  • Dealing with HTTP content in HTTPS pages

    We have a site which is accessed entirely over HTTPS, but sometimes display external content which is HTTP (images from RSS feeds, mainly). The vast majority of our users are also stuck on IE6. I would both of the following Prevent the IE warning message about insecure content Present something useful to users in place of the images that they can't otherwise see; if there was some JS I could run to figure out which images haven't been loaded and replace them with an image of ours instead that would be great. I suspect that the first aim is simply not possible, but the second may be sufficient. A worst case scenario is that I parse the RSS feeds when we import them, grab the images store them locally so that the users can access them that way, but it seems like a lot of pain for reasonably little gain.

  • asp.net master page/content page interaction with style sheet

    Learning how to do a master page in asp.net. Trying to figure out how my style sheet interacts with respects to the master page and content page. I can get HTML tags like body and the style sheet to react. But when I call the ID attribute of a label no styling takes place. What am I missing here as far as interaction?   • Alternatives to LINQ To SQL on high loaded pages

    To begin with, I LOVE LINQ TO SQL. It's so much easier to use than direct querying. But, there's one great problem: it doesn't work well on high loaded requests. I have some actions in my ASP.NET MVC project, that are called hundreds times every minute. I used to have LINQ to SQL there, but since the amount of requests is gigantic, LINQ TO SQL almost always returned "Row not found or changed" or "X of X updates failed". And it's understandable. For instance, I have to increase some value by one with every request. var stat = DB.Stats.First(); stat.Visits++; // .... DB.SubmitChanges(); But while ASP.NET was working on those //... instructions, the stats.Visits value stored in the table got changed. I found a solution, I created a stored procedure UPDATE Stats SET Visits=Visits+1 It works well. Unfortunately now I'm getting more and more moments like that. And it sucks to create stored procedures for all cases. So my question is, how to solve this problem? Are there any alternatives that can work here? I hear that Stackoverflow works with LINQ to SQL. And it's more loaded than my site.

    Hi. I have a site where both landing and thank you page are index.php page with different content loaded dynamically. As I'm generating the javascript and trying to validate it, it gives me an error saying that JS is not installed on the thank you page, which makes sense, because its content is not loaded yet. I was wondering how I can circumvent this issue? Any suggestions? Thanks! Luka

  • Empty Postbacks on ASP.NET pages

    We are having a problem that seems to only be a problem when accessing our websites from internal intranet machines. When logged into the domain, and accessing our websites, postbacks are not working. Basically the page behaves as if it were refreshed and nothing was changed. When logging the GETs and POSTs with an HTTP analyzer, the post is complete empty and the ContentLength is 0. It is also very sporadic, but seems to be happening fairly often. In the case where it failed, we could see that there was an extra item in the Header for the POST, it was "Authorization" and the value was the word "Negotiate " followed by a space and then a bunch of characters and two equal symbols at the end, which looked like some kind of base64 encoded value. In a case where it succeeded, this Authorization item was no in the header, but I have logged more than one successful cases to know if that is consistent. We have seen this occur only with IE8 so far, and when it occurs it is sometimes sporadic. I can close and open the browser and it will begin working sometimes, and other times it is still broken. What might be causing the postback to be empty? This means the viewstate is not sent to the server which makes the page basically broken. It seems to certainly be a client side issue, but not sure if it's not aggravated by some server settings. Thanks in advance.

  • Django 404 pages not appearing?

    I want to add a 404 page on my Django site. I've created a template, 404.html, and saved it in the root of my /templates directory. I've also made sure that the from django.conf.urls.defaults import * line is included at the top of urls.py. I've set DEBUG to False. (I've been following these instructions.) However, if I try to go to a page that I know doesn't exist - whether a made-up URL or a view specifically designed to do get_object_or_404 - the 404 page doesn't appear: I just get Chrome's standard 'Oops! This link appears to be broken' page. Oddly, I also have a 500.html template in the same place and that is appearing just fine if I generate a 500 error. What might the problem be?

  • Codeigniter Session Data not available in other pages after login

    So, I have set up a login page that verifies the user's credentials, and then sets codeigniter session data 'email' and 'is_logged_in' and a few other items. The first page after the login, the data is accessible. After that page, I can no longer access the session data. In fact, if I try reloading that first page, the session data is gone. I have tried storing it in the database, storing it unencrypted (bad idea I know, but it was for troubleshooting), and storing it encrypted. I have autoloaded the session library in config.php. Here's an example of the code I'm using to set the session data: $data = array( 'email' => $this->input->post('username'), 'is_logged_in' => true ); $this->session->set_userdata($data); And to retrieve it, I'm using : $this->session->userdata('email'); Or $this->session->userdata('is_logged_in'); I've done lots of work with PHP and cookies, and sessions before, but this is my first project with Codeigniter and I'm perplexed. Could it have something to do with directory issues? I have the login page and process controlled by a 'login' controller, and then it redirects to a 'site' controller. Thanks for your help, and please let me know if I need to clarify anything.

