• Calling Tortoise from command line and build if new code (how to know if tortoise updated anything)?

  I am writing a batch file which is supposed to update the source files from tortoise and - if anything new was gotten - build the solution. Should be a very simple task. My batchfile looks like this (I've removed the non-essentials) set updatepath=%1 set solution=%2 set output=%3.txt call TortoiseProc.exe /command:update /path:%updatepath% /closeonend:2 call %devenv% %solution% /Build Debug /Out %output% Now, I'd like to know if tortoise actually got new code for me and the not build if it didn't. How do I do this? I am running Windows Vista (The batch script is called from another batch script about 7 times - one for each project I need updated and - perhaps - build).

• Can a function defined in a bookmarklet be called from a page-level script?

  I have a bookmarklet that needs to open a new window/tab. In order to avoid the popup blocker, I need to call the window.open() method directly in the bookmarklet ie: at the browser-level. However, I want to keep the bookmarklet updatable by loading external Javascript files. To do this, the bookmarklet needs to append script nodes to the DOM. If i were to put window.open() code in one of these externally loaded scripts, the popup blocker would block it since its page-level. What I want to know is if I can create a wrapper function around window.open() in my bookmarklet, then call it from the externally loaded script? What is the scope and what are the permissions on a wrap such as this?

• How to decide if a parameter is the click event

  I have a function which can be called by either a click event or directly. When I call it directly, I need pass it a data parameter, so I've defined the function to accept a parameter to account for the direct call with the parameter. function myFunc(param){ } Within the function, I need to differentiate whether the function was called directly or from the click event, so what I thought I could simply check if param is set. If it's set, then the function is called directly. If it's not set, then it's called from the click event. The problem is that a click event by default passes an event object. So even when the function is called by the click event, param won't be null. So is there a way to check whether the param passed is the click event?

• Hudson: where to download file and stop specific builds running ?

  I have a file that is generated inside (hudson server) /var/lib/hudson/jobs/jobtitle/1/out.txt I need to fetch this file, but doing a GET request for http://myhudson:8090/job/jobtitle/1/out.txt doesn't actually locate the file. Basically, I have another box that will grab this file from the hudson server. This box will make the out.txt file available for download. Another challenge is the build number directories. How would I be able to use the hudson API to stop or delete the specific builds running ? I am forced to do iterate through all build numbers to send STOP or DELETE api call in php using wget to do the REST API call.   I am trying to create an MSI package that uses the AppCmd application to configure IIS7. It only has to execute some commands that call AppCmd. Some commands need to be called when installing, other commands need to be called when uninstalling. What is my problem: to be able to make phone call I need to add a permission to manifest file - <uses-permission android:name="android.permission.CALL_PHONE" /> This permission makes application incompatible with tablets. If I remove the permission, app cant make calls being launched on phone. How to make an app, that supports both phones and tablets and allow to make calls from phones?

I tried using Python to call execfile for every *.py file in dirBar, which runs once for the first .py file found & exits the calling test.py, plus then I have to duplicate my code by adding unittest.main() in every source file--which violates DRY principles.

When this function is called the Session variable is assigned the Key I sent with the Value I sent.   I'm wondering if there is a better way to approach this problem. The objective is to reuse code. Let’s say that I have a Linq-To-SQL datacontext and I've written a "repository style" class that wraps up a lot of the methods I need and exposes IQueryables. (so far, no problem). Now, I'm building a service layer to sit on top of this repository, many of the service methods will be 1<-1 with repository methods, but some will not. This service is going to be exposed through WCF and that each of these public IEnumerable methods will be calling a .Select(m => m.ToViewModel()) on each returned collection which will convert it to a POCO for serialization. The service will eventually need to expose some context.SomeOtherTable which wont be wrapped into the repository.

• What do you name the "other" kind of view-model in an MVVM project?

  With MVVM, I think of a view-model as a class that provides all the data and commands that a view needs to bind to. But what happens when I have a database entity object, say a Customer, and I want to build a class that shapes or flattens the Customer class for use in a data grid. For example, maybe this special Customer object would have a property TotalOrders, which is actually calculated using a join with a collection of Order entities. My question is, what do I call this special Customer class? In other situations, I'd be tempted to call it a CustomerViewModel, but I feel like "overloading" the notion of a view-model like this would be confusing in an MVVM project. What would you suggest?

