• Incorporating MIT/X11 licensed code into project

  I'm rewriting a small MIT-licensed program in C, and I intend to copy a segment from it (though not verbatim) that prints usage information and such things. The programs are going to behave, for the most part, the same, but the implementations are going to be much different. What is the best way to incorporate this code into my program, whether it's licensed under Apache 2, GPLv2/3, or under the MIT license? My guess is that for the first two listed I'd just add the original authors name to the NOTICE file along with relevant information and paste the license header as a comment above the derived code, and for the latter I'd just add the original author's copyright statement above my own.

• mysql select from a table depending on in which table the data is in

  I have 3 tables holding products for a restaurant. Products that reside in the bar, food and ingredients. I use php and mysql. I have another table that holds information about the orders that have been made so far. There are 2 fields, the most important ones, that hold information about the id of the product and the type (from the bar, from the kitchen or from the ingredients). I was thinking to write the sql query like below to use either the table for bar products, kitchen or ingredients but it doesn't work. Basically the second table on join must be either "bar", "produse" or "stoc". • How can I programmatically obtain the company info used to digitally sign an assembly in .NET?

  As a means of simple security, I was previously checking the digital signature of a downloaded update package for my program against its public key to ensure that it originated from me. However, as I'm using cheap code signing certs (Tucows), I am unable to renew an existing cert and therefore the keys change every time I need to renew. Therefore, a more reliable means would be to verify the organization information embedded in the signed assembly (which is displayed in the UAC dialog) against my well-known organization string, as this will continue to be the same. Does anyone know how to obtain this information from a digitally-signed assembly?

  Hello, guys. How to get/set the hours and minutes via code from a UIDatePicker in UIDatePickerModeCountDownTimer mode? The situation: I have an interface in that a user selects just hours and minutes. Then, he saves the information (so, I have to get the hours and minutes from UIDatePicker via code to save in a DB). When the user is editing the information saved previously, I want to start the interface with the saved hours/minutes (so, I have to set the UIDatePicker hours and minutes retrieved from DB via code). • Ask a DNS server what sites it hosts - and how to possibly prevent misuse

  I've got a server which I host my company website as well as some of my clients. I noticed a domain which I created, but never used, was being attacked by a poke and hope hacker. I imagine that the hacker collected the domain from either hitting my DNS server and requesting what domains are hosted. So, in the interest of prevention and better server management, how would I ask my own DNS server (Linux CentOS 4) what sites are being hosted on it? Also, is there a way to prevent these types of attacks by hiding this information? I would assume that DNS servers would need to keep some information public, but I'm not sure if there is something that most hosts do to help prevent these bandwidth wasting poke and hope attacks.   Has anybody some information about accessing Lotus Domino server to fetch entire mail contents by http(s) requests from php linux server? The article by Andrei Kouvchinnikov describes well how to fetch message list in notes mail folders; after obtaining session id during login one can for example select top 100 messages by calling: https://your.server.domain/mail_db/mailbox.nsf/($Inbox)?ReadViewEntries&Start=1&Count=100 And this works perfectly. The arises when I am trying to get message contents (0A1DA5EEB7B65277C12576F50055D811 is an example message unique Id): https://your.server.domain/mail_db/mailbox.nsf/($Inbox)/0A1DA5EEB7B65277C12576F50055D811/?OpenDocument Such request in IE shows frameset with data hard to parse, in less common browsers like Opera it informs about unsupported browser. Ideally if it is possible to fetch notes message contents and all attachments by requesting it in the url, has anybody some information what request would it be?   Hi All, I have question on the Android API. Android API provides a class called "Instrumentation" class. What is the use of this class? Is the Instrumentation class be used only together with Junit for unit testing. Can Junit framework can be used to test the methods of the Android API without using the Instrumentation class. Since Junit package has been included in the Android package, I hope we dont need to use install separately for unit testing. I would appreciate if you could provide me the information as i can't find these clear information anywhere on the Web. • dotnetnuke iis 6 problem

  i went to the root dir of my website in iis 6. right clicked properties and went the documents tab. i wanted to add a document extension to the list. when i clicked apply i received an inheritance override (UNCPassword and DefaultDoc) pop up showing many dnn files. i clicked cancel in both pop ups and then okay to apply the new document extension. now all my pages only pull up the home page information in dotnetnuke. the url changes in the address bar but only home page information is displayed. what could i have done to break dotnetnuke? are there some inheritance parameters needed? if so can i revert? thanks in advance.

  In an asp.net application, we'd like to use the SqlWebEventProvider to log any Event that occurs during the application lifetime. The problem is that we think that the table aspnet_WebEvent_Event doesn't provide enough columns and should log more information (we need to keep the Logged user). I'm aware that this information could be stored in the "Details" column but it wouldn't then be really simple to filter the results and build reports. So I'm searching for a simple solution to add a column. I wish I could derive SqlWebEventProvider but the methods used to build the stocked procedure parameters are private (PrepareParams() and FillParams()). Any simple solution that doesn't imply to rewrite the entire Provider class ?

  Where can I find some good information on the new client-side validation functionality included in ASP.NET MVC v2? I'd like to find information about using the client-side validation JavaScript without using DataAnnotations, and I'd like to find out how custom validations are handled. For example, if I want to validate two fields together, how would I utilize the provided JavaScript? Or if I wanted to write validation code on the server-side that queried a database, how could I use the provided JavaScript to implement a similar validation? I don't see any books on MVC2 yet, and the blog entries I've found are not detailed enough.

