Not sure why its not picking up the value. Any ideas? • ASP.net hiding panel using javascript

  Hi, I have a radioButtonList with 2 items in it. A radiobutton with a "Yes" value and a radionButton with a "No" value. Below that I have a panel which I want made visible when "Yes" radioButton is selected and hidden when "No" is selected. I had originally implemented this using the AutoPostBack attribute but I want to do it in Javascript so that it doesn't cause a postback. Here's the code. • Template class + virtual function = must implement?

  This code: template <typename T> struct A { T t; void DoSomething() { t.SomeFunction(); } }; struct B { }; A<B> a; is easily compiled without any complaints, as long as I never call a.DoSomething(). However, if I define DoSomething as a virtual function, I will get a compile error saying that B doesn't declare SomeFunction. I can somewhat see why it happens (DoSomething should now have an entry in the vtable), but I can't help feeling that it's not really obligated. Plus it sucks. Is there any way to overcome this? EDIT 2: Okay. I hope this time it makes sence: Let's say I am doing intrusive ref count, so all entities must inherit from base class Object. How can I suuport primitive types too? I can define: template <typename T> class Primitive : public Object { T value; public: Primitive(const T &value=T()); operator T() const; Primitive<T> &operator =(const T &value); Primitive<T> &operator +=(const T &value); Primitive<T> &operator %=(const T &value); // And so on... }; so I can use Primitive<int>, Primitive<char>... But how about Primitive<float>? It seems like a problem, because floats don't have a %= operator. But actually, it isn't, since I'll never call operator %= on Primitive<float>. That's one of the deliberate features of templates. If, for some reason, I would define operator %= as virtual. Or, if i'll pre-export Primitive<float> from a dll to avoid link errors, the compiler will complain even if I never call operator %= on a Primitive<float>. If it would just have fill in a dummy value for operator %= in Primitive<float>'s vtable (that raises an exception?), everything would have been fine.

But I'm in need of a small snippet that looks up the current height of a div (the div has a dynamic height based on the content inside it) and then set that value in the css class's min-height value. Basically what this means is that I want this container to have it's min-height to be the exact same value as it's current height. This is probably a quick one :)

• Manipulating both unicode and ASCII character set in C#

  I have this mapping in my C# application string [,] unicode2Ascii = { { "&#3001;", "\x86" } }; ஹ - is the unicode value for a tamil literal "ஹ". This is the raw hex literal for the unicode value saved by MS Word as a byte sequence. I am trying to map these unicode value "strings" to a hex value under 255 (so as to accommodate non-unicode supported systems). I trying to use string.replace like this: S = S.replace(unicode2Ascii[0,0], unicode2Ascii[0,1]); However the resultant ouput has a ? instead of the actual hex 0x86 stored. Any pointer on how I could set the encoding for the second element of that array to something like windows-1252? Or is there a better way to do this conversion? thanks in advance

  My doubt is that if the len(list) calculates the length of the list everytime it is called or it returns the value of the builtin counter.I have a context where i need to check the length of list everytime in a loop, likelistData = [] for value in ioread(): if len(listData)=25: processlistdata() clearlistdata() listData.append(value) Should I check len(listData) every iteration, or can I have a counter for the length of the list.

  Tried to find the answer, but still couldn't.. The table is as follows: id, keyword, value 1 display 15.6 1 harddrive 320 1 ram 3 So what i need is something like this.. Select an id from this table where (keyword="display" and value="15.6") AND (keyword="harddrive" and value="320") There's also a possibility that there will be 3 or 4 such keyword conditions which should result into returning one id (one row) It seems there's something to deal with UNION but i didn't use it before so i can't figure it out Thanks in advance

  I cannot see this behavior in JBoss 4.2.3. If I try to call addCookie() on HttpServletResponse and my cookie value has accented characters in it (ex. ç) I get this exception: java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: Control character in cookie value, consider BASE64 encoding your value Does anyone know what change in JBoss 5.1.0 could be causing these problems?

• ASP.NET DropDownList control doesn't postback correctly inside of UserControl

  I have a situation where a DropDownList control is not posting back correctly. The AutoPost property is set to true, so the postback does happen, but the SelectedValue is not set to the correct value. In addition, the onSelectedIndexChanged event doesn't fire. The exact same code works perfect fine on an ASPX page, but does not work in a ASCX control. I have tried all the obvious things, I hope, trying to figure this one out, but no luck so far. I have even investigated what comes back in Request.Form["__EVENTTARGET"] and __EVENTARGUMENT. __EVENTTARGET does point to the drop down list, but the argument is empty. Can the folks of StackOverflow help lead me in the right direction to debug this issue. Of course, it is further complicated by master pages and the usual overcomplication of ASP.NET. Using Jquery.1.4.2.min.js, Jquery.cookie.1.0.js I am trying to create a cookie when a link is clicked (will always link to "page.html"). name of instrument value of the TEXT So far I am trying to use: Link1: <a href="page.html">link1</a> Link2: <a href="page.html">link2</a> Script: $('a[href=page.html]').click(function() { var name = 'instrument'; var value = $(this).text(); $.cookie(name, value, { expires: 365 }); }); When I click the link it just loads the link and no cookie is set. Debugging with firebug, firecookie, firequery. No cookie for instrument or anything along the lines is found. Onload I'll hit the "<a href="page.html">projects</a>" but not the "$.cookie(name, value, { expires: 365 });" at all.

  I have a search form where several checkboxes are checked by default. When the form submits, as a GET, the url will only contain the list of checkboxes that were left checked. http://www.example.com/page/?checkbox1=yes&checkbox2=yes It is difficult with this scenario to determine the difference between when a user first arrives at this search page and when they submit the form with all checkboxes unchecked because the querystrings look the same. To combat this problem I have started injecting a hidden field before the checkbox with the same name and a 'no' value. When the checkbox is unchecked the browser will send the hidden field's no value and when the checkbox is set then the browser is overriding the hidden field with the checkbox's 'yes' value. <input type="hidden" name="checkbox1" value="no" /> <input type="checkbox" name="checkbox1" value="yes" /> when the user submits the form with all checkboxes unchecked I get this querystring: http://www.example.com/page/?checkbox1=no&checkbox2=no This seems to work on ff, chrome, ie5.5+ so I'am I safe in using this method or is there a better way to make checkboxes submit like inputs and selects?

  I'm new to code igniter. I'm following the form validation tutorial found at: http://www.codeignitor.com/user_guide/libraries/validation.html I find I am typing too much in the view to get the form to re-populate. For example, here's what one of my INPUT fields look like: <input type="text" name="email" value="<?=$this->validation->email ? $this->validation->email : $array_db_values['email'] ?>" /> Basically, when the form first loads, it should show a value from the database. If the user alters the value and it fails validation, then the form should post the erroneously submitted value. Does code igniter have a "cleaner" way of rendering this kind of output? Otherwise, I'm going to do something like this in my controller: $array_db_values = getdbresults(); if($_POST['submit']) foreach($_POST as $key=>$val) $array_db_values[$key] = $val; That way, if postback data exists, it will always override database values. Then input fields in my view can simply be: <input type="text" name="email" value="<?=$array_db_values['email'] ?>" /> Is there a better/native CI way to handle this scenario?
