• Ruby on Rails / Yellow Maps For Ruby Plugin woes...

  Okay I've read through the plugin comments and the docs as well and I have yet to come up with an answer as to how to do this. Here's my problem I want to use the :info_window_tabs and the :icon option, but I don't know what format to pass my information in. According to the documentation the following code should be correct. Here's my code: @mapper.overlay_init(GMarker.new([map.lat, map.lng], :title => map.name, :info_window_tabs => [ {:tab => "HTML", :content => @marker_html}, {:tab => "Attachments", :content => "stuff"}], :icon => { :image => "../images/icon.png" })) The readme and documentation can be viewed here. And the relevant ruby file that I am trying to interact with, including the author's comments, can be viewed here. I have tried the #rubyonrails channel in IRC as well as emailing the author directly and reporting an issue at GitHub. It really is just a question of syntax. Thanks!

• Menu items messed up while using MacVim with Vim Latex

  I just installed macvim yesterday and I have been trying to install vim latex today. The one thing I am confused about is the menu items on the top bar: ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- <apple icon> File Edit Tools Syntax TeX-Suite TeX-Environments TeX-Elements ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | Packages > |_____ | Templates > | 1: | | Macros > | 2: | |----------- | 3: | | Compile | 4: | | View |----- | ... | ------------- So in words if you go TeX-Suite -> Templates there is a sub menu with menu items: 1: 2: 3: 4:. Now I know that these templates live here: % pwd /Users/me/.vim/ftplugin/latex-suite/templates % ls IEEEtran.tex article.tex report.tex report_two_column.tex and they are named correctly. Also I know that the :TTemplate vim command should do the same thing. When I type that I get this result: Choose a template file: (1) IEEEtran (2) article (3) report (4) report_two_column Enter number or name of file : So I am thinking that this must be a bug in MacVim. Is this a reasonable assumption? Any fixes?

• Makefile for DOS/Windows and Cygwin

  I need to have a makefile work under DOS (Windows) and Cygwin. I having problems with the makefile detecting the OS correctly and setting appropriate variables. The objective is to set variables for the following commands, then invoke the commands in rules using the variables: Delete file: rm in Cygwin, del in DOS. Remove directory: rmdir (different parameters in Cygwin and DOS) Copy file: cp in Cygwin, copy in DOS. Testing for file existance: test in Cygwin, IF EXIST in DOS. Listing contents of a file: cat in Cygwin, type in DOS. Here is my attempt, which always uses the else clause: OS_KIND = $(OSTYPE) #OSTYPE is an environment variable set by Cygwin. ifeq ($(OS_KIND), cygwin) ENV_OS = Cygwin RM = rm -f RMDIR = rmdir -r CP = cp REN = mv IF_EXIST = test -a IF_NOT_EXIST = ! test -a LIST_FILE = cat else ENV_OS = Win_Cmd RM = del -f -Q RMDIR = rmdir /S /Q IF_EXIST = if exist IF_NOT_EXIST = if not exist LIST_FILE = type endif I'm using the forward slash character, '/', as a directory separator. This is a problem with the DOS command, as it is interpreting it as program argument rather than a separator. Anybody know how to resolve this issue? Edit: I am using make with Mingw in both Windows Console (DOS) and Cygwin.

• setAttribute, onClick and cross browser compatability...

  I have read a number of posts about this but none with any solid answer. Here is my code: // button creation onew = document.createElement('input'); onew.setAttribute("type", "button"); onew.setAttribute("value", "hosts"); onew.onclick = function(){fnDisplay_Computers("'" + alines[i] + "'"); }; // ie onew.setAttribute("onclick", "fnDisplay_Computers('" + alines[i] + "')"); // mozilla odiv.appendChild(onew); Now, the setAttribute() method (with the mozilla comment) works fine in mozilla but only if it comes AFTER the line above it. So in other words it seems to just default to whichever gets set last. The .onclick method (with the ie comment) does not work in either case, am I using it incorrectly? Either way I can't find a way to make this work at all in IE, let alone in both. I did change the function call when using the .onclick method and it worked fine using just a simple call to an alert function which is why I believe my syntax is incorrect. Long story short, I can't get the onclick parameter to work consistently between IE/Mozilla. -- Nicholas

I'd like to reference these inner maps by name and assign them within my template. • How do I pass a callback function to sqlite3_exec on iOS 5.1?

