  • Pound symbol not displaying on web page

    Hello I have a mysql database table to store country name and currency symbol - the CHARSET has correctly set to UTF8. This is example data inserted into the table insert into country ( country_name, currency_name, currency_code, currency_symbol) values ('UK','Pounds','GBP','£'); When I look in the database - the pound symbol appears fine - but when I retrieve it from the database and display it on the website - a weird square symbol shows up with a question mark inside instead of the pound symbol.   • Symfony sfDoctrinePager with multiple tables

    I was wondering how to get this to run. In my application I have a Category table and Product table. I need to have a pager which combines both Categories and Products for display in one list (first categories then products). Is there a way to get this going ? I tried left joining in the pager's query, but doesn't seem to do the trick.

  • Adding row to Datalist

    I have been searching around the web for a solution to this issue but have come across nothing so far. Basically I have a table as shown below, whhich i made up of itemtemplate fields and is populated by a dataset from my database. It shows brands to the user of which they can then click and go onto another page. I need to add another option to the table called "All Brands". Thus then I can use this to go to a page showing all the brands.     I have this table. I want to select back the items that don't exist already, so I can create them. table tags +---------+-------+ | tagId | name | | 1 | C | | 2 | DX | | 3 | CG | Say SQL looks like: select name from tags where name in ( 'C', 'CG', 'RX' ) You get back 'C' and 'CG', so you know you have to create 'RX'. Is there a way to get a MySQL statement like this to return 'RX' instead, when 'RX' doesn't already exist?

    I've got a query that currently queries a Post table while LEFT JOINing a Comment table. It fetches all Posts and their respective Comments. However, I want to limit the number of Comments returned. I tried adding a sub-select, but ran into errors if I didn't LIMIT the results to 1. I'm really not sure how to go about this while still using only one query. Is this possible?

    in my objects table i have id | type | parent | order | created and then in my data table i have object_id | key | value i want to get object of type 'x' where key 'y' === 'z' in the most optimal way possible. ie. get user where slug === 'jonny' i'm currently doing it with joins, because i'm doing this in mysql as a quick test. but i'll be moving to redis or a similar key/value storage system so obviously that won't work.

The temp user table would allow logging and potentially be less of a hit on the server correct? Is there a best practice here?
