Fetching Webservice Data from Silverlight?

So I've created my webservice (through HTTP), but now how do I fetch the data (XML data) via C#/.Net?

What's the best way to store custom objects in relational database?

I have my objects with their properties. Objects could change their structure: properties may be added/removed/changed. Objects could be absolutely dropped. So object's metadata (description, classes, call them like you want :) )could be changed. The database should store objects schemas and instances of these objects. What's the best way to organise a relational database structure to store data mentioned above? Currently I see only two ways: 1) Store objects schemas in a few tables: schema general data,schema properties, possible properties types. Store instances in their tables: instance general data, a few tables - per each type from possible properties types table to store instance properties data. And so on. 2) store objects schemas like in p1 but store instances like XML files in one table: one table for general instance info and one table with instance XML. please, don't ask why/for what I need this. Just need to store custom objects and DB should work fast :)

Complex class using PHP soapserver mapclass

Hi all, I need to create a server for processing SOAP requests. I have the wsdl and xml specifications, but I have a doubt: the xml elements are pretty complex, they are not simple type, but they have parent/child relationships (e.g. I have a Book class with an author subclass). How can I map this to PHP classes? In this example, should I create an author class i.e.: class Author { public $name; public $surname; } and then class Book { public $author; } will $author be a class of type Author? Or a typed array? Any help will be appreciated Thanks and happy new year!

I want to learn Spring. I'd like to start with Spring 3. I want a simple tutorial and/or example. So no full blown web example please. Also - not a trivial example - so something incorporating persistence (e.g. JPA or hibernate) would be nice. Also - I don't want to get bogged down writing XML. So - Annotation based Spring 3 with JPA and/or hibernate. Yes - there is a good reference for Spring 3.0, but it's XML based. I can't find anything else useful. Thanks in advance.

How do I execute an action in drupal after each time a node is saved?

I'm developing an Action in Drupal which is supposed to activate after saving a node, exporting content to XML (which includes data from the node that was just saved), using the "Trigger: After saving an updated post" trigger. Unfortunately this action actually happens right before the information from the recently saved post is saved to the database. ie. when looking at the XML later, I find that the most recent change I made was not included. Saving after editing a different node will restore the previously missing data. How can I get my action to fire after the saving process is complete?

Hey guys quick question, I am kind of a noob at administering my server right now. I was just wondering if anyone could let me know what I was doing wrong in trying to enable mod_deflate. I have Apache 2.0+ and tried the code in my htaccess file AddOutputFilterByType DEFLATE text/html text/plain text/xml text/css <FilesMatch "\\.(js|css|html|htm|php|xml)$"> SetOutputFilter DEFLATE </FilesMatch> It did not compress any of my files when I tested my site in firebug. Problem using a costum server control in a aspx

I already developed one class (my custom gridview) and i want use it on a .aspx That class is defined in app_code and compiled to the dll of the project. namespace MyCostumControls{ public class DropDownPagingGridView : GridView{ ... I already registered the control on the aspx page using <%@ Register Namespace="MyCostumControls" TagPrefix="ctrl" % and i can use in the page and works ok.. But i'm watching one problem. That class contains methods defined by me, than when i try to call them in code-behind sayd to me than they're not defined. In designed i don't see the reference to MyCostumControls, and when i try declare one field using protected global::MyCostumControls.MyCostumControls ddl_gv_errors, i cannot access to MyCostumControls namespace, Is because he's compiled to the project dll? I can access to all namespaces than are not contained in app_code. Solutions? Apreciate. Thanks

But since I need to synchronize the div containers content to my XML DOM I would like to avoid partial selections as described in w3c ranges: <BODY><H1>Title</H1><P>Blah xyz.</P></BODY ............^----------------^............ This selection starts inside H1 and ends inside P, I'd like it to include H1,P completely. Is there an easy way to extend the selection to cover partially selected children completely? (The code doesn't need to work with opera/IE)

How can I clone a .NET solution?

Starting new .NET projects always involves a bit of work. You have to create the solution, add projects for different tiers (Domain, DAL, Web, Test), set up references, solution structure, copy javascript files, css templates and master pages etc etc. What I'd like is an easy way of cloning any given solution. If you use copy/paste, the problem is that you need to then go through renaming namespaces, assembly names, solution names, GUIDs etc. Is there a way of automating this? Something like this would be great: solutionclone.exe --solution=c:\code\abc\template.sln --to=c:\code\xyz --newname=MySolution I'm aware that Visual Studio has project templates, but I've not seen solution templates. Ideas welcome, thanks in advance folks!

php calling classes functions in separate pages

I've worked with J2EE recently and like the idea of struts.xml where I can handle the redirection to pages based on return string from action classes. In PHP, in my new under-development site, I am trying to follow the MVC standards without an MVC framework used from the internet. So I create the controllers, models and views (empty now). The only thing I am really stuck at is when I submit the form in view (insert_product.php) then I will need to create another php page to handle the post data and pass them to controllers. Anyway of avoiding creating those pages and maybe having something like struts.xml? Even if I can post data directly to controller class, that would be good. Thanks,

shell script over SSH ends unexpectedly after running 'ant build'

I wrote a shell script that runs on remote host to build source code with 'ant build' command, and then distribute the built binary to other servers. However, right after Ant build is over successfully(I can see the command line output saying Build was successful), the ssh session ends and whatever commands after 'ant build' does not get executed. I'm confused what might be cause of this behavior. I suspected that it might be because the 'ant build' command takes too long time, and SSH somehow quits itself after that long command. But I don't think that's correct since if I just do 'sleep 60' in place of 'ant build' command, it actually execute latter commands as intended. I'm new at shell programming, so I might have made some silly misassumption. Can someone provide a pointer to a possible cause of this problem? How to publish an ASP.NET MVC application to a free host

Hi, I'm using a free web host (0000free) which supports ASP.NET MVC, but it uses Mono. This is the first time I deploy an MVC application, so I'm a little confused as to where I need to deploy it. I have Visual Studio 2010 and I used its Publish Feature (i.e. right click on the project name and click publish) and I tried several things: Publish method: FTP to the root folder. Publish method: FTP to the publich_html folder. Publish method: File System to the root folder. Publish method: File System to the publich_html folder. Publish method: File System to a local directory on my computer and then FTP to root and also tried the public_html folder. I went into the cPanel (control panel) to try and see if ASP.NET has to be added/enabled for my web site, but I didn't see anything there. I can't browse to Index.aspx nor can I redirect to it from index.html (as suggested from other posts on the host forum), right now I have a link from index.html to Index.aspx but it's not working either (see http://www.mydevarmy.com) I've also tried renaming Index.aspx to Default.aspx, but that doesn't work either.
