  I found a ton of formulae and what not, but 3D isn't my forte so I'm at a loss of what specifically to use. My goal is to convert the data in an 3D .obj file (vertices, normals, faces) to CSS3D (width, height, rotateX,Y,Z and/or similar transforms).   Internally we work with metric units and use decimal fractions for sub units, e.g. 1cm or 0.35cm or 23mm) We're building a user oriented design tool for laying out reports and was wondering what the most most common approach taken by UI developers who are still working in Imperial measurements (Inches etc.) when it comes to decimalised fractions. Most of my cultural references point to people using 1/2, 1/4, 1/8 or 1/32 inch when measuring fractions. But when faced with decimal equivalent what do people tend to do? For example do people use 0.5, 0.25, 0.125 etc or do you people roll these up to say 0.5, 03, and 0.1 inch? Sorry for the confusing question.

  i use AuroraMint as my themes. but some colors mess up my opera. when i use "gnome-appearance-properties-customize theme-Colors", i only can found input boxes' text color here. but i still want change background colors in email list (opera use GTK theme here). • Output current with Teensy++ 2.0 (arduino-based hardware)

  I am working on a project with a Teensy++ 2.0 for testing, eventually the goal is to use a Teensy 2.0 (info on both available here) and mount it onto a robot R/C car along with a Raspberry Pi. I have been able to use and test one of the very cheap distance sensors that use ultrasound, which requires very little current. I was trying to power a motor, I don't know exactly what kind of motor but I assume a very low-power one which is what comes with the R/C car cheapo, but nothing is happening. When I plug the motor to GROUND and +5V it runs fine, but when I use GROUND and one of the GPIO pins then nothing happens with the motor. The same GPIO pins were tested to successfully power and run the ultrasound sensor, so the board is fine. My suspicion is that the GPIO pins don't output enough current to power the motor, but my knowledge of electronics is rather scarce (I am a computer scientist, not an electrical engineer). So please forgive me if I am asking something obvious or plain stupid, but does the board not have enough power to power the motor? If so, I could try to use a second power supply that would go straight into the motor and use the GPIO as a gate to turn that power on and off; would such thing work? Is there a better design that could be used?

• Facing unity problems after upgrading to Ubuntu 12.04

  I upgraded to 12.04 and had problems with unity. So this is what I did 1) Ctrl + Alt + F1 sudo apt-get install compizconfig-settings-manager Export DISPLAY=:0 ccsm 2) Ctrl + Alt + F7 3) Enabled unityplugin 4) Ctrl + Alt + F1 unity --replace it worked with a couple of error messages now I have to put in start up application export DISPLAY=:0 unity --replace NVIDIA software recognises my monitor but ubuntu sees it as laptop. something isn't right can someone point out what info I need to put here for people to help. I have been upgrading this from 8 ish so have altered lots especially when compiz fusion first came out. Also if I run recovery session and type 'unity --replace' it starts and runs fine.

• How can I add a custom item to the Sound Indicator?

  One of the strength of Unity are the various standardized indicators. I want to customize the sound indicator with an additional menu entry that runs a small shell script. I'm not afraid of a little Python code and I hope someone can point me to the right subroutine in the right file. I suspect that will be fairly easy but all the indicators are just so bloated that I can't look through their code in a reasonable time. Any help is appreciated. I know it is possible as the marvelous Skype-Wrapper does it.

• Getting wireless N to work on Dell Vostro 3300?

  I have a Dell Vostro 3300, which has a Broadcom BCM4313 wireless. The point is that I cannot make it work in N mode. NetwotkManager applet says I'm on 54 Mbit/s. Of course, my wireless router is N capable. I've double checked. Anyone knows what to do?   Hey all I'm just trying to add another quad to my frustum and when doing so I get this weird little error. What happens is the bottom left side of my quad seems to stick to the center point for no apparent reason that I can think of and or figure out from. has anyone else experienced this issue and knows a solution or would you like more information please do ask. here is my main.cpp file http://pastebin.com/g9q8uAsd I think its because of 2 different quad vertex array data is in the same array.

• Using fix-boot but still stuck

  I have a laptop I used to use for college that was Ubuntu 10.4 /Vista / Win7. I pulled it out and proceeded to install 12.04 advanced partitioning. It was sda1 ubuntu / swap / vista / and sda5 win7. I deleted the ubuntu, swap and vista, leaving 7 alone. I'm using it now but can't get to win7. I used fix-boot several times using variations on the advanced menus. So I finally purged grub and forced grup-pc in the advanced setting of fix-boot.   I'd like to find a hosting solution for my personal, fairly low-traffic, web site. I think Google Sites would suit me perfectly, but I've heard horror stories about Google's algorithms shutting down all your accounts on a whim, with no right of appeal, so I'm naturally worried, because I don't want to lose my Gmail. Edit I'm talking about cases like this one: I tried contacting somebody at Google support ("Surely they should have a support department, right?" Nope, wrong!) (The victim managed to regain access to his Gmail account when his case went "viral", but he never got an explanation as to why he had been locked out in the first place) Are there good, preferably free, alternatives to Google Sites and what are their PROs and CONs?   I had follow this link to setup my first virtual host with apache2 under ubuntu 12.x. Looks easy but is not working. [How to][1] My internal dns can resolv the name, but my browsers is not showing me my webpage. from my lan, Im using ubuntu server no GUI. Every time I point to my virtual host name, I receive apache default page, I cannot see my custom page. My docs are under /home/mydomain/public_html This is my settings: ServerAdmin webmaster@localhost ServerName example.com DocumentRoot /home/example.com/public_html Options FollowSymLinks AllowOverride None Options Indexes FollowSymLinks MultiViews AllowOverride None Order allow,deny allow from all The rest of the file is the same. • Is there a way to specify a CSS3 transition to occur only on :hover and when returning from hover, not on every event? [closed]