  I am new to both xcode/iOS/Objective-C and sqlite. I am trying to teach myself the basics - and I would like to use the sqlite3 wrapper "sqlite3_exec" for a select query. For some reason, I can't find a simple example anywhere of someone doing this. Basically, the method has a parameter (the third one) for a callback function: int sqlite3_exec( sqlite3*, /* An open database */ const char *sql, /* SQL to be evaluated */ int (*callback)(void*,int,char**,char**), /* Callback function */ void *, /* 1st argument to callback */ char **errmsg /* Error msg written here */ ); That's fine. I'm no stranger to callbacks. However, I just can't seem to get the syntax down right. But, XCode doesn't like the "myCallback" usage at the bottom there. It says: Undeclared Use of Identifier 'myCallback.' That method is declared in the header file, and I've even tried making it static. Nothing seems to make this error go away. I know I must be doing something fundamentally wrong here, but for the life of me I can't figure out what - I can't even find other code samples in this area that could help me figure out what I'm missing. • How to change identifier quote character in SSIS for connection to ODBC DSN

  I'm trying to create an SSIS 2008 Data Source View that reads from an Ingres database via the ODBC driver for Ingres. I've downloaded the Ingres 10 Community Edition to get the ODBC driver, installed it, set up the data access server and a DSN on the server running SSIS. If I connect to the SQL Server 2008 Database Engine on the server running SSIS, I can retrieve data from Ingres over the ODBC DSN by running the following command: SELECT * FROM OPENROWSET( 'MSDASQL' , 'DSN=IngresODBC;UID=testuser;PWD=testpass' , 'SELECT * FROM iitables') So I am quite sure that the ODBC setup is correct. If I try the same query with SQL Server style bracketed identifier quotes, I get an error, as Ingres doesn't support this syntax. SELECT * FROM OPENROWSET( 'MSDASQL' , 'DSN=IngresODBC;UID=testuser;PWD=testpass' , 'SELECT * FROM [iitables]') The error is "[Ingres][Ingres 10.0 ODBC Driver][Ingres 10.0]line 1, Unexpected character '['.". What I am finding is that I get the same error when I try to add tables from Ingres to an SSIS Data Source View. The initial step of selecting the ODBC Provider works fine, and I am shown a list of tables / views to add. I then select any table, and try to add it to the view, and get "ERROR [5000A] [Ingres][Ingres 10.0 ODBC Driver][Ingres 10.0]line 3, Unexpected character '['.". Following Ed Harper's suggestion of creating a named query also seems to be stymied. If I put into my named query the following text: SELECT * FROM "iitables" I still get an error: "ERROR [5000A] [Ingres][Ingres 10.0 ODBC Driver][Ingres 10.0]line 2, Unexpected character '['". According to the error, the query text passed by SSIS to ODBC was: SELECT [iitables].* FROM ( SELECT * FROM "iitables" ) AS [iitables] It seems that SSIS assumes that bracket quote characters are acceptable, when they aren't. How can I persuade it not to use them? Double quotes are acceptable.

• How to temporarily replace one primitive type with another when compiling to different targets in c#

  How to easily/quickly replace float's for doubles (for example) for compiling to two different targets using these two particular choices of primitive types? Discussion: I have a large amount of c# code under development that I need to compile to alternatively use float, double or decimals depending on the use case of the target assembly. Using something like “class MYNumber : Double” so that it is only necessary to change one line of code does not work as Double is sealed, and obviously there is no #define in C#. Peppering the code with #if #else statements is also not an option, there is just too much supporting Math operators/related code using these particular primitive types. I am at a loss on how to do this apparently simple task, thanks! Edit: Just a quick comment in relation to boxing mentioned in Kyles reply: Unfortunately I need to avoid boxing, mainly since float's are being chosen when maximum speed is required, and decimals when maximum accuracy is the priority (and taking the 20x+ performance hit is acceptable). Boxing would probably rules out decimals as a valid choice and defeat the purpose somewhat. Edit2: For reference, those suggesting generics as a possible answer to this question note that there are many issues which count generics out (at least for our needs). • Do overlays/tooltips work correctly in Emacs for Windows?