  • MasterPage Page_Load hits before Grid_ItemCommand

    I am using the session object to store success/error messages based on user actions. On each postback, the message is set on ItemCommend and retrieved on the Page_Load of the master page. Once retrieved, the message is deleted from the session. The problem is that the master page's Page_Load gets called before the ItemCommand gets called so the message does not show up until the next refresh or postback. How is this situation normally handled? Is there some other event we can code against?

    I previously asked how to include Javascript in my page when I split the page into a MasterPage and ContentPlaceHolder (.NET 2.0 app) The issue was I only wanted the javascript functions on THAT page so I couldn't just put them on the masterpage. Based on the answers, I will inlcude common fucntions through MasterPage and can put the page-specific function right on the content page. However, 1 question remains: Events. I have 2 Javascript functions that I wanted to load when the page loads ala the HTML below. How do you load javascript page events on the specific content page? Or in the case below, the OnKeyPress event? <body onkeypress="javascript:keypressed();" onload="javascript:setDivVisibility();">

  • IIS Not Serving PHP pages

    I have followed these instructions exactly, yet I get a "Page cannot be found" 404 error http://learn.iis.net/page.aspx/247/using-fastcgi-to-host-php-applications-on-iis-60/ My PHP file is <?php phpinfo(); ?> I am running Windows Server 2003 and installed FastCGI and made sure everything is correct per those instructions. I can also create an HTML page and that serves no problem, so it must be an issue with PHP. Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

Of course, i will not publish all this pages at the same time, but i'm looking for infos on how much pages should i start with without going to the sandbox. For example, could i start with a 50 pages website or is it too much ? Then, have you an idea (i know there's no precises rules here) what's the frenquency / volume of pages i could add later ?     UPDATE I tried using the internal wordpress rewrite. What I have to do is an address like this: http://example.com/galleria/artist-name sent to the gallery.php page with a variable containing the artist-name. Old question What I need to do is rewriting this address: (1) http://localhost/wordpress/fake/text-value to (2) http://localhost/wordpress/gallery?somevar=text-value Notes: the remapping must be transparent: the user always has to see address (1) gallery is a permalink to a wordpress page, not a real address I basically need to rewrite the address first (to modify it) and then feed it back to mod rewrite again (to let wordpress parse it its own way). Problems if I simply do RewriteRule ^fake$ http://localhost/wordpress/gallery [L] it works but the address in the browser changes, which is no good, if I do RewriteRule ^fake$ /wordpress/gallery [L] I get a 404. I tried different flags instead of [L] but to no avail. How can I get this to work?     I am developing a C# VS 2008 / SQL Server 2008 ASP.NET Web Applications project. In one of my ASPX files I am trying to reference the Master file, which is actually located in the parent website. In other words, when I open the parent website, I see this project listed. But when I open this project separately, I do not see parent website and this project is the root. So now how do I use the Master file from the parent website? Currently, I have in my ASPX file: <%@ Page Language="C#" MasterPageFile="~/Site.Master" AutoEventWireup="true" CodeFile="EnhancedCreateUserWizard.aspx.cs" Inherits="Membership_EnhancedCreateUserWizard" Title="Untitled Page" %> But this won't work because it is a virtual path and since this project is the root, I can't access the Master file virtually. Instead I want to specify physical path. How accomplish I do this?

    Hi, I'm developing a web site with asp.net on localhost, I'm beginner. I wrote a login page and it works well. However when I click a link, the server can't load the page and gives this error: A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (provider: Named Pipes Provider, error: 40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server) Any idea?

  • Error accessing uncompiled pages using ISA Server 2006 SP1

    We are in the processing of configuring a portal to use ISA Server as our front end security provider. So we are using ISA Server 2006 SP1. Unfortunately when we access .net applications through ISA Server, the first time they are accessed. i.e. They are not compiled yet, the following error appears: Error Code: 500 Internal Server Error. The parameter is incorrect. (87) In the ISA Monitoring logs, this shows: Failed Connection Attempt Log type: Web Proxy (Reverse) Status: 87 The parameter is incorrect. Once the application is compiled, the error never appears. Does anyone know how to resolve this, so the site works correctly the first time? Some additional information: The websites accessed are running on windows server 2008 64 bit - standard edition, and occurs for Sharepoint as well as standard .net websites. ISA Server is running on Windows server 2003 R2 SP2 Standard eidtion The firewall on the windows server 2008 box allows all access. (To rule this out.) Nothing odd appears in the IIS logs or firewall logs.
