  I am modifying the QuartzDemo application to include swipe detection while UIView is active (a PDF page being displayed in it via Quartz). This will not work, the event never gets to the QuartzView.m because it sits under scrollview? touchesBegan works fine and I can use single tap. How can I go about with catching touchesMoved while PDF page is being displayed? I need a simple example with code that does nothing on touchesMoved, I'll build up on that later. Please keep in mind that I still want to use the UIScrollview as it is and show PDF content based on selection in that scrollview.

• Using Web Flow 2 in JSF application

  Hi, I created a JSF cart application which runs just fine. I am using 'redirect' to fix the problem with refresh. The problem is when there is multiple page flow logic like if you haven't signed up you need to sign up or create an account, and once you do that you need to be redirected back to where you were when you were asked to sign up in the first place. So my goal is to use Web Flow 2 in order to make navigation rules easier to code. I have been working on them separately but I don't know how to merge so that Web Flow can handle navigation instead. • Closing a dialog form closes the application

When i close the dialog form the application is closed, not just the dialog form! If i invoke the dialog form in other form it works normally. The form from which i invoke the dialog form is top level, but even if i change that i'm getting the same result. Does anyone know what's wrong?

  I'm working on a program that loads sounds from Ogg Vorbis files, but whatever I do, the XCode project just doesn't seem to want to link libvorbisfile.a into my program. • .NET framework 4 total application deployment size

  After watching in horror as the .NET framework 3.5 SP1 bloated to whopping 231 MB I was amazed to see that .NET Framework 4 Full (x86) is only 35 MB and client profile just 29 MB. My question is if .NET Framework 4 is in any way dependent on previous versions of the framework being installed on the client machine or if my users will have to download only 29 (or 35) MB if I develop a Winforms or WPF desktop application in VS 2010 targeting .NET Framework version 4.0? Edit: Wikipedia concurs with the answers: Some developers have expressed concerns about the large size of .NET framework runtime installers for end-users. The size is around 54 MB for .NET 3.0, 197 MB for .NET 3.5, and 250 MB for .NET 3.5 SP1 (while using web installer the typical download for Windows XP is around 50 MB, for Windows Vista - 20 MB). The size issue is partially solved with .NET 4 installer (x86 + x64) being 54 MB and not embedding full runtime installation packages for previous versions.

• Question about the lifecycle of a simple Android application

  Hi, I've got a simple application with 3 activities: -the first contains a search box which calls a web service and show the results (restaurants) below in a listview -when a restaurant is clicked another activity is started showing the description of the restaurant and a button "show map" -when the button "show map" is clicked, guess what, the map is shown in a third activity. All the data is loaded in the first activity by a web service (restaurant descriptions and coordinates), and data required by each activity is passed in a bundle using "intent.putExtra". Now everything seems to run smoothly when clicking on the back button (eg. clicking on the back button from the map resumes the "restaurant description" activity with all data set properly), while I haven't done anything about the lifecycle yet. Why? Are all variables saved automatically? Should I use onSaveInstanceState() and onRestoreInstanceState() anyway? Thanks Jul

  Hi, I have read that viewstate is not there in asp.net MVC application. I am doing model validation. Now if i have two text boxes on my page,and i am doing required filed validation for both of them in model. This validation is done on server side on click of a button. I will fill one text box and click on submit button. It does the validation and returns the result saying second field is required. At this time value of the first text box is retained. So can you tell me how this text box is retaining the value even after postback?

