  • Wordpress Template HTML CSS Layout Confusion

    - by Jess McKenzie
    I am having huge confusion with a template that I have purchased and I am trying to modify to handle a widget contact form. I am getting close with this but I have now muddled up the CSS or I have a feeling every page has a different CSS structure. The General Layout: What I Manage To Get: HTML View Source: <div id="innerright"> <div id="home" class="page"> <div id="homeslides"> <div class="welcomeslide"> <h1 class="large">Welcome</h1> </div> </div><!-- end home slides --> </div><!-- end page --> <div id="portfolio" class="page"> <div class="verticalline"> <div class="scrollprevnext"></div> </div> <div class="pageheader"> <h3><span>P</span>ortfolio</h3> </div><!--end pageheader --> <div id="portfolioscroller" class="scrollerenabledpage"> <div class="content"> <h5>Recent Work</h5> <ul class="thumb"> <li><a rel="precision_gallery" href="" title=""><img alt="" src="" /></a></li> </ul> </div> </div><!--end v scroll inner--> </div><!-- end page --> <div id="contact" class="page"> <div class="verticalline"> <div class="scrollprevnext"></div> </div> <div class="pageheader"> <h3><span>C</span>ontact</h3> </div><!--end pageheader --> <div id="contactscroller"> <h5>Get In Touch</h5> <div id="contactform">content</div> </div><!--end v scroll inner--> </div><!-- end page --> </div><!--end innerright--> CSS: CSS index.php: <!DOCTYPE HTML> <html> <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8"> <title><?php bloginfo('name'); ?></title> <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="<?php echo get_template_directory_uri(); ?>/style.css" /> <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="<?php echo get_template_directory_uri(); ?>/fancybox/jquery.fancybox-1.3.4.css" media="screen" /> <?php // jquery will be included by wp_head function as well as scripts and styles by third party plugins wp_head(); ?> <script type="text/javascript" src="<?php echo get_template_directory_uri(); ?>/js/plugins.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="<?php echo get_template_directory_uri(); ?>/js/script.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="<?php echo get_template_directory_uri(); ?>/fancybox/jquery.fancybox-1.3.4.pack.js"></script> <?php // background image if one has been set via options if (function_exists('get_option_tree')) { $background_image = get_option_tree('precision_background_image'); //$background_image = ''; $background_color = get_option_tree('precision_background_color'); if ($background_color != '') { echo '<style>body { background-color:'.$background_color.'; }</style>'; } } ?> <script type="text/javascript"> jQuery(document).ready(function($) { $('.page').each(function(index, element) { $(this).css('left', index * 500); }); <?php // if background is set via the OptionTree then load it first if ($background_image != '') { ?> $.vegas({ src:'<?php echo $background_image; ?>', fade:1000, complete:function() { $("#wrapper").fadeIn(1000); $("#bgpanel").fadeIn(1000); $('#mainslide').crossSlide( { speed: 15, fade: 1 }, [ <?php echo $slides; ?> ] ) $('#homeslides').bxSlider({ mode: 'fade', auto: true, controls:false, speed:1000, pause:5000 }); } }); <?php } else { // if no background has been set then fade-in the page ?> $("#wrapper").fadeIn(1000); $("#bgpanel").fadeIn(1000); $('#mainslide').crossSlide( { speed: 15, fade: 1 }, [ //ENTER YOUR MAIN SLIDESHOW IMAGES HERE\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ <?php echo $slides; ?> ] ) $('#homeslides').bxSlider({ mode: 'fade', auto: true, controls:false, speed:1000, pause:5000 }); <?php } ?> //BX SLIDER INNER PAGE SCROLLERS//////////////////////// $('.scrollerenabledpage').each(function(index, element) { $('#' + $(this).attr('id')).bxSlider({ mode: 'vertical', easing: 'easeInOutQuint', auto: false, controls: true, prevImage:'<?php echo get_template_directory_uri(); ?>/images/up.png', nextImage:'<?php echo get_template_directory_uri(); ?>/images/down.png', infiniteLoop: false, hideControlOnEnd: true, pager: true, pagerType:'short', pagerShortSeparator:'of', speed:800, }); }); //END BX SLIDER INNER PAGE SCROLLERS///////////////// $('#submit').click(function(e) { e.preventDefault(); $('form').submit(); }); // contact form $('form').submit(function(e) { $('#main').append('<img src="<?php echo get_template_directory_uri(); ?>/images/loader.gif" class="loaderIcon" alt="Loading..." />'); $.post("<?php bloginfo('wpurl'); ?>/wp-admin/admin-ajax.php", {action:'precision_contact_form_handler', uname:$('input#uname').val(), uemail:$('input#uemail').val(), ucomments:$('textarea#ucomments').val()}, function(data) { $('#main img.loaderIcon').fadeOut(1000); if (data.status == "success") { $('#response').html("Forum has been successfully submitted."); } else { if (data.response != '') { $('#response').html(data.response); } else { $('#response').html("An error occurred while submitting the form.   • jQuery selectors - parental problems

