  Oracle recently held its fifth annual Eco-Enterprise Innovation awards ceremony during Oracle OpenWorld in San Francisco. Oracle Chairman of the Board, Jeff Henley, awarded select customers for their use of Oracle products to help with their sustainability initiatives. During this session, several award recipients discussed how they embedded various sustainability strategies throughout their organizations to help reduce their costs as well as their environmental footprint. It was an interesting session based around green best business practices and how Oracle products enabled many of these customers’ sustainability efforts. The winning customers for 2012 are: Dena Bank, Earth Rangers Centre, Grupo Pão de Açúcar, Health Authority – Abu Dhabi, Korean Air, North County Transit District, Orlando Utilities Commission, Ricoh – Europe, Schneider Electric, Severn Trent Water, and Terracap. Several of these winning customers also selected a partner to co-accept the award with them. These winning partners played a major role in helping these customers achieve their sustainability-related efforts..   I am working in a small company. I have joined here for java developer ,but they told as i am fresher so work as Android developer . Then i asked one of my lecturer about Android developement.then he replied why going for mobile developement which is not standard(as nokia's symbain lost , mobile os changes quickly ) its better to get job as Java Developer. By listening his words i was bit not satisfied with my job and thought of leaving Job and search as java developer. But i dont have much confidence to search a job at that time(because i got job after 1 and half years after i passed out), i have decided to work as android developer(as learning new technology and practice java at home). On the first day they introduced me to team leads and they assigned under him. After few days i came to know that my team lead is having only 1 year experience. He(my team lead) joined here as a fresher and done r&d now is my Team lead. If i ask any doubt to him , he just search in internet and reply's my question (some times he explains wrongly) i correct it by myself by searching in net.In my company they don't use latest technologies,they dont follow any design patterns because they dont know them. They provide me very less pay and more work, i dont bother about pay because i am fresher but i bother about work which is not use(I feel like that because they dont use latest technologies,no design patterns,no proper team lead) What i thought was to learn from the company, Team leads how the project done. But there I feel like, i am wasting my time.If i go for another interview in future they ask latest technologies. Now i dont know what to do weather to quit the job and learn another language which have good demand like sap abap or to continue here. please provide me advice Thanks.

• Current Technologies

  I currently work at the University of Kansas (KU) and before that Stanford University, to be particular the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center (SLAC).  Collaborating with various Higher Ed institutions the past several years has shown a marked increase in the Microsoft side of the house.  To give you an idea of our current environment, here are some of the things we (Enterprise Systems) have been working on the past two years I’ve been at KU: Migrated from Novell to Active Directory (AD), although we’re still leveraging Novell for IDM.  We currently have 550,000+ objects in AD, and we still have several departments to bring in. Upgraded from Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2010 and Forefront Online Protection for Exchange (FOPE) Implemented SCCM 2007 for Windows systems management Implemented central file storage using EMC products for the backend, using CIFS as the frontend Restructuring AD domains and Forests to decrease the administrative overhead and provide a primary authentication mechanism for the entire University Determining Key Performance Indicators for AD and Exchange Implemented SCOM 2007 to monitor AD and Exchange Implemented Confluence for collaboration within IT and other technology providers at the University Implemented Data Protection Manager (DPM) for backup of AD and Exchange Built a test and QA environment to better facilitate upcoming changes to the environment Almost ready to raise the AD domain level to 2008 R2   I’m sure I’m missing things, and my next post will be some of the things we’re getting ready for – like Centrify to provide AD for OS X and Linux systems.  If anyone would like more info on a particular area, please drop me a line.  I’d be happy to discuss.

• Ubuntu 12.04 NVIDIA GeForce Go 7600 black screen during boot

  I'm using Ubuntu as the only operating system since two years. In the first Ubuntu versions I had seen my BIOS screen and the boot screens. Actually im using Ubuntu 12.04 and my screen stays black until Ubuntu is started (both screens are missing). I guess this situation appeared the first time in Ubuntu 11 (not sure). I searched via google and tried the popular activities but was not able to fix my issue. I opened the laptop and checked all connections. I'm using boot option nomodeset. I had a look through many many web pages. I don't know how to continue and hope somebody could be helpful. • As a C# developer, would you learn Java to develop for Android or use MonoDroid instead?

  I'd consider myself pretty well versed in C#. It's my language of choice at the moment, and it's where basically all my professional experience lies. Still, I'm puzzled by the existence of the MonoDroid project. My understanding has always been that C# and Java are very close. Like, if you know one, you can learn the other really quickly. So, as I've considered developing my first Android app, I just assumed I would familiarize myself with Java enough to get started and then just sort of learn as I go. Wouldn't this make more sense than using MonoDroid, which is likely to be less feature-rich than the Java Android SDK, and requires learning its own API (albeit a .NET API) anyway? I just feel like it would be better to learn a new language (and an extremely popular one at that) and get some experience in it—when it's so close to what you already know anyway—rather than stick with a technology you're experienced with, without gaining any more valuable skills. Maybe I'm grossly misrepresenting the average potential MonoDroid user. Maybe it's more for people who are experienced in Java and .NET and just prefer .NET. Or maybe (in fact it's likely) there are other factors I just haven't considered. I'm just wondering, why would you use MonoDroid instead of just developing for Android using Java?

  It has been really quiet here but I wasted no time. I passed exam 70-630 - TS: Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007, Configuring and in this posting I will give you a short overview of this very-very easy exam exam. If you are not new to SharePoint Server 2007 and you have some development experiences then this is the easiest exam from Microsoft you have ever seen. There are 51 questions in this exam and two or four of them were not familiar to me. I took me about one hour to prepare for this exam and I got 964 of 1000. Okay, I have some years of experience as SharePoint developer but these questions seemed still too easy for me to be real. I mean based on this exam you cannot accurately say if somebody is able to configure SharePoint Server or not. I think this exam should be very easy also to SharePoint Server administrators who have at least some experience with supporting and maintaining production systems running on SharePoint Server 2007. Those who does not feel strong on SharePoint Server configuring my read a book suggested by Microsoft Learning site: Inside Microsoft® Office SharePoint® Server 2007. • Reclaim Vertical UI Space by Moving Your Tabs to the Side in Firefox

  Are you looking for a way to move your tabs to the side in Firefox and gain access to more vertical UI space? The Vertical Tabs extension for Firefox lets you accomplish both in a matter of moments. As soon as you install the extension and restart Firefox the Tab Bar will be automatically converted into a shiny new Vertical Tabs Sidebar. All that you have to do is start enjoying the extra vertical UI space. Some things to keep in mind when using the extension are: You can easily adjust the width of the sidebar to suit your needs using the mouse (very nice!) • KDE not loading without nomode tag in grub and bad resolution [migrated]

  I recently installed Linux Mint 13 KDE but it's not working fine. At first I had to use failsafe mode to boot because normal boot takes to a textual login. If I use normal boot and text login I'm not able to run KDE nor with kdm start neither with startx. kdm says that's already running. Instead X is not able to run because can't connect Xserver to display. If I stop kdm and starx again doesn't change anything. Now I edited the grub to load in nomode. In that way KDE loads but resolution is wrong and xrandr doesn't help, because if I do this: cvt 1366 768 it changes it to 1368: # 1368x768 59.88 Hz (CVT) hsync: 47.79 kHz; pclk: 85.25 MHz Modeline "1368x768_60.00" 85.25 1368 1440 1576 1784 768 771 781 798 -hsync +vsync I also installed bumblebee and nvidia drivers because of optimus technology.. It worked just to have fun with glxspheres but there isn't any gain on KDE..
