• ColdFusion code parser?

  I'm trying to create an app to search my company's ColdFusion codebase. I'd like to be able to do intelligent searches, for example: find where a function is defined (and not hit everywhere the function is called). In order to do this, I'd need to parse the ColdFusion code to identify things like function declarations, function calls, database queries, etc. I've looked into using lex and yacc, but I've never used them before and the learning curve seems very steep. I'm hoping there is something already out there that I could use. My other option is a mess of difficult-to-maintain regex-spaghetti code, which I want to avoid.

• Coldfusion Report Builder - How can you set different datasources externally between prod/staging/de

  Coldfusion Report Builder is great. One small issue. We use ANT+CFANT to deploy. When we create the report, say in a datasource called MyApp_dev on a dev box. Everything works great when the report is created. We deploy the report to our staging server, which has a datasource of MyApp_Staging. That server also, may or may not, have the live app working under MyApp_Live. Ant pushes the update to Staging just great. Run the report, crashes and burns. Why? It seems the report is looking for the MyApp_Dev data_source, even though the application is using the MyApp_Staging datasource. In digging around I found a few approaches, I would like to do this one, final, ideal way from the beginning instead of having to go back to do dozens of reports differently when I have a new Aha! moment. 1) Obvious: Pass in the datasource in to the cfreport tag. Doesn't work for ColdFusion Builder Reports as of v8, or v9 as tested on Linux. 2) Most realistic option (but painful) so far: Pass in the query as an object into the ColdFusion Builder report. Let's think about this: Create the Report with the report builder to my heart's content using the RDS, etc on my local box. When I'm done, copy the query into a snippet of code, or into a database column to be dynamically be injected at runtime with correct datasource. Modify my "run report" event to find the query from the database column, insert it into another dynamic cfquery and potentially... evaluate (!?!) it? Fun side is I can set the cfquery datasource to what I would need for each environment. When I modify the report's columns in CF Report Builder, I always have to update the query in the database. Is there a snippet of code that can extract this for me? Hmm. 3) Less than ideal. Suck it up and let all the reports in staging run off the live server. Maybe copy the live data into staging (sans structural changes) to let it seem similar. Are there any eloquent ways to accomplish the above? Thanks in Advance!

• Creating BlackBerry method stubs using wscompile on WSDL from ColdFusion

  I have been working on a BlackBerry application that consumes web services from ColdFusion 7. The Java ME SDK and the Java Wireless Toolkit both require that the generated WSDL be of the document/literal type. Fortunately, I have input on the web service development so I tried setting 'style="document"' in the cfcomponent tag. This generated a document/literal style WSDL but now wscompile generates the following errors in several places: Found unknown simple type: javax.xml.soap.SOAPElement Found unknown simple type: java.util.Calendar Any ideas why this is happening? The WSDL does get parsed correctly by the JWSDP tool but the stubs use namespaces that are not available in the J2ME platform. I would have thought ColdFusion WSDL would work more easily with other products in the Java family.

• Coldfusion returning typed objects / AMF remoting

  Is the same possible in ColdFusion? Currently I am using .Net/Fluorine to return objects to the client. Whilst in testing I like to pass strings representing the select statement and the custom object I wish to have returned from my service. Fluorine has a class ASObject to which you can set the var 'typeName'; which works great. I am hoping that this is possible in Coldfusion. Does anyone know whether you can set the type of the returned object in a similar way. • Accessing mapped network drive from ColdFusion

  I am having a problem accessing a mapped drive in ColdFusion. I have \\server\files\sharing mapped to z:\. If I run this code, it says the directory exists for the full path but not for the mapped one: <cfscript> fullPath = "\\server\files\sharing\reports"; mappedPath = "z:\reports"; WriteOutput("fullPath exists: #DirectoryExists(fullPath)#<br/>"); //YES WriteOutput("mappedPath exists: #DirectoryExists(mappedPath)#"); //NO </cfscript> I have done some Googling and have found a few people with the same problem, but the solution was always to use the full path. Is there a reason ColdFusion wouldn't be able to see or access the mapped drive? And if so, are there any workarounds (maybe a system call to get the full path of the mapped drive)?

