• Removing/modifying LDAP objectclasses/attributes using olc

  I'm having trouble using openldap's olc to modify a schema without shutting down the server. To test some things out, I made the following schema: objectIdentifier tests orgUlyssisOID:4 objectIdentifier testAttribute tests:1 objectIdentifier testObjectClass tests:2 attributeType ( testAttribute:1 NAME 'attr1' DESC 'attribuut 1' SYNTAX '1.3.6.1.4.1.1466.115.121.1.40' ) attributeType ( testAttribute:2 NAME 'attr2' DESC 'attribuut 2' SUP userPassword SINGLE-VALUE ) objectclass ( testObjectClass:1 NAME 'class1' DESC 'objectclass 1' SUP top STRUCTURAL MUST (attr1 $ attr2 ) ) And added it to a new schema called test. (cn={9}test.ldif in cn=schema). Now I can't seem to figure out how to delete class1 from that schema. • Using jQuery to Make a Field Read Only in SharePoint

  Okay… this will be my shortest blog post EVER. Very little rambling.. I promise, and I’m sure this has been blogged more than once, so I apologize for adding to the noise, but like I always say, I blog for myself so I have a global bookmark. So,let’s say you have a field on a SharePoint Form and you want to make it read only. You COULD just open it up in SPD and easily make it read only, but some people are purists and don’t like use SPD or modify the default new/edit/disp forms. Put me in the latter camp, I try to avoid modifying these forms and it seemed like such a simple task that I didn’t want to create a new un-ghosted form.  So.. how do you do it? It’s only one line of jQuery. All you need to do is find the id for your input field and capture the keypress on it so that it cannot be modified (you should probably capture clicks for dropdowns/checkboxes/etc. but I didn’t need to).  Anyway, here’s the entire script: <script src="jquery.min.js" type="text/javascript"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> jQuery(document).ready(function($){ //capture keypress on our read only field and return false $('#idOfInputField').keypress(function() { return false; }); }) </script>   You can find the ID of your input field by viewing the source, this ID stays consistent as long as you don’t muck with the list or form in the wrong way.  Please note, you CANNOT disable the input field as an alternative to capturing the keypress. If you do this and save the form, any data in the disabled fields will be wiped out. There are probably a dozen ways to make a field read-only and if all you are using jQuery for is to make a field read-only, then you might want to question your use of adding the overhead (although it’s really not that much). Hey.. it’s another tool for your tool belt.

  I'm want to use the postfix cookbook for chef. The sasl password is expected to be in an attribute. So usually you would do this: "default_attributes": { "postfix": { "sasl": { "smtp_sasl_passwd": "somepassword" } } } The thing is: I don't want to have the password in the repository in plain text. So I put it in an encrypted data bag. Now I want to access it. This can be done with this: Chef::EncryptedDataBagItem.load("passwords", "postfix")['password'] The problem: This only works in a .rb file, but my role is in json; all my roles are in json! I don't want to change that just for this purpose. Does anybody have an idea what to do here? Help is very appreciated.

  Hi all, I´m trying to inspect the types in a silverlight 4 assembly from a .NET 3.5 application. I have loaded the silverlight assembly with a Assembly.ReflectionOnlyLoadFrom sentence. contractsAssembly = Assembly.ReflectionOnlyLoadFrom(contractsAssemblyPath); When the .NET application tries to perform a call to GetTypes(), it throws a ReflectionTypeLoadException. Type[] types = contractsAssembly.GetTypes(); The LoaderExceptions property in the ReflectionTypeLoadException contains a list of exceptions, all of them regarding a problem loading a type that has serialization attributes. Type 'XXXX' in assembly 'YYYY' has method 'OnSerializing' with an incorrect signature for the serialization attribute that it is decorated with. The type XXXX has the following definitions in it: [System.Runtime.Serialization.OnSerializing] public void OnSerializing(System.Runtime.Serialization.StreamingContext context) [System.Runtime.Serialization.OnSerialized] public void OnSerialized(System.Runtime.Serialization.StreamingContext context) [System.Runtime.Serialization.OnDeserializing] public void OnDeserializing(System.Runtime.Serialization.StreamingContext context) [System.Runtime.Serialization.OnDeserialized] public void OnDeserialized(System.Runtime.Serialization.StreamingContext context) I have tried changing the method signature to internal or private, but with no luck. However, I see that .NET tools such as Reflector can inspect this Silverlight assembly, so there is a way to inspect Silverlight assemblies with serialization attributes from a .NET applciation.   Hello people, I have two models with a HABTM association, let´s say book and author. class Book has_and_belongs_to_many :authors end class Author has_and_belongs_to_many :books end The author has a set of attributes (e.g. first-name,last-name,age) that can all be blank (see validation). validates_length_of :first_name, :maximum => 255, :allow_blank => true, :allow_nil => false In the books_controller, I do the following to append all authors to a book in one step: @book = Book.new(params[:book]) @book.authors.build(params[:book][:authors].values) My question: What would be the easiest way to avoid the saving of authors which fields are all blank to prevent too much "noise" in the database? At the moment, I do the following: validate :must_have_some_data def must_have_some_data empty = true hash = self.attributes hash.delete("created_at") hash.delete("updated_at") hash.each_value do |value| empty = false if value.present? end if (empty) errors.add_to_base("Fields do not contain any data.") end end Maybe there is an more elegant, Rails-like way to do that.   Is it possible to have event delegation using the HTML5 data attributes in MooTools? The HTML structure I have is: ?<div id="parent"> <div>not selectable</div> <div data-selectable="true">selectable</div> <div>not selectable either.</div> <div data-selectable="true">also selectable</div> </div>???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????? And I want to setup <div id="parent"> to listen to all clicks only on child elements that have the data-selected attribute. Please let me know if I'm doing something wrong: The events are being setup as: $("parent").addEvent("click:relay([data-selectable])", function(event, el) { alert(this.get('text')); }); but the click callback is fired on clicking all div's, not just the ones with a data-selectable attribute defined. You can see this example on http://jsfiddle.net/NUGD4/ A workaround is to adding this as a CSS class, which works with delegation but I would prefer to be able to use data-attributes as it's used throughout the application.

