  • contenteditable selected text save and restore

    - by alex
    I came across this post that shows 2 functions on how to save and restore selected text from a contenteditable div. I have the below div set as contenteditable and the 2 function from the other post. How to i use these functions to save and restore selected text. <div style="width:300px;padding:10px;" contenteditable="true">test test test test</div> <script> function saveSelection() { if (window.getSelection) { sel = window.getSelection(); if (sel.getRangeAt && sel.rangeCount) { return sel.getRangeAt(0); } } else if (document.selection && document.selection.createRange) { return document.selection.createRange(); } return null; } function restoreSelection(range) { if (range) { if (window.getSelection) { sel = window.getSelection(); sel.removeAllRanges(); sel.addRange(range); } else if (document.selection && range.select) { range.select(); } } } </script>

  • Using Interop.Word, is there a way to do a replace (using Find.Execute) and keep the original text's

    - by AJ
    I'm attempting to write find/replace code for Word documents using Word Automation through Interop.Word (11.0). My documents all have various fields (that don't show up in Document.Fields) that are surrounded with brackets, eg., <DATE> needs to be replaced with DateTime.Now.Format("MM/dd/yyyy"). The find/replace works fine. However, some of the text being replaced is right-justified, and upon replacement, the text wraps to the next line. Is there any way that I can keep the justification when I perform the replace? Code is below: using Word = Microsoft.Office.Interop.Word; Word.Application wordApp = null; try { wordApp = new Word.Application {Visible = false}; //.... open the document .... object unitsStory = Word.WdUnits.wdStory; object moveType = Word.WdMovementType.wdMove; wordApp.Selection.HomeKey(ref unitsStory, ref moveType); wordApp.Selection.Find.ClearFormatting(); wordApp.Selection.Find.Replacement.ClearFormatting(); //tried removing this, no luck object replaceTextWith = DateTime.Now.ToString("MM/dd/yyyy"); object textToReplace = "<DATE>"; object replaceAll = Word.WdReplace.wdReplaceAll; object typeMissing = System.Reflection.Missing.Value; wordApp.Selection.Find.Execute(ref textToReplace, ref typeMissing, ref typeMissing, ref typeMissing, ref typeMissing, ref typeMissing, ref typeMissing, ref typeMissing, ref typeMissing, ref typeMissing, ref replaceTextWith, ref replaceAll, ref typeMissing, ref typeMissing, ref typeMissing, ref typeMissing); // ... save quit etc.... } finally { //clean up wordApp } TIA.

  • After I apply custom logic, next UI action crashes my app.

    - by DanF
    I've got an team (eveningRoster) that I'm making a button add employees to. The team is really a relationship to that night's event, but it's represented with an AC. I wanted to make sure an employee did not belong to the team before it adds, so I added a method to MyDocument to check first. It seems to work, the error logs complete, but after I've added a member, the next time I click anything, the program crashes. Any guesses why? Here's the code: -(IBAction)playsTonight:(id)sender { NSArray *selection = [fullRoster selectedObjects]; NSArray *existing = [eveningRoster arrangedObjects]; //Result will be within each loop. BOOL result; //noDuplicates will stay YES until a duplicate is found. BOOL noDuplicates = YES; //For the loop: int count; for (count = 0; count < [selection count]; count++){ result = [existing containsObject:[selection objectAtIndex:count]]; if (result == YES){ NSLog(@"Duplicate found!"); noDuplicates = NO; } } if (noDuplicates == YES){ [eveningRoster addObjects:[fullRoster selectedObjects]]; NSLog(@"selected objects added."); [eveningTable reloadData]; NSLog(@"Table reloaded."); } [selection release]; [existing release]; return; }

  • Ad distribution problem: an optimal solution?