  I'm using Flymake on C# code, emacs v22.2.1 on Windows. The Flymake stuff has been working well for me. For those who don't know, you can read an overview of flymake, but the quick story is that flymake repeatedly builds the source file you are currently working on in the background, for the purpose of doing syntax checking. It then highlights the compiler warnings and erros in the current buffer. Flymake didn't work for C# initially, but I "monkey-patched it" and it works nicely now. If you edit C# in emacs, I highly recommend using flymake. The only problem I have is with the UI. Flymake highlights the errors and warnings nicely, and then inserts "overlays" with the full error or warning text. IF I hover the mouse pointer over the highlighted line in code, the overlay pops up. But as you can see, the overlay (tooltip) is truncated, and it doesn't display correctly. Flymake seems to be doing the right thing, it's the overlay part that seems broken., and overlay seems to do the right thing. It's the tooltip that is displayed incorrectly. Do overlays tooltips work correctly in emacs for Windows? Where do I look to fix this?

  Hello Everyone i have about 100,000 strings in database and i want to if there is a way to automatically generate regex pattern from these strings. all of them are alphabetic strings and use set of alphabets from English letters. (X,W,V) is not used for example. is there any function or library that can help me achieve this target in C#. Example Strings are KHTK RAZ given these two strings my target is to generate a regex that allows patterns like (k, kh, kht,khtk, r, ra, raz ) case insensitive of course. i have downloaded and used some C# applications that help in generating regex but that is not useful in my scenario because i want a process in which i sequentially read strings from db and add rules to regex so this regex could be reused later in the application or saved on the disk. i m new to regex patterns and don't know if the thing i m asking is even possible or not. if it is not possible please suggest me some alternate approach. • Optimized Publish/Subcribe JMS Broker Cluster and Conflicting Posts on StackOverFlow for the Answer

  Hi, I am looking to build a publish/subscribe distributed messaging framework that can manage huge volumes of message traffic with some intelligence at the broker level. I don't know if there's a topology that describes this, but this is the model I'm going after: EXAMPLE MODEL A A) There are two running message brokers (ideally all on localhost if possible, for easier demo-ing) : Broker-A Broker-B B) Each broker will have 2 listeners and 1 publisher. Example Figure [subscriber A1, subscriber A2, publisher A1] <-- BrokerA <-- BrokerB <-- [publisher B1, subscriber B1, subscriber B2] IF a message-X is published to broker A and there no subscribers for it among the listeners on Broker-B (via criteria in Message Selectors or Broker routing rules), then that message-X will never be published to Broker-B. ELSE, broker A will publish the message to broker B, where one of the broker B listeners/subscribers/services is expecting that message based on the subscription criteria. Is Clustering the Correct Approach? At first, I concluded that the "Broker Clustering" concept is what I needed to support this. However, as I have come to understand it, the typical use of clustering entails either: message redundancy across all brokers ... or Competing Consumers pattern ... and neither of these satisfy the requirement in the EXAMPLE MODEL A. What is the Correct Approach? My question is, does anyone know of a JMS implementation that supports the model I described? I scanned through all the stackoverflow post titles for the search: JMS and Cluster. I found these two informative, but seemingly conflicting posts: Says the EXAMPLE MODEL A is/should-be implicitly supported: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2255816/jms-consumer-with-activemq-network-of-brokers " this means you pick a broker, connect to it, and let the broker network sort it out amongst themselves. • How to suppress quotes in Powershell commands to executables

  Is there any way to supress the enclosing quotation marks around each command-line argument that powershell likes to generate and then pass to external executables for command line arguments that have spaces in them? Here's the situation: One way to unpack many installers is a command of the form: msiexec /a <packagename> /qn TARGETDIR="<path to folder with spaces>" Trying to execute this from powershell has proven quite difficult. Powershell likes to enclose parameters with spaces in double-quotes. The following lines: msiexec /a somepackage.msi /qn 'TARGETDIR="c:\some path"' msiexec /a somepackage.msi /qn $('TARGETDIR="c:\some path"') $td = '"c:\some path"' msiexec /a somepackage.msi /qn TARGETDIR=$td All result in the following command line (as reported by the Win32 GetCommandLine() api): "msiexec" /a somepackage.msi /qn "TARGETDIR="c:\some path"" This command line: msiexec /a somepackage.msi TARGETDIR="c:\some path" /qn results in "msiexec" /a fooinstaller.msi "TARGETDIR=c:\some path" /qn It seems that Powershell likes to enclose the results of expressions meant to represent one argument in quotation marks when passing them to external executables. This works fine for most executables. However, MsiExec is very specific about the quoting rules it wants and won't accept any of the command lines Powershell generates for paths have have spaces in them. Is there any way to suppress this behavior?

