• Create pdf file dynamically in vb.net for .net 1.1 framework

  I need to create a pdf file dynamically in vb.net. It needs to contain several images and lines of text. I am using VS 2003, so whatever solution I use will need to be compatible with the .net 1.1 framework. The current method I am using is wpcubed, but this requires that all images be converted to bmp format before adding them to the pdf, which can be extremely slow when dealing with a large number of images. I am aware that there are an awful lot of other 3rd party products that claim to do this, and I have had a search through them. But without registering, downloading, installing and writing code to use each of them in turn, it is very difficult to differentiate between them. So far I have looked into evo pdf and pdfsharp but neither seem to work with .net 1.1. (Although they don't make this abundantly clear.) Has anyone else found a method that works and they would recommend (a free one-if possible)?

  I need to preprocess a treebank corpus of sentences with parse trees. The input format is a vertical representation of trees, like so: S =NP ==(DT +def) the == (N +ani) man =VP ==V walks ...and I need it like: (S (NP (DT the) (N man)) (VP (V walks))) I have code that almost does it, but not quite. There's always a missing paren somewhere. Should I use a proper parser, maybe a CFG? • Invalid Token when using XPath

  Hi I am making a modification to a web application using XPath, and when executed I get an error message - Invalid token! This is basic what I am doing public xmlNode GetSelection (SelectParams params, xmldocument docment) { xpathstring = string.format("Name =\'{0}' Displaytag = \'{1}' Manadatory=\'{2}', params.Name, params.Displaytag, params.Manadatory); return document.selectsinglenode(xpathstring); } As you can see, I am making a string and setting values on the nodes I am trying to find against my xml document, and thus returning xml data that matches my parameters. What is happening is that I am getting an xpathexeception error in Visual Studio and it says invalid token. I do know that in the xml document that the parameters I am looking in the tags have double quotes, for example, Name="ABC". So, I thought the problem could be solved using an "\". Can anyone help? Update from comments In the Xml Document, the tag has attributes where they are set as Name="ABC" Displaytag="ATag" Manadatory="true".

• Using jQuery to find keywords in string

  In php, I have used preg_match_all() to find keywords (using the format %keyword%) in a string, which works wonderfully and returns an array of all found keywords. What I would like to do, is do the same thing using jQuery or javascript. I have tried using the filter() function, and it kind of works. But I think I am missing something. How can I find ALL instances of the keyword in a string, using a regex? Here is what I have worked out so far: $("[id^='editableContent-']").filter(function() { alert($(this).html().match(/\%(.*?)\%/)); }); Any suggestions are welcome!

• Flex 3 - Send a HTTP Get request from Flash and want Firefox to show Open With Box.

  Hi all, I am a newb developer as far as Flex and Flash is concerned. This is what I'm trying to do: 1) Send a HTTP request to our server (with a custom made URL). The URL basically tells the server to send data in a CSV format. 2) The server sends a 200 OK response, which has Content-Type: application/csv and the payload is pure CSV data. What I wish to do is, when firefox gets this 200 OK response, I want it to show the standard Open with box (the one that shows up when you download some file). I tried doing this with HTTPService. I have a "Export to CSV" button on the flash component. Upon clicking that, the flash component is able to succesfully send the HTTP request. I however don't want Flash component to handle the response, so I don't have the 's "result" tag defined. But nothing happens. Any suggestions on how to do this.

  We develop products and frameworks to be used with in our organization. I am looking for programmer friendly documentation tools. I have researched on few options sometime back but couldn't decide which one to use. I am looking for suggestions from the people who already used these tools. docbook: springframework and hibernate use this format and this looks good. but I believe they have customized the default xslt/stylesheet. Can I copy and use their xslt and css (ofcourse with colors and images changed). Can I integrate the doc generation using maven? wiki: this is not friendly to the technical document writers and the documentation doesn't look professional. versioning is also not possible I believe word docs: this is what we use currently but it is hard to link and reuse common documents. • Images to video - converting to IplImage makes video blue