• Access and modify attributes/objects which are not part of the form backing bean

  I use Spring MVC (via Spring Roo) to build a small web application for administering persons. In the page for creating a person the bean Person is used as form backing object (key "person" in the model map). <form:form action="${form_url}" method="POST" modelAttribute="person"> I would like to add some attributes to the model map which can be altered by the user in the creation form. Basically, I try to add a Boolean, so that I can control which page is displayed next after the user presses the submit button. I try to modify the Boolean (key "myBoolean" in the model map) using a simple checkbox: <form:checkbox id="_myboolean_id" path="myBoolean"/> However, as I am new to Spring MVC I have some difficulties here. The Boolean object is not an attribute of the form backing object. So if I try to access it the following exception is thrown (of course): Invalid property 'myBoolean' of bean class [de.cm.model.Person]: Bean property 'myBoolean' is not readable or has an invalid getter method: Does the return type of the getter match the parameter type of the setter? Is there are way to access a value of the model map directly? The only solution I can imagine right now is a kind of wrapper object around the class Person and my additional attributes which is used as a new form backing object. However, this is more work for a IMHO simple task. Do you have a better solution?

• Django internationalization for admin pages - translate model name and attributes

  Django's internationalization is very nice (gettext based, LocaleMiddleware), but what is the proper way to translate the model name and the attributes for admin pages? I did not find anything about this in the documentation: http://docs.djangoproject.com/en/dev/topics/i18n/internationalization/ http://www.djangobook.com/en/2.0/chapter19/ I would like to have "???????? ????? ??? ?????????" instead of "???????? order ??? ?????????". Note, the 'order' is not translated. First, I defined a model, activated USE_I18N = True in settings.py, run django-admin makemessages -l ru. No entries are created by default for model names and attributes. Grepping in the Django source code I found: $ ack "Select %s to change" contrib/admin/views/main.py 70: self.title = (self.is_popup and ugettext('Select %s') % force_unicode(self.opts.verbose_name) or ugettext('Select %s to change') % force_unicode(self.opts.verbose_name)) So the verbose_name meta property seems to play some role here. Tried to use it: class Order(models.Model): subject = models.CharField(max_length=150) description = models.TextField() class Meta: verbose_name = _('order') Now the updated po file contains msgid 'order' that can be translated. So I put the translation in. Unfortunately running the admin pages show the same mix of "???????? order ??? ?????????". I'm currently using Django 1.1.1. Could somebody point me to the relevant documentation? Because google can not. ;-) In the mean time I'll dig deeper into the django source code...

  I'm storing some very basic information "data sources" coming into my application. These data sources can be in the form of a document (e.g. PDF, etc.), audio (e.g. MP3, etc.) or video (e.g. AVI, etc.). Say, for example, I am only interested in the filename of the data source. Thus, I have the following table: DataSource Id (PK) Filename For each data source, I also need to store some of its attributes. Example for a PDF would be "numbe of pages." Example for audio would be "bit rate." Example for video would be "duration." Each DataSource will have different requirements for the attributes that need to be stored. So, I have modeled "data source attribute" this way: DataSourceAttribute Id (PK) DataSourceId (FK) Name Value Thus, I would have records like these: DataSource->Id = 1 DataSource->Filename = 'mydoc.pdf' DataSource->Id = 2 DataSource->Filename = 'mysong.mp3' DataSource->Id = 3 DataSource->Filename = 'myvideo.avi' DataSourceAttribute->Id = 1 DataSourceAttribute->DataSourceId = 1 DataSourceAttribute->Name = 'TotalPages' DataSourceAttribute->Value = '10' DataSourceAttribute->Id = 2 DataSourceAttribute->DataSourceId = 2 DataSourceAttribute->Name = 'BitRate' DataSourceAttribute->Value '16' DataSourceAttribute->Id = 3 DataSourceAttribute->DataSourceId = 3 DataSourceAttribute->Name = 'Duration' DataSourceAttribute->Value = '1:32' My problem is that this doesn't seem to scale. For example, say I need to query for all the PDF documents along with thier total number of pages: Filename, TotalPages 'mydoc.pdf', '10' 'myotherdoc.pdf', '23' ... The JOINs needed to produce the above result is just too costly. How should I address this problem?

