  • Cannot reinstall Windows on Toughbook CF-19, OEM or upgrade issue?

    My Toughbook (CF-19) has a 'Windows Vista Business OEMAct, Panasonic' COA on the bottom of the unit. When I extracted the key before reformatting - it was a 'Windows XP Professional' Product Name and the Product ID code has 'OEM' in it...and I can confirm this upgrade was last OS installed (w/ Service Pack 3) - but there was the tablet functionality. This extracted product key isn't working with any version of Windows I try installing. XP Pro, XP Pro Tablet 2005 OEM, Tablet XP OEM. Any insights?

  • Unable to locate a specific shape in Visio

    I'm trying to create (convert) a Visio architecture diagram from an existing image which is available in the format of JPG extension. My question is, in this complete architecture diagram which I'm trying to convert, there is one specific shape/symbol which I couldn't able to locate/find in the Visio stencil. Can somebody help me in locating this shape/symbol either inside Visio stencil or from any external stencils/symbols? NOTE: I'm using Visio Professional 2013.

  • Why does the "Logon Help" dialog show up on every boot?

    Every time I boot Windows XP Professional on my notebook, the Logon Help dialog (the one which tells you how to press Ctrl-Alt-Delete) automatically opens. How do I disable this? This did not always happen, but has been going on for quite a while now, with both SP2 and SP3. I'm using the classic logon screen, where you have to type in your username and password.

    Hi, I live in Israel and I bought Windows 7 Professional in Hebrew. I'd like to switch the language to English. In Control Panel - Region and Language I don't have any options to switch the display language to English because only Hebrew is installed. In Windows Update, there are no language updates. I have waited three days, and still no language update. Any Ideas? Thank you.

  • Network Printers

    We have a sever that shares all the printers. The PC's that are running on XP professional get a error message quoting (Connect to Printer). The only way I can find to get around the problem is by restating the printer and as soon is it comes online you can then add it but you have not got long. do you think it could be anything to-do with updates on the sever? the sever system is running Windows Server 2003 any help would be much appreciated.     Purchased a new computer, actually the parts to build one. Unsure what windows 7 to purchase. Need at least professional, seems to be around $200 upgrade to $300 full version. If I put the old XP on my new machine, will i be bale to use the 64bit windows 7 Pro upgrade instead of having to buy the full version? Will it still do a clean install?

  • Impossible to create/format install window 7 on unpartioned HD

    Hi guys i am getting nut reinstalling windows 7 on one of those Acer aspire all-in-one... The original OS(windows professional x64) was not starting, after the initial screen the bios was prompted. So step 1: i tried to access the system partition and reinstall everything but could not get at the point step 2: i set the bios to native ide and i tried to insert my original copy of windows professional and do a clean installation, but it does not allow me to format/create other partion form the installation mask step 3: my BAD, i tried to install ubuntu and i clean the whole hard drive, i was getting an error at some point during installation so i decided to get back to windows step 4: Windows 7 again, at the disk screen of the windows installation i entered into the prompt and played around with DISKPART... -i listed the disk and the HD was disk 0. -i selected disk 0. -i CLEAN disk 0 successfully. -i tried to create a CREATE PARTITION PRIMARY but gave an error cache corrupt and disk not up-to-date (after i try to create a partiton in disk 0 it disappear when i try LIST DISK and i have to restart before he can list DISK 0 again, RESCAN did not worked). -tried CLEAN ALL(2 hours) and succeeded. -try again to create primary partition and failed, same errors -try to install my old copy of windows xP pro and it seems to work, it create a partition, format(only quick worked, slow mode was at 0% after 1 hour so i stop), it start installing and around 90% installation said it could not copy a file and he stop -back on windows 7 again, it says that the hard drive has 490+gb unpartitioned but won't create a partition and format. -i tried again DISKPART as i though i messed up with the MBR when i installed ubuntu, so i did all of the instruction below http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/20864-mbr-restore-windows-7-master-boot-record.html http://support.microsoft.com/kb/927392 the errors were: on bootsect: the systne partiton was not found, Data error cyclic redundancy check on bootrec /FixMbr: A device attached to the system is not functioning but did not worked, and still can not partiton/format/install on a blank HD i tried some bootable clean disk tool and start infinite loop on the same errors the bios setting are: sata: native ide. if i put AHCL(or something like that does not load the HD and the DVD). quick start/quite start: disabled. Are there any other option or tools i can try before i try change the HD(That is my last option)? Thanks to everyone.

I am trying to upgrade from windows xp sp3 (Media Centre edition) Steps I've followed: Clean install from XP SP3 Professional disc Installed all drivers downloaded upgrade advisor and ran where it just closed after like 2 seconds without even showing the screen changed to have a selected startup after finding guidance on the internet, this still did not make a difference Does anybody have an idea? I've looked for logs but can't find anything.

    My host is running Win 7 ultimate 64bit, ESET NOD32 AV 4.0 (64 bit). My guest OS is Windows XP Professional (Sp3) Using bridge mode, I can ping gateway just fine, even ping public dns server (8.8.8.8 or 208.67.222.222). But cannot resolve any dns request. I tried using nslookup with public dns, my gateway but no good. I can access my host share file normally thou. Any suggestions?

  • Why do Chinese filenames displays as boxes in Windows 7?

    I'm running Windows 7 Professional (UK), and trying to get filenames containing Chinese characters to display correctly in Explorer. I can create Chinese filenames in explorer by pasting text from a webpage or using the Chinese IME to rename files, but the characters just display as boxes (Unicode 'missing character' glyph). The Chinese fonts are installed on the system, and web pages display OK in the browser. In particular, I can see the correct Chinese filenames by pointing chrome at file://C:\, for example.

    After uninstalling Dell's wireless utility I get a new hardware found dialog that can not find any driver for my wifi card on it's own. I'm running Windows XP Professional Service Pack 3, and I would like to use the default wifi handler since dell's utility does not work with my company's wireless switch. I want the machine to be snappy and responsive even when doing a reasonable amount of Development work.     I'm using 64-bit TortoiseSVN on a 64-bit Windows 7 Professional. Every so often a checkout or update will fail with an error message like the following: Error: Can't move Error: '[...]\\.svn\tmp\entries' Error: to Error: '[...]\\.svn\entries': Error: The file or directory is corrupted and unreadable. then CHKDSK runs after reboot, which makes me nervous. Does anyone know why this might be happening or how I can avoid it?
