• Static Application Switcher is empty after show dekstop

  Im using the Static Application Switcher to configure my ALT + TAB to cycle trough all applications not grouped. So far so good. Then I press Super + D to "hide all normal windows" (show desktop). This setting is from Keyboard - Shortcuts - Navigation. This also works BUT After hide all normal windows has been activated and I press ALT + TAB nothing comes up. I suspect they have been hidden so well that the Application Switcher does not longer sees them. Anyone know if this can be fixed trough settings somewhere?

  I have the following code txtBlock1.Inlines.Add("This is first paragraph \n This is second paragraph"); then TextBlock would display: This is first paragraph This is second paragraph But, if I have the following (which I though is equivalent); txtBlock1.Inlines.Add("This is first paragraph"); txtBlock1.Inlines.Add("\n"); txtBlock1.Inlines.Add("This is second paragraph"); TextBlock display: This is first paragraph // but second paragraph missing If I separate out the linebreak then the rest of text after the linebreak doesn't show. Why? I have to use run: Run run1 = new Run(); run1.Text = "First Paragraph"; run1.Text += "\n"; run1.Text += "Second Paragraph"; txtBlock1.Inlines.Add(run1); Then it produce the result correctly. Why I cannot add inline text to Textblock and require me to use Run?

• Why is my laptop so sluggish? Or Damn You Facebook and Twitter! Or All Hail Chrome!

  In the past three weeks, I've noticed that my laptop (dual core 2.1GHz, 2Gb RAM) has become amazingly sluggish.  I only uses for communications and data lookup workflows, so the slowness was tolerable.  But today I finally got fed up with the suckyness and decided to get to the root of the problem (I do have strong performance roots after all). It actually didn't take all that long to figure it out.  About a year ago I converted to Google Chrome (away from FireFox).  One of the great tools Chrome has is a "Task Manager" tool, that gives you Windows Task Manager like details for all the tabs open in the browser (Shift + Esc).  Since every tab runs in its own process, its easy from Task Manager (both Windows or Chrome) to identify and kill a single performance offending tab.  This is unlike IE, where you only get aggregate data about all tabs open.  Anyway, I digress.  Today my laptop sucked.  Windows Task Manager told me that I had two memory hogging Chrome tabs, but couldn't tell me which web page those tabs are showing.  Enter Chrome Task Manager which tells you the page title, along with CPU, memory and network utilization of each tab.  Enter my amazement.  Turns out Facebook was using just shy of half a Gb of RAM.  Half a Gigabyte!  That's 512 Megabytes!524,288 Kilobytes! 536,870,912 Bytes!  Or 4,294,967,296 Bits!  In other words, that's a frackin boat load of memory.  Now consider that Facebook is running on pretty much 96.3% (statistics based on absolutely nothing) of every house hold desktop, laptop, netbook, and mobile device in America, that is pretty horrific! And I wasn't playing any Facebook games like FarmWars or MafiaVille.  I just had my normal, default home page up showing me who just had breakfast, or just got finished with their morning run. I'm sorry...let me say that again...HALF A GIG OF RAM!  That is just unforgivable. I can just see my mom calling me up:  Mom: "John...I think I need a new computer.  Mine is really slow these days" John: "What do you have running?" Mom: "Oh, just Facebook" John: "Ok, close Facebook and tell me how fast your computer feels" Mom: "Well...I don't know how fast it is.  All I do is use Facebook" John: "Ok Mom, I'll send you a new computer by Tuesday" Oh yea...and the other offending web page?  It was Twitter, using a quarter of a Gigabyte. God I love social networks!

• Flash player (in Firefox) is unstable in 14.04

  For 13.10, I used this guide to get Intel iGPU-supported playback of flash videos in Firefox: http://www.webupd8.org/2013/09/adobe-flash-player-hardware.html All in all, Intel graphics acceleration for flash content was working just fine in 13.10, at least on my machine (with Xubuntu). I basically followed the guide to do the same for 14.04, but about 2-3 weeks ago flash videos started acting up. Whenever I have one instance of flash paused or stopped in one tab and go to the next tab to continue some song on Soundcloud or something, it's game over. I'm clueless as to what I can do here. Did anything change in the meantime?

• jQuery hide/show div working in Opera and Chrome but not IE/Firefox

• How can I assign actions to all my mouse buttons?

  I have a mouse with lots of buttons, but it's not a mainstream make like Logitech. For Windows, I have a driver that lets me assign actions like close-window (Ctrl+W) or next-tab (Ctrl+Tab), but I don't have a Linux driver. Since Linux is so flexible, I thought perhaps there is a general way to do this, regardless of brand? Update: Based on input from Cyrex, I installed and ran sudo apt-get install btnx which found several but not all mouse buttons. Found: left, right, wheel, wheelclick, thumb fwd, thumb back. Not found: wheel left, wheel right, thumb middle button. Vendor ID is 0x04d9, Model ID is 0xa015.

