  • OpenVPN connected but not internet access on the client

  • Need help making site available externally

    I'm trying to open a hole in the firewall (ASA 5505, v8.2) to allow external access to a Web application. Via ASDM (6.3?), I've added the server as a Public Server, which creates a static NAT entry [I'm using the public IP that is assigned to 'dynamic NAT--outgoing' for the LAN, after confirming on the Cisco forums that it wouldn't bring everyone's access crashing down] and an incoming rule "any... public_ip... https... allow" but traffic is still not getting through. When I look at the log viewer, it says it's denied by access-group outside_access_in, implicit rule, which is "any any ip deny" I haven't had much experience with Cisco management. I can't see what I'm missing to allow this connection through, and I'm wondering if there's anything else special I have to add. I tried adding a rule (several variations) within that access-group to allow https to the server, but it never made a difference. Maybe I haven't found the right combination? :P I also made sure the Windows firewall is open on port 443, although I'm pretty sure the current problem is Cisco, because of the logs. :) Any ideas? If you need more information, please let me know. Thanks Edit: First of all, I had this backward. (Sorry) Traffic is being blocked by access-group "inside_access_out" which is what confused me in the first place. I guess I confused myself again in the midst of typing the question.   • Macs don't connect to wifi access point but PCs will

    So, as a side project I'm going to try and figure out why the wifi APs in my building exhibit the following behavior: - They typically allow all types of computers to connect without issues - Sometimes Apples can't get an IP address but will still connect to the AP's signal - Less often, PCs can't connect to the wifi (same as above - yes signal, no IP addy) - Don't let Raiders fans on no matter the time of day! My first thought was that the DHCP leases were all taken up when the Apples would try to connect, and it was just their unlucky timing, but I would then try to log on with a PC that had a new, unleased MAC address and it would work... Could this be something to do with interoperability between an apple wifi card, and the APs? Different parts of the DHCP lease being taken up first? The fact that the Seattle Mariners might actually be good this year?? If this hasn't used up everyone's patience (with my crappy sports jokes), something else I could use some help with: - We don't have the model or type of AP - This is because there is no documentation available for them, and they literally look like small white boxes with no writing on them. Also, the company that installed them is out of business, so the situation might be that no docs will ever be on the way. -- Do you guys have any ideas on how to figure out what we have?     My wife's computer had a virus alarm go off, so I am looking into it. The virus is supposed to be on the D: drive. I wanted to talk a quick look at the file, but I cannot not. It has one file that I can get to. It is D:\Recovery. That shows a "Protected by PC Angel" graphic. How can I get past this? Should I do it? Is the virus scanner wrong? (I am using Avast).

  • Do you know a good html mailing list management software with admin levels?

    I'm basically looking for a program/app/script (can be commercial) which I can ideally install on a windows server (we can run asp, asp.net php mssql) we have different groups of people who send newsletters to web members, I want to bring it all into one app which I can monitor and control. Ideally it would be able to create html newsletters, (with some templates) track emails and click throughs. Manage email lists subscribe/unsubscribes. And importantly have different levels of admin, so a newsletter creator could log in and create and send off an email, it goes into a queue where a communications editor can have an overview of all newsletters and approve the sending of the emails or edit them before they are sent off. before I start coding something up myself I thought I'd ask if anyone has any advice! However not for firefox. I'm running Haproxy locally on my mac for dev, not sure if it has anything to do with it. I'm using haproxy 1.4.8 and Firefox 3.6.15. I've tried clearing cache on firefox and it didn't help, so I'm thinking there's something wrong with the way HAProxy parses through the Firefox request headers.

    SPMetal is used to make use of LINQ on a list in SharePoint 2010. By default when you generate SPMetal on a site you will get a code generated file for most of the lists and probably more. Here is a MSDN link for some info on SPMetal.http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee538255(office.14).aspxBut what if you want only to generate the code for one list?Well it is quite simple once you figure it out. You need to add an xml file to override the default settings of SPMetal and specify it in the /parameters option. I will show you how to do this.First create a Folder that will contain two files (GenerateSPMetalCode.bat and SPMetal.xml).Below is the content of the files:GenerateSPMetalCode.bat "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\14\BIN\SPMetal" /web:http://YourServer /code:OutPutFileName.cs /language:csharp /parameters:SPMetal.xml pause SPMetal.xml <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <Web AccessModifier="Internal" xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/SharePoint/2009/spmetal"> <List Name="ListName"> <ContentType Name="ContentTypeName" Class="GeneratedClassName" /> </List> <ExcludeOtherLists></ExcludeOtherLists> </Web> You will have to change some of the text in the files so that it will be specific to your SharePoint Server Setup. ExcludeOtherLists element makes it so that only the code for the lists you specify will be generated. For some reason I got an error if I had this element above the List element.You sould now have a code file called OutPutFileName.cs that has been generated. You can now put this in your SharePoint project for use with your LINQ queries against that list.I will soon write a LINQ example that uses the generated class. UPDATE: Add the /namespace parameter to add a namespace to the generated code.   • Games consoles won't connect through the TP-Link TL-WA500G Access Point