    - by Mokuchan
    I'm asked to find a 2 approximate solution to this problem: You’re consulting for an e-commerce site that receives a large number of visitors each day. For each visitor i, where i € {1, 2 ..... n}, the site has assigned a value v[i], representing the expected revenue that can be obtained from this customer. Each visitor i is shown one of m possible ads A1, A2 ..... An as they enter the site. The site wants a selection of one ad for each customer so that each ad is seen, overall, by a set of customers of reasonably large total weight. Thus, given a selection of one ad for each customer, we will define the spread of this selection to be the minimum, over j = 1, 2 ..... m, of the total weight of all customers who were shown ad Aj. Example Suppose there are six customers with values 3, 4, 12, 2, 4, 6, and there are m = 3 ads. Then, in this instance, one could achieve a spread of 9 by showing ad A1 to customers 1, 2, 4, ad A2 to customer 3, and ad A3 to customers 5 and 6. The ultimate goal is to find a selection of an ad for each customer that maximizes the spread. Unfortunately, this optimization problem is NP-hard (you don’t have to prove this). So instead give a polynomial-time algorithm that approximates the maximum spread within a factor of 2. The solution I found is the following: Order visitors values in descending order Add the next visitor value (i.e. assign the visitor) to the Ad with the current lowest total value Repeat This solution actually seems to always find the optimal solution, or I simply can't find a counterexample. Can you find it? Is this a non-polinomial solution and I just can't see it?

  • Use variables to decide which object in an array gets an attribute?

    - by DavidR
    I have a web app which has two text areas. When one text area receives a mousedown event, a variable "side" is set, either "left" or "right." When a user selects some text in a text area, three strings are made. One for the text before the beginning of the selection, the selection itself, and the text after the selection to the end. A function is set to return these like this: return { head: head_text, tail: tail_text, sel: sel_text, side: text_side } Now, I have created an array, and I want it to appear in such a way that we get, text.left({"head":"four score", "selection":"and seven", "tail":"years ago."}) I am assuming I would do this by text.side = getSelection(), but how do I get it to evaluate the variable "side" instead of thinking of it as an object within "text"? EDIT: Ok, just to clarify, I might be completely wrong in my ideas in how this works, but here it goes. I want to make it so that a function can look at "text" see within text two objects, "left" and "right," and then evaluate the head, sel, and tail of each object. Would it be easier for me to use two objects?

  • SWT Browser Drag and Drop

    - by scottalas
    I'm trying to use drag-n-drop with an embedded SWT Browser, so that my application can drag hyperlinks from the Browser to another Control. I've been able to set up the destination to receive data from an external browser, but the internal does not seem to participate in the drag-n-drop. Any ideas? I would guess that I need something like a selection listener to track when something is grabbed in the browser, or some way to ask the browser what is currently selected, perhaps using javascript. My current setup of the Browser is simplistic, looking like this: browser = new Browser(top, SWT.NONE); // MOZILLA createDragSource(browser); // below // a selection listener never receives events: browser.addListener(SWT.Selection, new Listener() { @Override public void handleEvent(Event event) { System.out.println("Selection listener event"); } }); ... private void createDragSource(final Browser browser) { Transfer[] types = new Transfer[] { URLTransfer.getInstance(), HTMLTransfer.getInstance(), TextTransfer.getInstance(), ImageTransfer.getInstance(), }; int mode = DND.DROP_COPY | DND.DROP_LINK | DND.DROP_MOVE; DragSource dragSource = new DragSource(browser, mode); dragSource.setTransfer(types); dragSource.addDragListener(new DragSourceListener() { public void dragStart(DragSourceEvent event) { System.out.println("source.dragStart"); } public void dragSetData(DragSourceEvent event) { System.out.println("source.dragSetData"); // Is there a way to get the Browser's drag item here? } public void dragFinished(DragSourceEvent event) { System.out.println("source.dragFinished"); //do nothing } }); } Thanks for any help!

