  This smells like a serverfault question, yet there are many similar questions here. Your call. I'm setting up Mercurial over IIS6, and thanks to a number of detailed blogs, it's working fine — almost. I can browse and clone the repositories fine, but this is what happens when I try to push: D:\sample2>hg push pushing to http://localhost/hg/sample2 searching for changes abort: HTTP Error 500: Permission denied: .hg\store\lock First of all, there is no such file or folder. Second, the App Pool's logon has total permission on the repository's parent directory, with these inherited ad infinitum. The repository is located on another logical drive (on the same machine), and if I push to it directly, that also works: D:\sample2>hg push e:\hg\sample2 pushing to e:\hg\sample2 searching for changes adding changesets adding manifests adding file changes added 1 changesets with 1 changes to 1 files If I change the password in my hgrc, the message indicates a failed authorization, so I believe that's working. I've been fighting this for a couple of days, so any leads would be helpful. Thanks!

  Hi I have made a small example to show my problem. And it works fine with strings. Now I use Base64Encoder, but I dislike this solution.

• findViewById undefined

  Eclipse is marking findViewById(int) as undefined; it was doing the same thing for getResources(), but I was able to get around that by calling context.getResources() instead (as seen below) and can't seem to find a similar workaround for findViewById.   Hi, I am new to jasper report, I need to create pdf document with BeanDatasource and subreport. • RIA IDE - Visual Studio 2010, FlashBuilder and ExtJS Designer

  I've been playing around with Flex4 - the trial version - and is really quite good in terms of layout development - since I'm starting a new RIA project and we still on the "what platform" phase I better listen what you guys have to say. In Flashbuilder I can do the layout and mix with the back end script code really fast - the version 4 give me the power to even test the functionality of the server side script, etc and since I can use Fllashbuilder as a Eclipse plugin, I end up with only one IDE. On the other hand, with Silverlight, it looks like if I want a "drag and drop" approach to build my interface I would need Expression Blend and Visual Studio (full or express version). Is there a way out that? I mean, Visual Studio 2010 will come with some sort of Silverlight component palet so that you can easily drag and drop it on your interface like you would do with WPF, etc? I don't wanna use Blend - is way too much for what we need - taking the "coding XAML" by hand is out of question as well. A third approach is to use ExtJS - they have a new designer IDE that looks promising.

  I am trying to support UTF-8 characters in my ANT script. As long as the character string are made up of 2-byte UTF-8 characters, such as: Lògìñ Ùsèr ÌÐ Then things work fine. When I use Unicode Han Character: ? Which, according to this site: http://www.fileformat.info/info/unicode/char/6211/index.htm Has a UTF-8 encoding of 0xE6 0x88 0x91 I can see in UltraEdit, my input properties file has the values "E6 88 91" all in a row, so I'm fairly confident that my input is correct. And When I open the same file in Notepad++ I can see all the characters correctly. • Using a Mac for cross platform development?

  Who uses Macs for cross-platform development? By cross platform I essentially mean you can compile to target Windows or Unix (not necessarily both at the same time). I understand that this also has a lot to do with writing portable code, but I am more interested in people's experience with Mac OS X to develop software. I understand that there are a range of IDEs to choose from, I would probably use Eclipse (I like the GCC toolchain) however Xcode seems to be quite popular. Could it be used as described above? At a pinch I could always virtualise with VirtualBox or VMware Player or parallels to use Visual Studio (or dual boot for that matter). Having said that I am open to any other suggested compilers (with preferably an IDE that uses GCC.) Also with the range of Macs available, which one would you recommend? I would prefer a laptop (as I already have a desktop) but am unsure of reasonable specifications. If you are currently using a Mac to do development, I would love to hear what you develop on your Mac and what you like and don't like about it. I would primarily be developing in C/C++/Java. I am also looking to experiment with Boost and Qt, so I'm interested in hearing about any (potential) compatibility issues. If you have any other tips I'd love you hear what you have to say.

• BIRT logging in the onFetch step of a dataset

  Hi all, Im having trouble with some javascript in the onFetch step of a dataset in a BIRT report. I've added logging in the initialise step of the report in a few different ways. The runtime im using is Tivoli Common Reporting, and they supply a logging framework. Its initialised as so reportContext.setPersistentGlobalVariable("logfileName", "DateRangeParm.log"); setupLogging(); logInitialize(); debugLogger("Started logging in initialize step"); debugLogger("Date: " + new Date()); This works fine to log on the steps of the report(ie initialise, BeforeRender, AfterRender etc.) but I cant seem to log anything in the Dataset steps such as onFetch etc. Ive also tried importPackage(Packages.java.util.logging); var fileHandler = new FileHandler("/tmp/birt.log", true); var rootLogger = Logger.getLogger(""); rootLogger.addHandler(fileHandler); as the BIRT instructions tell me to do in the BIRTFAQ Once again this allowed me to log things in the main report (ie BeforeRender etc) but not in the dataset onFetch Step. Ive also tried putting the previous javascript into the onFetch and that didnt seem to work either. Its a bit of a mystery. Im running Ubuntu 9.04. IBM java 1.5. Eclipse 3.5.0 and BIRT 2.5.1. Any help would be great.

