• Google App Engine 1.3.1 <admin-console> Issue

  I attempted to add an <admin-console> section to my appengine-web.xml and I got the exception below. The <admin-console> element is a valid element according to the appengine-web.xsd. It's also documented in the app engine docs.   I'm deploying my Rails 3 app to a subdirectory of my hosting service and therefore I'm using both a scope statement in my routes.rb and a config.assets.prefix. However, this causes my rake assets:precompile to build into public//assets instead of just into assets (since my prefix simply accounts for the scope). I can copy the files to the right location and everything will work, but I'd love for someone to tell me a better way (one must exist, right?). /config/application.rb config.assets.prefix = "/sapa/assets" /config/routes.rb scope "sapa" do … end Any help would be appreciated.

It's not terribly desirable to have the Salt known at compile time. The current strategy is to locate the Salt value in the web.config. These are rather complex maintenance PHP scripts which take a lot of input parameters, so entering arguments from within Netbeans is a bit cumbersome.   Hi, I have an application consisting of a host and pluggable modules (plugins). I want to be able to configure log4net for the host and for each of the other modules. Each of them should have its own configuration file and each will log to a different file. Only the host has an App.config file. The plugins have their own config file containing the log4net config sections. Calling XmlConfigurator.Configure from one of the plugins overrides the host's app.config log4net definitions. Is there an easy way to append configurations instead of overriding them? Thanks, Gai.

I've previously always added a web setup project to my solution, and used that to create an MSI, even for small applications. But when I build a web setup project in VS2010 it kind of works but some stuff still seems broken: 1. I need to turn on IIS 6 Compatibility on a Win 2008 R2 box to get the msi to run. 2. The msi includes web.config, web.debug.config, and web.release.config. I thought VS's web.config transformations was supposed to take care of that. -Matt

• Amazon access key showing in URL for Carrierwave and Fog

  I just switched from storing my images uploaded via Carrierwave locally to using Amazon s3 via the fog gem in my Rails 3.1 app. While images are being added, when I click on an image in my application, the URL is providing my access key and a signature. Here is a sample URL (XXX replaced the string with the info): https://s3.amazonaws.com/bucketname/uploads/photo/image/2/IMG_4842.jpg?AWSAccessKeyId=XXX&Signature=XXX%3D&Expires=1332093418 This is happening in development (localhost:3000) and when I am using heroku for production. • Private Java class properties mysteriously reset between method calls....

  I have a very odd problem. A class property is mysteriously reset between method calls. The following code is executed so the constructor is called, then the parseConfiguration method is called. Finally, processData is called. The parseConfiguration method sets the "recursive" property to "true". However, as soon as it enters "processData", "recursive" becomes "false". This problem isn't isolated to a single class -- I have several examples of this in my code. How can this possibly be happening? I've tried initialising properties when they're declared outside any methods, I've tried initialising them in constructors... nothing works. The only complication I can think of here is that this class is invoked by an object that runs in a thread -- but here is one instance per thread, so surely no chance that threads are interfering. I've tried setting both methods to "synchronized", but this still happens. • How to get the output of an XslCompiledTransform into an XmlReader?

  I have an XslCompiledTransform object, and I want the output in an XmlReader object, as I need to pass it through a second stylesheet. I'm getting a bit confused - I can successfully transform some XML and read it using either a StreamReader or an XmlDocument, but when I try an XmlReader, I get nothing. In the example below, stylesheet is my XslCompiledTransform object. The first two Console.WriteLine calls output the correct transformed XML, but the third call gives no XML. I'm guessing it might be that the XmlTextReader is expecting text, so maybe I need to wrap this in a StreamReader..? What am I doing wrong?   I would like to set up my codeigniter projects so I can use it in any folder on my webserver. Unfortunately codeigniter requires me to specify the location in several variables of the config. This is a problem for portability. There are 3 places where I see this: 1) $config['base_url'] 2) $config['base_path'] 3) .htaccess RewriteRule So far, I have found the solution to (1) here: http://codeigniter.com/wiki/Automatic_base_url/ I am looking for solutions to (2) and (3), but most importantly (3). Here is an example situation: I set .htaccess to have the RewriteRule as follows: RewriteRule ^(.*)$ /folderA/index.php/$1 [L] Then I go into my repo and check out the project to another folder to make some separate changes. Now I have to update .htaccess to show the following: RewriteRule ^(.*)$ /folderB/index.php/$1 [L] I would like to set it so I dont have to make any config changes when I check out another copy.

