Similar in spirit but way more useful in its implementation is the RegexTransform in NuGet’s Build.tasks. It’s much better not only because it supports full regular expressions, but also because it receives items, which makes it very amenable to batching (applying the transforms to multiple items). • The actual difference between styesheet in the header and a seperate file

  Am wondering if someone can give me an opinion on this. I have always been taught to have all of the CSS in a separate file that is referenced from the head of the page. Reading this article http://www.lukew.com/ff/entry.asp?1792 the author is talking about making the Guardian website responsive. One of the things he notes they did to make the site faster and more resilient is to add the CSS inline into the header, thus reducing HTTP requests. Now this got me thinking about the right/best/fastest way of using the CSS If you have one main CSS file, its going to be called and read by the site on every page, no mater how big it is. So with that in mind, Im actually starting to think its better to just inline the whole style sheet and remove one HTTP roundtrip. I know for the purposes of neatness and being able to edit the file a seperate file is better. But which would you recommend and which do you think is faster? Thanks!

We need to run a new project in C and we have a lot of professional disagreements that in my opinion are caused by too much pride to his skill. For example he strives to insert code unnecessary code generation using C macros as possible instead of writing the same C code with the correct separations to functions. I tried to explain to him why inline function are a better replacement for C macros but he said to me that he knows better than gcc how to inline a function. How can I handle such a person?

  Over the past several weeks, we’ve been incrementally rolling out a bunch of enhancements around our pull request workflow for Git and Mercurial projects. Our goal is to make contributing to open source projects a simple and rewarding experience, and we’ll continue to invest in this area. Here’s a summary of the changes so far, in case you’ve missed them. As always, if you have any feedback, please let us know, whether on our ideas page or via Twitter. Support for branches You can now pick the source and destination branches for your pull request, whether you’re sending one from your fork, or using it within a project to collaborate with your other trusted contributors. A redesigned creation experience Our old pull request creation form was rather lacking. It asked for a title and comment in a small modal dialog, but that was about it. We knew we could do better, so we rethought the experience. Now, when you create a pull request, you’re taken to a new page that let’s you select the source and destination, and gives you information on the diffs and commits that you’re sending, so you can confirm that you’re sending the right set of changes. Inline code snippets in discussion If users comment on code in your pull request, we now display a preview of the snippet of relevant code inline with their comment on the discussion. Subsequent replies on that line are combined in a single thread to preserve your context. No more clicking and hunting to find where the comments are. And you can add another inline comment right from the discussion area. Comment notifications You can now elect receive an e-mail notification if a user comments on your pull request. If it’s on a line of code, we’ll display the relevant code snippet in the e-mail. Redesigned diff viewer Our old diff viewer hadn’t been touched in a while, and was in need of an update. We started with a visual facelift to use standard red/green colors for additions/deletions and remove the noisy “dots” that represented spaces and that littered the diff viewer. Based on feedback that the viewable region for diffs was too small, especially for smaller screen resolutions, we revamped the way the viewport for the code is sized, and now expand it to fill the majority of the browser height when scrolling down. The set of improvements we implemented here also apply anywhere diffs are viewed, not just for pull requests.

• Problems with Widgets in dojox DataGrid

  I am trying to include some editing Widgets in my dojox.grid.DataGrid seem to be having a lot of difficulty. I have tried everything I can think of to get it to work, but something just isn't going right. When I started having problems, I tried to copy almost exactly from the grid tests and model my "breakout" of code just like that, but without success. Basic editing of the Grid seems to work. In the example below, the "Events" column allows edits, but the two columns that are using the cellType attribute don't work. In fact they also seem to ignore the other attributes (like the styles) which would seem to indicate that some sort of issue was run into, but there is nothing in FireBug. It would seem to be fundamental, but I just can't seem to see it. [EDIT] What I have done instead is return a dijit Widget using the formatter to return a widget. • Iptables QUEUE Target and Snort