    - by aressidi
    Hi there, I have an emote selector that opens up when a user clicks an entry in a diary. The way I've worked it is that the emote selector panel lives hidden at the top of the page. When a user clicks on the 'emote control' associated with an entry, I use JavaScript to grab the HTML of the emote selector panel from the top of the page and insert it next to the entry. Using Firebug, here's what the finished product would look like in the page (snippet from element inspect). I'm trying to get the ID for the class 'emote-control-container' which contains the entry id: <td> <div id="1467002" class="emote-select emote-default">&nbsp;</div> <div class="emote-control-container" id="emote-controls-1467002"> <div id="emote-control-selector"> <div id="emote-control-selector-body"> <ul> <li id="emote-1"><img src="/images/default_emote.gif?1276134900" class="emote-image" alt="Default_emote"></li> <li id="emote-2"><img src="/images/default_emote.gif?1276134900" class="emote-image" alt="Default_emote"></li> <li id="emote-3"><img src="/images/default_emote.gif?1276134900" class="emote-image" alt="Default_emote"></li> <li id="emote-4"><img src="/images/default_emote.gif?1276134900" class="emote-image" alt="Default_emote"></li> </ul> </div> <div id="emote-control-selector-footer"> &nbsp; </div> </div> </div> </td> I need the entry ID along with the emote ID to make a post via AJAX when a user selects an emote from the selector panel by clicking on it. I'm able to get the emote ID just fine with this, which I'm using to alert-out the selected emote ID: jQuery('li').live('click', function(e) { e.preventDefault; var emoteId = this.id; alert(emoteId); }); I'm having trouble traversing up DOM to get the element ID from '.emote-control-container. I've tried everything, but I'd expect this to work, but it doesn't: jQuery('li').live('click', function(e) { e.preventDefault; var entryId = jQuery(this.id).parent(".emote-control-container").attr("id"); alert(entryId); }); What am I doing wrong.? I can't target the ID of the .emote-control-container.

  • Not able to delete list which dynamically created with jquery.

    - by shin
    I have two html here. The first one is dynamically generated by php and second one is just html to test. I also have the following jquery. • Optimizing jQuery for Tabs

    - by jpdbaugh
    I am in the process of developing a widget. The widget has three tabs that are implemented in the following way. <div id="widget"> <ul id="tabs"> <li><a href="http...">One</a></li> <li><a href="http...">Two</a></li> <li><a href="http...">Three</a></li> </ul> <div id="tab_container"> <div id="tab_content"> //Tab Content goes here... </div> </div> </div> // The active class is initialized when the document loads $("#tabs li a").click(function() { $("#tabs li.active").removeClass("active"); $("#tab_content").load($(this).attr('href')); $(this).parent().addClass("active"); return false; }); The problem I am having is that the jquery code that have written is very slow. If the user changes tabs quickly the widget gets behing and bogged down. This causes the tabs to to not align with the data being displayed and just general lag. I believe that this is because the tab is being changed before $.load() is finished. I have tried to implement the following: ("#tabs li a").click(function() { $("#tabs li.active").removeClass("active"); $("#tab_content").load($(this).attr('href'), function (){ $(this).parent().addClass("active"); }); return false; }); It is my understanding that the callback function within in the load function does not execute until the load function is completed. I think this would solve my problem, however I can not come up with a way to select the correct tab that was clicked within the callback function. If this is not the way to do this then what is the best way implement these tabs so that they would stop loading an old request and load the newest tab selection by the user? Thanks

