  • Why is it so hard to share resource files (resx) with my Silverlight client?

    I'm trying to share a resource file (.resx file) from my web (RIA Service?Silverlight Host) to client (Silverlight) by linking the resource file into my client. When I try to access resources using the ResourceManager object I get the following error: System.Resources.MissingManifestResourceException was caught Message=Could not find any resources appropriate for the specified culture or the neutral culture.     I am wanting to pass something like the following to my view from my controller via GET not POST: public class MyDTO { public string val1 { get; set; } public string val2 { get; set; } public MyObject obj { get; set; } } public class MyObject { public int SomeInt { get; set; } public string ACoolValue { get; set; } public string YetAnotherCoolValue { get; set; } } And then the controller would like like this. (Note it is a GET): public ActionResult MyView(MyDTO dto) { return View(dto) } The problem is that the instance of MyObject is coming back as null, where val1 and val2 have data. Has anyone run across this?

  • dynamic 404.jsp using struts

    I would like to display an intelligent 404 page with some application data. Currently, there is a 'dumb' jsp, so I just forward to the view and I am done with it. But now I guess I really need to forward to an action so that I can set some more data to display on the error.jsp. How do I do it through configuration via struts-config? I need congifuration because I do not want to touch any individual files that might be forwarding to the existing view. I tried doing the fol, but I get an error and I dont see anything in the log. So currently, <forward name="ErrorView" path="/Error404.jsp" type="org.apache.struts.action.ActionForward"> </forward> What I want: <forward name="ErrorView" path="/errorAction.do" type="org.apache.struts.action.ActionForward"> </forward>

  • How to use Messageboxes in MVVM?

    It seems that the XAML in MVVM pattern has difficulty to pop-up a Messageboxes. My client insists that the validation labels and colors are not good for them. They still want a messagebox. How can do it? I know I can pop-up messageboxes in the view-model, but it violates the whole purpose for the view-model. I can also raise a error, and pop-up a messagebox in some exception handlers, but the messagebox is not an exception. It is part of the normal program flow. Is there a good way to do it in XAML? My client likes messageboxes. She does not care about the MVVM pattern, she never had any quality problem before using MVVM and unit test. But now, she can not even get her messageboxes, so she is not very happy. Your help is definitely appreciated ... I need to make her happy.

  • Rails table inheritance issue

    I've setup some models in the table inheritance fashion and everything seems to be all fine and dandy. But, when I use a collection select field to select values from one of the models it saves it but it saves the ID of the data and not the actual value of the data. So when I try to display the value on the show view it just shows the corresponding ID and not the actual value. Here is my setup. I'm using formtastic as a side note.   • Emacs with CEDET changes copy/paste to include trailing spaces?

    I just started trying out CEDET today, which I really like, but it seems to do something completely worthless with respect to copying/pasting. If I highlight some stuff and copy it, when it gets pasted back the newlines are eliminated and there is just a ton of trailing whitespace on each line. This is really worthless. All I have in my .emacs right now for CEDET is the following: (load-file "~/.emacs.d/cedet-1.0pre7/common/cedet.el") (require 'semantic-ia) (require 'semantic-gcc) (semantic-load-enable-code-helpers) Does anybody know how to turn this off? I can't find anything about this except that the CEDET main page says it has "magic copy & paste".

    Hello friends, I am using Every thing works fine except that, there are some pages like About Us, Contact Us, Privacy Policy etc, which do not need to login to view them. In my case i need to login to view all pages. I want these common pages to be viewable without having to log on.   • JSF skips phases - How to debug that?

    Hey fellows, I have to debug a foreign jsf application thanks god. The problem is, that I submit a form, but the values aren't carried over. With a phase listener I can see, that the life cycle doesn't run completely through, so to say it skips phase 2 -5: After the restore view phase, the render response phase is directly called. I miss the apply values, validation, update model actions and so on. So, this could be a chicken-and-egg problem: 1. The responsible phases aren't called, so the new form input can't be carried over. 2. The system doesn't recognize any new input and therefore directly renders after restoring the view. I checked that there is no call of responseComplete() oder renderResponse(). I'm stuck somehow. Any idea to validate one of the two hypothesis? Or how to debug that in general? Did anybody have a similar problem?

  • Opening IProject properties when another (adaptable to IProject) object is selected

    I have a custom view displaying a hierarchy model of the current project. The root element is of class MyProject which is my own class, but it represents one Eclipse IProject, and it's adaptable to IProject. I have a "properties" menu option in the popup menu for that view, and I'd like to open up IProject's properties when a MyProject object is selected. PropertyDialogAction only looks for property pages registered for MyProject and doesn't give me a chance to offer an adapter -- or, at least, I don't know how to offer one. What's the proper solution for this? In the meantime, I've overridden PropertyDialogAction to handle my class in the special way I require, but that seems like quite a kludge to get this done.

