• Consolas Font In Vista And Win7

  I have downloaded the Consolas font from Microsoft and installed it on my Windows Vista box. Consolas is also present on my Windows 7 box. When I use PuTTY, being sure to use the same settings on both machines, the Windows 7 box can render Unicode line/box drawing characters in Consolas, but the Windows Vista box cannot. What is the relevant difference between them? If Consolas has the characters, why would they only appear on one system, and not on the other? I am logging into the same remote host each time, and I have been very carefully checking PuTTY's settings to make sure that they're the same on both machines. How can I make Consolas render Unicode line-drawing characters on Vista?

• Puppetmaster don't notice changes to site.pp

  Hi, I've just setup a new production environment with puppet. Using 0.25.4 in client/server. Ruby is at 1.8.5, CentOS 5.4. I've made a simple manifest for configuring yum-updatesd, but the puppetmaster doesn't seem to notice changes done to site.pp: err: Could not parse for environment production: Could not match 'node' at /etc/puppet/manifests/site.pp:1 err: Could not retrieve catalog from remote server: Error 400 on SERVER: Could not parse for environment production: Could not match 'node' at /etc/puppet/manifests/site.pp:1 Notice, it says line 1. But line 1 contains an import statement: # cat -n /etc/puppet/manifests/site.pp 1 import "update-notification" 2 3 node default { 4 include update-notification 5 update-notification::configure() 6 } I've tried to reboot the server, delete and recreate site.pp, start and stop puppetmaster and puppet, with no luck. What am I missing?

  I am trying to make a backup to an external HD using Robocopy. I am wondering why it makes the destination directory hidden and subsequently why I can't unhide it? Note: I'm new to the Windows command line. This is the first command I have ever passed. The command I used is: Robocopy D:\ I:\destination-directory /E /R:0 /DCOPY:T The backup worked fine, but it made the destination directory hidden. Then I tried to unhide the directory with the following command: ATTRIB -H "I:\destination-directory" /S /D and the output is: Not resetting system file -- I:\destination-directory So, Why does this Robocopy command hide the destination directory? What can I do to unhide this directory? I would like to use the command line to do this.

• Windows wait command till a system time

  I have made a batch script for backup recently. Somewhere in the middle of script I'll have to wait for some time to be reached and then resume the next line of the script. I've scheduled the script at 4:00PM and after the wait command the next line should start at exactly 5:30PM. I thought of using SLEEP command but it's not sure that the commands used before the wait command will end up at certain time(due to inconsistent file sizes) but it's sure that they will be done by 5:00 or 5:10 and next it should execute wait command which waits for certain system clock. I'm checking if there is any command that waits or sleeps until the time specified reaches the system time and resumes there after. Anybody came across this situation and how was that resolved?

  We are moving a production site to EC2/RDS Followed these instructions: http://geehwan.posterous.com/moving-a-production-mysql-database-to-amazon I have set up row-based binary logging on the production server did a: mysqldump --single-transaction --master-data=2 -C -q -u root -p backup.sql then imported to RDS instance. No dramas. Due to the size of the db, and minimal downtime requirements, I've got to update the ec2 db to the latest datas via the binlogs, and it won't let me. mysqlbinlog mysql-bin.000004 --start-position=360812488 | mysql -uroot -p -h and it says: ERROR 1227 (42000) at line 6: Access denied; you need (at least one of) the SUPER privilege(s) for this operation My guess, based on what is on line 6 of the binlog, is that it's the 'write to the BINLOG' statements in the SQL backup, and because RDS doesn't support this, it can't run these statements, or something, I don't really know. Please help.

Theres no "bla-bla deauthenticated bla" line in logread, or even a thing that points to that someone get's disconnected.. I tried to google: http://wiki.openwrt.org/doc/uci/system But it doesn't writes about loglevel. Can anyone help me find out, how to find out that someone disconnects it's wifi from the router?   Okay, so I'm trying to do something that should be rather simple but for some reason I can't quite seem to make it work. All I simply want to do is add a path to the PATH environment variable in openSuse. So far, I've edited the following line in /etc/default/su : PATH=/usr/local/bin:/bin:/usr/bin with this line : PATH=/usr/local/bin:/bin:/usr/bin:/usr/local/php/bin:/usr/local/mysql/bin Basically, all I want to do is have access to php and mysqld regardless of how I log in directly from the command prompt without having to type trailing /usr/local/php/bin/ every time. Am I even editing the right file? I'm a bit of a Linux newbie and to achieve something as trivial as this is eluding me. Server gods out there, drop be a crumb, please? :-)

• USR9108 not connecting to DSL service/not detecting carrier

  As suggested in this answer I've hooked up the phone cable to the USR9108 router. I've entered the information provided by the ISP (VPI/VCI, Username, Password etc) in the ADSL configuration section but the router does not connect to DSL service. The ASDL diagnostics fail in the first step stating that no signal was found. The same phone line when connected to ZyXEL P-660R-T1 v2 modem works successfully. Can anyone tell me how to trouble shoot this issue? Does it have something to do with 2 wire and 4 wire telephone line? PS: whats the difference between ASDL and DSL?