  I'm trying to set up a firewall with support for snort, and it is dropping all of my packets when I add the QUEUE target. I've made it like this, but the QUEUE target is not allowing the packets to be processed any further: -A INPUT -p tcp -m tcp --dport 22 -j ACCEPT -A INPUT -j QUEUE -A INPUT -j ACCEPT # It's not allowing anything past QUEUE, as you can see below in the count. > iptables -I INPUT -nv pkts bytes target prot opt in out source destination 6707 395K ACCEPT tcp -- * * 0.0.0.0/0 0.0.0.0/0 tcp dpt:22 933 138K QUEUE all -- * * 0.0.0.0/0 0.0.0.0/0 0 0 ACCEPT all -- * * 0.0.0.0/0 0.0.0.0/0 I'm eventually going to change it to forward, but I'm just trying to get it working for now. I start snort like so: snort -Q -D -c /etc/snort/snort.conf EDIT: More Information When I run it, it still sees the packets without having an iptables QUEUE target rule, but when I add a QUEUE target, it starts losing all of my packets. # snort -Qc /etc/snort/snort.conf -N -A console Enabling inline operation Running in IDS mode --== Initializing Snort ==-- Initializing Output Plugins!   I am trying to export pdf file using aspx and c#. I got the following error. • Rails3 and Paperclip

  Hi, I have migrated my application from rails 2.3 to rails3 and i have a problem with paperclip. I saw there was a branch for rails3 on paperclip git. So I added "gem 'paperclip', :git = 'git://github.com/thoughtbot/paperclip.git', :branch = 'rails3'" into the Gemfile and launch the command bundle install. Once paperclip installed, the upload worked fine but not the styles. • Fancybox close button not showing when using different template

  I have a page where I need to use 2 different FancyBox styles for different elements on the page. To achieve that, I added tpl option and modified stylesheet accordingly. Styles work great BUT on the FancyBox with modified template "close" button completly disappears! I tried both adding and deleting closeBtn from tpl but it doesn't seem to make any difference. I also have a demo here (eventually I will need different background-images for FancyBox, not just background-color, that's why I'm doing it). What am I doing wrong? Any help will be greatly appreciated!

• Multiple use of a form before it is submitted

  I'm new to JavaScript, and trying to figure out the canonical way to do the following. I have a form with some checkboxes and a selector. Let's say the checkboxes are styles of music and the selector is for people's names. I'd like the user to be able to select the styles of music for each of the people's names and then submit the form with all of the data. For example, the user might first check off Classical, Jazz, Rock, and Pop and choose "Joe", then select Jazz, Pop, Country, and Electronica and choose "Jane". So there would have to be two different buttons for "submit person" and "submit form". I would like to: Have a list of the names and their chosen styles populate below the form, for feedback Allow the user to use the form as much as they want, and then submit all the data at the end I get the feeling that using jquery and JSON is perfect for this, but I'm not sure what search terminology to use to figure out how to do this. If it matters, the form will be processed by a Django view in Python.

• Why would the IE Developer Toolbar claim a style is applied, yet that supposed fact is not reflected

  I have a situation where IE7 is simply not applying styles, even though it claims it is. I have an element on my page. In the CSS, I have defined a rule that should apply "display: none" to it, so it should not be displayed. It's still displaying. I downloaded the IE Developer Toolbar, and found the element in the DOM selector. I right-clicked and selected "Applied Styles." Right there, IE claims that it is applying my "display: none" rule. In fact, the "Applied Styles" dialog confirms everything I think I know about my CSS and how it should be applied. Yet the element remains. Now, I'm not asking anyone to debug my CSS here. I'm asking, if the IE Developer Toolbar claims/confirms this element should be gone, but it's still there...what does that mean, exactly? Since the Toolbar is on my side, I think my CSS is fine. Is there some IE7 bug I'm not considering? Edit: One thing that might be relevant: the LINK elements that load the stylesheets are applied to the page in Javascript, via "document.write". I'm starting to suspect that has something to do with it.

  What is the best practice to specify the positions of elements in GWT widget? Imagine you have a task: place a set of widgets in page layout. What would you use to position all your buttons and inputs in some order? standart HTML markup with tables/divs + CSS styles for positioning GWT widgets: panels, grids, tables + CSS styles for positioning GWT widgets: panels, grids, tables + their native properties for positioning If 2 or 3 - what would you use to reproduce a standart HTML table with colspans, fixed width columns and paddings? ps UIBinder and XML markup. GWT 2.4 My opinion: one of the biggest advantages of GWT is the ability to prevent programmer from writing HTML markup and add cross-browser support for interfaces. We shouldn't drop these points so its better to choose p.3 and try to use CSS ONLY for decoration - i.e. colors, fonts etc. Another point of view: its a bad idea to place any styles inline. By specifying properties of the widgets in XML markup we are literally doing exactly this. Also, GWT doesn't have enough widgets to produce a normal layout. For example you need to create a simple table with collspans and fixed column width. How would you go about this? Looks like you have to embed several HorizontalPanels into VerticalPanels, specify width/height in everyone of them and produce a great paper of XML by this. So whats your opinion?
