  • Troubles setting up my new T1

    I'm more of a web developer kind of guy with limited knowledge of networks, so if anyone can point in the right direction, I would be grateful. I am replacing my satellite connection with a T1 I got for a good deal thru the phone company. I also managed to get my hands on a Netvanta 3200 router. My problem is I can't quite figure out how to set up the router and can't find any kind of guide that would explain what I need to set where. I'm not sure what to do next on my troubleshooting journey.

  • Is span monitoring on Cisco ASA 5520 possible?

    From what I have read, you can use the switchport monitor command on ASA 5505's to setup a Span port due to the back of the ASA actually being a switch. On my 5520, I do not see the switchport command listed when issuing a ? via the CLI. How do people monitor traffic on non-5505's? My goal is to connect our IDS/IPS device that is running is promiscuous mode to a Ethernet port on the 5520 to monitor WAN traffic. I do not want to have to pass the WAN traffic through a switch as it would require me to get two (for redundancy) STP/switchport capable switches.     Hello, I turned my pc into router by allowing port forwarding on port 80 and got my hostname(xyz.donexist.org) registered through dyndns.com. Now i when i type my public ip address in browser i get redirected to my browser. I have installed glassfish and have my website deployed in glassfish. I want that when i type xyz.donexist.org my website should be opened. What all steps more i need to take? I have made a entry in etc/hosts file as :- 127.0.0.1 xyz.donexist.org Please guide me.   • Pidgin: a me-specific log file?

    I'm trying to make a compilation file of all the text sent by me and all the responses that included my name.... What's the best way about scripting this? Is there a plugin like that for pidgin? I'd also like to be able to click on lines to add. For example, someone gives a really useful, easy-to-follow guide to another user, and I think: "I'm going to be doing that tomorrow." Rather than marking and pasting every line of it and skipping through all the other convo, I would like to be able to just click 'send to my personal log,' or something. It seems quite useful, right? And I think that a lot of people would use it. So, please try to provide a comprehensive answer, if possible, or one that I can follow through on.

  • Using respond_to ... format.json and jQuery Form Plugin by malsup

    Hello all, I'm having a tad bit of trouble getting the jQuery Form Plugin to work properly with a file-upload field. When I use the plugin to submit the form without a file-upload field, the format.json portion of the respond_to do |format| block is called properly. However, by adding the file-upload field, it only executes the format.html portion which makes my javascript code think that an error has occurred. Has anyone run into this before or know a way to force the plugin to always use json? Alternatively, can I modify the url that the plugin uses to force Rails to render the json? Every other list element is either given the class attribute li1 or li2 (the purpose of which is to alternate the colors). The list elements need the white-space: pre because the white space before and after the text node is important. The pre is to be 80% of the containing element (which ends up being 80% of the window's width). In the event of overflow in the x dimension, I want scrolling. I did all this in the above CSS, and it almost works. The issue I am having is that the background colors of the list elements don't extend with the content. They seem to be capped to the original width of the pre and/or ol element as demonstrated in the following picture where I scroll all the way right as possible: I tinkered with the CSS for a while, but I cannot determine the root cause for this or the fix. Looking for some advice on this one, thanks.   • Installing ethernet drivers with no install package

    I recently got my new Sony Vaio laptop and formatted it into Windows 7 Ultimate. I would like to use the Windows Easy Transfer Tool over a network connection to transfer some of my files over from my desktop PC. Before I do this though, I need to install the ethernet LAN drivers (I'm currently using the built in Wifi). I downloaded the original LAN driver that came with my Vaio originally from the Sony website: http://support.vaio.sony.eu/computing/vaio/downloads/preinstalled/index.aspx?l=en_GB&m=VPCEB1Z0E_B [Scroll down to the 450KB Ethernet driver] When I unzip the package, these files are inside: yk62x64.cat yk62x64.dll yk62x64.inf yk62x64.sys As you can see, no installer. Can anyone guide me through how to properly install these drivers? I have thought of using Google but I'm clueless as to what query to use. Thanks.

    I am using Fedora 12, the problem I am facing is USB 2.0 write speed. I have a dual boot system with Windows XP and Fedora 12. USB 2.0 write speed in Windows XP is much faster then what I am getting in Fedora 12. After searching Google I came to know that ehci_hcd module is missing/not present in my system. ehci_hcd module is neither loaded nor it is present in the available list of modules. Can someone guide me how to fix this issue? Does ehci_hcd have something to do with USB 2.0 write speed? Do I have to recompile the kernel and add/enable the ehci_hcd module?

  • Cannot login to OpenManage Server Administrator

    After freshly installed OpenManage Server Administrator from the CD that comes with my new server, Dell PowerEdge T110, I still could not figure out how to login successfully to the application. The server is running Windows 2008 SR2 Foundation and serves as a domain controller. I access its web interface locally using Firefox 3.6. On the login page and choose local system login. OMSA user's guide seems to state that I should be able to login using an Active Directory user. I tried Administrator, my_domain\Administrator, a a few combinations with the correct password. But none of them can logged in. Does Server Administrator requires any additional treatment to the user accounts, or what are the steps I missed here?

I've found out that a line of packed javascript was added to many js files across the server.   • Setting up SVN+SSH for multiple users through one local user.

    Hi, I need to make our SVN repository accessible through the firewall - but without creating a local user for each potential external user. Instead, I would like to set-up SVN+SSH to route all external users through a single local user name. We would like each external user to authenticate with SSH the regular way but then treat their instance of svnserve as if they're all that single local user and possibly, control what parts of the repository each external user can access. I know that I will need to set my svnserve config according to the official guide. I tried, but the instructions are fuzzy and I am relatively a Linux n00b. What exactly are the steps to proceed? and how would you go about testing this? Thanks for your help.