  I'm building an app that uses subdomains as account handles (myaccount.domain.com) and I have my sessions configured to work across the sub-domains like so: config.action_controller.session = {:domain => '.domain.com'} In addition to the subdomain a user can input a real domain name when they are creating their account. My Nginx config is setup to watch for *.com *.net etc, and this is working to serve out the pages. The problem comes when a site visitor submits a comment form on a custom domain that was input by the user. The code is throwing an "Invalid AuthenticityToken" exception. I'm 99% sure this is because the domain the user is on isn't specified as the domain in the config.action_controller.session. Thus the authenticity token isn't getting matched up because Rails can't find their session. So, the question is: Can you set config.action_controller.session to more than 1 domain, and if so can you add / remove from that value at runtime without restarting the app?

• Unable to change URL for .NET reference to dynamic web service

  Hi all, I have a web reference added to a C# .NET project. The URL for the web reference needs to change depending on whether I'm building for a development, staging or production environment. I've set the web service to be dynamic, which supposedly means it takes the URL from my app.config file. When I perform a build it overwrites the app.config with the required file which contains the correct URL (different file for each of dev/staging/production.) I then go into the solution properties and make sure the Settings.settings file is updated with the app.config changes. However when I view the properties for the web service, it is still showing the old URL, despite it being dynamic, and supposed to be reading from my settings file (even after closing and reopening the project/solution.) The app.config and the settings file all have the new URL, but the web reference doesn't notice it has changed. If I do a build it ignores the URL in the settings file and tries to connect to the last URL manually typed into the web reference's properties. Typing a URL into these properties correctly updates the app.config and .settings files, so the link is definitely there. I'm a bit new to .NET but it seems to me the purpose of setting the service to be dynamic is so that you can change the URL elsewhere, but when I do this it just gets ignored! Am I doing something wrong?

  I have a class, containing a property Brush MyBrush marked as [XmlIgnore]. Nevertheless it is serialized in the stream causing trouble when trying to read via XamlReader. I did some tests, e.g. when changing the visibility (to internal) of the Property it is gone in the stream. Unfortunately I cannot do this in my particular scenario. Did anybody have the same issue and? Do you see any way to work around this? In the above code this Unit Tests fails because of a Brush object not serializable is the value. When I remove the Setter (as below, the Unit Test passes. Using the XmlWriter (basically same test as above) it works. In the StringBuffer sb I can see that Property Brush is serialized when the Setter is there and not when removed (most likely another check ignoring the Property because of no setter).   Using the OpenSSL libraries one can create a CSR (certificate signing request) by doing this: openssl genrsa -out rsa.key 1024 openssl req -new -key rsa.key -out output.csr -config config.txt where config.txt contains the distinguished name to use in the certificate. I would like to do something similar under Windows using C#. However, the method createPKCS10 does not require you to supply an RSA key. Is there a way to get C# to generate an explicit RSA private key and then use that private key to create the CSR?

  Hi, I am able to override multiple config parameters using nose-testconfig plugin only if i pass the overriding parameters on commandline. e.g. nosetests -c nose.cfg -s --tc=jack.env1:asl --tc=server2.env2:abc But when I define the same thing inside nose.cfg, than only the value for last parameter is modified. e.g. tc = server2.env2:abc tc = jack.env1:asl I checked the plugin code. It looks fine to me. • Move websites from IIS7 to IIS 7.5

  Can anyone suggest the best way of moving websites on server1 with IIS7 to server2 with IIS 7.5 on it? I've read some articles which suggest copying the applicationHost.config file while preserving the configProtectedData node, but I'm concerned there may be settings in the IIS 7.5 config that don't exist in the current IIS7 config which would be lost. I've also seen suggestions of moving each site individually by using a command like this: AppCmd.exe LIST SITE "My Site" /config /XML mysite.xml This method just takes too long to do this for dozens of sites. There must be a better way of moving all the sites at once to the new platform.

The Story method is as follows, and the associated show method for a sentence is also included. So I'm assuming that for some reason the sentence_block isn't getting saved to the database. Can anyone help me with my understanding of the behavior and why I'm getting the error? I'm trying to ensure that every time the view depicts show for a story, an unnecessary sentence_block and sentence isn't created, unless someone submits the form, I'm not really sure how to accomplish this.   I am trying to deserialize an xml string in c#3.5, the code below does work in c# 4.0. When I try to run in the code in c#3.5 I get an Object reference not set to an instance of an object exception when the code tries in initialize the XmlSerializer.
