  Hi guys, I'm newbie to Java EE 6 and i'm trying to develop very simple JAX-RS application. RESTfull web service working fine. However when I ran my test application, I got the following. What have I done wrong? Or am i forget any configuration? Of course i'm create a JNDI and i'm using Netbeans 6.8 IDE. In finally, thank you for any advise.   I have the following query that I'm executing using a Python script (by using the MySQLdb module). conn=MySQLdb.connect (host = "localhost", user = "root",passwd = "<password>",db = "test") cursor = conn.cursor () preamble='set @radius=%s; set @o_lat=%s; set @o_lon=%s; '%(radius,latitude,longitude) query='SELECT *, 6371*1000 * acos(cos(radians(@o_lat)) * cos(radians(lat)) * cos(radians(lon) - radians(@o_lon)) + sin(radians(@o_lat)) * sin(radians(lat))) as distance FROM poi_table HAVING distance < @radius ORDER BY distance ASC LIMIT 0, 50' complete_query=preamble+query results=cursor.execute (complete_query) print results The values of radius, latitude, and longitude are not important, but they are being defined when the script executes. What bothers me is that the snippet of code above returns no results; essentially meaning that the way that the query is being executed is wonky. I executed the SQL query (including the set variables with actual values, and it returned the correct number of results). If I modify the query to just be a simple SELECT FROM query (SELECT * FROM poi_table) it returns results. What is going on here?

  Hi Everybody, I am using IBM-Informix for my school project as part of "Informix on-campus" ativity conduted by IBM. I am using spatial datablade to store spatial data. My spatial data table looks like, CREATE TABLE xmlTest (row_id integer NOT NULL,pre integer, post integer,parent integer,tagname varchar(40,1),point ST_POINT); Then I inserted the spatial data into the table. Now I am trying to select the 'Points' lying under given 'polygon', where the co-ordinates of the polygon are dynamic i.e co-ordinates will be decided in the 'select' query. My query is like SELECT v2.* FROM xmlTest v1,xmlTest v2 WHERE ST_Contains(ST_Polygon(ST_LineFromText('linestring (0 0, 22000 0,22000 22000,0 22000,0 0)',5)),ST_Point(v1.pre,v1.post,5)) AND v1.tagname like 'n1' AND ST_Contains(ST_Polygon(ST_LineFromText('linestring (0 0,v1.pre 0,v1.pre v1.post,0 v1.post,0 0 )',5)),ST_Point(v2.pre,v2.post,5)) AND v2.tagname like 'n2' however it is giving me error as "(USE31) - Too few points for geometry type in ST_LineFromText.", in the second linefromtext function. I checked the number of parameters for linestring function, but could not find the source of error. I think,linestring function's parameters should be fixed values and not the variable like in this query. Is it right? Then what is the alternate way, where I can specify my polygon co-ordinates dynamically? or is there any mistake in my query? I hope my question is clear. I appreciate your help!

  I've got a search form on this page: http://staging-checkpointtracker.aptanacloud.com/events If you select a State from the dropdown you get zero results because you didn't select one or more Event Division (checkboxes). What I want is to default the checkboxes to "checked" when the page first loads...to display Events in all Divisions...but I want changes made by the user to be reflected when they filter. • Revision control for writing programming lessons

