But how can I create Event.music.count() ? Should I call self.all() in count_music() function of MusicManager to query only on elements with 'Music' category or do I still need to filter through them in search for category first ?

  I'm having Pages with TextBlocks on them. Text Blocks may appear on different pages, pages may have several text blocks on them. Every page may have these blocks in an ordering of it's own. This can be solved by using a separate through parameter. Like so: class TextBlock(models.Model): title = models.CharField(max_length=255) text = models.TextField() class Page(models.Model): textblocks = models.ManyToManyField(TextBlock, through=OrderedTextBlock) class OrderedTextBlock(models.Model): text_block = models.ForeignKey(TextBlock) product_page = models.ForeignKey(ProductPage) weight = models.IntegerField() class Meta: ordering = ('weight',) But I'm not very enthousiastic about the violations of DRY for my app. (There's a lot of ordered ManyToMany relations). • flicker when drawing 4 models for the first time

  i have some models that i only draw at a certain moment in the game (after some seconds since the game has started). The problem is that in that first second when i start to draw the models, i see a flicker (in the sence that everything besides those models, dissapears, the background gets purple). The flicker only lasts for that frame, and then everything seems to run the way it should. • Are there any sFTP clients that support a proxy that uses NTLM authentication?

  The title pretty much summarizes the question. We have deployed an sFTP server that needs to be accessed from our client's MS Windows Pc's that reside within a restricted local area network. The only way they can get out for their Intranet is to use an HTTP proxy that requires NTLM authentication. From what I understand all open-source sFTP clients (FilleZilla,WinSCP,etc) do NOT support NTLM authentication (Because of legal issues). I know that there are workarounds to this (installing a local proxy at the machine that understands NTLM) but this would break all sorts of security policies of our client. So my question is : Does anyone know of any sFTP client that supports a NTLM Proxy?

• Using local proxy to specify used NIC on Windows 7?

  I'm running Windows 7 and have 2 NIC installed, both are connected to the Internet (nic#1 LTE, nic#2 DSL). Windows 7 will only allow me to specify a binding order and a metric on which interface to chose but i can't specify this on an application level. My Idea was to use a local proxy server and use the proxy server whenever i want to use nic#2. I tried wingate and free proxy, both applications will let me chose the interface i want to use but this setting seems to have no effect? • How to route traffic through a specific SOCKS proxy on a per-app basis?

  I'm running a certain desktop app (actually via AIR if it makes any difference) which doesn't have any built-in proxy configuration settings. I need to get all traffic just from this app directed through a secure SOCKS proxy. This implies I can't use the global network preferences, as these would affect many other apps. Is there any way to force all network communication through a given SOCKS proxy on a per-app basis? It would also be helpful to know if there's a way to perform such routing globally, based on specific IP addresses (as this could allow for some reasonable workaround).

• Do I need to have a proxy server to have HTTP over SSH?

  I want to use HTTP over SSH since in my university most of the sites are blocked. I have my own server to which I can using SSH. What I'm doing right now is have a squid proxy run on the server on a particular port. Then connect using putty to my server via ssh and create a tunnel from a certain local port (which I will enter as proxy server in Firefox) to the squid server. So in putty the configuration is like this for the tunnel: source port:8080 destination:localhost:3128 I want to know is there any other way other than running the squid proxy on my server to tunnel the packets? • Setting up a transparent proxy with only one box.

  I am playing around with transparent proxies, unfortunately I do not have two machines to test it out with. The current way I am doing things is the program makes a request to a computer on port 80, I use iptables -t nat -A OUTPUT -p tcp --destination-port 80 -j REDIRECT --to-port 1234 to redirect to my proxy that I am playing with. the proxy will send out a request to port 81 (as all outbound port 80 are being fed back in to the proxy so I want to do something like iptables -t nat -A OUTPUT -p tcp --destination-port 81 -j DNAT --to-destination xxxx:80 The problem lies with the xxxx part. How do I change the destination port without changing changing the destination ip? Or am I doing this setup completely wrong, I am learning after all and constructive criticism is definitely appreciated. The machine I am using is pretty low end so I would like not not have to create a VM with a second box unless absolutely necessary.

  Our campus uses a squid proxy caching server with a basic authentication for all outbound requests coming from internal network. The whole network uses private IP range from 172.16.0.0 to 172.31.255.255. Most of our faculty websites and library websites are hosted on LAN. I want to access those faculty websites and other internal websites when I am outside the proxy (say when I am at my home and not in campus). I don't know whether I can use the same basic authentication from outside to access those LAN websites. Is there a way I can do that? I don't know whether our proxy server allows it or not, but if that's possible - I want to know how (how to set up browser etc.)?