  • Stuck with jQuery thumbnail gallery behavior

    - by Vitor
    Hi everyone, I'm trying to create a simple thumbnail viewer with jQuery. Here goes the code: $(function(){ $("ul.thumbnails li").click(function(e){ var imgAlt = $(this).find('img').attr("alt"); //Get Alt Tag of Image var imgTitle = $(this).find('a').attr("href"); //Get Main Image URL $("img.featured").attr({ src: imgTitle , alt: imgAlt}); //Switch the main image (URL + alt tag) }); <div class="image-gallery"> <img class="featured" src="big.jpg"> <ul class="thumbnails"> <li id="thumb01"> <a href="big.jpg"><img src="small.jpg"></a> </li> <li id="thumb02"> <a href="big.jpg"><img src="small.jpg"></a> </li> <li id="thumb03"> <a href="big.jpg"><img src="small.jpg"></a> </li> </ul> .thumbnails li { margin: 0; padding: 5px 5px 0 5px; list-style: none; float: left; overflow: hidden; } thumbnails li img { width: 50px; height: 50px; margin: 0; padding: 0; float: left; } If i click the thumbnail, the browser goes straight to the full image instead of just changing the img src with jQuery. But I if i click somewhere inside the <li> it works. I know this must be simple, but I don't know where I'm going wrong. I've tried studying other galleries, like http://www.sohtanaka.com/web-design/examples/image-rotator/ , but couldn't find what I'm missing. I could really use some help from you guys :)

  • Implementing rounded corners on slide down navigation menu

    - by Nick
    I am working on the slide down menu you can see here. I have rounded corners on both ul#navigation and ul.subnavigation. When the submenu slides down it is possible to see the border at the bottom of ul.subnavigation overlap with the content of ul#navigation, when I would like it to slide down smoothly, without the 'flicker'. I am aware that this issue is caused by the rounded corners. I need ul.subnavigation to cover the rounded corners at the bottom of ul#navigation when the menu drops down, without seeing the double border-bottom issue. I hope this is clear! Code is below. Thanks, Nick HTML <ul id="navigation"> <li class="dropdown"><a href="#">menu</a> <ul class="sub_navigation"> <li><a href="#">home</a></li> <li><a href="#">help</a></li> <li><a href="#">disable tips</a></li> </ul> </li> </ul> JQUERY $('.dropdown').hover(function() { $(this).find('.sub_navigation').slideToggle(); });? CSS ul#navigation, ul.sub_navigation { margin:0; padding:0; list-style-type:none; min-width:100px; background-color: white; font-size:15px; font-family: Trebuchet MS; text-align: center; -khtml-border-radius: 0 0 5px 5px; -moz-border-radius: 0 0 5px 5px; -webkit-border-radius: 0 0 5px 5px; border-radius: 0 0 5px 5px; border:1px black solid; border-top:none; } ul.sub_navigation { margin-left:-1px; position: absolute; top:28px; } ul#navigation { float:left; position:absolute; top:0; } ul#navigation li { float:left; min-width:100px; } ul.sub_navigation { position:absolute; display:none; } ul.sub_navigation li { clear:both; } a, a:active, a:visited { display:block; padding:7px; }

  • How to create 2 different scripts for 2 browsers (IE+all the rest)