  I'd like to write a series programming lessons that guide programmers to build a certain kind of program. After each lesson, I'd like to provide sample code that implements what that lesson covered, and the next lesson would use that code as a starting point. Right now I'm using Git to keep track of the code from lesson to lesson. Each lesson has its own branch. lesson1: A--B--C \ lesson2: D--E--F \ lesson3: G--H--I However, suppose that now I want to make it easier on the Windows programmers using my lessons, so I add a Visual Studio project to lesson 1 and then merge it into lessons 2 and 3. lesson1: A--B--C--------------J \ \ lesson2: D--E--F--------K \ \ lesson3: G--H--I--L And then someone points out a bug in lesson 2 that causes crashes on certain systems. (This diagram is where I am right now, and I'm having doubts about continuing along this path.) lesson1: A--B--C--------------J \ \ lesson2: D--E--F--------K--M \ \ \ lesson3: G--H--I--L--N Here are the problems I imagine having: If I had many lessons, and I fix something in lesson 1, am I going to have to spend fifteen minutes or more just merging that one simple change? I know I'll probably have to test all of those lessons again, but I can put that off. When I make a bunch of changes to various lessons on one computer, how do I pull all of the branches at the same time? If I decide to publish these lessons, I'd like a way to tag all of the branches to correspond with what I publish. I figure I'll just need to tag each branch separately, but it would be nice if there were a better way. When I look at the history, I imagine becoming terribly confused about what I've done. Compare the above diagram to a hypothetical diagram below, where I use rebase instead of merge (and rebase has its own problems): lesson1: A--B--C--J \ lesson2: D2--E2--F2--M \ lesson3: G2--H2--I2 Do any of you have experience working with a project like this? Should I consider using a different VCS, such as Darcs? (Note: it would be a real pain to use centralized VCS, so don't suggest one of those unless the benefits are clear.) Should I consider writing plugins or extra tools for a VCS (such as a "meta tag" which tags several branches)?

• how to atomically claim a row or resource using UPDATE in mysql

  i have a table of resources (lets say cars) which i want to claim atomically. if there's a limit of one resource per one user, i can do the following trick: UPDATE cars SET user = 'bob' WHERE user IS NULL LIMIT 1 SELECT * FROM cars WHERE user IS bob that way, i claim the resource atomically and then i can see which row i just claimed. this doesn't work when 'bob' can claim multiple cars. i realize i can get a list of cars already claimed by bob, claim another one, and then SELECT again to see what's changed, but that feels hackish. What I'm wondering is, is there some way to see which rows i just updated with my last UPDATE? failing that, is there some other trick to atomically claiming a row? i really want to avoid using SERIALIZABLE isolation level.   I'm using Spring 3.0.3. I've enabled the default ConversionService by adding this line to my Spring configuration XML. <mvc:annotation-driven/> I'm also using custom PropertyEditor's for certain data types, so I've registered them for corresponding data types like the following and they work fine. webDataBinder.registerCustomEditor(Date.class, new MyPropertyEditor()); I have a custom tag library that extends Spring's Form tag library, and I can acess these PropertyEditor's through getPropertyEditor() of AbstractDataBoundFormElementTag. What I don't understand is that I can't register a custom PropertyEditor for String for some reason. The following wouldn't work. webDataBinder.registerCustomEditor(String.class, new MyPropertyEditor()); When I do getPropertyEditor(), it always returns a ConvertingPropertyEditorAdapter, instead of MyPropertyEditor. Is this a bug? EDIT: I realized that I didn't do some stuff right. Spring works just fine.

The first filter (video in this case) is in effect, but the dropdown to select the other type never shows. Is there something extra that is needed to get this working on OSX? I have tried the latest firefox (3.6) and an older one (3.0.13) and both don't show the file type dropdown on OSX.

• jQuery autocomplete function, how to add support for words not available in the database yet?

  Hi, I'm looking to implement a tag system like how SO uses on their site, where users can specify multiple tag words. However, on top of all the other autocomplete functions available as jquery plugins, I also want to allow users to enter new words not in the database. Does anyone know of any plugin that can do that? Or if there isn't, how one can add that functionality to an existing autocomplete function? • XHTML validating block level element as a link

  I need a way to make an entire DL element clickable with only one anchor tag, that validates as XHTML. As in: <a> <dl> <dt>Data term</dt> <dd>Data definition</dd> </dl> </a> This currently doesn't validate as XHTML as the anchor tag cannot contain the DL. The only way I can get it to validate is if I make two anchor tags and place them inside DT and DD. As in: <dl> <dt><a>Data term</a></dt> <dd><a>Data definition</a></dt> </dl> I'm trying to avoid this, as it would result in two href attributes requiring maintenance, introducing the possibility they could become out of sync. Suggestions?