  I have no idea how to handle this in coldfusion 9, I have a form being submitted (POST) with element checkboxes, called items[]. When I do a <cfdump var="#form#" /> no-problem, I get all the items shown with the proper names like items[] eg: struct ITEMS[] 13,14 FIELDNAMES ITEMS[] however doing a <cfdump var="#form.items[]#" /> results in an error. How do I access the CF9 field values? Somehow loop through it? I cannot seem to do anything with the array to get the id's out of it? Thoughts, I'm kindof stumped and coldfusion isn't the easiest language to find examples / references on the net ;) Is there a correct way to deal with this? I need to get the ID's out of there so I can referenc what lines were checked in the form, so I can follow up with an action. Thanks!

  Is there a tool to see the message sent to webservice hosted on an IIS server? I have a webservice written in .Net and our ColdFusion people are having trouble building a "complex" parameter. This problem is described from a ColdFusion perspective at: adobe forum question It runs when called from a .net client. While hosted on a server inside our LAN, I put it out on a public server so the WSDL could be viewed: please take a quick look at this WSDL here When the CF developer runs her code, she gets: java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: argument type mismatch ...and I am wondering if there is a tool I could run on the server that hosts my webservice to see if it is even entering the WS or is being rejected by Java code that CF uses and is not really even getting to my webservice.

• ColdFusion Timeout Error

  I have a scheduled task that runs once a day that builds an XML file that I pass off to another group. Recently the amount of data has greatly increased and is now causing the task to time out (I think). I have tried to optimize my script as much as possible but with no luck. It times out long before an hour and I don't get any kind of ColdFusion error. Instead I get a "This page cannot be found" after it runs. Could this be a timeout someplace other than Coldfusion?   Trying to run ghettoVCB for the first time here. I am using a NAS that is set up as a datastore on the host. I did a dry run and it completed without error. The VM is ~500GB and there is only one on the host that I'm trying to backup. On the NAS it's showing ~430GB but on vSphere Client Summary is shows as 507GB. I don't see the vmdk on the NAS growing any more. The logfile mimics some of the above and is sitting at "Creating Snapshot..." and nothing else is coming in. Is the vmdk on the NAS showing all those GB because of the provisioning or something? i.e. is the size of the file not necessarily indicative of the amount of actual data that has been copied? Is there are reason it might be "Stuck" at 10%? i.e. could it really be taking this long? Any other tips? Thanks. Edit: as soon as I hit the Submit button, I glance over to see that it has incremented to 11% done. Good to know it'll be complete sometime around when the sun explodes.

• upgraded to OSX 10.6.6 - now cannot sudo

  I've been using sudo until now. After an upgrade to 10.6.6, now sudo gives me incorrect password. My user has admin rights, and i can execute admin functions from the GUI (such as System Prefs, updating software etc). However, within Terminal, sudo has stopped accepting the password. I have repaired permissions and restarted. Some pointers ask me to use Directory Utility, but in this version it does not have a "set root user" option. I downloaded ServerAdminTool 10.5.7 but this does not work on my system. Some say to add myself to "wheel" group, but i need sudo for that. Some say if i am in admin group, i should be able to sudo, but this is not happening. (Using OS X Snow Leopard 10.6.6, earlier 10.5.8) MODERATOR: please delete this question. The issue had to do with Textpander expanding the password resulting in sudo failing. Not an OS upgrade issue.

• Coldfusion 9 losing connection to MySQL 5 database server a couple of weeks after the server is started

  We get the following Coldfusion error message after our server have been running for a couple of weeks: Error Executing Database Query.Could not create connection to database server. Attempted reconnect 3 times We run Coldfusion Enterprise 9 on a one year old XServer with Snow Leopard and MySQL 5 The server has about ten DSN set up in the Coldfusion Administrator All local, with default advanced settings, and host set to "localhost" The server is not under heavy load. The strange thing is that after a restart of the server, everything works fine. Then after a week or so, some databases will stop working, in the sense that Coldfusion cannot create a connection to them. If I then go to the Coldfusion Administrator and click "Verify all datasources", I will get that only 2 or 3 got verified, the other ones failed, and it is always the same datasources that can't be verified when the server starts to behave like this if I try to verify again, BUT NOT neccessary the same datasources that couldn't be verified the last time the server behaved like this. I know about the setting "max_connections" and we have included a line for that setting in the MySQL config file and set it to 2000, and when we read it by a query it says "2000", so that can't be the problem. Anyone?