  You could define the transition on the :hover event, which causes the browser to render only the effect into the hover and not out of it. a:hover { transition... } Using scale as an example, an image being scaled up would scale up on hover, but go straight back down without any transition when the cursor leaves the image. Or, you can set the transition on the element directly: a { transition... } Which by definition means any change that effects the scale of the element such as any developer set styles will work, but also the user zooming in and out the page, will cause there to be a transition. All the tutorials being spewed onto the internet at the moment point to using the latter, but wouldn't one consider this a usability flaw for anyone wanting to resize the page or taking any other action that may cause similar scenarios? Pages with large amounts of transitional hover scaling can go pretty mental if you zoom in and out of them.

• ASUS U24a can't boot without live disk

  I recently picked up a new ASUS U24a while travelling in asia. I've managed to go through hell with the UEFI setup, and finally now have a working GRUB. However, I can't manage to get past the "Loading initial ramdisk". If I boot the live CD-USB (only in BIOS legacy mode), I get a wonderful, working Ubuntu. I finally managed to get UEFI installed on the hard-drive (no option for legacy BIOS boot, or I'd be there in a flash!), and can boot in UEFI mode into GRUB2. But... I can't manage to get past the "loading initial ramdisk". It appears that the disk drivers are failing (there is no disk activity after this point). • Running Windows 7 physical disk virtualized under Linux

  I have an existing Windows 7 installation that I'd like to virtualize under Linux. Windows boots fine on Disk A, Linux boots fine on Disk B. (Both disks are SATA.) I can mount the Windows disk when in Linux. I've tried VirtualBox and VMWare Player and neither will allow me to boot from the other disk. VirtualBox doesn't seem to have the option to do so. VMWare Player has the option to have an IDE drive exposed to the virtual environment as a SCSI disk. I've tried that, but it throws the error "Cannot connect virtual device ide1:0 because no corresponding device is available on the host." I've verified that it's pointing to the correct hard drive. I'm willing to try other virtualization products, and I'm not averse to spending a little money to get this to work. I've seen this other question, and it's not a duplicate, as I haven't gotten that far yet. I'm also interested in solutions going the other way (Linux on Windows), but that'd be lagniappe. Gory Hardware Details: Lenovo T410, 2.4 GHz Core i5 (has virtualization extensions), 4GiB RAM, 2x 320 GiB SATA HDD, one in optical bay. Fedora 14 2.6.35.10-74.fc14.x86_64, Windows 7 32-bit.

• can't open youtube or vimeo

  I can't open Youtube.com on computer with lubuntu and mint. I see that my flash works properly on other sites. Problem is in for example on youtube (yming.com loading without endless) and vimeo. I tried to use firefox and chromium. I thought that it would be problem with dns (I have dns from DHCP - opendns) so I changed to google dns but it didn't help to solve problem. When I use text browser - Links these site are opening well in text mode. I think that the problem is with flash or java. On other computer with windows connected to the same network these sites are being opened without problem. I am on the point that I don't know what to do next, because I tried to install and uninstall flash several times. I tried Flash-Aid as well.

• Video playing is slow on 12.04

  I started using Ubuntu a very short time ago, and it was working perfectly! I upgraded to 12.04 yesterday, and today I realize that everything is running slow. For example, video streaming online, from sites such as Youtube is not working correctly, audio and video breaks constantly. I have a 64 bit system, with a Intel® Core™2 Duo, 2.10GHz × 2 . I don't know what more to add. I tried free -m on the terminal, it returned that I had only 524MB free from 3858MB. All that i have running at this point is Mozilla Firefox.

  lately I tryed a few times to create charakters for some games, but at some certain point (especially when collision detection came in) everything became messy and the interaction between chars, the world and certain items had a lot of bugs. So here is my question, how do you ussualy keep track of actions that your charakter is allowed to do, or more in general do you have some links / advices how to set up a char efficiantly? I´m working on a char right now, who should at least be able to run, jump, pick items up and use different fighting animations. Most ideas I came up with until now use some kind of action.priority / action.duration system to determain whats possible and what not, or a "action-manager" which defines for every action what is possible from that action on but it all doesnt work that well together =\ thx in advance for some input

I am open to learn new Programming Languages to develop the software for this barcode scanner. From which I see on our meeting. It uses Windows or Windows Mobile as OS. Can someone direct me to a tut site or just tell me what language I should use? Requirements is mostly, Log In, UI Entry of Details + Barcode, Process Button. Connection To SQL Server via Wifi Access Point to call the procedure afterwards. I am not developing a Barcode scanner, I am developing a UI Software like a Mobile App. I tried to google but I dont know what exact keywords I should search for. My question is, what PL is mostly used to develop this kind of softwares.