  Scala does not permit to create laze vars, only lazy vals. It make sense. But I've bumped on use case, where I'd like to have similar capability. I need a lazy variable holder. It may be assigned a value that should be calculated by time-consuming algorithm. But it may be later reassigned to another value and I'd like not to call first value calculation at all. Example assuming there is some magic var definition lazy var value : Int = _ val calc1 : () => Int = ... // some calculation val calc2 : () => Int = ... // other calculation value = calc1 value = calc2 val result : Int = value + 1 This piece of code should only call calc2(), not calc1 I have an idea how I can write this container with implicit conversions and and special container class. I'm curios if is there any embedded scala feature that doesn't require me write unnecessary code

I am trying to use the following method call which the documentation says is availble in 2.0 and later: - (void)addValue:(NSString *)value forHTTPHeaderField:(NSString *)field; I am attempting to build for version 3.2 and 4.0.   Hi, on one of my web pages I want my manager user to view all activities assigned to them (personally). In order to do this, I need something like this: $sql = "SELECT * FROM activities WHERE manager = $_SESSION['SESS_FULLNAME']"; Now obviously this syntax is all wrong, but because I am new to this stuff, is there a way I can call up the full name from the user's session within a query? This is so that when I call up the database values to be displayed within the web page, only the activities for the manager who is logged in is displayed. For example, the activities table has a manager column of a full name entry. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks.

• rake tast can't access rails.cache

  Hi I want to call a rake task from a cron job that stores remote weather data in the rails cache. However, I must be doing something pretty wrong here because I cannot find any solution through countless fruitless searches. Say I define and call this task namespace :weather do desc "Store weather from remote source to cache" task :cache do Rails.cache.write('weather_data', Date.today) end end I get the error Anonymous modules have no name to be referenced by Which leads me to believe the rails cache isn't available. Outputting Rails.class from the rake file gives me Module but Rails.cache.class again returns the above error. Do I need to include something here?   Hi All, I'm using .Net 4.0 parallel library. The tasks I execute, ask to run some other task, sometimes synchronically and somethimes asynchronically, dependending on some conditions which are not known in advanced. For async call, i simply create new tasks and that's it. I don't know how to handly sync call: how to run it from the same thread, maybe that sync tasks will also ask to execute sync tasks recursively. all this issue is pretty new to me. thanks in advance.

• Why in Objective-C, we use self = [super init] instead of just [super init]?

  In a book, I saw that if a subclass is overriding a superclass's method, we may have self = [super init]; First, is this supposed to be done in the subclass's init method? Second, I wonder why the call is not just [super init]; ? I mean, at the time of calling init, the memory is allocated by alloc already (I think by [Foobar alloc] where Foobar is the subclass's name. So can't we just call [super init] to initialize the member variables? Why do we have to get the return value of init and assign to self? I mean, before calling [super init], self should be pointing to a valid memory allocation chuck... so why assigning something to self again? (if assigning, won't [super init] just return self's existing value?)

  I created a file .htaccess in the /var/www directory., The rights are root root --wxrwxrwxr The content of the file is : Options +FollowSymlinks RewriteEngine on RewriteLogLevel 3 RewriteLog "/var/log/apache2/rewrite.log" RewriteRule ^(.*?)$ testphp.php When I call the page phpinfo.php, I've got: Loaded Modules ... mod_rewrite ... Therefore, the modules is loaded Afer each modification,I restared the server manually with sudo /etc/init.d/apache2 restart The error.log gives Apache/2.2.14 (Ubuntu) PHP/5.3.2-1ubuntu4.2 with Suhosin-Patch configured -- resuming normal operations When I call a page anyone.htm or anyone.php, the rewrite.log does contain nothing and the real page is called. If I understand, the page anyone.php should be replaced by testphp.php Did I make siomething wrong ? Thanks

• Change the value of a dropdown if it is equal to something

  Sorry if this question has already been asked and answered, but I couldn't find anything specifically for my needs. I have a form that has placeholders and javascript to make sure the form isn't submitted with the placeholders still there. There is a dropdown box that has the value of 'Best time to call'. What I want to do is if this value is passed as the default, I want it to change to something like "n/a" or a blank value. I have achieved this with the comments box using the following javascript, but it doesn't seem to work the same for the dropdown: var comments=document.getElementById('comments').value; if (comments=="Comments") { document.getElementById('comments').value=""; } This isn't a required field so I can't have an alert come up, so I just need to value to be changed if submitted as 'Best time to call'. Hope I have explained everything correctly
