  • Guaranteeing the onmouseout event to fire

    Hello everybody, I'm currently developing a web application and have run into a little problem. I'm using ExtJS, but I believe this to be a general JS question. When the cursor enters an HTML element, the onmouseover event is fired, when the cursor leaves that element, onmouseout is triggered. So far, so good. Unfortunately, it seems one can't fully rely on this behaviour. Very quick mouse movements can cause the event not to fire (as does repositioning the cursor with a pen tablet, for example). What are the best practices to handle these issues? Do I need to monitor all onmousemove events and manually keep track of where the cursor was last and fire the appropriate onmouseout event myself?

Am I missing something here?

    Hi all, In my aplication, I want a tableview with different cell structure depending upon the category of data that's getting loaded in it [I have different categories like video, editorial etc with different structure of data like video has a single label, editorial has 3 labels etc]. I can load different nib files based on the data coming from xml parser. Now when the cell is tapped, I want to show its detailed view on a new viewController. So my question is is it possible to use only 1 viewController show different fields depending upon the category of data in the cell. Or do I need to create different viewControllers for each of the categories?

    To build a HTML table I use direct DOM instead of a predefined Widget to set thead and tbody. But when I insert a cell with the insertCell() method GWT inserts an td element but should insert an th element. So TableElement table = Document.get().createTableElement(); TableSectionElement thead = table.createTHead(); TableRowElement headRow = thead.insertRow(-1); headRow.insertCell(-1).setInnerText( "header1" ); gives table/thead/tr/td but should give table/thead/tr/th Any idea how to solve this problem?     Hi, I'm getting these little diamonds with question marks in them in my HTML attributes when I present data from my database. I'm using EPiServer and a few custom properties. This is the information I've gathered, I save my data as a XML document, since I use custom EPiServer properties which need more than one defined value. This is saved as UTF8. It's only attributes in element tags which have this problem, such as align=left becomes align=?left?. There is no " character there, but I get the diamonds anyway. If I use " outside an element, it works and shows correctly. Any clues?

    First off I want to say that I wasn't really sure where to post this but it is very much programming related. If it is in the wrong spot I apologize and please let me know where I should post it instead. When sharing an article on a friends wall, facebook will grab a thumbnail of the article. How do they always get the right thumbnail from articles? It doesn't grab the logo img element of of http://www.nytimes.com/2010/06/07/world/asia/07convoys.html?hp for example but rather grabs the correct image element that corresponds with the article. I'm looking to do something similar and was wondering of a good way to parse the html to find the image given this example. Thanks.

  • IE Print CSS and spanning page breaks

    I've been working on trying to fix an issue with print CSS and IE where things would disappear when printing in landscape mode. It appears the issue is that the element I'm trying to print (a large DIV with content inside it) spans two pages when put into landscape mode. What is happening is when the element spans two pages, the first page is blank, and the second page is printing what would normally be left over from the first page. I think it's related to contained floats: wrapper div floated div1 floated div2 If I set the two nested divs to float: none in the print CSS file, then IE will print them, albeit not in the layout we'd like. Before I spend another hour on this, anyone know what, specifically, is the issue here and if there's a known workaround?

    I have a form where a user can toggle receiving funds either via check or via electronic transfer. When they choose either way in a list box, the respective part of the form hides. If they choose electronic transfer only bank info fields show, if they choose via check only address info shows and the bank fields are hidden. Well, since they choose one way or another I want to, not validate for something that is hidden. (Client Side) Is there a way to set xVal to only validate fields that are not visible?     NOTE: This is a challenging problem for anybody who likes logic problems, etc. Consider a rectangular two-dimensional grid of height H and width W. Every space on the grid has a value, either 0 1 or 2. Initially, every space on the grid is a 0, except for the spaces along each of the four edges, which are initially a 2. Then consider an arbitrary path of adjacent (horizontally or vertically) grid spaces. The path begins on a 2 and ends on a different 2. Every space along the path is a 1. The path divides the grid into two "sectors" of 0 spaces. There is an object that rests on an unspecified 0 space. The "sector" that does NOT contain the object must be filled completely with 2. Define an algorithm that determines the spaces that must become 2 from 0, given an array (list) of values (0, 1, or 2) that correspond to the values in the grid, going from top to bottom and then from left to right. In other words, the element at index 0 in the array contains the value of the top-left space in the grid (initially a 2). The element at index 1 contains the value of the space in the grid that is in the left column, second from the top, and so forth. The element at index H contains the value of the space in the grid that is in the top row but second from the left, and so forth. Once the algorithm finishes and the empty "sector" is filled completely with 2s, the SAME algorithm must be sufficient to do the same process again. The second (and on) time, the path is still drawn from a 2 to a different 2, across spaces of 0, but the "grid" is smaller because the 2s that are surrounded by other 2s cannot be touched by the path (since the path is along spaces of 0).   • jQuery getting these functions to work together

    I'm new to jQuery and have tried looking around for an answer on how to do this. I have 2 functions and I would like both to work together. The one function is submitHandler and its used to hide a form and at the same time add a class to a hidden element to unhide it - ie a thank you for submitting h1. The other function is to grab the input data and display it onsubmit in the form. So the problem is that I can get that one to work but then the other doesnt. Ie on form submit I can see the data input but not the h1 Thank you message.   • Converting a list into a select with jquery

    I'm trying to convert the following list into a select list so it can be submitted via a form - the element within the lists will become the value of each option: <ul class="selected connected-list ui-sortable" style="height: 279px;"> <li class="ui-helper-hidden-accessible" style=""></li> <li title="Owner Name 1 - " class="ui-state-default ui-element ui-draggable" style="display: block; position: relative; top: 0px; left: 0px;"><span class="ui-icon-arrowthick-2-n-s ui-icon"></span>Owner Name 1 - <em class="thenumber">4.4796E+11</em><a class="action" href="#"><span class="ui-corner-all ui-icon ui-icon-minus"></span></a></li> <li title="David Moffat - " class="ui-state-default ui-element" style="display: block; position: relative; top: 0px; left: 0px;"><span class="ui-icon ui-icon-arrowthick-2-n-s"></span>David Moffat - <em class="thenumber">07730423005</em><a class="action" href="#"><span class="ui-corner-all ui-icon ui-icon-minus"></span></a></li> </ul> This should convert to the following format: <select style="display:none" class="selectoption" name="p_num[]" multiple="multiple"> <option value="">4.4796E+11</option> <option value="">07730423007</option> </select> I have tried the following jquery code, but after many hours I'm pulling my hair out: $('a.sendform').click(function(){ $('ul.selected').each(function() { var $select = $('<select />'); $(this).find('li').each(function() { var $option = $('<option />'); $option.attr('value', $(this).('em')).html($(this).html()); $select.append($option); }); $(this).replaceWith($select); }); }); Any help might save my remaining hair.   • filtering elements from list of lists in Python?

    I want to filter elements from a list of lists, and iterate over the elements of each element using a lambda. For example, given the list: a = [[1,2,3],[4,5,6]] suppose that I want to keep only elements where the sum of the list is greater than N. I tried writing: filter(lambda x, y, z: x + y + z >= N, a) but I get the error: <lambda>() takes exactly 3 arguments (1 given) How can I iterate while assigning values of each element to x, y, and z? Something like zip, but for arbitrarily long lists. thanks, p.s. I know I can write this using: filter(lambda x: sum(x)..., a) but that's not the point, imagine that these were not numbers but arbitrary elements and I wanted to assign their values to variable names.
