• Internet connection issues after installing Windows Phone 8 SDK

  first of all I must admit, that I'm not good in all this network stuff. I am using Windows 8 OS. On my laptop (Lenovo G570) I have installed Windows Phone 8 SDK and shortly after this I started having weird issues with internet connection. When I start my laptop, internet usually works fine, but after a few minutes it starts slowing down so much, that I'm not able to open a single page. Rebooting doesn't work, after several disabling and enabling network adapter, it usually works again for a few minutes and then again it stops. I'm sure it has something to do with Windows Phone 8 SDK, because problems started with this. With SDK there was also installed "vEthernet (Internal Ethernet Port Windows Phone Emulator Internal Switch)" network adapter. It is worth to note that problems occur mostly in my school network, not at home. Both at home and school I am using Wi-Fi connection. I hope the information given are enough to help me. • Keeping the wireless connected.

  I’m running OpenBSD on a computer which is connected via wireless to the network. It is a well supported NIC and I’ve had no problems with it from a hardware perspective. Unfortunately my wireless access point occasionally loves to forget it’s settings. I then have to help it remember. However, in this intervening time my OpenBSD box drops the connection and then does not automatically reconnect. I have alleviated my problems by running this simple script in the background: #!/bin/sh while [ 1 ] do ping -c1 192.168.1.254 > /dev/null if [ $? = 1 ] then sh /etc/netstart ral0 > /dev/null fi sleep 30 done [Ping the access point. If there is no response attempt to reconnect.] It seems to me to be a very suboptimal solution. Has anyone else come across a better way?

• How to setup IP alias on bridged interface in Ubuntu

  How do I setup an IP alias on a bridge (br0) device on Ubuntu ? If I wait for br0 to come up and then do /sbin/ifconfig br0:0 192.168.10.1 netmask 255.255.255.0 then it works fine. If however I add the following to my /etc/network/interfaces file, it does not work and the network fails to start: auto br0:0 iface br0:0 inet static address 192.168.10.1 netmask 255.255.255.0 At the moment, I have a script in /etc/network/if-up.d/bridge_alias that does this as follows: #!/bin/bash if [ "${LOGICAL}" == "br0" ] && [ "${PHASE}" = "post-up" ]; then echo -n "Starting br0:0 ... • How can I check for a string match AND an empty file in the same if/then bash script statement?

  I'm writing a simple bash script to do the following: 1) Check two files (foo1 and foo2). 2) If foo1 is different from foo2 and foo1 NOT blank, send an email. 3) If foo1 is the same as foo2... or foo1 is blank... do nothing. The blank condition is what's confusing me. Here's what I've got to start with: diff --brief <(sort ./foo1) <(sort ./foo2) >/dev/null comp_value=$? if [ $comp_value -ne 0 ] then mail -s "Alert" [email protected] <./alertfoo fi Obviously this doesn't check for blank contents. Any thoughts on how to do that?

  Hello everybody, greetings from Mexico, sorry about my english but here it goes: I recently bought and apple tv 2nd generation it works just fine, i can see you tube videos but i cant see my library. My pc is conected to the same wi-fi than my apple tv. I have the latest software. I have my firewall off. I turned off and on my router. Search for iphone, ipad remotes on, sharing my library on my local network on, in itunes. Ive checked that my id was the same. On top of that the Remote app doesnt seem to work either. Please help, im kinda loosing my mind over this

(I asked a guy there what to do after it said there was already a computer named "(omitted)" logged on.) I've never been at a wifi spot you had to log into before. I didn't even notice what the computer's name was before. My question is what are the most common default computer names. I'm curious. How often does this sort of problem happen? (For some reason my previous post was closed as off topic - so now I included the reason I'm asking. If it's still considered off topic (networking conflicts) I'll take it elsewhere, but the other forums I know of (ehow.com, answers.yahoo.com) are full of people that couldn't begin to answer a question like this.) • Problems with connecting to wireless network on windows 7

  I have a Dell laptop with Windows 7 (Home premium) 64 bit edition installed on it. I use a Wi-Fi router to browse the net. My problem is, I lose the network connection every 10 minutes or so. The network icon on the system tray shows the refresh icon and the status as "identifying network". The network is fine and works fine with my phone. I saw on the net this may be caused if I have enabled IPv6, so I disabled it but still problem persists. When I look at the event log I see the following entries: "Your computer was not assigned an address from the network (by the DHCP Server) for the Network Card with network address 0xXXXXXXXX. The following error occurred: 0x79. Your computer will continue to try and obtain an address on its own from the network address (DHCP) server." I have also installed VirtualBox(32 bit edition) on the laptop. Does anybody any solution to this?