  I am trying to write a MSBuild logger module which logs information when receiving TaskStarted events about the Task and its parameters. The build is run with the command: MSBuild.exe /logger:MyLogger.dll build.xml Within the build.xml is a sequence of tasks, most of which have been custom written to compile a (C++ or C#) solution, and are accessed with the following custom Task: <DoCompile Desc="Building MyProject 1" Param1="$(Param1Value)" /> <DoCompile Desc="Building MyProject 2" Param1="$(Param1Value)" /> <!-- etc --> The custom build task DoCompile is defined as: public class DoCompile : Microsoft.Build.Utilities.Task { [Required] public string Description { set { _description = value; } } // ... more code here ... } Whilst the build is running, as each task starts, the logger module receives IEventSource.TaskStarted events, subscribed to as follows: public class MyLogger : Microsoft.Build.Utilities.Logger { public override void Initialize(Microsoft.Build.Framework.IEventSource eventSource) { eventSource.TaskStarted += taskStarted; } private void taskStarted(object sender, Microsoft.Build.Framework.TaskStartedEventArgs e) { // write e.TaskName, attributes and e.Timestamp to log file } } The problem I have is that in the taskStarted() method above, I want to be able to access the attributes of the task for which the event was fired. I only have access to the logger code and cannot change either the build.xml or the custom build tasks. Can anyone suggest a way I can do this?

• Multiple jQuery.noConflict() instances...

  I am working with several jQuery scripts that include a MenuFader (http://css-tricks.com/examples/MenuFader/), twitter feed, and timestamp. Additionally I have a couple Mootools scripts that include the Barackslideshow (http://devthought.com/wp-content/moogets/BarackSlideshow/demo.html). And finally I have a scrolling ticker with tooltips taken from the twitter homepage. I originally had a conflict with the Jquery MenuFader and Mootools BarackSlideshow, but easily fixed this issue with the jQuery.noconflict(); and replaced all corresponding $ with jQuery. Unfortunately, after I added the scrolling ticker from Twitter, the Mootools BarackSlideshow and the Jquery MenuFader no longer work. I tried to implement jQuery.noconflict(); then $.noconflict(); then var j = jQuery.noconflict(); and replacing the $ as I did previously, but I cannot get the scripts to play nicely. Any help is greatly appreciated...I have been working on this all day. I am pretty new with javascript, but have managed to get through most problems with a little persistence. • Matching on search attributes selected by customer on front end

  I have a method in a class that allows me to return results based on a certain set of Customer specified criteria. The method matches what the Customer specifies on the front end with each item in a collection that comes from the database. In cases where the customer does not specify any of the attributes, the ID of the attibute is passed into the method being equal to 0 (The database has an identity on all tables that is seeded at 1 and is incremental). In this case that attribute should be ignored, for example if the Customer does not specify the Location then customerSearchCriteria.LocationID = 0 coming into the method. • Using SimpleDB (with SimpleSavant) with POCO / existing entities, not attributes on my classes

  I'm trying to use Simple Savant within my application, to use SimpleDB I currently have (for example) public class Person { public Guid Id { get; set; } public string Name { get; set; } public string Description { get; set; } public DateTime DateOfBirth { get; set; } } To use this with Simple Savant, i'd have to put attributes above the class declaration, and property - [DomainName("Person")] above the class, and [ItemName] above the Id property. I have all my entities in a seperate assembly. I also have my Data access classes an a seperate assembly, and a class factory selects, based on config, the IRepository (in this case, IRepository I want to be able to use my existing simple class - without having attributes on the properties etc.. In case I switch out of simple db, to something else - then I only need to create a different implementation of IRepository. Should I create a "DTO" type class to map the two together? Is there a better way?

• How to get attributes from both relative and absolute positioning

  I have a footer that i want to attach to the bottom of the page using bottom:0px. However, I also want to center it by using margin-left:auto; and margin-right:auto;. Effectively, this will stick the footer to the bottom of the page while keeping it centered vertically. Unfortunately, these cannot be used together as bottom:0px requires position:relative while margin-left:auto and margin-right:auto require position:absolute. How can I get both of these attributes onto the same div without creating a container? If not possible, what is a clean way of getting both these attributes?