I am trying to setup reverse proxy for IIS6 using IIRF so content is accessible via http: //bamboo. It seems that I set it ip correctly, and I can retrieve Status page. • Nginx proxy hangs when proxiing to itself

  I have Nginx running as a proxy for a number of services including a Geoserver running on port 8080 with the following config: location ^~ /wms/ { rewrite ^/wms/(.*)$ /geoserver/ows$1 break; proxy_pass http://127.0.0.1:8080; proxy_connect_timeout 60s; proxy_read_timeout 150s; } and a proxy service to avoid SOP problems which works as follows: location ^~ /proxy/?targetURL= { rewrite ^/proxy/?targetURL=(.*)$ $1 break; proxy_pass $1; proxy_connect_timeout 60s; proxy_read_timeout 150s; } My web server is also under the same domain, ran by a jetty on port 8888, handled by the same proxy. location / { proxy_pass http://127.0.0.1:8888; proxy_connect_timeout 60s; proxy_read_timeout 150s; } From my web application I make WMS server calls for data via my proxy service. It works fine for external servers but it hangs when I call my own internal geoserver. My geoserver proxy works fine, I can make WMS service queries with the said URL. The call that hangs is basically: http://mywebappdomain.com/proxy/?targetURL=http://mywebappdomain.com/wms/?my_set_of_parameters Which means that the proxy rule applies and the WMS service is called from the same server. Is there an issue with proxying over itself?

• Django: Overriding the save() method: how do I call the delete() method of a child class

  The setup = I have this class, Transcript: class Transcript(models.Model): body = models.TextField('Body') doPagination = models.BooleanField('Paginate') numPages = models.PositiveIntegerField('Number of Pages') and this class, TranscriptPages(models.Model): class TranscriptPages(models.Model): transcript = models.ForeignKey(Transcript) order = models.PositiveIntegerField('Order') content = models.TextField('Page Content', null=True, blank=True) The Admin behavior I’m trying to create is to let a user populate Transcript.body with the entire contents of a long document and, if they set Transcript.doPagination = True and save the Transcript admin, I will automatically split the body into n Transcript pages. In the admin, TranscriptPages is a StackedInline of the Transcript Admin. To do this I’m overridding Transcript’s save method: def save(self): if self.doPagination: #do stuff super(Transcript, self).save() else: super(Transcript, self).save() The problem = When Transcript.doPagination is True, I want to manually delete all of the TranscriptPages that reference this Transcript so I can then create them again from scratch. So, I thought this would work: #do stuff TranscriptPages.objects.filter(transcript__id=self.id).delete() super(Transcript, self).save() but when I try I get this error: Exception Type: ValidationError Exception Value: [u'Select a valid choice. That choice is not one of the available choices.'] ... and this is the last thing in the stack trace before the exception is raised: .../django/forms/models.py in save_existing_objects pk_value = form.fields[pk_name].clean(raw_pk_value) Other attempts to fix: t = self.transcriptpages_set.all().delete() (where self = Transcript from the save() method) looping over t (above) and deleting each item individually making a post_save signal on TranscriptPages that calls the delete method Any ideas? How does the Admin do it? UPDATE: Every once in a while as I'm playing around with the code I can get a different error (below), but then it just goes away and I can't replicate it again... until the next random time. • Performance Problems with Django's F() Object

  Has anyone else noticed performance issues using Django's F() object? I am running Windows XP SP3 and developing against the Django trunk. A snippet of the models I'm using and the query I'm building are below. When I have the F() object in place, each call to a QuerySet method (e.g. filter, exclude, order_by, distinct, etc.) takes approximately 2 seconds, but when I comment out the F() clause the calls are sub-second. I had a co-worker test it on his Ubuntu machine, and he is not experiencing the same performance issues I am with the F() clause. • Apache load balancer limits with Tomcat over AJP

  Hi All, I have Apache acting as a load balancer in front of 3 Tomcat servers. Occasionally, Apache returns 503 responses, which I would like to remove completely. All 4 servers are not under significant load in terms of CPU, memory, or disk, so I am a little unsure what is reaching it's limits or why. 503s are returned when all workers are in error state - whatever that means.   I've got a Fedora LAMP server on Amazon EC2 functioning as a HTTP pseudo-proxy (Sorry, don't know the terminology- It's not a true proxy where requests are relayed through apache, rather client requests are being translated by a PHP script, which then sends a new request.) I'd like to be able to fully log the HTTP cycle CLIENT - PROXY PROXY - SERVICE SERVICE - PROXY PROXY - CLIENT I'm hoping to do this using BASH tools- thinking netcat? Looking for advice and examples. • prevent domain controller using wpad for windows update

  We have a 2012 domain controller in an environment where we are running a web proxy auto discovery (WPAD) setup for client devices, and that proxy server requires authentication. However windows update does not support proxy servers requiring authentication. So we want to prevent windows update on our servers from using the WPAD proxy settings. On a domain member server we can log in to the local administrator account (not domain admin) and un-tick the the "Auto detect proxy settings" in IE internet options and that fixes the issue on those servers. But a domain controller does not have a local admin account, as that account is the domain admin account. Doing this to the domain admin account on the DC does not prevent it from using WPAD. Our whole purpose of running a proxy server that requires authentication is so we can identify what the users on our session based remote desktop servers are doing on the internet.