• MySQL MyISAM table performance... painfully, painfully slow

  I've got a table structure that can be summarized as follows: pagegroup * pagegroupid * name has 3600 rows page * pageid * pagegroupid * data references pagegroup; has 10000 rows; can have anything between 1-700 rows per pagegroup; the data column is of type mediumtext and the column contains 100k - 200kbytes data per row userdata * userdataid * pageid * column1 * column2 * column9 references page; has about 300,000 rows; can have about 1-50 rows per page The above structure is pretty straight forwad, the problem is that that a join from userdata to page group is terribly, terribly slow even though I have indexed all columns that should be indexed. The time needed to run a query for such a join (userdata inner_join page inner_join pagegroup) exceeds 3 minutes. This is terribly slow considering the fact that I am not selecting the data column at all. Example of the query that takes too long: SELECT userdata.column1, pagegroup.name FROM userdata INNER JOIN page USING( pageid ) INNER JOIN pagegroup USING( pagegroupid ) Please help by explaining why does it take so long and what can i do to make it faster. • Using TFSBuild to publish ClickOnce files that include prerequisites

  I have declared an MSBuild tag in my TFSBuild project in order to publish ClickOnce files for my project. WSE 3.0 and .Net 3.0 are both pre-requisites for the application, so in Visual Studio I have ticked those as pre-requisites. When I build from Visual Studio, it creates a setup.exe file that I can publish to my web site. When you browse to this setup.exe file it installs WSE3.0 and .Net 3.0 and then continues to install my application, which works well. If I get TFS to create the click once files using the MSBuild tag in the TFSBuild file, it creates the setup.exe file, which I can publish to my website in the same way (along with all the other ClickOnce files). When I browse to setup.exe now, however, the prerequisites don't get installed and therefore my program does not run. Does anyone know how to get TFS to build a correct setup.exe file that properly bootstraps my prerequisites?

• A better way of switching between Android source versions

  I would like to be able to switch between various android releases (1.0, 1.5, 2.0, etc.) and then access them via the file system to copy all files for that version into a tarball. Currently I am just running repo init -u <source URL> -b release-1. to get each version (changing the tag for each version I need). If this was a single git, I could check out the branch/tag I needed and the prject directory would "morph" to reflect then and I could just tar that folder. since the android source is split into multiple git repositories controlled by repo I have not yet found a way to change this other then the method mentioned above. any suggestions are appreciated.

• Why does the Combo.SelectedValue get lost after some time

  So I have this asp:DropDownList on a page. When the user clicks the button the selected item of the dropdown is read (well a datasource object reads it) and the grid does a databind after a trip to a DB where it gets some data based on that selected value. This works fine most of the time. However sometimes, the selection in the dropdownlist seems to get lost even though the rendered page says the A is the selected item. The datasource object is defined like this: <asp:ObjectDataSource ID="dsVM" runat="server" EnablePaging="False" SelectMethod="Select" SortParameterName="sort" TypeName="X.Business.Entities.LPVM.BE"> <SelectParameters> <asp:ControlParameter Name="listaId" Type="Int32" ControlID="cphFilter$cbLista" PropertyName="SelectedValue" /> </SelectParameters> </asp:ObjectDataSource> Any ideas why the grid would reload its data with a select parameter that is 0 instead of the selected value of the dropdownlist? EDIT Suppose the dropdownlist is bound, the user selected B and the grid is bound as well and shows the right data. Now, I wait 2 minutes and I click the Refresh button. Surprisingly, at this particular moment the dropdownlist.SelectedValue (which I already know it was 4352 before I clicked because that's how it looks in the rendered page) is actually an empty string. Where did the value go?

• removing diffgram from .net web service returning dataset

How can I remove this tag in the XML returned? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
