  • Browser displays page without styles for a short moment (visual glitch)

    I have observed that, very infrequently, Internet Explorer (7 or 8, it does not matter) displays our web pages (www.epsitec.ch) a short time without applying the CSS. The layout appears completely broken, with everything displayed sequentially from top to bottom. When the page has finished loading, everything finally gets displayed properly. Our web pages do not use any fancy scripting, just two javascript inclusions for QuantCast and Google Analytics, done at the end of the page. By the way, we already had the issue before adding the QuantCast script.   • Stacking two pictures with captions side by side and centered in Wordpress

    Hi all - this is driving me absolutely nuts. I'm not the most experienced with CSS, so I'm hoping it is something simple. I'm running Wordpress 2.9.2 with "The Morning After" theme. I am trying to write a post where I want to display two small pictures, with captions, side-by-side and centered in the middle of the page. Here is the HTML code I am using to display the images: [caption align="alignnone" width="150" caption="Protein rest"] <a href="http://www.mysite.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/06/protein-rest.jpg"> <img title="Mash during protein rest" src="http://www.mysite.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/06/protein-rest-150x144.jpg" alt="Mash during protein rest" width="150" height="144" /> </a>[/caption] [caption align="alignnone" width="143" caption="Saccharification rest" captionalign="center"] <a href="http://www.mysite.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/06/saccharification-rest.jpg"> <img title="Mash during saccharification rest" src="http://www.mysite.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/06/saccharification-rest-143x150.jpg" alt="Mash during saccharification rest" width="143" height="150" /> </a>[/caption] I tried using "aligncenter" and "alignleft" for the caption align - if I use "alignleft" the pictures are lined up perfectly, but all the way to the left of the page. If I use "aligncenter" the pics are in the center, but stacked one on top of the other. My first thought was to wrap the images in a div using: <div style="text-align:center;">image code</div> but that doesn't work. Now, if I wrap in a centered div like that and omit the [caption] tags, it works, but I need the captions. Those caption tags are translated by Wordpress into it's own div of class wp-caption. I've also tried wrapping each separate image in its own div within a parent centered div wrapper. Here is the pertinent parts of the style.css - please let me know if you need any other info, and if you can help me, I will postpone jumping off the nearest bridge! Thanks!!     Hello, Here a simple django model: class SomeModel(models.Model): title = models.CharField(max_length=100) video = models.FileField(upload_to='video') I would like to save any instance so that the video's file name would be a valid file name of the title. For example, in the admin interface, I load a new instance with title "Lorem ipsum" and a video called "video.avi". The copy of the file on the server should be "Lorem Ipsum.avi" (or "Lorem_Ipsum.avi"). Thank you :)

  • What could cause "Connection Interrupted" on LocalHost when debugging in ASP.NET

    I'm trying to run a freshly created ASP.NET Website using C#, however when I do so it launches FireFox and attempts to connect to http://localhost:1295/WebSite1/Default.aspx (for example), but after about 10-15 seconds it displays a "Connection Interrupted - The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading." Error. This issue is also present with older ASP.NET C# pages/Web Services I've built in the past, nothing is actually running off the ASP.NET Development server. I am using: Windows XP Pro SP2, Visual Studio 2008 For reference I have SQL Server 2005 Developer Edition installed as well. I have tried: Browsing it with IE instead of Mozilla Trying 2.0 framework instead of 3.5 Reinstalling Visual Studio 2008 This problem seems so trivial the more I think about it, but I havn't been able to work it out just yet! Appreciate any help on the matter.

    I've defined a view with the cck and view2 modules. I would like to quickly define a template specific to this view. Any tutorial or information on this ? What are the files I need to modify ? Here are my findings: (Edited) In fact there are two ways to theme a view : the "field" way and the "node" way. In "edit View", you can choose "Row style: Node", or "Row style: Fields". with the "Node" way, you can create a node-contentname.tpl.php wich will be called for each node in the view. You'll have access to your cck field values with $field_name[0]['value']. (edit2) You can use node-view-viewname.tpl.php wich will be only called for each node displayed from this view. with the "Field" way, you add a views-view-field--viewname--field-name-value.tpl.php for each field you want to theme individually. Thanks to previous responses, I've used the following tools : In the 'Basic Settings' block, the 'Theme: Information' to see all the different templates you can modify. The Devel module's "Theme developer" to quickly find the field variable names. View 2 documentation, especially the "Using Theme" page.

    I had an argument with a colleague about the best way to assign a variable in an if..else block. His orignal code was : @products = if params[:category] Category.find(params[:category]).products else Product.all end I rewrote it this way : if params[:category] @products = Category.find(params[:category]).products else @products = Product.all end This could also be rewritten with a one-liner using a ternery operator (? :) but let's pretend that product assignment was longer than a 100 character and couldn't fit in one line. Which of the two is clearer to you? The first solution takes a little less space but I thought that declaring a variable and assigning it three lines after can be more error prone. I also like to see my if and else aligned, makes it easier for my brain to parse it!

  • Debugging ASP.NET on a built-in web server suddenly stops

    I have Windows Server 2008 (64-bit), VS 2008 with its built-in webserver and an ASP.NET MVC 1.0 webapp. All I'm trying to do is to debug said app. I have a bunch of breakpoints, but they behave in a very strange way. When I fist start a debugging session with F5 and hit a breakpoint, the debugger stops just fine. However, after serveral F10s/F11s debugging suddenly "stops" (no exceptions at that time), but neither VS detaches from browsers' process, nor webapp execution stops: Visual Studio stays attached, and web request continues executing as usual. I tried various browsers (Chrome, Firefox, IE), but to no avail. What do I do to solve this? It really drives me insane.

    I have a very strange problem with Visual Source Safe. I use VSS as a add-on with VS 2008 in a corporate intranet with 5 other colleagues. My VS stops working after 5 p.m. most of days with complaining can not connect Source Safe. I'm running VS 2008 and VSS 2005 on Vista and no other one in corporate have such a problem. What do you think about its cause? Is there any log for VSS?

  • JToolbar is hidden by JMenu

    I'm using Netbeans to add a JToolbar to my window which also has a JMenuBar. Here is the design-time look: .. but during run-time I get this: With the toolbar seemingly partially hidden under the menu names. This is on the Mac, btw. Is there something stupid I've forgotten to do or some layout trick I should be using? EDIT: I'll add that the area below the toolbar is a SplitContainer.