  • Using Gtk.TreeDragSource.drag_data_get()

    - by knutsondc
    I have a simple Gtk.TreeView with a Gtk.ListStore with four columns as the model. I want to be able to drag and drop rows within the TreeView and track row insertions, changes and deletions as they happen so I can implement undo/redo to drag and drop operations. I'm using PyGObject 3 and Python 3.2. I thought that using methods under the Gtk.TreeDragSource and Gtk.TreeDragDest interfaces would suit my needs perfectly, with Gtk.TreeDragSource.drag_data_get() in my drag_data_get handler and Gtk.TreeDragDest.drag_data_received() or Gtk.tree_get_row_drag_data() in my drag_data_received handler. Basically, what I've tried looks something like this: def drag_data_received(self, treeview, context, x, y, selection, info, time): treeselection = tv.get_selection() model, my_iter = treeselection.get_selected() path = model.get_path(my_iter) result = Gtk.TreeDragSource.drag_data_get(path, selection) def drag_data_received(self, tv, context, x, y, selection, info, time): result, model, row = Gtk.tree_get_row_drag_data(selection) my_iter = model.get_iter(row) data = [model.get_value(my_iter, i) for i in range(model.get_n_columns())] drop_info = tv.get_dest_row_at_pos(x, y) if drop_info: path, position = drop_info my_iter = model.get_iter(path) if (position == Gtk.TreeViewDropPosition.BEFORE or position == Gtk.TreeViewDropPosition.INTO_OR_BEFORE): model.insert_before(my_iter, [data]) else: model.insert_after(my_iter, [data]) else: model.append([data]) if context.get_actions() == Gdk.DragAction.MOVE|Gdk.DragAction.DEFAULT: context.finish(True, True, time) return This fails spectacularly - when Python hits the call to Gtk.TreeDragSource.drag_data_get(), Python crashes and my program window swiftly disappears. I don't even get to the drag_data_received handler. Can anyone point me to some example code showing how these methods using the TreeDragSource and TreeDragDest interfaces work? Any help much appreciated!

  • How To Remove People and Objects From Photographs In Photoshop

    - by Eric Z Goodnight
    You might think that it’s a complicated process to remove objects from photographs. But really Photoshop makes it quite simple, even when removing all traces of a person from digital photographs. Read on to see just how easy it is. Photoshop was originally created to be an image editing program, and it excels at it. With hardly any Photoshop experience, any beginner can begin removing objects or people from their photos. Have some friends that photobombed an otherwise great pic? Tell them to say their farewells, because here’s how to get rid of them with Photoshop! Tools for Removing Objects Removing an object is not really “magical” work. Your goal is basically to cover up the information you don’t want in an image with information you do want. In this sample image, we want to remove the cigar smoking man, and leave the geisha. Here’s a couple of the tools that can be useful to work with when attempting this kind of task. Clone Stamp and Pattern Stamp Tool: Samples parts of your image from your background, and allows you to paint into your image with your mouse or stylus. Eraser and Brush Tools: Paint flat colors and shapes, and erase cloned layers of image information. Basic, down and dirty photo editing tools. Pen, Quick Selection, Lasso, and Crop tools: Select, isolate, and remove parts of your image with these selection tools. All useful in their own way. Some, like the pen tool, are nightmarishly tough on beginners. Remove a Person with the Clone Stamp Tool (Video) The video above uses the Clone Stamp tool to sample and paint with the background texture. It’s a simple tool to use, although it can be confusing, possibly counter-intuitive. Here’s some pointers, in addition to the video above. Select shortcut key to choose the Clone tool stamp from the Tools Panel. Always create a copy of your background layer before doing heavy edits by right clicking on the background in your Layers Panel and selecting “Duplicate.” Hold with the Clone Tool selected, and click anywhere in your image to sample that area. When you’re sampling an area, your cursor is “Aligned” with your sample area. When you paint, your sample area moves. You can turn the “Aligned” setting off by clicking the in the Options Panel at the top of your screen if you want. Change your brush size and hardness as shown in the video by right-clicking in your image. Use your lasso to copy and paste pieces of your image in order to cover up any parts that seem appropriate. Photoshop Magic with the “Content-Aware Fill” One of the hallmark features of CS5 is the “Content-Aware Fill.” Content aware fill can be an excellent shortcut to removing objects and even people in Photoshop, but it is somewhat limited, and can get confused. Here’s a basic rundown on how it works. Select an object using your Lasso tool, shortcut key . The Lasso works fine as this selection can be rough. Navigate to Edit > Fill, and select “Content-Aware,” as illustrated above, from the pull-down menu. It’s surprisingly simple. After some processing, Photoshop has done the work of removing the object for you. It takes a few moments, and it is not perfect, so be prepared to touch it up with some Copy-Paste, or some Clone stamp action. Content Aware Fill Has Its Limits Keep in mind that the Content Aware Fill is meant to be used with other techniques in mind. It doesn’t always perform perfectly, but can give you a great starting point. Take this image for instance. It is actually plausible to hide this figure and make this image look like he was never there at all. With a selection made with the Lasso tool, navigate to Edit > Fill and select “Content Aware” again. The result is surprisingly good, but as you can see, worthy of some touch up. With a result like this one, you’ll have to get your hands dirty with copy-paste to create believable lines in the background. With many photographs, Content Aware Fill will simply get confused and give you results you won’t be happy with. Additional Touch Up for Bad Background Textures with the Pattern Stamp Tool For the perfectionist, cleaning up the lumpy looking textures that the Clone Stamp can leave is fairly simple using the Pattern Stamp Tool. Sample an piece of your image with your Marquee Tool, shortcut key . Navigate to Edit > Define Pattern to create a new Pattern from your selection. Click OK to continue. Click and hold down on the Clone Stamp tool in your Tools Panel until you can select the Pattern Stamp Tool. Pick your new pattern from the Options at the top of your screen, in the Options Panel. Then simply right click in your image in order to pick as soft a brush as possible to paint with. Paint into your image until your background is as smooth as you want it to be, making your painted out object more and more invisible. If you get lines from your repeated texture, experiment turning the on and off and paint over them. In addition to this, simple use of the Crop Tool, shortcut , can recompose an image, making it look as if it never had another object in it at all. Combine these techniques to find a method that works best for your images. Have questions or comments concerning Graphics, Photos, Filetypes, or Photoshop? • PropertyGrid PaintValue problem: How to remove (and paint outside) the standard rectangle?