    - by Barnabas Nagy
    I'm trying to solve an IE CSS issue by using conditional tags. My jQuery that does the job of tabbed box effect calls an id that is inside the conditional tags. I've given new ids to IE so on IE the jQuery is not working. I tried to duplicate the script with the new id in one of the script but the 2 scripts seems to get in conflict. My jQuery (in between the head tags) is (for all all browsers except IE): <script> var currentTab = 0; // Set to a different number to start on a different tab. function openTab(clickedTab) { var thisTab = $(".tabbed-box .tabs a").index(clickedTab); $(".tabbed-box .tabs li a").removeClass("active"); $(".tabbed-box .tabs li a:eq("+thisTab+")").addClass("active"); $(".tabbed-box .tabbed-content").hide(); $(".tabbed-box .tabbed-content:eq("+thisTab+")").show(); currentTab = thisTab; } $(document).ready(function() { $(".tabs li:eq(0) a").css("border-left", "none"); $(".tabbed-box .tabs li a").click(function() { openTab($(this)); return false; }); $(".tabbed-box .tabs li a:eq("+currentTab+")").click() }); </script> And I would need this for IE: <script> var currentTab = 0; // Set to a different number to start on a different tab. function openTab(clickedTab) { var thisTab = $(".tabbed-box .tabs a").index(clickedTab); $(".tabbed-box ie-.tabs li a").removeClass("active"); $(".tabbed-box ie-.tabs li a:eq("+thisTab+")").addClass("active"); $(".tabbed-box .tabbed-content").hide(); $(".tabbed-box .tabbed-content:eq("+thisTab+")").show(); currentTab = thisTab; } $(document).ready(function() { $(".ie-tabs li:eq(0) a").css("border-left", "none"); $(".tabbed-box .ie-tabs li a").click(function() { openTab($(this)); return false; }); $(".tabbed-box .ie-tabs li a:eq("+currentTab+")").click() }); </script> Having the 2 scripts in the head conflicts with each other. Maybe there is a way to combine them?

  • jQuery - addClass or removeClass - Is there an append class?

    - by iamtheratio
    I have css hover over images for my tabs and I'm trying to get the class to change from .how to .how_on when I click on the image HOW. My tabs are HOW | WHAT | WHEN | WHO | WHY I have classes for each (.how, .how_on), (.what, .what_on), etc... Can I make jQuery add _on to the original class name using click(function(){}); ? HTML: <div id="tab_container"> <ul class="tabs"> <li><a class="how_on" href="#how">How</a></li> <li><a class="why" href="#why">Why</a></li> <li><a class="what" href="#what">What</a></li> <li><a class="who" href="#who">Who</a></li> <li><a class="when" href="#when">When</a></li> </ul> <p><img src="images/tab_top.jpg" width="864px" height="6px" alt="" border="0" /></p> </div> <div class="tab_body"> <!-- HOW --> <div id="how" class="tab"> <strong>HOW IT WORKS:</strong> </div> JQUERY: <script type="text/javascript"> jQuery(document).ready(function(){ //if this is not the first tab, hide it jQuery(".tab:not(:first)").hide(); //to fix u know who jQuery(".tab:first").show(); //when we click one of the tabs jQuery(".tabs a").click(function(){ //get the ID of the element we need to show stringref = jQuery(this).attr("href").split('#')[1]; // adjust css on tabs to show active tab //hide the tabs that doesn't match the ID jQuery('.tab:not(#'+stringref+')').hide(); //fix if (jQuery.browser.msie && jQuery.browser.version.substr(0,3) == "6.0") { jQuery('.tab#' + stringref).show(); } else //display our tab fading it in jQuery('.tab#' + stringref).fadeIn(); //stay with me return false; }); }); </script>

  • Image Hover-HTML CSS

    - by LostSchemer
    I am having trouble creating a different image to appear when you place your curser over the original image. Heres my code without the rest of my listed buttons: <nav class="buttons"> <ul> <li class="left"> <a class="home" href="www.google.com"> <img src="img/Home_2.png"></a></li> </ul> </nav> Css: .buttons img{width: 190px; margin:0px; padding:0px; margin:0 auto; margin-top:55px;} .buttons ul{list-style-type: none; margin:0px; padding:0px} .left{float:left} .home:hover {background: url(../img/Home_crack.PNG)} Any suggestions? EDIT: Okay great suggestions, however when I hover over the "home button" now the stuff in the float tweeks out. Heres the code with the full float properties: HTML: <nav class="buttons"> <ul> <li class="left"> <a class="home" href="www.google.com"> <img src="img/Home_2.png"></a></li> <li class="left"> <a href="www.google.com" class="menu"> <img src="img/Menu_2.png"></a></li> <li class="right"> <a href="www.google.com" class="about"> <img src="img/About_2.png"></a></li> <li class="right"> <a href="www.google.com" class="contact"> <img src="img/Contact_2.png"></a></li> </ul> </nav> CSS: .buttons img{width: 190px; margin:0px; padding:0px; margin:0 auto; margin-top:55px;} .buttons ul{list-style-type: none; margin:0px; padding:0px} .left{float:left} .home:hover img{display:none} .home:hover {background: url(../img/Home_crack.PNG);} .right{float:right} Basically i wanted to separate 4 buttons.... one in the left float and one in the right float, then on the hover, the buttons would change to a different image....With the new img{display:none} the left float rapidly flashes.