    I have this swf (flash) file that provides the json that needs to be sent to the server. I wrote a very simple jQuery: function submitForm(swf_json) { $('#swfjson').val(swf_json); #swfjson is an input of type hidden $('#titleForm').submit(); } and the swf will call the submitForm above and I receive the request.POST in django as usual. But, django is interpreting the swf_json as a string "Object object" >>>type(request.POST['swfjson']) <type 'unicode'> Of course I can pass the json as a string to the view function. Doesn't seem good to me. Any other way of passing the json object to the django view?

    I'm trying to figure out how to add records to an existing object for each iteration of a loop. I'm having a hard time discovering the difference between an object and an array. I have this @events = Event.find(1) @loops = Choices.find(:all, :limit => 5) #so loop for 5 instances of choice model for loop in @loops @events = Event.find(:all,:conditions => ["event.id = ?", loop.event_id ]) end I'm trying to add a new events to the existing @events object based on the id of whatever the loop variable is. But the ( = ) operator just creates a new instance of the @events object. I tried ( += ) and ( << ) as operators but got the error "You have a nil object when you didn't expect it! You might have expected an instance of Array. The error occurred while evaluating nil" I tried created an array events = [] events << Event.find(1) @loops = Choices.find(:all, :limit => 5) #so loop for 5 instances of choice model for loop in @loops events << Event.find(:all,:conditions => ["event.id = ?", loop.event_id ]) end But I dont know how to call that arrays attributes within the view With objects I was able do create a loop within the view and call all the attributes of that object as well... <table> <% for event in @events %> <tr> <td><%= link_to event.title, event %></td> <td><%= event.start_date %></td> <td><%= event.price %></td> </tr> <% end %> </table> How could i do this with an array set? So the questions are 1) Whats the difference between arrays and objects? 2) Is there a way to add into the existing object for each iteration? 3) If I use an array, is there a way to call the attributes for each array record within the view?

    Hi, I'm trying to use the jQuery colorbox plugin to show a little warning when a warning icon is clicked. Check out the problem: - Go to http://dev.imagineelection.com/browse/zip/10011 - Click on one of the warning icons (scroll down to see one). See how the colorbox that pops up is empty? I've tried to isolate the problem: - If you click "View Source" -- the div id="address-alert" is in there - If you click "View Generated Source" (for example, with Firefox Web Developer plugin) -- the div id="address-alert" has been taken out, but it has not been replaced inside the new div id="cboxCurrent" that colorbox has put at the top of the page The jQuery call I'm doing is: if (jQuery().colorbox) { $(".warning-class").colorbox({width:"50%", inline:true, href:"#address-alert"}); } What is going on? Why won't the inline content work?

    I'm looking to turn off try blocks for a specific JSP page (though turning it off globally would be OK as well). From what I've gathered, it looks something like this: <jsp-param> <param-name>noTryBlocks</param-name> <param-value>true</param-value> </jsp-param> However, everywhere I see that sample it's for a weblogic.xml file. Does anybody know how I can set this JSP parameters for a Spring MVC application? web.xml?   • Oracle, slow performance when using sub select

    I have a view that is very slow if you fetch all rows. But if I select a subset (providing an ID in the where clause) the performance is very good. I cannot hardcode the ID so I create a sub select to get the ID from another table. The sub select only returns one ID. Now the performance is very slow and it seems like Oracle is evaluating the whole view before using the where clause. Can I somehow help Oracle so SQL 2 and 3 have the same performance? I’m using Oracle 10g 1 slow select * from ci.my_slow_view 2 fast select * from ci.my_slow_view where id = 1; 3 slow select * from ci.my_slow_view where id in (select id from active_ids)

  • PHP Framework Benefits / Downfalls

    I have been a PHP developer for about 10 years now and until about a month ago I have never used a framework. The framework I am now using due to an existing codebase is cakePHP 1.2 I can see certain benefits of the frameworks with the basic helpers like default layouts. I can deffinately seen the benefits of MVC keeping the logic sperate etc. But the query building just seems to be bloated. Is this expected? Am I likely to be able to build better queries than the framework could build? I just feel I could get my apps running better without a framework. What are your thoughts?

    Hi, I am facing problem in creating an mvc application as sub-application of the asp.net application. My Mvc application is doing fine in development environment and even when it is deployed normally. However whenever I tried to deploy it as a sub-application of an asp.net application like http://mainapplication/mvcsubapplication I got an error The view 'Index' or its master could not be found. The following locations were searched: ~/Views/Home/Index.aspx ~/Views/Home/Index.ascx ~/Views/Shared/Index.aspx ~/Views/Shared/Index.ascx There is no problem in view naming since application is well tested in development environment. It only happens when I tried to deploy it as sub-app. remember I am deploying on a server with IIS 7.x installed on it. Any response will be appreciated. Thanx