    - by Pedery
    This might be a straightforward question, even though I haven't found an easy solution to it: I've implemented my custom UITypeEditor with the sole purpose of adding a PaintValue to bools. For the sake of the discussion, let's assume that PaintValue will either paint a checked or unchecked radiobutton. Question 1: Now, here's the problem: It seems like PaintValue automatically inserts a 20x13px rectangle after all paint code has completed. Naturally, a radiobutton inside a black rectangle is ugly. Can I easily instruct or override this rectagle not to be painted? Question 2: In this respect, is it possible to paint on top of the propertygrid's native look - meaning could I paint something in order to obscure (part of) the black line separating two grid cells vertically? The purpose of doing this would be to indicate that two values were linked, like constrained width/height to an aspect ratio.

  • WPF TreeView drag and drop using preview

    - by imekon
    I'm handling drag and drop events in a TreeView using PreviewMouseDown, PreviewMouseMove and PreviewMouseUp, however, there is an issue. In my PreviewMouseDown handler, I set everything ready in case there's a drag started (detected in the Move event), however I set e.Handled = true. This means that standard selection events don't get generated on my tree! What I want to be able to do in my Up event is to invoke the standard treeview selection changed event - except I cannot call events outside of the tree. So what's the correct way to do this? I have tried using the standard MouseDown, MouseMove and MouseUp events however there's an issue with messing up my multiple selection feature that means I need to use the Preview version of those events.

