• Effects of changing a node in a binary tree

  Suppose I want to change the orange node in the following tree. So, the only other change I'll need to make is in the left pointer of the green node. The blue node will remain the same. Am I wrong somewhere? Because according to this article (that explains zippers), even the blue node needs to be changed. Similarly, in this picture (recolored) from the same article, why do we change the orange nodes at all (when we change x)?

  I'm extracting XML node from an XElement. When I use XElement.Value it strips any HTML that may be in the node. I know that if I do XElement.ToString() I can keep the HTML, but it also gives me the node tags. Is there any way to extract the content of a Node as is without the HTML being stripped out? Cheers.

• How do I improve my performance with this singly linked list struct within my program?

  Hey guys, I have a program that does operations of sets of strings. We have to implement functions such as addition and subtraction of two sets of strings. We are suppose to get it down to the point where performance if of O(N+M), where N,M are sets of strings. Right now, I believe my performance is at O(N*M), since I for each element of N, I go through every element of M. I'm particularly focused on getting the subtraction to the proper performance, as if I can get that down to proper performance, I believe I can carry that knowledge over to the rest of things I have to implement. The '-' operator is suppose to work like this, for example. Declare set1 to be an empty set. Declare set2 to be a set with { a b c } elements Declare set3 to be a set with ( b c d } elements set1 = set2 - set3 And now set1 is suppose to equal { a }. So basically, just remove any element from set3, that is also in set2. For the addition implementation (overloaded '+' operator), I also do the sorting of the strings (since we have to). All the functions work right now btw. So I was wondering if anyone could a) Confirm that currently I'm doing O(N*M) performance b) Give me some ideas/implementations on how to improve the performance to O(N+M) Note: I cannot add any member variables or functions to the class strSet or to the node structure. • HAProxy + NodeJS gets stuck on TCP Retransmission

  I have a HAProxy + NodeJS + Rails Setup, I use the NodeJS Server for file upload purposes. The problem I'm facing is that if I'm uploading through haproxy to nodejs and a "TCP (Fast) Retransmission" occurs because of a lost packet the TX rate on the client drops to zero for about 5-10 secs and gets flooded with TCP Retransmissions. This does not occur if I upload to NodeJS directly (TCP Retransmission happens too but it doesn't get stuck with dozens of retransmission attempts). My test setup is a simple HTML4 FORM (method POST) with a single file input field. The NodeJS Server only reads the incoming data and does nothing else. I've tested this on multiple machines, networks, browsers, always the same issue. Here's a TCP Traffic Dump from the client while uploading a file: ..... • Is it possible to run the Android emulator as root from NetBeans on the Mac

  I have installed NetBeans 6.8 on my MacOS (Leopard) system and use the Kenai plugin for this platform to create an Android application. The trouble is that I cannot run the Android emulator from NetBeans logged in to the Mac as a normal user. I can run the emulator from the command line and the Eclipse environment when logged in as root. When I try to run NetBeans as root, it displays a message indicating many of components of the Android plugin cannot be loaded because the root user somehow links to Java 1.5 and the plugin needs Java 1.6. There are 3 solutions to this problem as far as I can see: Make the root user environment link to Java 1.6 and use NetBeans as root. Coerce NetBeans to su to root before running the Emulator. Stick to using Eclipse for Android development. If anyone knows how how to do 1 or 2 I would appreciate getting advice from you. Thanks in advance.

• VirtualBox Clone Root HD / Ubuntu / Network issue

  When you clone a root Ubuntu disk in VirtualBox, one thing that gets messed up is the network card definition.  This is because Ubuntu (as it should) uses UDEV IDs for the network device.  When you boot your new disk, the network device ID has changed, so it creates a new eth1 device.  Unfortunately, this conflicts with the VirtualBox network setup.  What to do? • How to configure nginx so it works with Express?

  I'm trying to configure nginx so it proxy_pass requests to my node apps. Question on StackOverflow got many upvotes: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/5009324/node-js-nginx-and-now and I'm using config from there. (but since question is about server configuration it is supposed to be on ServerFault) Here is the nginx configuration: server { listen 80; listen [::]:80; root /var/www/services.stefanow.net/public_html; index index.html index.htm; server_name services.stefanow.net; location / { try_files $uri $uri/ =404; } location /test-express { proxy_pass http://127.0.0.1:3002; } location /test-http { proxy_pass http://127.0.0.1:3003; } } Using plain node: var http = require('http'); http.createServer(function (req, res) { res.writeHead(200, {'Content-Type': 'text/plain'}); res.end('Hello World\n'); }).listen(3003, '127.0.0.1'); console.log('Server running at http://127.0.0.1:3003/'); It works! Redirecting to /index.html root@stefanow:~# curl localhost:3002/index.html blah blah index.html I tried setting headers as described here: http://www.nginxtips.com/how-to-setup-nginx-as-proxy-for-nodejs/ (still doesn't work) proxy_set_header X-Real-IP $remote_addr; proxy_set_header X-Forwarded-For $proxy_add_x_forwarded_for; proxy_set_header Host $http_host; proxy_set_header X-NginX-Proxy true; I also tried replacing '127.0.0.1' with 'localhost' and vice versa Please advise. I'm pretty sure I miss some obvious detail and I would like to learn more. Thank you.

