

I tried installing Google Chrome on it, and the error I get is: Google Update installation failed with error 0x80040890 It is genuine Windows with SP3. I also tried using VMware player, but it has the same problem. When the same Windows is installed on a real machine, there is no problem. Any ideas what might be the cause?

    I have a Windows XP machine that locks itself after an unknown amount of time. I have disabled the screen saver completely, and unchecked "lock computer when coming out of standby". I've even overrode the settings with gpedit. Even still, it locks itself after a while, and it doesn't take long. If it's any sort of hint, the time period for the screensaver is greyed out, even if I choose an actual screensaver.

    I am entertaining building a video wall made out of many android devices. But I have to say I have no clue about how to go about it? The fact that these are android devices is not very important I am curious about the general approach to doing video walls with many separated devices. At best the desktop of one machine should be displayed on all the devices. If not I would be also interested in just showing just a video on that wall.