  I want to create a video from images using opencv. The strange problem is that if i will write image (bmp) to disk and then load (cv.LoadImage) it it renders fine, but when i try to load image from StringIO and convert it to IplImage, it turns video to blue. • Read binary data from a MDB-file running under LAMP

  I need to be able to connect to an MDB-file in a LAMP-environment (running on Linux) and ultimately insert converted data into a Mysql db. The data I need to access is stored as a BLOB (Long Binary Data according to Access) in the MDB file. I have not yet been able to actually have a look at the data but I have been told that the BLOB consists of byte strings. Something along the lines of: 0x1c 0x10 0x27 0x00 0x00 I need to parse the byte strings and convert these to a format that is human readable. I do have access to the documentation that explains the various byte strings. So this is really two questions: How do a get access to the MDB file via PHP* (running under LAMP) and read the BLOB (I do not have access to a Windows-platform)? What would be the best way to parse the binary data (in PHP*) once I am able to connect to the MDB-file? *Or are there other methods/languages that are more appropriate?

  I am building a framework that will validate forms both client-side (javascript) and server-side based on a form requirements specification written in json. The purpose is to get rid of logically equivalent code on the server and client to make the code more maintainable, faster to write, and less buggy.   I'm having difficulty getting full-text search working in SQL Server 2008 Express with Advanced Services. I have a table loaded with .DOCX files as varbinary(MAX) data that I want to use for a full-text catalog, but it doesn't seem to recognize the .DOCX format. Here are the steps that I've taken... Installed the latest Filter Pack 2.0 Exec sp_fulltext_service 'load_os_resources', 1 Exec sys.sp_help_fulltext_system_components 'all' (NOTE: .DOCX is not shown as a filter) Building the full-text catalog fails to identify any key words I initially thought there might be a conflict between x86 SQL Express and x64 Filter Pack on my Windows 7 machine, but I just tried it with everything x86 in a Windows XP virtual machine and got the same result.

  Hello! I have articles on my site, and I would like to add tags which would describe each article, but I'm having problems with design mysql table for tags. I have two ideas: 1) each article would have field "tags", and tags would be in format: "tag1,tag2,tag3" 2) create other table called tags with fields: tag_name, article_id, so when I want tags for article with ID 1, I would run SELECT ... FROM tags WHERE news_id=1; But, I would also like to know 3 similar articles by comparing tags, so if I have article which has tags "php,mysql,erlang", and 5 articles with tags: "php,mysql", "erlang,ruby", "php erlang", "mysql,erlang,javascript", I would choose 1., 3. and 4., since those 3 have most same tags with main article. • Why '.png' files produced by ImageMagick are so much bigger than '.jpg' & '.gif' files?

  Hello. I'm using ImageMagick to convert some files from one format to another. I was always under the impression that .png files were supposed to be as big/small as .jpg if not smaller, and definitely smaller than .gif. However when I run convert photo.jpg photo.png The files I'm getting out is about 6 times bigger than the original jpg. Original jpg is a regular photo about 300x500 px, 52 kb. Output is a proper png of the same dimensions, but size is about 307 kb? Does anyoone know what the hack is going on? Am I doing something wrong? P.S.: I tried both on Debian and Windows with the same results.

  I'm writing a C++ unit testing framework and I would like it if it could be integrated with Eclipse CDT. In other testing suites that work with Eclipse, JUnit for example, the user is provided a graphical list of all test cases and their results. Something like this would be the ideal. I'm just getting into this, so I need some advice on getting started. There are two approaches I see Use an existing Eclipse testing plugin (such as JUnit) and make the framework return output in the same format as the plugin's input. Write a plugin from scratch that can work with my framework (seems like it would take a lot of time) Thoughts appreciated

  Hi, Assume a java string that contains an IP (v4 or v6) or a hostname. What is the best way to detect among these cases? I am not interested so much on whether the IP is in valid range (e.g. 999.999.999.999 for IPv4). I am interested in just a way to detect if a String is a hostname or an IP (v4 or v6). Initially I though this: if(theString.indexOf("@")!=-1){ //Not an Ip } but I am not sure if I should always expect a format containing @ always. Thanks