    I hope that someone can help me. I have several Laptops and other devices, all using my Wireless Router (Sky Digital Netgear) To extend the range to the back of the house, I purchased a TP-Link TL-WA500G Range extender. configured just as a pure repeater, it picks up the signal from the Netgear Router. The Netgear Router does the DHCP, handing out the IP addresses. This all works a treat with several different laptops and my iPone4S, but when my son tries to use his XBox360, Sony Playstation3 or the Nintendo Wii those devices fail to acquire an IP address. They just sit their waiting for the IP config. This also happens with my wife's HTC desire ONE Android phone. My son says that, when his HTC Desire C won't get an IP address, he just unplugs the AP briefly - the phone will connect and he puts the AP back on. Once he is connected to the Router, the AP won't disturb function. The Games Consoles don't seem to work like that. They stop working, when the AP is reconnected. I had my son try to configure permanent IP addresses, and he said that did not work either, though I have to confirm that, as I did not see that for myself. Has anybody seen this before? I have searched the Net and have not found any similar problems anywhere. I wonder if there is setting somewhere that would fix this. Many thanks for anyone reading this and trying to help. M

  • "Error 5: Access denied" when installing programs with UAC turned off

    I'm having some trouble installing msysgit 1.7.3.1preview on Windows 7 Home Premium. I downloaded the setup file from the Google Code and then ran it. Upon running, I got the following error: I have tried downloading and running different older versions of msysgit with no luck. For the record, I have administrative privileges and there are no other user accounts on this Windows machine. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. UPDATE: I have managed to semi-fix this problem. I turned on User Account Control back to the default setting and and then ran the setup file as an administrator. I successfully managed to install Git. However, this means I have to keep UAC turned on whenever I want to install a new program (I realised that it persists over all programs; not just Git). So it's quite a nuisance. If anybody knows how I could keep UAC disabled whilst still being able to install programs without running their setup files as an administrator, I would be eternally grateful. UPDATE: I have changed the question title to better suit the new situation.

    i'm stuck in connecting to a PostresSQL database from remote host. The server is accepting incoming connections on port 5432 and i've configured pg_hba.conf like this: local all all md5 host all all 0.0.0.0/0 md5 and the postgresql.conf like this: listen_addresses = '*' port = 5432 max_connections = 100 I don't have any problem accessing from local but when i try to connect via psql with something like this: psql -U myuser -h hostname db_name I get this error: psql: FATAL: no pg_hba.conf entry for host "87.zz.yy.xxx", user "myuser", database "db_name", SSL off I also tried to put the host 87.zz.yy.xxx in the pg_hba.conf file without success.

Both of them, however, are on the same network of my University, but on different LANs/VLANs (i hope i used the right word here). How can I remotely connect to my work system from my PC, given that both use private IP addresses? If such a thing is not possible with current set up, what minimal changes are required for it?

Also, I was getting an error: cannot convert IEnumerable to bool. I've read several questions about performing a linq query on a list of arrays, but I can't quite get what is going wrong with this. Any help? Edit Apologies for not being clear in my intentions with the implementation. I intend to select the DrawObject that currently contains the mouse location.

    So I am trying to learn Linked Lists using Perl. I am reading "Mastering Algorithms with Perl" by Job Orwant. In the book he explains how to create a linked list I understand most of it, but I just simply fail to understand the command/index/key NEXT in the second last line of the code snippet. $list=undef; $tail=\$list; foreach (1..5){ my $node = [undef, $_ * $_]; $$tail = $node; $tail = \${$node->[NEXT]}; # The NEXT on this line? } What is he trying to do there? Isn $node a scalar, which stores the address of the unnamed array. Also even if we are de-referencing $node, should we not refer to the individual elements by an index number example (0,1). If we do use "NEXT" as a key, is $node a reference to a hash? I am very confused. Something in plain English will be highly appreciated.

    I have a list of array that contains multiple arrays. each array has 2 index .. First, I want to loop the list. Then i want to loop the array inside the list .. How can i do that ?
