• Remote access to phpmyadmin from computer belongs to same LAN

  OK... I solved it. It is because I have not configured the httpd.conf to allow the centos listen port 80 and 8080. Listen 80 Listen 8080 I have setup the myphpadmin on my CentOS 6.4 recently. I can access and login to the myphpadmin on my localhost. However, when I type http://[hostipaddr]/phpmyadmin on my other computer in the same LAN with the CentOS, the browser simply cannot access the page. Below are some of the current configuration. • Alternative to Microsoft Remote Desktop Connection for Mac?

  When working from Windows, I prefer to use RoyalTS instead of the default Microsoft RDP client, because it allows me to save multiple connections, the credentials of the connection, etc; as well has having more than 1 connection open at a time. Is there a similar (or any) alternative to the Microsoft RDP client for connecting from OSX to Windows? Aside from VNC, that is; at this point I'm hoping to continue using the RDP protocol.

  Is there a way to connect remotely to another user while there is a user still on the same PC. So one PC with users and both of them logged in at the same time, one locally and one remotely? Sorry i didn't explain my question very well, I don't mean 2 users viewing the same screen. I mean 2 user accounts. Say UserA is sitting at the desk on his account. and then UserB is on his account account but it remotely connecting to it. So they both have different desktops in front on their respective screens.

  I have 20 PCs (Windows XP) in remote locations connecting to the same server (Windows Server 2003) using Remote Desktop over a VPN. On just one of the PCs the remote desktop screen flashes (redraws) multiple times after connecting, the others don't. The screen resolution is the same: local is 800x600 32bit; RDP file is set to full screen, 256 color; remote when connected is 800x600 8bit color. Any suggestions what the problem might be, or what to investigate next?

  I am a programmer using Linux as my main OS, however sometimes I need to use windows (ie, office, ea). I'm running qemu with kvm to access the windows "machine". I would like to achieve something that is described here: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/SeamlessVirtualization (It means I would be able to run chosen applications on Windows and then display them locally on Linux as separate windows achieving good desktop integration). However seamless rdp is buggy and doesn't work on my machine (probably because I'm using a tiling window manager and a 64bit system). Are you aware of any other solution then rdp seamless mode? I would prefer to still use quemu because it uses cpu hardware virtualization, so different protocol/client combination would be preferable.

• I can't connect to mysql on a remote server

  I'm trying to connect from an Ubuntu server to a RHEL6 server using mysql. I've tried telneting into the server as well as trying to connect with mysql. I've tried commenting out the bind-address but didn't have any success with that either. I don't get an error code or anything with telnet. It just fails after a minute or so. With mysql, I get this error code ERROR 2003 (HY000): Can't connect to MySQL server on 'SERVER_IP' (111). "SERVER_IP" is of course a placeholder where actual error gives that actual IP.   I'll try to be as specific as I can be: Server is running SBS 2008 R2 (with all updates) Server is connected to the internet Server has 2 NIC's, one is disabled Server is running RDP Service (accessible directly from the internet, I know, not as secure as it should be) Computers A and B are on the same local net. Computers A and B are both Windows 7. Users X and Y are both admins on the server Computer A can connect as user X to the server with mstsc Computer A can connect as user Y to the server with mstsc Computer B can connect as user X to the server with mstsc computer B CANNOT connect as user Y to the server with mstsc! The last point is the problem, I get an authentication error. This used to work flawlessly for the last year. The server and desktops have been rebooted. I find it very strange....

  Hello, I have a Dell server wired into the router. I was able to connect to it with my laptop (laptop is wireless) before my router died. My verizon router went kaput, and I got everything else back up and running on the wireless network other than the remoting in feature, even though I can access the server through windows explorer just fine. Any ideas why? What do I need to check? UPDATE: Interesting scenario, Network Discovery is off; I turn it on and save, but for some reason, even after that, network discovery is turning itself off... no idea why that is happening? Thanks.

The Audit will need to discover Hardware and software details of all machines attached to the network (including Printers) I do not want to have to install this application on each workstation.   Hi there, I have a UPS connected via the serial port to a server using PowerChute Business Edition. If a power outage occurs I would like this server to start shutting down all other servers within the network. Is there dedicated software to do this? I was thinking of creating a command file which runs a .bat file to run shut down commands to each server (using PSExec). I can set PowerChute to run this command file when a power failure occurs.   I would like to buy a new Eee PC 1001HA or 1101HA. I know the max display resolution is: 1024x600 for eeePC 1001 1366x768 for eeePC 1101 But what's the maximum resolution of the graphic board when connecting these two computers to an external LCD monitor? Let's say the external monitor supports a full HD resolution of 1920x1080. Are these eeePC graphic boards able to go up to such resolution? It's really incredible to me how such a useful piece of information is missing everywhere on every ASUS website. EeePCs are very well suited to be connected to external monitor, so I can't believe how difficult is to find out this information. I downloaded the manual, but it's not in there either. So I'm hoping somone has got one and knows the answer.

• How to calibrate a HDTV that is being used as monitor?

  I have a HDTV I am using as a second monitor. The first monitor, is a real computer monitor, not a TV and has a fantastic image. The second one, the HDTV has a good image, but it is a little bit blurred and has the problem you can see on the picture below, a kind of red halo around the edges. I think it has something to do with red contrast. Other colors show this problem too, specially the green. The problem is that the TV has no contrast adjustment. Instead it has something called IRE 10 points and IRE 2 points. Taking IRE 10 for example, it has 4 controls for each of the 10 points: luminosity, R, G and B. I could not find a page where I can understand what this IRE is and how should I adjust this. Can someone tell me how should I proceed to calibrate this TV for best picture? thanks for any help.

• Why are applications slowing down on the computer's second monitor?

  Here's an interesting one. Problem I have a user on Windows XP who is running a web application inside IE8. She has two monitors plugged in via DVI cables. When she is working the the browser on her primary monitor, everything is fine, but when she drags the window over to the second monitor, the web applications functionality grinds to a halt. It's not just web apps either - many applications exhibit the problem. What I've tried Switching the two monitors in the OS. It's obviously not the monitor's fault. Confirmed that it's the app slowing down, and not the graphical rendering. The application in question actually locks up. The mouse is unaffected, and I can drag other windows on top of the problematic application. Any ideas?

• Where can I find a good, tab-less privacy filter for my monitor?

  Hi, I have an ASUS laptop with a 14" monitor (12" by 7" to be more specific), and I've been looking for a decent privacy filter that I can use with for, yet I couldn't find any. The problem with the filters I've found is that they all use those ugly "tabs" that you have to stick on the sides of your monitor in order to slip the filter in. I'm looking for ones that are like HP privacy filter, where parts of it goes under the frame of the monitor to hold it in place. Too bad HP doesn't sell filters that fit my screen. So, any idea where I can get a good privacy filter? Your help is so much appreciated