  • What's the convention for extending Linq with set based helper operations

    - by Luke Rohde
    Hi All I might be vaguing out here but I'm looking for a nice place to put set based helper operations in linq so I can do things like; db.Selections.ClearTemporary() which does something like db.DeleteAllOnSubmit(db.Selections.Where(s => s.Temporary)) Since I can figure out how to extend Table<Selection> the best I can do is create a static method in partial class of Selection (similar to Ruby) but I have to pass in the datacontext like; Selection.ClearTemporary(MyDataContext) This kind of sucks because I have two conventions for doing set based operations and I have to pass the data context to the static class. I've seen other people recommending piling helper methods into a partial of the datacontext like; myDataContext.ClearTemporarySelections(); But I feel this makes the dc a dumping ground for in-cohesive operations. Surely I'm missing something. I hope so. What's the convention? TIA

  • Chnaging Displayed Image on a Webpage Using Javascript

    - by Gavin
    Hi all, I'm having some trouble changing an image being displayed on a page by way of a dropdown menu selection. This works fine.. getting the dropdown menu to give me an alert when I make a selection. Even though the menu is embedded within a division, paragraph, and label tag, it still works. "availableImages" is the name of my menu. function imageSelect() { var index = document.getElementById("myForm").availableImages.selectedIndex; var value = document.getElementById("myForm").availableImages.options[index].value; alert("test " + value); // alert box pops up upon list item selection } However, within the same division, I am having an issue with changing the source of my image tag... Any ideas? I will provide more code if it will be helpful. Thanks! Gavin

  • getting all contacts (including from other syncAdapters) in android content handler.

    - by eyal
    Hi i have this Query: private Cursor getContacts(CharSequence constraint) { boolean hasConstrains = constraint != null && constraint.length() != 0; Uri uri = ContactsContract.Contacts.CONTENT_URI; String[] projection = new String[]{ContactsContract.Contacts._ID, ContactsContract.Contacts.DISPLAY_NAME }; String selection = hasConstrains ? projection[1] + " LIKE '"+constraint+"%'" : null; String[] selectionArgs = null; String sortOrder = ContactsContract.Contacts.DISPLAY_NAME + " ASC"; return managedQuery(uri, projection, selection, selectionArgs, sortOrder); } The first time issue it i give null as parameter to the function to the selection parameter is empty, meaning i don't filter any rows. The problem is i get only contacts i created myself using no syncAdapter. I used facebook app to synch my facebook contacts, but this query doesn't return them. I extracted the contacts2.db from the emulator and the view_contacts view shows me all the contacts, so the DB is updated. What should i do to get all the contacts regardless of how they were created (with which synch adapter)

  • How do you use selected vertical blocks in Visual Studio 2008 and 2010?

    - by jamesmoorecode
    I get that you can select a vertical block in Visual Studio 2008 (alt-drag), but I don't understand how you use it once it's selected. How do you: Move the selection point inside the block and have the text you're typing get inserted on every line simultaneously? Move the block one space to the right/left Or can you just copy/delete the selection? I assumed when I saw the ability to select that it was something like TextMate's vertical blocks, but maybe it's just not as advanced as that. New behavior (as of VS2010 RC - added 13 Feb 2010): You can now type in the selection and have the same thing show up on every line. Tab moves the selected block

  • HTML/Javascript change div content

    - by Rob
    HI, I have simple HTML code with some javascript, it looks like: <html> <head><script type="text/javascript">...</script></head> <body> <input type="radio" name="radiobutton" value="A" onClick="changeDivContent()"> <input type="radio" name="radiobutton" value="B" onClick="changeDivContent()"> <div id="content"></div> </body> </html> I just wanted to be able change div's content (it's inner html) with selecting one of "A" or "B" radio buttons, but div#content does not have javascript attribute "value", so I am asking how it can be done. Thank you!