  Hello, I am using PLESK 9.2.3 with CentOS 5. I recently tried to change some things in the php.ini files, but i ended up clearing both files. stupid mistake! Is there a possibility i can get the content of both files back. • WinSCP putting multiple files on sftp site

  WinSCP 5.2 I wanted to put multiple files with a file extension .pgp on an sftp site. When I tested my original command line (see below) and it only placed the first *.pgp alphabetical file (D:\a.csv.pgp) on the sftp site. I tried specifying *.PGP and *.pgp without any changes - only one file (D:\a.csv.pgp) would be copied each time. I got it to work for all files only if I specified a put command for each .pgp file. Any ideas on how to put all *.pgp on the sftp site? • How to hide distribution group from "All Groups" Address Book in Outlook 2010?

  I'm working with Outlook 2010 and Exchange 2010 and while writing this post I found another post on the topic but it was for Exchange 2007. It mentioned Address List Segregation which, as it turns out, is not supported in Exchange 2010. So it seems another method is required. I've successfully hidden a distribution group from the GAL by removing the Authenticated Users group but the group is still visible in the Address Book called "All Groups". I would expect it to be hidden in all address books not just the GAL. Are there any other security groups I should remove to hide it from All Groups? To give visibility in the GAL I am manually adding the user (the group is being used for Send As purposes). In the image below the green line represents where the group is visible and the red line indicates the opposite.

  I'm a new user to GNU Screen. I've been using Bash for a very long time, and I want to give GNU Screen a try. As you know, GNU Screen uses 'C-a' (Control-A) as as the command character. Trouble is, this interferes with the Line Editing feature in Bash (and GNU Readline), because Control-A in Bash will Move to the start of the line." I know I can set the Command Character to another key sequence, like "^Q" or "``" (Backtick), but I have trouble finding another key sequence which isn't already in use (^Q is used by the terminal, backtick is used when writing shell scripts). It appears that the Command Character may only be one or two characters in length. Can I set the GNU Screen control character to be something like "Control-Shift-A"? (I can't use more then one hyperlink yet, so I cannot link to the Bash documentation)

I'm a complete beginner when it comes to this - what is happening, and how can I fix it? A search of my system for "php_msyql.dll" reveals nothing. Does it have to do with how I compiled it? I don't have the original version of php that came with the mac, I think - I may have reinstalled it somewhere along the way. Any help would be appreciated!

  This problem already has been described mutliple times in different mailing lists, but no solution has yet been published. Please update the option trac.default_handler in trac.ini. I already tried a lot to get down to the root of the problem, for me it looks as if all nativ trac components refuse to load. When one explicitely imports these components in the wsgi handler, some of them start to work somehow. Since i suspected the virtual environment, i dropped it, and manually copied all dependencies (babel, genshi, trac, ..) to one directory, and added this directory to system.path in the wsgi handler. I get exactly the same error. Since this setup is now independend from the environment, one can easily try it out on any other machine (windows or linux) running apache 2 and python 2.7. On my Windwos 7 machine, i got exactly the same problem. I zipped together the whole bundle, one can download it from http://www.xterity.de/tmp/trac-installation.zip .   I have some huge xml text files. I need to write a script to find and print a specific tag only. I tried sed and grep but they both return the whole line. Using SunOS 5.x, so not all linux commands may work. grep -o is not available. The 'xml' file is not actually one huge xml document, but each line is a separate xml document, with just a few tags, not even nested. And the structure is fairly easy, so full xml parsers is not needed, and probably would not work. I was looking for sed, awk, or some other one liners, but could not get them to work, and they are both relatively new to me.

  Hi guys, I've been stuck with a compilation problem when building a standardised virtual machine on CentOS 5.4, and I'm in the dark here as to a) why this error is occurring, and b) how to fix it, and in the hope that someone else stumbles across this problem too, I'm hoping someone can help me find the solution here. I'm getting a configure: error: newly created file is older than distributed files! error when trying to compile Ruby Enterprise like below when I try to run the installer, and the solutions offered to on the forums (of checking the tine, and touching the files to update the time associated with them) don't seem to be helping here. What steps can I take to work out what the cause of this problem?
