  • How do I tell gdb how long my zero-length array is?

    Slightly oxymoronic title! Bonus points for Xcode answer but it's a gdb question. If I have a standard, statically sized array gdb will print all its elements [and Xcode will let me browse through it] but if I have a zero length array, it won't, because it doesn't know. Obviously I can print the array indexes one by one, but I'd like a dump of the whole thing. How do I tell gdb how much space I have allocated for the array to allow it to print the array (or to allow Xcode to view the array). Is it even possible?

  • Appverifier and Visual Studio for leak detection

    Hi, I'm running Appverifier in an application. When it detects a memory leaks the logs saids "Address of the leaked allocation. Run !heap -p -a to get additional information about the allocation." I guess that's when you are running in Windbg, is there any way to access the allocation stack trace from inside Visual Studio ?

    I have a DB schema composed of MYISAM tables, i am interested to delete old records from time to time from some of the tables. I know that delete does not reclaim the memory space, but as i found in a description of DELETE command, inserts may reuse the space deleted In MyISAM tables, deleted rows are maintained in a linked list and subsequent INSERT operations reuse old row positions. I am interested if LOAD DATA command also reuses the deleted space? UPDATE I am also interested how the index space reclaimed?

  • Log your SQL in Rails application inside unit test

    I want to install a logger so that I can dump all executed SQL of my rails application. Problem is, such logger is associated with AbstractAdapter which initialized very soon under test mode, and thus cannot be set by my initializer code. I try to put ActiveRecord::Base.logger = MyCustomLogger.new(STDOUT) in the end of environment.rb like someone advised but it only works when being run in console environment (kicked by script/console), not when run under test mode. I wonder if there is any way to config such logger so that I will sure to be invoked under any environment (test, development, production, console)

    So I'm working on migrating some data to a new server. In the new server, each entry in the MAIN table is assigned a new GUID when the transfer takes place. A few other tables must be migrated, and their records must link to the GUID in the MAIN table. Example... WorksheetID --- GUID 1245677903 --- 1 AccidentID --- WorksheetID --- Guid 12121412 --- 1245677903 --- 1 The guid is used moreso for versioning purposes, but my question is this. In SSIS, is there any way to pull the Worksheet's GUID from the destination database and assign it directly to the entries in the 'Accident' table? Or do I have to just dump the data into the source DB and run some scripts to get everything nicely referenced? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • dojo dgrid tree, subrows in wrong position

    I have a dgrid, working with tree column plugin. Every time that the user click on the tree, I call the server, catch the subrows(json) and bind it. But when it happens, these subrows are show in wrong position, like the image bellow. The most strange is when I change the pagination, after go back to first page, the subrows stay on the correct place.     Hi All I have a Text File (Sorry, I'm not allowed to work on XML files :(), and it includes customer records. Each text file looks like: Account_ID: 98734BLAH9873 User Name: something_85 First Name: ILove Last Name: XML Age: 209 etc... And I need to be able to use LINQ to get the data from these text files and just store them in memory. I have seen many Linq to SQL, Linq to BLAH but nothing for Linq to Text.     Im creating a download speed test, and im downloading a 800megabit file to a Byte[] in a memory stream with webClient.DownloadDataAsync(new Uri(link), memStreamArray); How can i check how many bits are in the memStreamArray while downloading? I need this so i can do a calculation on size / time to get the speed in realtime. Im planing on performing this calculation in the webClient.DownloadProgressChanged event.

    I have a one-time process (hashing all our user passwords) written using datasets. The performance needs improvement so we've profiled the application and found that increasing the 'batch size' of the update will improve performance. I also know that if I load the entire data set into memory the application will start hitting swap and slow down. The question is: how big is a System.Data.DataRow derived class? I'd like to calculate a batch size which I know won't force the application into swap.

    Hi, I was using Sonar to make my code cleaner, and it pointed that I'm using new Integer(1) instead of Integer.valueOf(1). Because it seems that valueOf does not instantiate a new object so is more memory-friendly. How can valueOf not instantiate a new object ? How does it work ? Is this true for all integers ? thanks.

The program is a complex one, I am sure that no part will touch a, and b. My question is, will the runtime(garbage collector) to collect the memory of "a" and then assign a and b to null?