• Java Playing Cards Game Framework

  My friends and I at uni love playing Shithead into the wee hours. But soon we graduate and will leave town, so probably won't get together for a game for a while. I want to develop a Java app we can use to play Shithead and our other favorites over a network. An app like this already exists, but is ugly, buggy and does not support our house rules. The source is available, but is such a mess that I would really rather start from scratch than try to refactor it! Building my game using some standard playing card api or framework, if such a thing exists, would be better than starting from scratch. The answer to a similar SO question was to use the JPC-API, which allegedly provides basic playing card services and rendering. But this Sourceforge project currently makes available no files or source code! Is there an alternative, or somewhere else to find this framework? Soon I will need help with the following as well: Lobby services (finding other players) Gaming network protocol (to communicate moves between players) Gaming theory (to write the computer opponent) Winning condition detection Game UI development

If i understand properly because i am using a shared server, and that Dreamhost doesn't suppose rails 3.2.8 I must use FCGI, although i am not sure how to install and to make it run properly. From this tutorial http://wiki.dreamhost.com/Rails_3. • Mercurial 1.5 pager on Windows

  I'm trying to set the pager used for Mercurial but the output is empty, even if I specify the command in the [pager] section or as the PAGER environment variable. I noticed that the command provided is launched with cmd.exe. Is this the cause of empty output, and if yes, what is the right syntax? Environment: Mercurial 1.5, Mecurial 1.4.3 hgrc: [extensions] pager = [pager] pager = d:\tools\less\less.exe Sample command lines (from Process Explorer): hg diff c:\windows\system32\cmd.exe /c "d:\tools\less\less.exe 2> NUL:" d:\tools\less\less.exe UPDATE In pager.py, by replacing: sys.stderr = sys.stdout = util.popen(p, "wb") with sys.stderr = sys.stdout = subprocess.Popen(p, stdin = subprocess.PIPE, shell=False).stdin I managed to obtain the desired output for the hg status and diff. BUT, I'm sure it's wrong (or at least incomplete), and I have no control over the pager app (less.exe): the output is shown in the cmd.exe window, I can see the less prompt (:) but any further input is fed into cmd.exe. It seems that the pager app is still active in the background: after typing exit in the cmd.exe window, I have control over the pager app, and I can terminate it normally.   The problem here consists of translating a statement written in LINQ to SQL syntax into the equivalent for NHibernate. MyDTO is a custom type for the output: public class MyDTO { public string thread_topic { get; set; } public DateTime post_time { get; set; } public string user_display_name { get; set; } public string user_signature { get; set; } public string user_avatar { get; set; } public string post_topic { get; set; } public string post_body { get; set; } } I'm out of ideas, and while doing this by direct SQL query is possible, I'd like to do it properly, without defeating the purpose of using an ORM.   To create a delegate from a method you can use the compile-safe syntax: private int Method() { ... } // and create the delegate to Method... Func<int> d = Method; A property is a wrapper around a getter and setter method, and I want to create a delegate to a property getter method. Something like public int Prop { get; set; } Func<int> d = Prop; // or... Func<int> d = Prop_get; Which doesn't work, unfortunately. I have to create a separate lambda method, which seems unnecessary when the setter method matches the delegate signature anyway: Func<int> d = () => Prop; In order to use the delegate method directly, I have to use nasty reflection, which isn't compile-safe: // something like this, not tested... MethodInfo m = GetType().GetProperty("Prop").GetGetMethod(); Func<int> d = (Func<int>)Delegate.CreateDelegate(typeof(Func<int>), m); Is there any way of creating a delegate on a property getting method directly in a compile-safe way, similar to creating a delegate on a normal method at the top, without needing to use an intermediate lambda method?

• What is the correct date format for a Date column in YUI DataTable ?