• NuGet: "Unable to load one or more of the requested types"

  I installed NuGet into Visual Web Developer 2010 Express, but when I go to Solution Explorer, right-click on a project's "References" folder, and select "Add Library Package Reference", I immediately get this error: Unable to load one or more of the requested types. Retrieve the LoaderExceptions property for more information. There's just an OK button, and no way for me to retrieve the additional information it's telling me about. This is a fresh install of NuGet; I've never installed it on this computer before. How can I fix and/or diagnose this error so I can get NuGet to work?

  Hi, I'm learning about SNMP, and writing some applications using it. I have some basic questions about the protocol: Do the agents store its state on the device itself? If there is a trap set on an agent, can you do a poll on the same OID to get the same information? Without using a mib file, is there a way to query a device for all of its information at once? If not, and you're writing your own customized manager, do you have to know the structure of what it reports up front? If you're setting up an agent to report, is there usually a way to control the frequency of how often it sends a trap? Or does it usually send a trap as often as some condition is satisfied?

  Hello, I'm using Eclipse IDE + remote Xdebug. EclipseIDE is listening 9000 port for some kind of Xdebug information. There are some php scripts running by cron on server. So, every cron execution xdebug is sending information to my workstation and EclipseIDE is trying to find this file in my project. But file couldn't be find because cron running scrits do not relate to the project I'm working with. I would like the string to have the same information as my floating point variable contains, since I use the output for further processing (even if it means that the string will be very long and readable).   I have a form that contains some fields and a recaptcha box. I have hidden the recaptcha box. The user clicks "create profile" and a modal dialog pops up with the recaptcha box. All fine. But, how do I submit that information? I am using Javascript to create the recaptcha HTML in the modal. I have a button called "Create Profile" that has this code attatched to the onclick: $("#form").submit() The form data gets submitted to the create.php page, but the recaptcha info does not. Do I have to manually pass this information via the post request to create.php? Without the modal dialog it works fine. I can't understand what's going on. Any ideas?

• iPhone App not saving values to .plist file

  Hey everyone. I am working on an app that displays a modal the first time the consumer uses it. I have a .plist file that will store the information I request once the Save button is pressed. I can read from the .plist file fine and when I run my save method it SEEMS to work fine but the .plist file is not updating. I'm not so sure of the problem here. • iPhone: Core Data: Updating a pre-filled database in future app versions.

  I am creating an app with a database of information that needs to be pre-filled. This data will change in future versions. In the same database, I also need to store user editable information since that user edited data directly relates to the pre-filled data. My question is, if I'm pre-filling the database by creating a duplicate data model in a second app and copying over the core data file before release, how would I handle updates to that data in future versions of the app without destroying the user's existing data? Do the core data migration methods handle this, or must I write custom methods to programatically handle the merge at first app launch?

• Automating WebTrends analysis

  Every week I access server logs processed by WebTrends (for about 7 profiles) and copy ad clickthrough and visitor information into Excel spreadsheets. A lot of it is just accessing certain sections and finding the right title and then copying the unique visitor information. I tried using WebTrends' built-in query tool but that is really poorly done (only uses a drag-and-drop system instead of text-based) and it has a maximum number of parameters and maximum length of queries to query with. As far as I know, the tools in WebTrends are not suitable to my purpose of automating the entire web metrics gathering process. I've gotten access to the raw server logs, but it seems redundant to parse that given that they are already being processed by WebTrends. To me it seems very scriptable, but how would I go about doing that? Is screen-scraping an option?

The call returns me a LoginResult that contains a cookie name. Then I call another webservice and I need to somehow pass this cookie or a cookie name. and I don't know how. • Blank space after file extension -> weird FileInfo behaviour

  Somehow a file has appeared in one of my directories, and it has space at the end of its extension - its name is "test.txt ". The weird thing is that Directory.GetFiles() returns me the path of this file, but I'm unable to retrieve file information with FileInfo class. The error manifests here: DirectoryInfo di = new DirectoryInfo("c:\\somedir"); FileInfo fi = di.GetFileSystemInfos("test*")[0] as FileInfo; //correctly fi.FullName is "c:\somedir\test.txt " //but fi.Exists==false (!) Is FileInfo class broken? Can I somehow retrieve information about this file? I really don't know how did that file appear on my file system, and I am unable to recreate some more of them. All of my attempts to create a new file with this type of extension have failed, but now my program is crashing when encoutering it. I can easily handle the exception when finding the file, but boy am I curious about this!

  I'm developing a web app and I've come to a fork in the road with respect to database structure and I don't know which direction to take. I have a database with user information that I can structure one of two ways. The first is to create a schema and a set of tables for each user (duplicating the structure for each user) and the second is to create a single set of tables and query information based on user-id. Suppose 100000 users. Here are my questions: Considering security, performance, scalability and administration where does each choice lie? Would the answers change for 1000000 or 10000? Is there a set of best practices that lead to one choice or the other? It seems to me that multiple schemas are more secure since it's trivial to restrict user privileges but what about performance and scalability? Administration seems like a wash since dumping (and restoring) lots of schemas isn't any more difficult than dumping a few.

  Hello there, I want to open a PDF-print dialog (not regular browser dialog) without visually opening the document so that I can print a pdf without having the header and footer information from a regular webpage print. I know this is possible, because I have seen it in the past on a postal service website for printing postage labels, but cannot remember where.
