  • Reinstall of Microsoft Office 2010 beta isn't prompting me for upgrade vs. side-by-side installation

    I'm running Office 2007 on Windows 7. When I ran the Microsoft Office 2010 beta installation, it asked if I wanted to upgrade the existing 2007 installation or install along side 2007. I later uninstalled 2010 and rebooted. When I re-ran the Office 2010 setup program, it no longer asked if I wanted to upgrade or install side by side. It just did a side by side install by default. How can I get it to re-prompt me, as I'd now like to upgrade my 2007 install.

  • Open excel 2007 excel files and save as 97-2003 formats in VBA

    I have a weird situation where I have a set of excel files, all having the extension .xls., in a directory where I can open all of them just fine in Excel 2007. The odd thing is that I cannot open them in Excel 2003, on the same machine, without opening the file first in 2007 and going and saving the file as an "Excel 97-2003 Workbook". Before I save the file as an "Excel 97-2003 Workbook" from Excel 2007, when I open the excel files in 2003 I get the error that the file is not in a recognizable format. So my question is: if I already have the excel file opened in 2007 and I already have the file name of the open file stored in a variable, programatically how can I mimic the action of going up to the "office button" in the upper right and selecting, "save as" and then selecting "Excel 97-2003 Workbook"? I've tried something like the below but it does not save the file at all: ActiveWorkbook.SaveAs TempFilePath & TempFileName & ".xls", FileFormat:=56 Thanks for any help or guidance!

  • Accessing Sharepoint 2007 documents outside network

    Hello, I just installed MOSS 2007 and configure it on a machine. The machine is not in a domain. When I try to create a new document in my document library (Server is on a remote location and my laptop is not a part of the domain), MS Word 2007 opens, asks me for login credentials 3 times and then disappears leaving me with a new blank word document. Is there any way to enable remote access of MOSS 2007 documents? Thanks :)

  • SSRS 2008 & MOSS 2007 Alternate Access Mapping Problem

    I have a MOSS Server with SSRS 2008 Ent Ed configured in Sharepoint Integrated mode. It all works well as http://servername:88/ on the default host header. MOSS works fine using the external host name too on the intranet AAM field (http://site.domain.com/) however SSRS fails on the same url with the message: An unexpected error occurred while connecting to the report server. Verify that the report server is available and configured for SharePoint integrated mode. I think the issue is further complicated by our Windows 2008 infrastructure in which we've never been able to get SPN's working for Kerberos. SQL Server however, is on the same machine so I dont think it is a kerberos double hop issue. Extra info MOSS/SSRS are on a VM running Windows 2003 R2 VM is hosted on Win2008 HyperV DC is on Windows 2008 SBS

  • Sharepoint Lists.GetListItems Method rowLimit problem

    In SharePoint I am using the default view of a list. When I use GetListItems method I can pass into it the following: public XmlNode GetListItems ( string listName, string viewName, XmlNode query, XmlNode viewFields, string rowLimit, XmlNode queryOptions, string webID ) I am passing in "" for the viewName and am passing a rowLimit of 1000. By Default view only returns 100 items. 100 Items are still being returned not 1000. Can you use the rowLimit when not specifying a view? Is it possible to bring back 1000 items using the query instead? I do not really want to use a GUID for the viewName as I would have to look it up for each list and perform a big refactor. Update I am now using the guid of the view and my list still returns the incorrect number of items. I know the guid is being used as I sued an incorrect one and it errord out. Any ideas what could be wrong?     When I try and save something to my list in SharePoint I get the following error: Unable to complete this operation. I have checked my server and the smallest amount of space left on any of the drives is ~4GB. The file size is 1MB. I have checked the database and the data file is on unrestricted growth. Any ideas?

  • Unable to upload a file.

    User 'X' is the site-collection owner. He tries to upload a 500kb file into a document library, got the error "The server has aborted your upload. The files selected may exceed the server's upload size limit. If you are transfering a large group of files, try uploading fewer at a time." however web-application owners are able to upload the file. what would be the issue, any thoughts? Upload size limit for a file – 5 MB Site Quota template set – 50 MB Used Site Quota – 10 MB file format: pdf file size : 500kb file is on : desktop special characters : no Os : xP IE : 6.0 .Net : 3.5 any thoughts?

I am thinking that for each authenticated user (logged in) we would need an OS CAL & a SharePoint CAL & we would need a processor license for SQL Server - Is this correct & what about non-authemticatedc website "browsers"?   • SharePoint - DIP problem on local copies downloaded from the portal

    Our users have issues where the Document Information Panel(DIP) appears on Word, Excel, PPT documents. Here is the scenario: User downloads a copy of a template from the portal to his/her local hard drive. User edits that template and renames the file, again saving it to his/her local drive. User continues to edit and update that new document, and it continues to prompt him/her for document information as if the user was saving it on the portal. User clicks the “X” to remove this DIP bar, the next time he/she opens the local file it comes back. Is there anything I can do to make the DIP NOT SHOW on the local copies? Thanks!

    Hi there, In my email today I got the following: The My Site of is scheduled for deletion. As their manager you are now the temporary owner of their site. This temporary ownership gives you access to the site to copy any business-related information you might need. To access the site use this URL: http://mysites.freud.com/personal/ I click on the link and I can see that there site is there. I do not want there site to be deleted at all what can I do.     I have a list which I've set item-level permissions on. I set it to allow users to read all items and only edit their own items... The issue is that if I do this then I can still edit all items... If I change it so that I can only read my own and only edit my own then it works as expected... Anyone have any thoughts on why this would be occurring and a solution... I've set the list up to only allow one user account with contribute rights for testing purposes...

    I had the question today of whether SharePoint 2010 supports workflow on multiple items, since Groove's workflow apparently supported multiple items and that model disappeared when Groove Workspaces were amalgamated into SharePoint Sites and SharePoint Workspace (the client utility). It's a great question, the short answer is that yes, it's possible.     We observed that sudden increase of SQL connections during a specific hour, it is a backend of a SharePoint 2007 Farm. From SharePoint 2007 Perspective: 1. Incremental crawling is scheduled at that time and few of the Timer jobs (normal timer jobs) are scheduled to run every mins / per 10mins. 2. Number of user requests are less. From SQL Server 2005 Perspective: 1. Transaction log backup is scheduled at that time 2. No other scheduled jobs are running at that time. so, how to narrow down the issue, what would be causing the sudden SQL connection increase?

  • Installing Sharepoint 2007 on Windows Server 2008 R2

    we are using in our lab a clean installation of Windows Server 2008 R2 which is running as Hyper-V instance. Today we wanted to install a clean installation of Sharepoint 2007 with SP1 on this machine and we explorer an error that we are not able to install it. The setup is comes up with an error which is described here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/962935 but this is not our szenario. A printscreen of this message can be found here: http://www.ronischuetz.com/images/SP_2007SP1_Inst_Error.png @Microsoft, my personal point of view is that it cannot be that we need to install first 2008, then Sharepoint 2007 with SP1, then SP2 and upgrade to 2008 R2. Nobody is going be happy with this solution and I hope we find a fast way how customers can install Sharepoint direclty on 2008 R2. Anyway, thanks in advance for any further information how we should go on with this issue.