  • Navigation bar(s) disappear when the window gets too small

    - by Leron
    The title maybe is a little misleading but I'm not 100% sure how this effect is called. I'm pretty sure what I meant is that my navigation bar is disappearing instead of collapsing. However my set up is this - I am working on the Layout view of ASP.NET MVC 4 project. I'm using bootstrap 3x but also have included jQuery libs so my <head> part is like this: @Scripts.Render("~/Scripts/bootstrap.min.js") @Styles.Render("~/Content/bootstrap.css") @Styles.Render("~/Content/themes/base/jquery.ui.smoothness.css") @Scripts.Render("~/Scripts/jquery-2.0.3.min.js") @Scripts.Render("~/Scripts/jquery-ui-1.10.3.min.js") //just skipped the standard stuff In the body I want to have two navbars and one side menu which will be the same for all my pages but I've noticed that when I start to narrow the window at some point instead of getting an effect similar to this example (noticed how the elements get repositioned) I just got both my navbars gone, I can't see them. The markup for my first navbar is this : <div class="navbar navbar-static-top navbar-inverse navbar-collapse collapse" role="navigation"> <ul class="nav navbar-nav "> <li><a href="#">Info</a></li> <li><a href="#">Info</a></li> </ul> </div> and the second one is : <div class="navbar navbar-collapse collapse" role="navigation" id="main-navigation-bar"> <ul class="nav nav-pills nav-justified"> <li style="border: 1px solid grey"><a href="#">Link</a></li> <li><a href="#">Link</a></li> <li><a href="#">Link</a></li> </ul> In fact the only thing left in my _Layout body is this: <div class="container-fluid"> @RenderBody() </div> which is just for compiling purposes and renders this view : <p>1</p> <p>2</p> <p>3</p> <p>4</p> <p>5</p> So when I make the window small enough so that my navbars disappear the only thing left is 1..5 numbers from the rendered view. I tested with only one navbar (commented the other) - no matter which one is commented, when I narrow the window I loose the navbar. How can I keep them using bootstrap 3x?

  • jquery skip list item

    - by steve
    Is there a way for a jQuery function to "skip" an li? Such as Having 3 list items, you click on the 1st one, it calls a next() function, and skips the 2nd li and goes to the 3rd. Current code is here: $('ul.gallery li').click(function() { $(window).scrollTo($(this).next('li'), 800, {easing:'easeOutCirc', axis:'x', offset:-50 } ); }); I want it to skip the immediate li and go to the one after that.

  • CSS Margin problem

    - by amitairos
    I'm starting out in HTML and CSS. I have a div element on the page, which doesn't fill the whole page. In it- there's a ul element and some list items in it. I want to put the list 227px from the top of the div element, but I can't manage to accomplish this- it pushes it more. Also- between the list items I want a margin of 40 pixels, but it also does more. What's the problem? Here's my code: Html: <body> <div class="Hashta"> <div class="Menu"> <ul id="MenuItems"> <li><a href="#" >ONE</a></li> <li><a href="#" >TWO</a></li> <li><a href="#" >THREE</a></li> <li><a href="#" >FOUR</a></li> </ul> </div> </div> </body> CSS: body { background-color: Gray; } .Hashta{ width:874px; height:650px; background-color:black; margin: auto auto 50px auto; border-radius: 20px; border: 3px solid darkgray; moz-box-shadow: 2px 2px 10px black; webkit-box-shadow: 2px 2px 10px black; box-shadow: 2px 2px 10px black; } .Menu { margin-top: 227px; padding-right: 50px; float:right; } #MenuItems { list-style:none; } #MenuItems li { text-align:center; position:relative; padding: 4px 10px 4px 10px; margin-right:30px; margin-bottom: 40px; border:none; } #MenuItems li a{ width: 280px; height: 70px; background-color: green; color:White; font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size:24px; display:block; outline:0; text-decoration:none; text-shadow: 1px 1px 1px #000; line-height: 70px; } If you want to measure the pixels- you can install this: http://www.mioplanet.com/products/pixelruler/ (click to rotate) Thanks!

