  I am currently binding a Nullable bit column to a listview control. When you declare a list view item I need to handle the case when the null value is used instead of just true or false. <asp:Checkbox ID="Chk1" runat="server" Checked='<%# HandleNullableBool(Eval("IsUsed")) %>' /> Then in the page I add a HandleNullableBool() function inside the ASPX page. protected static bool HandleNullableBool(object value) { return (value == null) ? false : (bool)value; } This works fine but I need to use this in several pages so I tried creating a utility class with a static HandleNullableBool. But using it in the asp page does not work. • mciSendString cannot save to directory path

  Hello, VS C# 2008 SP1 I have a created a small application that records and plays audio. However, my application needs to save the wave file to the application data directory on the users computer. The mciSendString takes a C style string as a parameter and has to be in 8.3 format. However, my problem is I can't get it to save. And what is strange is sometime it does and sometimes it doesn't. Howver, most of the time is failes. However, if I save directly to the C drive it works first time everything. I have used 3 different methods that I have coded below. The error number that I get when it fails is 286."The file was not saved. • Overriding LINQ extension methods

  Is there a way to override extension methods (provide a better implementation), without explicitly having to cast to them? I'm implementing a data type that is able to handle certain operations more efficiently than the default extension methods, but I'd like to keep the generality of IEnumerable. That way any IEnumerable can be passed, but when my class is passed in, it should be more efficient. Now we want to move one of those methods out to another util class to make it a static method.   Hi All I might be vaguing out here but I'm looking for a nice place to put set based helper operations in linq so I can do things like; db.Selections.ClearTemporary() which does something like db.DeleteAllOnSubmit(db.Selections.Where(s => s.Temporary)) Since I can figure out how to extend Table<Selection> the best I can do is create a static method in partial class of Selection (similar to Ruby) but I have to pass in the datacontext like; Selection.ClearTemporary(MyDataContext) This kind of sucks because I have two conventions for doing set based operations and I have to pass the data context to the static class. I've seen other people recommending piling helper methods into a partial of the datacontext like; myDataContext.ClearTemporarySelections(); But I feel this makes the dc a dumping ground for in-cohesive operations. Surely I'm missing something. I hope so. What's the convention? TIA

  I'm making an installer program for my web application. My web application uses CSS and JS heavily, so I want to enable both Static and Dynamic HttpCompression for IIS7/7.5. It needs 2 steps: I can modified the web.config, put <httpcompression> tag, it's ok. DynamicContentCompression must be turned on in Windows Feature to make httpCompression work. Static HttpCompression is enable by default in IIS7 and IIS7.5, but Dynamic HttpCompression is not enable by default (although it's available). I can do manually by turn on: Start/ControlPanel/ProgramsAndFeatures/TurnWindowsFeatures on or Off/IIS/WWW Service/Performance features/Dynamic Content Compression, but How can I programmatically turn it on that Windows Feature? I can use PowerShell, C# in my installer. Any idea how I might be able to do this? Thanks.

• Best practices for organizing .NET P/Invoke code to Win32 APIs

  I am refactoring a large and complicated code base in .NET that makes heavy use of P/Invoke to Win32 APIs. The structure of the project is not the greatest and I am finding DllImport statements all over the place, very often duplicated for the same function, and also declared in a variety of ways: The import directives and methods are sometimes declared as public, sometimes private, sometimes as static and sometimes as instance methods. My worry is that refactoring may have unintended consequences but this might be unavoidable. Are there documented best practices I can follow that can help me out? My instict is to organize a static/shared Win32 P/Invoke API class that lists all of these methods and associated constants in one file... (The code base is made up of over 20 projects with a lot of windows message passing and cross-thread calls. It's also a VB.NET project upgraded from VB6 if that makes a difference.)

  Hello, Today's world of dynamic invoke, reflection and runtime injection just doesn't play well with traditional tools such as ctags, doxygen and CDOC. I am searching for a method call hierarchy visualization tool that can display both static and dynamic method invocations. It should be easy to use, light during execution and provide helpful detailed information about the recorded runtime session. Now I guess Callgrind could be considered a valid solution for the family C. What tool / technique could you suggest to create a call graph for both static and dynamic method invocation for JVM based bytecode? The intended end result is a graphical display (preferably interactive) which can show path from main() to each method that was invoked. During research for this post I stumbled upon javashot, it seems that this is the kind of approach I'm aiming at, I would prefer that this would be integrated into a kind of profiler or alike which than can be used from within my IDE (Eclipse, IntelliJ, Netbeans and alike). • Why is Apache seg faulting?

  We have a production server that seems to Seg Fault a few times every day. The fault is picked up by Apache and logged in the error log - but there seems to be no traffic around the time. If it's a request generating the fault then it looks like it happens before any other logging is made so I can't see how it's happening so it's very hard to debug.   Hi. I'm having trouble figuring out how to solve this issue. I have a file called: "urlrewrite.xml" which was automatically generated by spring ROO after running the "controller" command in ROO Shell. However, I still get the following error: "Referenced file contains errors (http://tuckey.org/res/dtds/urlrewrite3.0.dtd). For more information, right click on the message in the Problems View and select "Show Details..."
