  • get data from gridview without querying database

    Hi there I am new at this so please bear with me... I have managed to get the following code to work...so when I click on the "select" link in each row of the gridview, the data is transfered to other label/textbox on the webpage. So far so good, the thing is that everytime I click on select...it goes and checks on the database for the data and there is a delay of a few seconds... I was hoping that the data, since it is already visible on the gridrows, is simply "picked up" and used on other labels/textboxes...without requerying the database. Is this possible ?     Currently we have a body of code that allows service plugins which offer forms of communication to the core e.g tcp/ip, udp/ip, usb, etc... These service plugins feedback notifier class instances to the core for further processing. In the current implementation a service project (which is a separate dynamically linked library brought in at runtime by the core via dlopen and friends) will compile against the notifier.cpp file that resides in the core source code (a separate project). This gives access to the notifiers method implementations. This works perfectly no complaints. Two alternative options: 1. put the notifier method implementations in the header file. 2. declare the notifier methods virtual and delay binding until runtime. Avoiding the issues of computational overhead what are the impacts of option 2? Are there any other options available to us? Thanks

Writing code that takes the text, splits it by whitespace or newlines or something, then processes each line and has a dictionary for variables. Or writing code that takes text and converts it to another programming language. I'm trying to use lxml cleaner to clean out a couple of html pages, so in the end i am just left with the text and nothing else - but try as i might, the above doesnt appear to work as such, i'm still left with a substial amount of markup (and it doesnt appear to be broken html), and particularly links, which aren't getting removed, despite the args i use in remove_tags and links=True any idea whats going on, perhaps im barking up the wrong tree with lxml ? i thought this was the way to go with html parsing in python?

  • How to know if a PDF contains only images or has been OCR scanned for searching?

    I have a bunch of PDF files that came from scanned documents. The files contain a mix of images and text. Some were scanned as images with no OCR, so each PDF page is one large image, even where the whole page is entirely text. Others were scanned with OCR and contain images and searchable text where text is present. In many cases even words in the images were made searchable. I want to make an automated process to recognize the text in all of the scanned documents using OCR, with Acrobat 8 Pro, but I don't want to re-OCR the files that have already been through the OCR process in the past. Does anyone know if there is a way to tell which ones contain only images, and which ones already contain searchable text? I'm planning on doing this in C# or VB.NET but I don't think being able to tell the two kinds of files apart is language dependent.

I would like to make this control act like a text box with cursors and features like typing in from keyboard. Right now I use an invisible text box with a formattedtext control to act like that. But the cursor position always creates a problem when the size of the text is not equal to the size of the rendered text as shape. Can anyone please show the way to achieve this.

  • Is there a point to have multiple VS projects for an ASP.NET MVC application?

    I'm developing MVC application where I currently have 3 projects in solution. Core (it is supposed to be for Repositories, Business Classes, Models, HttpModules, HttpFilters, Settings, etc.) Data access (Data provider, for instance SqlDataProvider for working with SQL Server datastore - implements Repository interfaces, XmlDataProvider - also implements Repository interfaces but for local XML files as datastore) ASP.NET MVC project (all the typical stuff, UI, controllers, content, scripts, resources and helpers). I have no Models in my ASP.NET MVC project. I've just run into a problem because of that coz I want to use the new DataAnnotation feature in MVC 2 on my Bussiness class, which are, as said in Core, however I have I want to be able to localize the error messages. This where my problem starts. I cannot use my Resources from MVC project in Core. The MVC project references Core and it cannot be vice-versa. My options as I see them are: 1) Move Resources out but this would require correcting a whole bunch of Views and Controllers where I reference them, 2) Make a complete restructure of my app What are your thoughts on this? Also, Should I just move everything business related into Models folder in MVC project?? Does it even make any sense to have it structured like that, because we can just make subfolders for everything under MVC project? The whole Core library is not intended to ever be used for anything else, so there actually no point of compiling it to a separate DLL. Suggestions appreciated.

  • Creating a textarea with auto-resize

    There was another thread about this, which I've tried. But there is one problem: the textarea doesn't shrink if you delete the content. I can't find any way to shrink it to the correct size - the clientHeight value comes back as the full size of the textarea, not its contents. The code from that page is below.   • focus() jQuery function doesn't work in Safari, but works fine on all other browsers?

    I have a search text field and search button, when button is clicked with default text in text field, or null value, an alert pops up and sets focus back on search text field. This works very well on all major browsers but not in safari. I tried it even with out jquery, but didn't work. When the focus falls on search text field, I have another jQuery function, is that the problem.     I am trying to create a table to only has a foreign key, not a primary key. I am getting this error: java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: column '_id' does not exist I read a tutorial that the primary key must be _id, with no explanation. And that is fine. But what if I do not want a primary key! What if I only want a foreign key. I am assuming this is where my problem lies. The schemas below are what I have.   • Drivers for NVIDIA 520M not working in Ubuntu 12.04

    I am aware that this is nominally a duplicate question, however I've read the other questions and haven't been able to resolve my problem after many hours and attempts, so please don't delete it. Additionally, it seems like many answers to the other questions are specifically dependent on certain situations. My situation being different from the others I found represented, here's my question. Until last night, I had Ubuntu 12.04 installed with Wubi, and it ran ok, though slowly and with occasional hangs. So I partitioned the drive and installed 12.04 in its own partition. Now when I start it, I am stuck using 2D. I believe this is an NVIDIA bug. My NVIDIA card is a GT 520M and my machine has Optimus. Additional Drivers only displays my wireless driver. Going to System Settings Details Graphics shows Driver:Unknown, Experience:Standard. I downloaded the driver from the NVIDIA website, and ran the installer with no errors, except that the "distribution-provided pre-install script failed". After rebooting, my screen was stuck at 640X480, which was fixed by editing /etc/X11/xorg.conf However, I still was stuck in 2D, and nothing else had changed either. A thread suggested something called Bumblebee. I tried that, and when I ran optirun firefoxI got a frozen blank screen. Following another suggestion, I checked the BIOS to try and disable Optimus. I found and ran myriad other commands to try and fix the problem and nothing changed. Now I have just done a clean re-install of Ubuntu. From there, I: Installed all the updates Downloaded the NVIDIA driver Installed it Got screen stuck at 640X480, fixed in xorg.conf. To recap the problem: I can't get the NVIDIA drivers working I am stuck using 2D I'm an idiot I think if the first one is solved, the solution to the second will naturally follow. If you need me to provide any other information, I'd be happy to.
