Colgroup in ffox/chrome

I am testing the <colgroup> tag on a 5 columns table, with a style attribute. I can't seem to make it work on firefox 3.6/chrome 5 tho, and this is when I started searching for the reference on w3c. It seemed like my code was perfectly fine, but looking at the w3c editor I noticed not even that was working. Only IE8 seems to work correctly, opera 10.51 ignores the style tag but applies the align tag correctly, while ffox and chrome seems to ignore colgroup completely. So what am I (and w3c) doing wrong? Was colgroup deprecated and I missed it?

Display the form again ?

Hi all, I want to ask about the form in javascript .. I want to do a game that the user enter the correct word, then alert message will apeared for correct word.. Using CSS, how can I make overflow:visible; contents overlap adjacent <td> cells?

I have the following CSS style code for my table: td { overflow: hidden; white-space:nowrap; } td:hover { overflow: visible; } However, when I hover over a <td> element whos contents (text) are hidden, the result is that the contents become visible but are behind the content of the adjacent cell (right side). I do not think that z-index can be applied to table cell elements, so is there a CSS attribute that I can specify within my td:hover style which will make the content of my <td> tag overlap the content in adjacent cells?

How do I change the color settings in emacs23 running in a terminal console?

I use xterm and set its appearance in ~/.Xdefaults: XTerm*background: paleTurquoise XTerm*foreground: black I also use emacs, but set its appearance differently in ~/.emacs: (set-background-color "black") (set-foreground-color "yellow") I usually run emacs within the terminal console with emacs -nw, rather than creating a separate X window. For some reason, this doesn't work properly for emacs23; instead, emacs retains the pale turquoise background of my xterm window. Looking at what's new in emacs23, I noted that: ** When running in a new enough xterm (newer than version 242), Emacs asks xterm what the background color is and it sets up faces accordingly for a dark background if needed (the current default is to consider the background light). So it's a feature, not a bug? Anyway, is there some way that I can I tell emacs23 to ignore the xterm background settings when running in console mode, and use the settings in ~/.emacs instead? I'll also note that: Running M-x set-background-color within emacs23 -nw has no effect. It works fine in emacs23 running in a separate X window (without the -nw option). It worked fine in emacs22; and I'm not really sure whether I need to use emacs23... It's not just xterm: the same problem exists with $TERM=cygwin, for example.

Performance differences between iframe hiding methods?

Is there a major performance difference between the following: <iframe style="visibility:hidden" /> <iframe style="width:0px; height:0px; border:0px" /> I'm using a hidden iframe to pull down and parse some information from an external server. If the iframe actually attempts to render the page, this may suck up a lot of CPU cycles. Of course, I'd ideally just want to get the raw markup - for example, if I could prevent the iframe from loading img tags, that would be perfect.

I'm writing a Firefox extension that creates a socket server which will output the active tab's URL when a client makes a connection to it. If I open multiple windows, it ignores the additional windows. I think it is creating a server socket for each window, but since they are using the same port, the additional sockets fail to initialize. I need it to create a server socket when the browser launches and continue running when I close the windows (Mac OS X). As it is, when I close a window but Firefox remains running, the socket closes and I have to restart firefox to get it up an running. How do I go about that?

jcarousel not getting drawn inside a hidden div

I am struggling since hrs on this one now. I am using a div to populate a ul/li list and then draw a jcarousel out of it. So this works fine $('#mycarousel').jcarousel(); everything works fine as expected... but here is the scenario. the div inside which I have ul/li items could be hidden by the click of another button. When the div is hidden, and I resize the browser window...the jcaraousel also attempts to redraw itself... but since it is hidden, it is not able to draw it properly. and everyting is jumbled up in the list (if I click the button again to make it visible)... but again if I resize the window now (the jumbled up jcarousel is NOT hidden now)... it redraws itself correctly... I was wondering to get hold of the jcarousel instance and reload itself as soon as the button is clicked to make the div visible (the way it resizes itself when it is visible and window is resized) to get hold of the jcarousel.. I am using JQuery('#mycarousel').data('jcarousel') and it is returned as null. Anybody has any idea on this one?

Java process is not terminating after starting an external process

Then I sent an readerThread.interrupt() to the reader thread and the thread terminated, too. But there was still a thread running that wasn't terminating. This thread kept my java application running even if it exited its main method. With the debugger (eclipse) I wasn't able to suspend this thread. After I quit the opened command window, my java program exited, too. Question How can I quit my java program while the command window stays open?

Modifying JSF Component Tree in PhaseListener

Hi all, I'm having an issue. I've implemented a PhaseListener, which is meant to add a style class to any UIInput components in the tree that have messages attached to them, and removes the style class if it doesn't have any messages attached to them. The PhaseListener runs in the RENDER_RESPONSE phase, and does it's work in both the beforePhase and afterPhase methods while debugging. While debugging, I found that beforePhase doesn't have access to the full component tree, but afterPhase does. Any changes done in afterPhase aren't rendered though. How do I go about this? I want this to be completely server side. Thanks, James

IE is ignoring Z-Index on positioned elements

IE yet again is proving to be the bane of my existence. The top of a site I'm working on has a horizontal menu, an item of which triggers a pure-CSS menu that is positioned absolute within the parent menu DIV (positioned relative). This places the menu perfectly in both IE and the W3C compliant browsers. The problem arises when I have more positioned elements further down on the page. These are also positioned relative, because there is data inside them that needs to be positioned absolute... again, this displays properly in all browsers I've tested it on. The problem is, that then the top menu is opened, part is obscured by the positioned elements further down the page - in effect, it's positioned BELOW these elements even though there are z-index properties defined on all. (in both the CSS file and inline). The only way to get IE to display this properly is to place the actual HTML for the menu at the bottom of the page, below (in DOM terms) the positioned elements elsewhere on the page. I would only do this as an absolute last resort. All Elements are the same type (div). I have a c# program through which i am opening cmd window as a a process. in this command window i am running a batch file. i am redirecting the output of that batch file commands to a Text File. When i run my application everything seems to be ok. But few times, Application is giving some error like "Can't access the file. it's being used by another application" at the same time cmd window is not getting closed. If we close the cmd process through the Task Manager, then it's writing the content to the file and getting closed. Even though i closed the cmd process, still file handle is not getting released. so that i am not able to run the application next time onwards.Always it's saying Can't access the file. Only after restarting the system, it's working. Here is my code: Process objProcess = new Process(); ProcessStartInfo objProInfo = new ProcessStartInfo(); objProInfo.WindowStyle = ProcessWindowStyle.Maximized; objProInfo.UseShellExecute = true; objProInfo.FileName = "Batch file path" objProInfo.Arguments = "Some Arguments"; if (Directory.Exists(strOutputPath) == false) { Directory.CreateDirectory(strOutputPath); } objProInfo.CreateNoWindow = false; objProcess.StartInfo = objProInfo; objProcess.Start(); objProcess.WaitForExit(); test.bat: java classname argument > output.txt Here is my question: I am not able to trace where the problem is.. How we can see the process which holding handle on ant file. Is there any suggestions for Java and .net interoperability
