  • How to quickly analyse large MDB file

    I need to know how to quickly analyse a large MDB file (about 1GB) to see which tables are causing it to be so big. Is there something will easily allow me to show a breakdown of which tables are responsible for how much data. I need to know whether it is just this one customer who is using the application differently, or whether there is genuinely a lot of data in the MDB. This MDB is currently causing the VB app to crash, and I need to know why it is so big so that I can maybe think about how to put some of the data into another 'archival' MDB. Migrating to SQL Server is not an option, unless the use of linked tables from an MDB is a realistic option.

  • Flash uploader that can handle >2GB files?

    Is there an open source Flash uploader that can handle files larger than 2 GB? ASP.net implementations like SlickUpload are not an option, and SWFUpload (and others that I've seen) do not handle files larger than 2 GB. Nor is requiring the user to have Java installed to run applets. This would be for both IE and Firefox. I've seen a couple "large file transfer" sites that have a Flash uploader and claim to go past the 2GB limit (which is the limit for http uploads for most browsers) so I know it is technically possible.

    I'm a .NET web developer primarily who occasionally writes console applications to mine data, cleanup tasks, etc. Most of what I do winds up involving a database which I currently design via sql server management studio, using stored procedures, and query analyzer. I also create a lot of web services which are consumed via AJAX applications. Do these technologies really help you in speeding up development times? Do you still have to build the database or object code first?

  • input file cannot be found

    I am just messing around with reading input files with java until I got stumped at the most basic of steps... finding the input file! The input.txt file is in the same directory as my class file that is calling it yet eclipse still gives me an error that it cant be found: "Exception in thread "main" java.lang.Error: Unresolved compilation problem: Unhandled exception type FileNotFoundException" My code: package pa; import java.util.Scanner; public class Project { public static void main(String[] args) { java.io.File file = new java.io.File("input.txt"); System.out.println(file.getAbsolutePath()); Scanner input = new Scanner(file); } } input.txt is in the same package, same folder and everything. I'm confused :(

  • Need to work out database structure

    Hi, Just need a little kickstart with this. I have Mysql/PHP, and I have 5,000 products. I have 30 companies I need to store some data for those 30 companies for each product as follows: a) prices b) stock qty I also need to store data historically on a daily basis. So the table... It makes sense that the records will be the products because there's 5000, and if I put the companies as the columns, I can store the prices, but what about the stock quantities? I could create two columns for each compoany, one for prices, one for qty. Then make the tablename the date for that day...so theer would be a new table for every day with 5000 products in it? is this the correct way? Some idea on how I'll be retreiving data the top 5 lowest prices (and the company) by product for a certain date the price and stock changes in the past 7 days by product

  • Condensing repeating JQuery code

    I have a page that has a large image on it with a number of thumbnails. When you mouse over a thumbnail the main image changes to the image you have just rolled your mouse over. The problem is the more thumbnails I have, the more repeated code I have. How could I reduce it?   • PHP: Next Available Value in an Array, starting with a non-indexed value

    I've been stumped on this PHP issue for about a day now. Basically, we have an array of hours formatted in 24-hour format, and an arbitrary value ($hour) (also a 24-hour). The problem is, we need to take $hour, and get the next available value in the array, starting with the value that immediately proceeds $hour. The array might look something like: $goodHours = array('8,9,10,11,12,19,20,21). Then the hour value might be: $hour = 14; So, we need some way to know that 19 is the next best time. Additionally, we might also need to get the second, third, or fourth (etc) available value. The issue seems to be that because 14 isn't a value in the array, there is not index to reference that would let us increment to the next value. To make things simpler, I've taken $goodHours and repeated the values several times just so I don't have to deal with going back to the start (maybe not the best way to do it, but a quick fix). I have a feeling this is something simple I'm missing, but I would be so appreciative if anyone could shed some light. Erik

  • Rails Binary Stream support

    I'm going to be starting a project soon that requires support for large-ish binary files. I'd like to use Ruby on Rails for the webapp, but I'm concerned with the BLOB support. In my experience with other languages, frameworks, and databases, BLOBs are often overlooked and thus have poor, difficult, and/or buggy functionality. Does RoR spport BLOBs adequately? Are there any gotchas that creep up once you're already committed to Rails? BTW: I want to be using PostgreSQL and/or MySQL as the backend database. Obviously, BLOB support in the underlying database is important. For the moment, I want to avoid focusing on the DB's BLOB capabilities; I'm more interested in how Rails itself reacts. Ideally, Rails should be hiding the details of the database from me, and so I should be able to switch from one to the other. If this is not the case (ie: there's some problem with using Rails with a particular DB) then please do mention it. UPDATE: Also, I'm not just talking about ActiveRecord here. I'll need to handle binary files on the HTTP side (file upload effectively). That means getting access to the appropriate HTTP headers and streams via Rails.   • C#: proprietary DLLs requiring access to my assemblies

    My solution uses a proprietary assembly, which when debugging the solution throws an Exception saying it can't find an assembly that is meant to be one of the projects in my solution. I cannot add a reference to the proprietary assembly because all I have is the DLL. When I compile everything into a single application directory and run the app it works fine, but I want to debug. Where should assemblies be placed if you want a proprietary assembly in the solution to see them? I assume the issue is that there is no path specified and it is just looking in a default directory of some kind.

  • Keyboard blocking my view

    I have a UIView with another UIView inside it. On the inside UIView there is a textbox which I want to fill in. When I try to fill it in the keyboard blocks my view: The UIViewController has the following containerView = [[UIView alloc] initWithFrame:[UIScreen mainScreen].bounds]; self.view=containerView; //The apropriate releases etc are further on... When I touch it, the keyboard comes up as expected, but blocks the textbox I'm trying to fill in. How can I force the view to slide up?     I am running the following SQL against an MDB file, a copy of which is located here: http://hotfile.com/dl/40641614/2353dfc/test.mdb.html (perfectly clean file, no macros or viruses) SELECT datediff("d", MAX(invoice.date), Now) As Date_Diff , MAX(invoice.date) AS max_invoice_date , customer.number AS customer_number FROM invoice INNER JOIN customer ON invoice.customer_number = customer.number GROUP BY customer.number If the the following was added: HAVING datediff("d", MAX(invoice.date), Now) > 365 would this simply exclude rows with Date_Diff <= 365? What should be the effect of the HAVING clause here?

  • Why is the servlet request not available in the portlet API

    The portlet API deos not provide any reference to the enclosing servlet request and response objects. I know it is not the preferred model of interaction with the user, but it seems draconian to remove all access. I understand that for portlet driven interaction with the user, you want to use portlet URLs, and let the portlet container manage all the complexity. However if you have a number of portlets which are basically showing variants of the same data, it makes sense for them to be able to use the enclosing request to drive the data. We ended up using using a Liferay specific call to get the request, and it all seems to work as we wish. However I do feel the guilt. So my question really is, is there an underlying deep reason for the prohibition, or is it just to enforce the authors view of the API environment?

    I'm having real difficulty with a query involving 3 tables. I need to get the 3 newest users per department grouped by department names. The groups should be sorted by the users.dateadded so the department with the newest activity is first. The users can exist in multiple departments so Im using a lookup table that just contains the userID and deptID. My tables are as follows. I don't know but i always seem to get confused i.e. lack of documentation etc..... but is this the same as Prism?? If not can anyone tell me where the differences are...
