  I have a private final field in one class and then I want to address that field in a subclass. I want to change field access/visibility modifier from private to protected, so I don't have to call getField() method from subclass and I can instead address that field directly (which is more clear and cohessive). Will there be any side effects or complications if I change private to protected for a final field? UPDATE: from logical point of view, it's obvious that descendant should be able to directly access all predecessor fields, right? But there are certain constraints that are imposed on private final fields by JVM, like 100% initialization guarantee after construction phase(useful for concurrency) and so on. So I would like to know, by changing from private to protected, won't that or any other constraints be compromised?

  How do I get my webpage not to go back when they hit the back button and are logged out and how can I add a web page to be blocked like FACEBOOK doesn't let you get into their site with out having a page or a account with them, and if you try to put something in the url and try to go to something on their site it gives you a web page that says "you have to be logged in first" . Like I don't want someone going to the url of the "index" page before they have signed up as a member they need to make an account first then they can have access to the "index" page. How do I do this. I have a website so far that has a database and the website has 5 pages so far and two of them which is the login and sign up page which are both used with php and mysql and they work fine. How do I restrict access to the main website by first having the users sign up with me for an account.

  I have an Apache webserver, and in the Apache configuration, I have Alias /backups "/backups" <Directory "/backups"> AllowOverride None Options Indexes Order allow,deny Allow from all </Directory> I can access files via http://127.0.0.1/backups. The problem is everyone can access that. I have a web interface, e.g. http://localhost/adminm that is protected with htaccess and password. Now I don't want separate .htaccess and .htpasswd for /backups, and I don't want a second password prompt when a user clicks on /backups in the web interface. Is there any way to use same .htaccess and .htpasswd for the backups directory?

• How to limit concurrent file access on a Samba share?

  I have a Ubuntu 12.04 file server running Samba. There are 6 windows machines that access the server, as well as two people that will occasionally access files remotely. The problem that I am having is that the CAD/CAM software we are using doesn't seem to request file locks, meaning if two people open a file at the same time, the first person to close the file will get their changes overwritten if the second person saves the file. I tried changing the smb.conf to strict locking = yes but this doesn't seem to have any effect. File locking with excel seems to work fine, so I know that Samba is using the file locks...if they were put on the file in the first place. Is there a way (either in Samba or Ubuntu) to only allow one user to have a file open at a time? If not does anyone have any suggestions for managing a problem like this?

  One of the New User Interface Platforms in SharePoint 2010 is ‘The Dialog Platform’ A dialog is essentially a <div> which gets visible on demand and renders the HTML using a background overlay creating a modal dialog like user experience. We can show an existing div from within the page or a different page using a URL inside the dialogs. When we pass the URL to the dialog it looks for the Querystring parameter “IsDlg=1”. If this parameters exists than it would dynamically load the "/_layouts/styles/dlgframe.css” file. This file overrides the “s4-notdlg” class items as “display:none”, which means that all items with this class would not get displayed in Dialog Mode.  So if we go to the v4.master page we can see that this class is used by the Ribbon control to hide the ribbon when in dialog mode: How to open the Edit Form Dialog for List Item: In SharePoint 2010 The URL for opening the Edit Form of any list item looks like something like this : http://intranet.contoso.com/<SiteName>/Lists/<ListName>/EditForm.aspx?ID=1&IsDlg=1 ID is the list item row identifier and as discussed above the IsDlg is for the dialog mode.   Am the administrator of my Ubuntu system. Recently I added a new user account. But when ever the user tries to access or open the 'Volumes'(Drives where movies, songs and other files are stored) it asks for the Administrator's password. I created the user account to my other family members and I don't want to tell them my password. So is it possible to allow them to access the Volumes without asking Administrator's password ? UPDATE : Ubuntu was installed alongside Windows in my system. I will provide a screenshot of the Volume details -

  I have Opera set as my default browser but it is the same for Firefox. When opening a link in Liferea, the link open in an external browser and the browser gets focus. I would like to open the links in background (so that the browser does not get focus). The only solution is to set Focus prevention level to Normal in the Focus & Raise Behaviour tab of General options in CCSM. But this messes things for other things. DO you have any other idea? I am using Unity on 11.10.

• How do i allow non-root access to /ttyUSB0 on 12.04?

  Since i updated from 10.04 to 12.04, i am unable to acces the device connected in /ttyUSB0 if i dont have root access. To be more specific, i use a usb-to-serial com port converter to acces and configure Cisco equipment with a software called Putty. It happens that, since i upgraded to 12.04, Putty only sees the connected device when i run it as "gksudo putty". If not, it says "unable to connect to port /ttyUSB0". I have managed to change the permissions via chmod 666, and it works, but if i disconnect the usb and reconnect, it goes back to root only. How do i permanently allow non-root access? I have a clue it might be via udev rules, but i have NO IDEIA how to do it. obs. Manufacturer and drivers "PROLIFIC"

  I have a Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc phone and I cannot access its SD card through the USB cable provided. I have set the USB connection mode to MSC yet when I connect the phone to my computer I cannot see the SD card (or anything for that matter). The Disk Utility however, does see an SEMC Mass Storage device but it says that no media was detected. I have validated that the SD card works as I removed it from the camera and plugged it into a card reader and saw all the photos and files stored on it. I have validated that the phone works as I have connected it (in MSC mode) to my wife's Windows 7 computer. Can anyone please tell me how I can access the SD card on my phone.