• Emailing HTML from within an iPhone app is stopping at special characters

  Hi, I have an iPhone app that will let users email some pre-determined text as HTML. I'm having a problem in that if the text contains special characters within the text (e.g., ampersand &, , <), the NSString variable that I use for sending the body of the email gets truncated at the special character. I'm not sure how to fix this (I tried using the method stringByAddingPercentEscapesUsingEncoding…but this hasn't fixed the problems). Thoughts on what I'm doing wrong / how to fix it? • Why must I restart for HDMI audio?

  I have a System76 Lemur Ultra laptop, which has an HDMI port. When I plug in the HDMI cable, it is recognized immediately for video, but not for audio, i.e., it does not show up in the Output tab of the Sound Settings dialog. However, if I do a full restart with the cable plugged in, then it does show up and can be selected. I've also discovered that manually killing and restarting pulseaudio with the HDMI plugged in will force it to be recognized as an available audio output. So my question is, what is broken here? I've thought about writing a bug in launchpad, but I don't know which component is malfunctioning. Is it the kernel? ALSA? Pulse Audio? Something else? By the way, the same bug seems to exist in reverse, namely if I disconnect the HDMI, it is still listed in the Output tab until I again restart the OS. This is 12.04 LTS.

  Hi Folks, I have a problem in an iPhone application. Application has a table view controller with custom table view cells. Each cell has a Label (please correct me if I need to use text view etc). I am getting text dynamically from a web service call and I don't know how long text gonna be. Now problem is that I want to adjust the table view cell height based on text I receive. How can I grow Label or TextView height withinin table view cell so it can contain all the text and in effect grow table view cell height. Does anyone know how to handle this kind of design problem? • Why does terminal auto complete sometimes not suggest anything?

  Sometimes, when I type a command on the terminal, the terminal's autocomplete does not work, even if my command is not wrong. For example, take look to this: sudo service vsftpd status sudo and service do not have any problem. I mean, when you type sud +tab terminal suggest you sudo or I type servi + tab terminal complete that to service. But for vsftpd I do not get any suggestion. Is there a way to say, "terminal, please tell me any suggestion!!?".

• Why can I not add a set accessor to an overriden property?

  In a base class I have this property: public virtual string Text { get { return text; } } I want to override that and return a different text, but I would also like to be able to set the text, so I did this: public override string Text { get { return differentText; } set { differentText = value; } } This however does not work. I get a red squiggly under set saying that I can not override because it does not have a set accessor. Why is this aproblem? What should I do?

• Add a Carriage Return to the Output of an XSL Transformation

  I am trying to use XSLT to convert an XML document to a text file and the text of the document looks fine. However, I need to add a carriage return after the end of each line (NOT A CRLF) and I seem to be failing in every attempt. I have tried adding just a CR at the end of the line like this: <xsl:text>&#xD;</xsl:text> I have tried changing my media-type to string, I have tried to add the disable-output-escaping attribute to the text element, but it always adds a CRLF. This is on a Windows OS and I know that Windows uses CRLF for a new line, but I would have thought you could override that if you said to specifically use only the CR or the LF (e.g. VB.net's VBCR or VBLF). Does anyone know if it is possible to only output a CR with XSLT? Thanks in advance.

When I open Ubuntuone Preferences, Account tab, on one computer it does not display the usage, name e-mail or current plan. On the other computer all information is shown correctly. On the Devices tab the 2 computers are not shown. They do show correctly on the other computer. Any ideas on how to fix this problem. I have reinstalled Ubuntuone per this link.

  Good day friends, my problem is that my mouse clicks automatically and is getting on my nerves. I tried to do the solutioned mentioned here: Press Alt + F2 and type gnome-mouse-properties then press Enter. Go to Accessibility tab and uncheck the option "Initiate click when stopping..." but my problem is that the Accessibility tab is not there.   I'm running cm9 ics on my Galaxy Note and i tried anything i could find googleing around but to no result, if i look on the phone in usb settings there is the option for mass storage but it's grey and therefore not selectable I don`t know what the problem is but i saw somwhere that it might be an old version of libmtp so i tried to install libmtp 1.1.3 with ./configure make make install but even after when i try mtp-detect it gives me libmtp 1.1.1 is it normal? anyway when i run mtp-detect here is what it gives me libmtp version: 1.1.1 Listing raw device(s) Device 0 (VID=04e8 and PID=6860) is a Samsung GT-P7310/P7510/N7000/I9100/Galaxy Tab 7.7/10.1/S2/Nexus/Note.