• ASUS WL-500gP v2 network between two local machines

  I have two windows XP machines in my home networks, connected with ASUS WL-500gp V2 which also used as internet router. Problem is: while I have both computers normally goes to internet (used DHCP, static routes is ON, routing table is empty, operation mode is Home Gateway). I see both computers listed on the Network Neighborhood on 1st computer (wired to router), can enter to my own computer, but can not enter to other. I see only one computer (2nd) on the Network Neighborhood on 2nd computer (connected thru Wi-Fi), can enter to itself, getting error when trying to enter 1st computer address in address line (like \My1stComp). What is the problem? I totally crazy founding problem about 3 months.

• Kvpn on ubuntu 11.10 is stuck on 'Connecting'

  I recently installed open-vpn and it's gui, Kvpn, on my ubuntu system but after I load the configuration file and click 'Connect' it just runs through and gets stuck on 'Connecting', never actually getting connected. How do i get around this or what might i be doing wrong? The profile was set up using a .conf file and the network i'm trying to connect to needs only a username and password. I'm on a wi-fi connection, with one network card(also behind a university firewall, i suppose). Any help regarding connecting to a vpn on ubuntu would be much appreciated. Thanks!

• Asus x551c windows 7 Intel HD Graphics driver

  I did install Windows 7 64 bit on my ex. Windows 8 pro Asus x551c "Ultrabook". The CD with the drivers isn't useable since its a windows 8 only DVD-Rom. I got the Wi-Fi and other stuff running and already tryed 3 of the Intel-HD Graphic drivers for win7 64Bit i found with google. No one was compatible with my pc. Any suggestions how to get this running? I hate windows 8 and dont want to get forced to use it.

• Vista Startup - Cannot Find the File Specified

  Yesterday I restarted my laptop because my Wi-Fi catcher wasn't working correctly, and when the computer reached the login screen, instead of showing my user account it said "Cannot find the file specified". I rebooted and ran the Startup Repair and Memory Diagnostics but nothing showed up. I also took the battery out for a minute and tried again but still no luck. The weird thing is that I cannot even boot into safe mode, it still shows the same error. I don't remember downloading or opening anything suspicious recently, and I have 3 different cleaners/anti-malware programs as well that I usually run about once a week. I did go into the registry recently but I didn't modify or delete anything as I was only checking to see if I had a certain key in it. I have a Dell laptop running Vista Home Basic SP2. If I have to I can reinstall the OS with the CD or even take it to Best Buy but I'd rather try and fix it first. Thanks.

  I have D-link DSL 2750U wireless router. My PC and notebook are connected to router by Wi-Fi. They can share files or ping each other. I have a network storage unit plugged into router by an ethernet cable. Any of the computers cannot reach that storage unit or ping it. I guess my router isolates LAN network from WLAN network. Is there a way to combine them and get the router treat all devices connected to router in a single network? Thanks.

  I am having a strange issue that I can't seem to resolve. Here is what happend: I had some log files in a github repository that I didn't want there.   I'm trying to build simple file browser and i'm stuck. I defined classes, build window, add controllers, views.. Everything works but only ONE time. Selecting again Folder in NSTableView or trying to get data from Folder.files causing silent EXC_BAD_ACCESS (code=13, address0x0) from main. • Streaming Netflix Media with My Wii

  Late last year, I wrote about Streaming Media with my Sony Blu-ray Disc Player. I am still digging the Blu-ray player setup but guess what showed up in the mail yesterday?   That’s right!  A free Netflix disc which now let’s me instantly watch TV episodes and movies via my Wii console.  I popped the disc into the console and in less than 2 minutes the brain-numbingly simple activation was complete.  (Full-disclosure: I already had my Wi-Fi connection configured, but I’m confident that the Netflix installation disc would have helpfully walked me through this additional step if need be.) As it turns out, the Wii Netflix UI offers far more options than what one gets with the Blu-ray setup.  Not only can I view my Instant Queue, but there’s a list of recently watched movies, a list of recommended titles by category, the star rating system, movies information and nearly everything you find on the web.  I reread Steve Krug’s Don’t Make Me Think: A Common Sense Approach to Web Usability on a flight back from Orlando on Wednesday, so my current view of the world may be a little skewed but, the brilliance of Netflix Wii’s user interface is undeniable. It’s not like the Blu-ray navigation is complicated but the Wii navigation feels familiar and intuitive. How intuitive?  Well, you won’t find a single bit of help text on any of the Wii screens – just a simple and obvious point-and-click navigation system.  And the UI is really pretty (which is still very important if you ask me) and so easy it became fun. Did I mention the media streaming works!  Yep, we watched 2 half-hour kid videos yesterday without any streaming issues at all.  If you have a Netflix account and a Wii, order your disc and give it a go. It’s good stuff.