  • Creating a column of RadioButtons in Adobe Flex

    - by adnan
    I am having an un-predictable behavior of creating radio buttons in advancedDataGrid column using itemRenderer. Similar kind of problem has been reported at http://stackoverflow.com/questions/112036/creating-a-column-of-radiobuttons-in-adobe-flex. I tried to use the same procedure i.e. bind every radio button selectedValue and value attributes with the property specified in the property of the associated bean but still facing the problem. The button change values! The selected button becomes deselected, and unselected ones become selected. Here is the code of my advancedDataGrid: <mx:AdvancedDataGrid id="adDataGrid_rptdata" width="100%" height="100%" dragEnabled="false" sortableColumns="false" treeColumn="{action}" liveScrolling="false" displayItemsExpanded="true" > <mx:dataProvider> <mx:HierarchicalData source="{this.competenceCollection}" childrenField="competenceCriteria"/> </mx:dataProvider> <mx:columns> <mx:AdvancedDataGridColumn headerText="" id="action" dataField="criteriaName" /> <mx:AdvancedDataGridColumn headerText="Periode 1" dataField="" width="200"> <mx:itemRenderer> <mx:Component> <mx:HBox horizontalAlign="center" width="100%" verticalAlign="middle"> <mx:RadioButton name="period1" value="{data}" selected="{data.period1}" group="{data.radioBtnGrpArray[0]}" visible="{data.showRadioButton}" /> </mx:HBox> </mx:Component> </mx:itemRenderer> </mx:AdvancedDataGridColumn> <mx:AdvancedDataGridColumn headerText="Periode 2" dataField="" width="200"> <mx:itemRenderer> <mx:Component> <mx:HBox horizontalAlign="center" width="100%" verticalAlign="middle"> <mx:RadioButton name="period2" value="{data}" selected="{data.period2}" group="{data.radioBtnGrpArray[1]}" visible="{data.showRadioButton}" /> </mx:HBox> </mx:Component> </mx:itemRenderer> </mx:AdvancedDataGridColumn> <mx:AdvancedDataGridColumn headerText="Periode 3" dataField="" width="200"> <mx:itemRenderer> <mx:Component> <mx:HBox horizontalAlign="center" width="100%" verticalAlign="middle"> <mx:RadioButton name="period3" value="{data}" selected="{data.period3}" group="{data.radioBtnGrpArray[2]}" visible="{data.showRadioButton}" /> </mx:HBox> </mx:Component> </mx:itemRenderer> </mx:AdvancedDataGridColumn> </mx:columns> </mx:AdvancedDataGrid> Any work around is highly appreciated in this regard!

  • Layout Question - OnItemClickListener not working now

    - by user244190
    Ok, after figuring out the earlier question 'Layout Question', now my OnItemClickListener, and ItemLongClickListener(ContextMenu) have stopped working. With just the TextView it works fine xml: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <RelativeLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content"> <TextView android:id="@+id/txtVehName" android:hint="@string/VEH_NAME" android:textSize="18dp" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_marginTop="10dip" android:layout_alignParentBottom="true" > </TextView> <RadioButton android:id="@+id/rbDefault" android:text="" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_alignParentRight="true" android:layout_alignParentBottom="true" > </RadioButton> </RelativeLayout> Anyone have any ideas as to why this would stop working? thanks

  • how to stop onChange in javascript

    - by shrimpy
    in one of my selection box, i have a onChange="..." specified... coz i want to change some other form value after any selection changes. however ... in the same page, some wired case i have to manually set the value.. so i have to use some javascript to set the value of the selection combox, but in this case, i don`t want that onChange event to be fired... how can i walk around it??? Forgot to mention that i am actually using dijit.form.comboBox. for normal HTML form comboBox, it won`t cause any issue. Only i use the dijit comboBox, and i try to set the value to some other value, dojo will trigger the onChange.

  • Javascript functions return lines of function code or "{[native code]}," what am I doing wrong?

    - by DavidR
    I am writing some code to find the user selection in a contenteditable div, I'm taking my code from this quirksmode article. function findSelection(){ var userSelection; if (window.getSelection) {userSelection = window.getSelection;} else if (document.selection){userSelection = document.selection.createRange();} // For microsoft if (userSelection.text){return userSelection.text} //for Microsoft else {return userSelection} } I'm testing it in Chrome and Firefox, if I do an alert(userSelection) within the function or an alert(findSelection();) outside the function, it returns function getSelection() {[native code]}. If I do console.log(findSelection();) it gives me getSelection(). Is there something I've done wrong?
