  • Structuring Win32 GUI code

    - by kraf
    I wish to improve my code and file structure in larger Win32 projects with plenty of windows and controls. Currently, I tend to have one header and one source file for the entire implementation of a window or dialog. This works fine for small projects, but now it has come to the point where these implementations are starting to reach 1000-2000 lines, which is tedious to browse. A typical source file of mine looks like this: static LRESULT CALLBACK on_create(const HWND hwnd, WPARAM wp, LPARAM lp) { setup_menu(hwnd); setup_list(hwnd); setup_context_menu(hwnd); /* clip */ return 0; } static LRESULT CALLBACK on_notify(HWND hwnd, UINT msg, WPARAM wp, LPARAM lp) { const NMHDR* header = (const NMHDR*)lp; /* At this point I feel that the control's event handlers doesn't * necessarily belong in the same source file. Perhaps I could move * each control's creation code and event handlers into a separate * source file? Good practice or cause of confusion? */ switch (header->idFrom) { case IDC_WINDOW_LIST: switch (header->code) { case NM_RCLICK: return on_window_list_right_click(hwnd, wp, lp); /* clip */ } } } static LRESULT CALLBACK wndmain_proc(HWND hwnd, UINT msg, WPARAM wp, LPARAM lp) { switch (msg) { case WM_CREATE: return on_create(hwnd, wp, lp); case WM_CLOSE: return on_close(hwnd, wp, lp); case WM_NOTIFY: return on_notify(hwnd, wp, lp); /* It doesn't matter much how the window proc looks as it just forwards * events to the appropriate handler. */ /* clip */ default: return DefWindowProc(hwnd, msg, wp, lp); } } But now as the window has a lot more controls, and these controls in turn have their own message handlers, and then there's the menu click handlers, and so on... I'm getting lost, and I really need advice on how to structure this mess up in a good and sensible way. I have tried to find good open source examples of structuring Win32 code, but I just get more confused since there are hundreds of files, and within each of these files that seem GUI related, the Win32 GUI code seems so far encapsulated away. And when I finally find a CreateWindowEx statement, the window proc is nowhere to be found. Any advice on how to structure all the code while remaining sane would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! I don't wish to use any libraries or frameworks as I find the Win32 API interesting and valuable for learning. Any insight into how you structure your own GUI code could perhaps serve as inspiration.

  • ASP.NET GridView Sort?

    - by Curtis White
    I'm performing a query with a sort in the Selecting event of the LinqDataSource. I'm then casting my query to a list and assigning it to the result. I'm using this data source in an ASP.NET gridview. I can see the list is sorted but when the ASP.NET gridview does not seem to be respecting the sort order. How can I get the gridview to respect my default sort order?

  • format dojo DataGrid header row

    - by Alan Seiden
    I want to assign a background color to my programmatically created Dojo DataGrid's header row. I've tried to override the defaults by adding .dojoxGridHeader or .dojoxGrid-Header to my style sheet, but these have no effect. Is there another way, such as with a Dojo event or property? If my style sheet is the only way to go, am I using the wrong class? Thanks! Alan

  • jQuery mousemove performance

    - by Colby77
    Hi, When I bind a mousemove event to an element it is working smoothly with every browser except Internet Explorer. With IE the CPU usage is way too much and some associated things (eg. tooltip) are ugly. Is there any way I could rid of the performance problem? (yeah I know, don't use IE :))

Here is my html: {% if poll.privacy == "own" and request.user.get_profile.parliment != poll.location %} You do not have permission to vote this. {% else %} {% if has_vote %} {% if poll.rating_option == '1to5' %} <div class="rate"> <div id="poll-rate-{{ poll.pk }}"></div> </div> {% else %} Thanks for your vote. {% endif %} {% else %} {% if poll.rating_option == 'yes_no' %} <a href="javascript:void(0)" class="rate btn btn-xs btn-success mr5 vote-positive" rel="{% url 'vote_vote' poll.pk 1 %}" alt="{{ poll.pk }}">Yes</a> <a href="javascript:void(0)" class="rate btn btn-xs btn-danger vote-negative" rel="{% url 'vote_vote' poll.pk 0 %}" alt="{{ poll.pk }}">No</a> {% elif poll.rating_option == 'like_dislike' %} <a href="javascript:void(0)" class="rate btn btn-xs btn-success mr5 vote-positive" rel="{% url 'vote_vote' poll.pk 1 %}" alt="{{ poll.pk }}">Like</a> <a href="javascript:void(0)" class="rate btn btn-xs btn-danger vote-negative" rel="{% url 'vote_vote' poll.pk 0 %}" alt="{{ poll.pk }}">Dislike</a> {% elif poll.rating_option == '1to5' %} <div class="rate"> <div id="poll-rate-{{ poll.pk }}"></div> </div> {% endif %} {% endif %} {% endif %} and here is my javascript: function bindVoteHandler() { $('a.vote-positive, a.vote-negative').click(function(event) { event.preventDefault(); var link = $(this).attr('rel'); var poll_pk = $(this).attr('alt'); var selected_div = $(this).parent('div'); selected_div.html('<img src="{{ STATIC_URL }}img/loading_small.gif" />'); $.ajax(link).done(function( data ) { var result_div = $('div#vote-result-'+poll_pk); result_div.html(data); result_div.removeClass('vote-result-grey-out'); selected_div.html('<small>Thanks for your vote.</small>'); }); }); }; did anyone know what is the problem why i need to refresh my page after Like/Vote/rate to make it become (Thanks For your vote) ? please someone know help or share link with me.   • Dynamically adding values to a form with JQuery/Javascript