  Is their any profilers that support Silverlight? I have tried ANTS (Version 3.1) without any success? Does version 4 support it? Any other products I can try? For example, you can download Dictionaries in specific formats (e.g. XML) for use in word games.   Hi, I'm creating a multi-tabbed .NET application that allows the user to dynamically add and remove tabs at runtime. When a new tab is added, a control is added to it (as a child), in which the contents can be edited (eg. a text box). The user can perform tasks on the currently visible text box using a toolbar/menu bar. To better explain this, look at the picture below to see an example of what I want to accomplish. It's just a mock-up, so it doesn't actually work that way, but it shows what I want to get done. Essentially, like a multi-tabbed Notepad.   I'm in the process of making a javascript application and I want to bring that online, lets call it mydesign. I'm living in the Netherlands so mydesign.nl can be mine. Now is mydesign.com available for sale by some domain broker sales bastards. And those bastards don't accept a first bid lower than 1000$ which is a about ten times of the budget I'm willing to pay. So far so good, it's a sick business model but it's there. Now lets imagine that mydesign.nl is a huge success in the Netherlands and I'm makin tons of profits out of advertisements and other things I'm not yet aware of (I know entering the lotery gives a better chance of earning money, but lets just imagine). Is there a way (licence, legal or otherwise) to prevent the sick owners of mydesign.com to download and steal my javascript app and deploy it on their own site and take the profits of my app?

  Hello I have an asp.net application which I used some Ajax method. in some cases I open an new window ( Full Screen ) and users must work on it. the problem is , some users report me that some times new window was blank and didnt show any content , in status bar just write connecting .... and nothing else. Just when customers closed all opening browser and open again , they can view pages. this happend when users work for a while and click open new window links before the page loaded compeletly. how can I fix this problem? regards

  I am observing a weird behavior when clicking links to my ASP.NET application in MS Word 2003 / 2007 document. I have IE8 installed. When I click a link in the document the request that is sent has the user-agent IE7(!?). A new session object is created. Right after that out of nowhere a second request appears this time having user-agent IE8. More over, when I click anything on the requested page, a new session object is once again created, so I cannot rely on anything that has been persisted in the session. Why is it like that?

• Programming an IPTV application- Client/Server

  I am part of a team which has been given a task to deploy an IPTV solution for a company. The system has been architect-ed like this. There is Video capture card , which receives satellite signals from a satellite receiver. This video capture card is part of a windows 7 machine. The signals need to be trans coded here and passed to a streaming server which will be received by end users. The end users will be desktop users having a C#.NET application installed to view the channels. I am confused at the choice of server software as I have multiple choices - Windows Media Server, VideoLan (VLC project), or Flash Media Server, it also supports MPEG-2 HD. My main aim to be able to stream MPEG-2 channels with HD quality and encrypt the channels at the server end so that the streams can be protected. I know reversing is possible but it wont be easy as for every naive user with wireshark snooping my streams. If any of you here has ever done such an implementation please do suggest me the best technologies I should go for. Iam open to C#,C++ and other similar languages. Any help shall be deeply appreciated. edit: End Users shall be part of Internet and not necessarily a lan, reason for this question is internet doesn't support multicast like Lan, so I need some suggestions.

  I'm writing a web app, initially meant to be stand-alone--it's essentially a survey with user-management/authentication built on Codeigniter. The company I'm doing this for wants to merge it with their main system so that it acts like a feature, or a sub-app of their website. What is the best thing for me to do? I think I could do one of two things: Finish my application, as I had planned to initially, and let them handle the merging.It would probably save me a headache. Stop where I am in development, and migrate my authentication system to theirs, migrate the payment system to use theirs, and then finish the app. In your opinion, or experience, what is the best thing to do?

• ProGuard breaks Java application - no text, no images

  I'm trying to use ProGuard to obfuscate a Java application. I'm experiencing a problem where all of my text and images disappear from the GUI (Swing) forms. I've tried disabling optimizations and including more libraries, but nothing seems to be working. I've inspected the output generated by the obfuscator with a decompiler, and my resource paths seem to still be correct. Do I need to be including more core Java libraries outside of jre/lib/rt.jar? Are there more settings I should disable? ...other suggestions? Thanks.

Even though in all my NIB files they are set to landscape.

• Recreating iPhone stock application with nested views

  I am trying to create an app similar to the Yahoo Stocks app that comes on the iPhone, with the split-screen interface (table on the top, graph on the bottom). I'm struggling with the view hierarchy. What is the easiest way to implement a split-screen type of application. I basically want two views nested in a parent view. My problem is a little bit more complex because I want functionality like having a uipagecontrol (does this require another viewcontroller, or is simply implemented in the initial view controller)? To what degree do I need to use IB? I would prefer to do this all in Xcode. Thanks in advance!