  I have produced a data table. All the columns are sortable. It has a date in one column which I formatted dd/mm/yyyy hh:mm:ss . This is different from the default format as defined in the doco, but I should be able to define my own format for non-american formats. (See below) The DataTable class provides a set of built-in static functions to format certain well-known types of data. In your Column definition, if you set a Column's formatter to YAHOO.widget.DataTable.formatDate, that function will render data of type Date with the default syntax of "MM/DD/YYYY". If you would like to bypass a built-in formatter in favor of your own, you can point a Column's formatter to a custom function that you define. The table is generated from HTML Markup, so the data is held within "" tags. This gives me some more clues about compatible string dates for javascript: In general, the RecordSet expects to hold data in native JavaScript types. For instance, a date is expected to be a JavaScript Date instance, not a string like "4/26/2005" in order to sort properly. Converting data types as data comes into your RecordSet is enabled through the parser property in the fields array of your DataSource's responseSchema I suspect that the I'm missing something in the date format. So what is an acceptable string date for javascript, that Yui dataTable will recognise, given that I want format it as "dd/mm/yyyy hh:mm:ss" ?

• Write a compiler for a language that looks ahead and multiple files?

  In my language I can use a class variable in my method when the definition appears below the method. It can also call methods below my method and etc. There are no 'headers'. Take this C# example. class A { public void callMethods() { print(); B b; b.notYetSeen(); public void print() { Console.Write("v = {0}", v); } int v=9; } class B { public void notYetSeen() { Console.Write("notYetSeen()\n"); } } How should I compile that? what i was thinking is: pass1: convert everything to an AST pass2: go through all classes and build a list of define classes/variable/etc pass3: go through code and check if there's any errors such as undefined variable, wrong use etc and create my output But it seems like for this to work I have to do pass 1 and 2 for ALL files before doing pass3. Also it feels like a lot of work to do until I find a syntax error (other than the obvious that can be done at parse time such as forgetting to close a brace or writing 0xLETTERS instead of a hex value). My gut says there is some other way. Note: I am using bison/flex to generate my compiler.

• What is the best way to parse python script file in C/C++ code

  I am embedding python in C/C++ program. What I am trying to do is to parse the python script file from the C/C++ program, break the file to "blocks" so that each "block" is an a valid command in python code. Each block I need to put into std::string. For example: #PythonScript.py import math print "Hello Python" i = 0; while (i < 10): print "i = " , i; i = i + 1; print "GoodBye Python" In this script are 5 different "blocks": the first one is "import math;" the second is "print "Hello Python;" the third is "i = 0;" and the fourth is while (i < 10):\n\tprint "i = " , i;\n\ti = i + 1; My knowledge in python is very basic and I am not familiar with the python code syntax. What is the best way to do this, is there any Python C/C++ API function that supports this? why i need it - for GUI purpose. My program , which is writen in C, uses python to make some calculations. I run from C code , using python C API , python script and what i need is a way to capture python's output in my program. I catch it and evrything is ok, the problem is when the script involves user input. What happens is that i capture python's output after the script is finished , therefore, when there is an input command in the script i get a black screen .... i need to get all the printings before the input command. The first solution i tried is to parss the script to valid commands and run each comand, one after the other , seperatly .... for this i need to pars the script and deside what is a command and what is not ... The question is : what is the best way to do this and if there is somthing that allready does ?

• Bitrate Switching in xml playlist not loading video

  Using JW Player ver 5.4 and JW Embedder. Plugins are grid by Dabbler and fbit (Facebook). The Bitrate switching is not working. Does work fine for one video with HTML5 Video tag. When more than one video, it only shows the first video pic. Works fine with no bitrate switching.   i have not worked with XML in a while can someone post the syntax needed to build and save an xml node structure that resembles that of a tree structure that is created by a recursive function. basically i have a recursive function that saves data found an a page(url) and then follows each URL found on that page recursivley and does the same to it. to audit this i want an output as a xml file to disk so i can see how it is doing its recursion and parsing. the code i have is below. please add to it the needed xml calls needed to create a xml structure like the one i show below. (please include the full name space so i can see where the objects i need in .net are for this.) page1.htm has 2 links on it: <a href=page1_1.htm> <a href=page1_2.htm> page1_1.htm has 2 links on it <a href=page1_1_a.htm> (this then will have some links also) <a href=page1_1_b.htm> (this then will have no more links on it - dead end) the xml should do something like this: <node url=page1.htm> ...<node url=page1_1_a.htm> ...... <node url="xxx.htm"/> ...... <node url="yyy.htm".> ... </node> ...<node url=page1_1_b.htm /> </node>

I tried the following syntax but with no avail: x,y,z,w = fsolve(equations, (1,1,1,1)) I keep getting the error that "x" is not defined. I am executing all commands at the command-line, since I have no idea how to run a batch of commands as above automatically in python. I welcome any advice on how to solve this.