    - by bigstylee
    I am creating a private message system to allow users to communicate between one another within the context of the website (ie, not emails). I have created this function to handle all my form submissions. I would like to achieve a solution without modifying this function (ideally). $("form.reload").submit(function(){ alert($(this).serialize()); /* Debugging */ $.post($(this).attr("action"), $(this).serialize() ,function(data){ if(data){ $("#error").html(data); }else{ location.reload(); }; }); return false; }); Within my form I am using JQuery Autocomplete to find usernames. This function works perfectly. My first solution was to add buttons within the form with the necessary values. select: function(event, ui) { $("#message_to").append("<input type=\"button\" class=\"recipient\" name=\"recipients[]\" value=\"" + ui.item.label + "\" onclick=\"$(this).remove()\" />"); } <form method="post" action="/messages-create"> <div id="message_to"></div> </div> For some reason the values of recipients are not getting posted. My second solution was to add to a post array that already existed in the form select: function(event, ui) { $(input[name=recipeients[]).val = ui.item.label; /* Need to add to array, not replace! */ $("#message_to").append("<input type=\"button\" class=\"recipient\" name=\"recipient\" value=\"" + ui.item.label + "\" onclick=\"$(this).remove(); /* Remove from recipients */\" />"); } <form method="post" action="/messages-create" class="reload"> <input type="hidden" name="recipients[]" value="" /> <div id="message_to"></div> </div> This works ok, but I have been unable to work out how to append to the recipients[] array only replace with the new label. Moving on from this, I also need to know how to then remove this value from the array. Thanks in advance!

  • Animating gradient displays line artifacts in ActionScript

    - by TheDarkIn1978
    i've programatically created a simple gradient (blue to red) sprite rect using my own basic class called GradientRect, but moving or animation the sprite exhibits line artifacts. when the sprite is rotating, it kind of resembles bad reception of an old television set. i'm almost certain the cause is because each line slice of the gradient is vector so there are gaps between the lines - this is visible when the sprite is zoomed in. var colorPickerRect:GradientRect = new GradientRect(200, 200, 0x0000FF, 0xFF0000); addChild(colorPickerRect); colorPickerRect.cacheAsBitmap = true; colorPickerRect.x = colorPickerRect.y = 100; colorPickerRect.addEventListener(Event.ENTER_FRAME, rotate); function rotate(evt:Event):void { evt.target.rotation += 1; } ________________________ //CLASS PACKAGE package { import flash.display.CapsStyle; import flash.display.GradientType; import flash.display.LineScaleMode; import flash.display.Sprite; import flash.geom.Matrix; public class GradientRect extends Sprite { public function GradientRect(gradientRectWidth:Number, gradientRectHeight:Number, ...leftToRightColors) { init(gradientRectWidth, gradientRectHeight, leftToRightColors); } private function init(gradientRectWidth:Number, gradientRectHeight:Number, leftToRightColors:Array):void { var leftToRightAlphas:Array = new Array(); var leftToRightRatios:Array = new Array(); var leftToRightPartition:Number = 255 / (leftToRightColors.length - 1); var pixelColor:Number; var i:int; //Push arrays for (i = 0; i < leftToRightColors.length; i++) { leftToRightAlphas.push(1); leftToRightRatios.push(i * leftToRightPartition); } //Graphics matrix and lineStyle var leftToRightColorsMatrix:Matrix = new Matrix(); leftToRightColorsMatrix.createGradientBox(gradientRectWidth, 1); graphics.lineStyle(1, 0, 1, false, LineScaleMode.NONE, CapsStyle.NONE); for (i = 0; i < gradientRectWidth; i++) { graphics.lineGradientStyle(GradientType.LINEAR, leftToRightColors, leftToRightAlphas, leftToRightRatios, leftToRightColorsMatrix); graphics.moveTo(i, 0); graphics.lineTo(i, gradientRectHeight); } } } } how can i solve this problem?

  • Check for repeating dates.

    - by kylex
    I am creating a calendar in PHP and in the database have a date, let's say 6-10-10. Sometimes I have repeating events, stored as weekly repeating, so if the date is 6-10-10, and I am repeating an event every two weeks from that day (including that day) what is the best way to find dates for every two weeks from 6-10-10? For example, let's say the date is 7-8-10, how can I check to see that date meets my criteria?

  • In subform of a MS Access form, how to hide/show the vertical scroll bars as needed?

    - by PowerUser
    I have a subform in an MS Access form which is not hiding/showing the vertical scroll bars as needed. In the example picture, the vertical scroll bar is showing even though there aren't enough records to warrant vertical scrolling. How do I get the scroll bars to show only when they are needed? Do I need to add an if-then condition to the on_load event? or is there an easier option?

  • How to retrive message list from p2p

    - by cre-johnny07
    Hello friends I have a messaging system that uses p2p. Each peer has a incoming message list and a outgoing message list. What I need to do is whenever a new peer will join the mesh he will get the all the incoming messages from other peers and add those into it's own incoming message list. Now I know when I get the other peer info from I can ask them to give their own list to me. But I'm not finding the way how..? Any suggestion on this or help would be highly appreciated. I'm giving my code below.