• Weird vps server issue

  I have an unmanaged linux vps Ubuntu 11.10 (Oneiric Ocelot). I have LNMP installed. Also php-fpm php-apc, varnish, memcache. I have (or rather had) several live sites on it. under normal load the server uses ~700 mb memory. But since last night its using only 20mb~ memory and a lot of the services seems to be down (according to htop) I only see nginx working and mysql starts up and goes does every few minutes on a loop. • Using position function for accessing particular node when using While Activity in SOA 11.1.1.5

  Hi If you are using while activity in SOA Suite 11.1.1.5 and within loop you have a requirement to access repeating node of XML. You might need to use below XPATH expression for accessing the node. Here is the XML that I am using for this example <?xml version='1.0' encoding='UTF-8'?> David DemoJob 1 2012-04-15 40000 0 10 Steve TestJob 1 2012-04-15 40000 0 10 Here you can notice that Emp node is repeating i.e. EmpCollection node will contain multiple employees. Now in loop one of assign activity you need to access a particular node for e.g. For first time loop runs you want to access first node and second time second node and so on. You need to make use of postion() function like bpws:getVariableData('Receive1_Read_InputVariable','body','/ns4:EmpCollection/ns4:Emp[position()=$loopCounter]/ns4:job') Please Note: Here loopCounter is a variable that we have created of type xsd:int and prior to loop we have initialized a value of 1. Loop will run depending on the number of Emp nodes present at runtime. For that in while Activity you can use below XPATH expression ora:countNodes('Receive1_Read_InputVariable','body','/ns4:EmpCollection/ns4:Emp')=bpws:getVariableData('loopCounter') Do let me know in case of any issues or concern.   Given a directed graph, the goal is to combine the node with the nodes it is pointing to and come up with minimum number of these [lets give the name] super nodes. The catch is once you combine the nodes you can't use those nodes again. [first node as well as all the combined nodes - that is all the members of one super node] The greedy approach would be to pick the node with maximum out degree and combine that node with nodes it is pointing to and remove all of them. Do this every time with the nodes which are not removed yet from graph. The greedy is O(V), but this won't necessarily output minimum number super nodes. So what is the best algorithm to do this?

  Hi, My understanding of basic BFS traversal for a graph is: BFS { Start from any node . Add it to que. Add it to visited array While(que is not empty) { remove head from queue. Print node; add all unvisited direct subchilds to que; mark them as visited } } However, if we have to traverse a DIRECTED graph from a given node and not all nodes are accessible from the given node [directly or indirectly] how do we use BFS for the same. Can you please explain in this graph as well: a= b = d = e = d a= c = d Here if the starting node is b , we never print a and c. Am I missing something in the algorithm. P.S: I used "HashMap adj = new HashMap();" to create the adjacencey list to store graph Any pointers are greatly appreciated. Thanks.

• Drupal - Views + node preview woes

  Hey there! I have a few Views on my Drupal 6 site which take care of some of a node's fields. For example, I have a content type called Country, which has a field called Capital. I've excluded this field in the node display, but there is a view that takes the node ID as an argument and displays it in the right column. This is all very pretty and has been working out well for me, but how do I take care of the node preview mode? Since the node isn't saved yet, the Capital field won't have its new value yet. Note: I am ready to do some very dirty hacks to make this work :)

• Hide header if node body is empty - Drupal php snippet help

  Hello! I've made a content type for links, I'm trying to make a link directory. People only have to submit the link, description is voluntary. If no description is entered, I want the header that says "description" to disappear. The description field is the node body. Right now my snippet looks like this <?php if (!empty($node->body)) {?> <div class="field field-type-link field-field-link-archive"> <h3>Description</h3> <?php print $node->content['body']['#value'] ?></div> <?php }?> I expect this to check if node body is not empty, and if it isn't it'll print what's there. The problem is that the Description header is still printed out even if the node body is empty. Can anyone see what's wrong?

One action, for example createChildNode creates child node, which in turn creates MyObject2. MyObject2 must be created with assistance of MyOject1, which was created in parent node(that one where I right click for actions ). How to get that object from selected node? That objects in nodes are putted to lookups.singleton(MyObjectX)

• Windows 2008R2 two node failover cluster creation fails

  We have just installed two Windows 2008R2 Enterprise machines with identical hardware. When running the cluster validation everything is ok. When creating the cluster it fails with the following error: An error occurred while creating the cluster. An error occurred creating cluster 'CLUSTER04'. The parameter is incorrect The logfile on the first node where we are running our config from, does not show any errors. On the second node we get: The Cluster service is shutting down because quorum was lost. This could be due to the loss of network connectivity between some or all nodes in the cluster, or a failover of the witness disk. I've double checked and all communication between the servers are fine. Even when creating a one node cluster it gives the error. There are other failover clusters we have setup without any issues.