• Help to convert PostgreSQL dates into SQL Server dates

  Hello I'm doing some data conversion from PostgreSQL to Microsoft SQL Server. So far it has all went well and I almost have the entire database dump script running. There is only one thing that is now messed up: dates. The dates are dumped to a string format. These are two example formats I've seen so far: '2008-01-14 12:00:00' and the more precise '2010-04-09 12:23:45.26525' I would like a regex (or set of regexs) that I could run so that will replace these with SQL Server compatible dates. Anyone know how I can do that?

  Hi, I have few Gigabytes text file in format: {"user_ip":"x.x.x.x", "action_type":"xxx", "action_data":{"some_key":"some_value"...},...} each entry is one line. First I would like to easily find entries for given ip. This part is easy because I can use grep for example. However even for this I would like to find better solution because I would like to get response as fast as possible. Next part is more complicated because I would like to find entries from selected ip and of selected type and with particular value of some_key in action_data. Probably I would have to convert this file to SQL db (probably SQLite, because it will be desktop APP), but I would ask if there are exists better solutions?

  Maybe I am being a n00b here, but for the life of me, I cant find a simple drop in type solution for displaying an rss feed inside an aspx page? I am looking for a simple solution, as when Firefox gets pointed to an rss feed, it just plainly displays it, no thrills, no fuss. I don't want to get into the xml and format it extensively. I just want a basic feed, will style it with font and a:styles. Thats it. Any ideas? EDIT: I am attempting to show a worpress "feed" inside an aspx page...

  We are going the send our newsletters in HTML format soon. I have found a lot of information (like on Litmus) about which e-mail program and web mailer understands which CSS property. But the only think I couldn't figure out is which DOCTYPE we should use. Our mass mailing tool always overwrites the DOCTYPE with HTML 4.0 Transitional: <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN"> What would you say we should take to be compatible with most of the e-mail programs and web mailer? We don't use a lot of HTML and now special new CSS properties.

Data basically is stored as follows (with other columns) : Table Name: Hits ============================ VisitorIP TIMESTAMP ---------------------------- 15.215.65.65 123456789 I want to display total hits per hour (within the last 6 hours ) including the hours that has no hits. Example of the output: // Assuming now : 21:00 21:00 - 0 hits 20:00 - 1 hits 19:00 - 4 hits 18:00 - 0 hits 17:00 - 2 hits 16:00 - 3 hits i would love to get the data as array, Please note that the stored date is in UNIX time stamp format. and there may be some hours without any hits! • Accessing GMail "View as HTML" content programatically?

  I love the "View as HTML" option in GMail when viewing attachments. I would love to be able to use this feature programatically, i.e. check a GMail inbox, read emails, if there are attachments, get the html view and use that content. I'm looking to do this in C Sharp (on a Mac, can't find the hash symbol). Does anyone know if this is possible or if there's another solution to easily get content from a GMail account, regardless of what format it's in? I.E html, pdf, Word doc, etc. The GMail Inbox Feed api isn't good enough and before I start trying to build an IMAP solution that pulls in PDF/Word doc converters, I thought it'd be good to ask here.

  I want to extract some links from a XML document (links are in same format as on html pages). Now for eg a link is "http://xyz.com/start/tyu/a.html" and another is "http://ert.com/tyu/b.html" while a third link is "http://asdf.com/ghjk/c.html" From the above 3 links (which I have with me using a for clause in a FLWOR expression)...I want only the links which contain within them a string "tyu" to be selected-- I thought of using substring for this, but substring requires start and end positions to be specified- whereas in my scenario, I dont know at which position the desired string will be. How do I do substring matching in such a scenario, i.e. where exact position for occurrence of substring, is not known? I can use XQuery 1.0 for this purpose. Finally, I want to extract the link URL, as well as link text...
