  • Pound symbol not displaying on web page

    Hello I have a mysql database table to store country name and currency symbol - the CHARSET has correctly set to UTF8. This is example data inserted into the table insert into country ( country_name, currency_name, currency_code, currency_symbol) values ('UK','Pounds','GBP','£'); When I look in the database - the pound symbol appears fine - but when I retrieve it from the database and display it on the website - a weird square symbol shows up with a question mark inside instead of the pound symbol. However this is a bit different. I am using the sessions plugin (which works fine). On one page I have a set of normal drop downs, on submit you get taken to a separate page which runs the function above, however the rows/columns all show and they don't seem to filter at all.

  • Clickin issue in Flash and XML

    Hi, I have the php backend that displays an xml page with data for flash consuming. Flash takes it and creates a textfields dynamicaly based on this information. I have a few items in menu on top and when I click one of them, data is taken from php and everything is displayed in scroll in flash. The problem is that if I click too fast between menu items, then I get buggy layout.   • Hyperlinks to download files without stopping the current page load

    I've got an ASP.NET page that takes a long time to download and returns partial results as it's loading (as per my previous question). On the page I have some links to download files, ie. the response headers contain "Content-Disposition: attachment", so that the browser doesn't navigate away from the page. However, if the user clicks one of these links while the page is still loading it stops loading - normal behaviour, but not what I want in this case. I can get around that by adding target=_"blank" to the links, but this momentarily opens a new window and the closes it again (once the browser realises it's an "attachment"). Is there any way to avoid having those links stop the current page load without this new window trick? JavaScript is OK.

    I'm working on an ASP.NET project in which the vast majority of the forms are generated dynamically at run time (form definitions are stored in a DB for customizability). Therefore, I have to dynamically create and add my controls to the Page every time OnLoad fires, regardless of IsPostBack. This has been working just fine and .NET takes care of managing ViewState for these controls. protected override void OnLoad(EventArgs e) { base.OnLoad(e); RenderDynamicControls() } private void RenderDynamicControls(){ //1. call service layer to retrieve form definition //2. create and add controls to page container } I have a new requirement in which if a user clicks on a given button (this button is created at design time) the page should be re-rendered in a slightly different way. So in addition to the code that executes in OnLoad (i.e. RenderDynamicControls()), I have this code: protected void MyButton_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { RenderDynamicControlsALittleDifferently() } private void RenderDynamicControlsALittleDifferently() (){ //1. clear all controls from the page container added in RenderDynamicControls() //2. call service layer to retrieve form definition //3. create and add controls to page container } My question is, is this really the only way to accomplish what I'm after? It seems beyond hacky to effectively render the form twice simply to respond to a button click. I gather from my research that this is simply how the page-lifecycle works in ASP.NET: Namely, that OnLoad must fire on every Postback before child events are invoked. Still, it's worthwhile to check with the SO community before having to drink the kool-aid. On a related note, once I get this feature completed, I'm planning on throwing an UpdatePanel on the page to perform the page updates via Ajax. Any code/advice that make that transition easier would be much appreciated. Thanks

  • How can web form content be preserved for the back button

    When a web form is submitted and takes the user to another page, it is quite often the case that the user will click the Back button in order to submit the form again (the form is an advanced search in my case.) How can I reliably preserve the form options selected by the user when they click Back (so they don't have to start from scratch with filling the form in again if they are only changing one of many form elements?) Do I have to go down the route of storing the form options in session data (cookies or server-side) or is there a way to get the browser to handle this for me? (Environment is PHP/JavaScript - and the site must work on IE6+ and Firefox2+)

  • Firefox/vista not showing div tag

    Hi, I have a div tag which should be displayed at the bottom of a page given a set of circumstances. On my machine XP/IE, chrome, firefox, opera (all latest versions) the div shows up fine. But on my bosses machine, running vista with Firefox 3.6 for some reason the div tag is not showing up. However, if i go to another machine with vista and firefox the div tag shows up fine. My question is, what could have been set in firefox that would cause this div tag to now be displayed. Easy. How can i only select input elements that have a text type attribute? Alternativly is this possible using entirely CSS? The site works fine in all versions of FireFox and Chrome but when it comes to internet explorer. IE5 - The complete site is messed up with the alignments IE6 - Major Alignment problems. IE7 and 8 Works pretty good. Can someone please suggest some good methods to get rid of the cross browser issues with IE??