    - by ChampionChris
    I have 2 list on a page that are linked. When I drag a li element from list 1 to list 2 the live events on list 1 don't work on the first click only second click. Below is the code that adds the li (obj) to list 2. function AddToDropBox(obj) { $(obj).children(".handle").animate({ width: "20px" }).children("strong").fadeOut(); $(obj).children("span:not(.track,.play,.handle,:has(.btn-edit))").fadeOut('fast'); $(obj).children(".play").css("margin-right", "8px"); $(obj).css({ "opacity": "0.0", "width": "284px" }).animate({ opacity: "1.0" }); if ($(".sidebar-drop-box ul").children(".admin-song").length > 0) { $(".dropTitle").fadeOut("fast"); $(".sidebar-drop-box ul.admin-song-list").css("min-height", "0"); } if (typeof SetLinks == 'function') { SetLinks(); } //CBG Changes adds media ID to hidden field //checks id there is a value in field then adds comma if(document.getElementById("ctl00_cphBody_hfRemoveMedia").value==""||document.getElementById("ctl00_cphBody_hfRemoveMedia").value==null) { document.getElementById("ctl00_cphBody_hfRemoveMedia").value=(obj).attr("mediaid"); } else { var localMediaIDs=document.getElementById("ctl00_cphBody_hfRemoveMedia").value; document.getElementById("ctl00_cphBody_hfRemoveMedia").value=localMediaIDs+", "+(obj).attr("mediaid"); } // alert("hfid: "+document.getElementById("ctl00_cphBody_hfRemoveMedia").value); //END CBG Modifications } this is one of the live() events that dont fire until the second click after the drag. • Implementing hoverIntent for Drop Down Menu (coming from click_event)

    - by stormeTrooper
    I've just recently started programming, I was hoping for some help. I have a drop down menu that was originally activated by click_event, however I want to now implement hoverIntent in order to make the menu drop. The issue I am having now is being able to use the menu, because whenever I invoke the menu now, once I leave the area that activates the menu, the menu closes. If you could explain to me like I'm five, I'd appreciate it, thanks :) The code I am using as follows: JavaScript: function setupUserConfigMenu() { $('.user_profile_btn').hoverIntent( function (event) { $('#user_settings_dropdown').animate({height:['toggle', 'swing'] }, 225); }, function (event) { $('#user_settings_dropdown').animate({height:['toggle', 'swing'] }, 225); }) } HTML: <li> <a href="<%= "#" %>" class="user_profile_btn" title="Your profile page"><%= truncate(current_user.full_name || current_user.name, :length => 28) %> <div class="arrow_down"></div></a> <ul id="user_settings_dropdown"> <li> <a href="<%= current_user.get_url(true) %>"> <%= image_tag current_user.get_thumb_url, :size => "30x30" %> <div> <%= truncate(current_user.full_name || current_user.name, :length => 40) %> <br> View profile </div> </a> </li> <div class="grey_line"></div> <li class="settings_list_item"> <%= link_to "Settings", edit_user_registration_path %> </li> <li class="settings_list_item"> <%= link_to "About", "/about" %> </li> <li class="settings_list_item"> <%= link_to "Logout", destroy_user_session_path, :method => :delete %> </li> </ul> </li>