  Hi. I was able to get Mac OS X 10.6.2 to work on my 64-bit Acer on VirtualBox multiple times, but I would like to update to 10.6.6. Every time I do, however, I continue to get this annoying error, saying that the kernal and OS version mismatch, and the OS Version is no longer set. • Mounting any Windows share from OS X 10.7.5 suddenly stopped working

  I have problem with mounting Windows network shares from my OS X 10.7.5 - it worked but it stopped and nothing helps and nothing in logs. Here what I get when trying to mount it manually: mount -t smbfs //10.0.0.7/d /tmp/test When doing sniffing with tshark - no packet it sent through and I get immediately return from the command: mount_smbfs: server connection failed: Unknown error: -1 Nothing in /var/log/syslog.log and /var/log/kern.log. The Finder does not work either - it throws an error that something is wrong (in czech thus I'm not sending the message here). I just cannot connect to any network shares. In virtual Windows 7 in Parallels Desktop I can connect successfully, but not within the network share (so the Win7 is behind OS X NAT) but only with its own IP address. The Windows server share is on the same network segment connected through switch. Any advice how to debug and what can be wrong? I spent hours to find solution on Google and here but no-one with this kind of problem and I do not know how to further debug it since there is no meaningful log / trace etc. I can ping 10.0.0.7 and I can connect to FTP server on 10.0.0.7 - the Windows machine (XP) has firewall completely turned off. The problem is that with tshark, I'm not seeing any packet sending to 10.0.0.7 so it's not even trying to reach the server.

• 2 Nics - Same Subnet..Route backup traffic through one of them

  I have a windows server and a centos linux server. I want the nightly backup file (targz) that copies to the windows machine to use a different nic so that the main nic is not burdenend with moving the large file. Each server has 2 Nics in it. the network is 10.173.10.0 mask 255.255.255.192 Centos Linux Box: Eth0 is configured with 10.173.10.80 mask 255.255.255.192 gw 10.173.10.65 Eth 1 is configured with 10.173.10.71 mask 255.255.255.192 gw 10.173.10.65 Windows Box Eth 0 is 10.173.10.72 mask 255.255.255.192 gw 10.173.10.65 Eth 1 is 10.173.10.70 mask 255.255.255.192 gw 10.173.10.65 I can ping each machine from each machine. On the linux machine I use the command route add -host 10.173.10.70 dev eth1 but then when i ping 10.173.10.70 it is unreachable..... WHY?

  Not really. But wi-fi access is limited to common areas in the COLLABORATE 10 conference center here in Las Vegas. So my grand roving iPad blog update plan has been delayed a day while I measured signal strength and searched for a place to sit. Tuesday morning, I accomplished both. Yesterday I shot a nice, quick video of Bahseer Khan about embedded decision support--a part of his Oracle Fusion Applications presentation that I think could do with some additional discussion as we ramp up for Oracle's next-generation applications. I'll post that video here by the end of the day. Later today I'll also be interviewing OAUG president David Ferguson about the prevailing trends at COLLABORATE 10, the addition of Sun (and Sun's user groups) to the Oracle portfolio, and what the next 12 month holds in store for the Oracle user community. Or, is it possible to directly read the content of file without saving it in my local box through coldfusion using cfftp or cfhttp? cfhttp.mimeType is application/vnd.ms-excel in this case. Thanks!!

• Problem using unicode in URLs with cgi.PATH_INFO in ColdFusion

  Hi there, My ColdFusion (MX7) site has search functionality which appends the search term to the URL e.g. http://www.example.com/search.cfm/searchterm. The problem I'm running into is this is a multilingual site, so the search term may be in another language e.g. ??????? leading to a search URL such as http://www.example.com/search.cfm/??????? The problem is when I come to retrieve the search term from the URL. I'm using cgi.PATH_INFO to retrieve the path of the search page and the search term and extracting the search term from this e.g. /search.cfm/searchterm however, when unicode characters are used in the search they are converted to question marks e.g. /search.cfm/??????. These appear actual question marks, rather than the browser not being able to format unicode characters, or them being mangled on output. I can't find any information about whether ColdFusion supports unicode in the URL, or how I can go about resolving this and getting hold of the complete URL in some way - does anyone have any ideas?