  Hi, I am experiencing an unusual error using ItemizedOverlay in Android. I am creating a GPS tracking device that plots a route between waypoints stored in a database. I have a function GetDepartment(string UserName) which returns a string with the users department. What I want is to crate a new dictionary, of the same type, that has the department as the main key and in the subdictionary a where hours is the total for that department.   Yes, this is not programming related but please bear with me =). I run a small niche SaaS business. Lately I've been thinking of traveling and experiencing life in other places. Would really appreciate suggestions for good places a developer could relocate to. In particular I'm looking for a place that: Has good internet connection (cheap stable broadband, lots of places that provide free wifi, etc.) Low cost of living (rent and food fairly cheap). At least half of the population speak English. Has a local courier agent (DHL, Fedex, any...). The government allows for extended stay of foreigners. I'm thinking of staying for about 6 months at each location and maybe doing it for 3 years. So looking for 5 to 6 locations in total. So if any of you think you're staying in a place that would be great for a visiting developer then please shout out. Include as detailed a description as possible. And include any cons about the place if there are. The only place that pops to mind right now is Bali =). Isle of Skye also seems interesting but I think immigration is tight and cost of living would definitely be higher. Thanks in advance for suggestions =)

• How to start an iPhone 3.1.3 project in Xcode 3.2.3 (iPhone SDK 4 beta)

  Hi there! I am having big problems since I downloaded the beta version of iPhone SDK 4.0. Okay, I just started to look at iPhone development a few weeks ago, but I cannot figure out how Xcode is supposed to work: whenever I start a new project, I choose a template like "View-based application" or so. Now, the target will always (at least I did not find a preference anywhere!) be the latest SDK: 4.0. But then: switching the target back to, say, 3.1.3 the template files seem to contain errors! Starting an empty application this way yields an exception: Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSUnknownKeyException', reason: [...] this class is not key value coding-compliant for the key rootViewController sick Now, my (stupid) question: How do I develop an application NOT targeting the latest SDK, but the standard 3.1.3 SDK?? In other words: I would expect Xcode not only to ask for a project type in the New Project window, but also for my desired target!! Am I right that the templates generated with this step are not valid for any other target than 4.0? How can that be?? ...I want my Eclipse back! sigh Can anybody help me please?

• Why is it so difficult to get a working IDE for Scala?

  I recently gave up trying to use Scala in Eclipse (basic stuff like completion doesn't work). So now I'm trying IntelliJ. I'm not getting very far. This was the original error. See below for update: Scala signature Predef has wrong version Expected 5.0 found: 4.1 in .... scala-library.jar I tried both versions 2.7.6 and 2.8 RC1 of scala-*.jar, the result was the same. JDK is 1.6.u20. UPDATE Today I uninstalled IntelliJ 9.0.1, and installed 9.0.2 Early Availability, with the 4/14 stable version of the Scala plug-in. I have given my app the INTERNET permission. I'm developing with eclipse. I've seen it mentioned that I might need to configure a proxy but since the web service i'm calling is on port 80 this shouldn't matter should it? I can call the method with the browser. Any ideas?

• LinearLayout not expanding inside a ScrollView

  I have a LinearLayout inside a ScrollView that has android:layout_height="fill_parent", but it doesn't expand to the full height of the ScrollView. My layout looks something like: level layout layout_width layout_height 1 LinearLayout fill_parent fill_parent 2 LinearLayout fill_parent wrap_content 3 (some irrelevant stuff) 2 ScrollView fill_parent fill_parent <-- this expands full height 3 LinearLayout fill_parent fill_parent <-- this does not (has orientation=vertical) (following stuff probably are irrelevant, but just to be sure:) 4 TextView fill_parent fill_parent 4 LinearLayout fill_parent wrap_content I can see that the LinearLayout doesn't expand the full height of the ScrollView because in Eclipse in Android Layout Editor, if I select the ScrollView (in the Outline panel) it is highlighted with a red border that fills the screen to the bottom but when I select the LinearLayout its highlight doesn't expand to the bottom of the screen. How can I get it to do so? The effect I'm trying to achieve is to have some text and a button below it (inside the LinearLayout in level 4 there's just a button). The text can be big enough to need a scrollbar, in which case I want the user to have to scroll down in order to see the button. In case the text is not big enough for a scroll bar, I want the LinearLayout containing the button to stick to the bottom of the screen.