  • CSS- removing horizontal space in list menu using display inline property

    - by Kayote
    Hi All, Im new to CSS and have a set target of learning & publishing my website in CSS by the end of the month. My question: Im trying to build a CSS horizontal menu with hover drop downs, however, when I use the 'display: inline' property with li (list) items, I get horizontal spaces between the li (list) items in the bar. How do I remove this space? Here is the html: <div id="tabas_menu"> <ul> <li id="tabBut0" class="tabBut">Overview</li> <li id="tabBut1" class="tabBut">Collar</li> <li id="tabBut2" class="tabBut">Sleeves</li> <li id="tabBut3" class="tabBut">Body</li> </ul> </div> And here is the CSS: #tabas_menu { position: absolute; background: rgb(123,345,567); top: 110px; left: 200px; } ul#tabas_menu { padding: 0; margin: 0; } .tabBut { display: inline; white-space: list-style: none; background: -webkit-gradient(linear, 0% 0%, 0% 100%, from(rgba(255,142,190,1)),to(rgba(188,22,93,1))); background: -moz-linear-gradient(top, rgba(255,142,190,1), rgba(188,22,93,1)); font-family: helvetica, calibri, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 20px; text-shadow: 1px 1px 1px rgba(99,99,99,0.5); -moz-border-radius: 0.3em; -moz-box-shadow: 0px 0px 2px rgba(0,0,0,0.5); -webkit-border-radius: 0.3em; -webkit-box-shadow: 0px 0px 2px rgba(0,0,0,0.5); padding: 6px 18px; border: 1px solid rgba(0,0,0,0.4); margin: 0; } I can get the space removed using the 'float: left/right' property but its bugging me as to why I cannot achieve the same effect by just using the display property.

  • Adding the text area input to a list with jquery

    - by amylynn83
    I am making a shopping list app. When an item is added to the text input, it should be converted into a list item with a class of "tile" and added to the beginning of the list with a class of ".shopping_item_list". Here is my HTML: <section> <h1 class="outline">Shopping List Items</h1> <ul class="shopping_item_list"> <li class="tile">Flowers<span class="delete">Delete</span></li> </ul> </section> My jQuery: $("input[name='shopping_item']").change(function() { var item = $(this).val(); $("<li class='tile'>+ item +</li>").prependTo(".shopping_item_list"); $(".tile").removeClass("middle"); $(".shopping_item_list li:nth-child(3n+2)").addClass("middle"); }); This isn't working, and I can't figure out why. I'm new to jQuery. Also, I need to add the "delete" span to the list item and am not sure how. Thanks for any help you can offer! Edited to add: Thanks to the feedback here, I was able to make it work with: $("input[name='shopping_item']").change(function() { var item = $(this).val(); $("<li class='tile'>" + item + "<span class='delete'>Delete</span>" + " </li>").prependTo(".shopping_item_list"); $(".tile").removeClass("middle"); $(".shopping_item_list li:nth-child(3n+2)").addClass("middle"); }); However, in my jquery, I have functions for the classes "tile" and "delete" that are not working for newly added items. // hide delete button $(".delete").hide(); // delete square $(".tile").hover(function() { $(this).find(".delete").toggle(); }); $(".tile").on("click", ".delete", function() { $(this).closest("li.tile").remove(); $(".tile").removeClass("middle"); $(".shopping_item_list li:nth-child(3n+2)").addClass("middle"); }); // cross off list $(".tile").click(function() { $(this).toggleClass("deleteAction"); }); The new items, which have these classes applied aren't using these functions at all. Do I need to add the functions below the add item? Does the order in which they appear in my js file matter? Do I need to add some kind of function?

  • How can I use $(this) in a function called by the onClick event?

    - by tepkenvannkorn
    I want to set the current state to selected when clicking on each link. I can do this by: <ul class="places"> <li class="selected"> <a href="javascript:void(0)" onclick="myClick(0);"> <span class="date">Saturday November 2, 2013</span> <span class="time">10am – 12pm</span> <span class="location">Western Sydney Parklands</span> </a> </li> <li> <a href="javascript:void(0)" onclick="myClick(1);"> <span class="date">Saturday November 9, 2013</span> <span class="time">10am – 12pm</span> <span class="location">Bankstown High School</span> </a> </li> <li> <a href="javascript:void(0)" onclick="myClick(2);"> <span class="date">Tuesday November 12, 2013</span> <span class="time">9am – 11am</span> <span class="location">Greystanes Park</span> </a> </li> </ul> $(document).ready( function() { $('.places li a').click( function() { $('.places li').removeClass('selected'); $(this).parent().addClass('selected'); }); }); But this will double triggering onclick event an each link because the calling function myClick() is called to push data to map. Then I decided to implement these in the myClick() function: function myClick( id ) { google.maps.event.trigger(markers[id], 'click'); $('.places li').removeClass('selected'); $(this).parent().addClass('selected'); } The problem is that I cannot use $(this) to add class to its parent li. See what I have tried here. Any help would be very much appreciated. Thanks!
