  • Repeatedly execute a stored procedure

    - by manivineet
I have a situation where I need to repeatedly execute a stored procedure Now this procedure (spMAIN) has a cursor inside which looks for a value from a table as T1,which has the following structure ID Status ---- -------- 1 New 2 New 3 success 4 Error now the cursor looks for all rows with a status of 'New' Now while processing , if that instance of the cursor encounters an error, another SP say spError needs to be called, the 'Status' column in T1 needs to be updated to 'Error' and spMAIN needs to be called again which again repeats the process, looking for rows with 'new' how do I do it? Also, also, while we are at it, what if an SP has other SPs inside it and if any of those SP raises an error, same thing needs to be done, the T1 table needs to be updated ('Error') and spMAIN needs to be called again. can you also recommend something ? here's some code ALTER PROC zzSpMain AS BEGIN DECLARE @id INT BEGIN TRY IF EXISTS ( SELECT * FROM dbo.zzTest WHERE istatus = 'new' ) BEGIN DECLARE c CURSOR FOR SELECT id FROM zztest WHERE istatus = 'new' OPEN c FETCH NEXT FROM c INTO @id WHILE @@FETCH_STATUS = 0 BEGIN PRINT @id IF @id = 2 BEGIN UPDATE zztest SET istatus = 'error' WHERE id = @id RAISERROR ( 'Error occured', 16, 1 ) END UPDATE zztest SET istatus = 'processed' WHERE id = @id FETCH NEXT FROM c INTO @id END CLOSE c DEALLOCATE c END END TRY begin CATCH EXEC zzSpError END CATCH END

  • Pass Parameter to LinqDataSource "OnSelecting" for Stored Procedure

    - by rockinthesixstring
    I'm building a semi-elaborate RadGrid where within my NestedViewTemplate I want to have a LinqDataSource that uses a Stored Procedure to get data from the database. Here's what I have so far <asp:HiddenField runat="server" ID="HiddenID" Value='<%#DataBinder.Eval(Container.DataItem, "ID")%>' /> <asp:LinqDataSource ID="LinqDataSource1" runat="server" OnSelecting="LinqDataSource_Selecting"> <WhereParameters> <asp:ControlParameter ControlID="HiddenID" PropertyName="ID" Type="String" Name="ID" /> </WhereParameters> </asp:LinqDataSource> any my Code Behind... Protected Sub LinqDataSource_Selecting(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As LinqDataSourceSelectEventArgs) Dim hdc As New DAL.HealthMonitorDataContext() e.Result = hdc.bt_HealthMonitor_GetByID(Integer.Parse(e.WhereParameters("ID"))) End Sub but unfortunately hdc.bt_HealthMonitor_GetByID(Integer.Parse(e.WhereParameters("ID"))) isn't playing nice... Exception Details: System.FormatException: Input string was not in a correct format.

  • CONVERT(int, (datepart(month, @search)), (datepart(day, @search)), DateAdd(year, Years.Year - (datepart(year, @search)))

    - by MyHeadHurts
In the query the top part is getting all the years that will run in the stored procedure. Works fine But at first i just wanted to run the queries for yesterdays date for all the years, but now i realized i want the user to select a date that will be in a parameter @search Booked <= CONVERT(int,DateAdd(year, Years.Year - Year(getdate()), DateAdd(day, DateDiff(day, 2, getdate()), 1))) this should be easy because normally it would just be Booked <= CONVERT(int,@search) but the problem is i want to do something like a Booked <= CONVERT(int, (datepart(month, @search)), (datepart(day, @search)), DateAdd(year, Years.Year - (datepart(year, @search))) would something like that work i dont need to worry about subtracting days but i still need to worry about the years WITH Years AS ( SELECT DATEPART(year, GETDATE()) [Year] UNION ALL SELECT [Year]-1 FROM Years WHERE [Year]>@YearToGet ), q_00 as ( select DIVISION , DYYYY , sum(PARTY) as asofPAX , sum(APRICE) as asofSales from dbo.B101BookingsDetails INNER JOIN Years ON B101BookingsDetails.DYYYY = Years.Year where Booked <= CONVERT(int,DateAdd(year, Years.Year - Year(getdate()), DateAdd(day, DateDiff(day, 2, getdate()), 1))) and DYYYY = Years.Year group by DIVISION, DYYYY, years.year having DYYYY = years.year ),

  • How to create a UDF that takes a query string and returns the query's resultset

    - by Martin
I want to create a stored procedure that takes a simple SELECT statement and return the resultset as a CSV string. So the basic idea is get the sql statement from user input, run it using EXEC(@stmt) and convert the resultset to text using cursors. However, as SQLServer doesn't allow: select * from storedprocedure(@sqlStmt) UDF with EXEC(@sqlStmt) so I tried Insert into #tempTable EXEC(@sqlStmt), but this doesn't work (error = "invalid object name #tempTable"). I'm stuck. Could you please shed some light on this matter? Many thanks EDIT: Actually the output (e.g CSV string) is not important. The problem is I don't know how to assign a cursor to the resultset returned by EXEC. SP and UDF do not work with Exec() while creating a temp table before inserting values is impossible without knowing the input statement. I thought of OPENQUERY but it does not accept variables as its parameters.

  • NHibernate handling mutliple resultsets from a sp call

    - by Michael Baldry
I'm using a stored procedure to handle search on my site, it includes full text searching, relevance and paging. I also wanted it to return the total number of results that would have been returned, had paging not being there. So I've now got my SP returning 2 select statements, the search and just SELECT @totalResults. Is there any way I can get NHibernate to handle this? I'm currently accessing the ISession's connection, creating a command and executing the SP myself, and mapping the results. This isn't ideal, so I'm hoping I can get NH to handle this for me. Or if anyone has any other better ways of creating complicated searches etc with NH, I'd really like to hear it.

  • How to execute T-SQL for several databases which names are stored on a table

    - by emzero
Hey guys, so here's the deal. I have several databases (SqlServer 2005) on the same server with the same schema but different data. I have one extra database which has one table storing the names of the mentioned databases. So what I need to do is to iterate over those databases name and actually "switch" to each one (use [dbname]) and execute a T-SQL script. Am I clear? Let me give you an example (simplified from the real one): CREATE TABLE DatabaseNames ( Id int, Name varchar(50) ) INSERT INTO DatabaseNames SELECT 'DatabaseA' INSERT INTO DatabaseNames SELECT 'DatabaseB' INSERT INTO DatabaseNames SELECT 'DatabaseC' Assume that DatabaseA, DatabaseB and DatabaseC are real existing databases. So let's say I need to create a new SP on those DBs. I need some script that loops over those databases and executes the T-SQL script I specify (maybe stored on a varchar variable or wherever). Any ideas? Thanks!

  • Can't access stored procedure from entities

    - by molgan
Hello I'm using entity framework that came with 3.5sp1. And in visual studio I have imported function so it shows under "Function Imports" in the "Model Browser". I have assigned all rights to the user that connects to the database. But it doesnt show in the intellisense when I type "_entities.", only my other entities shows there. I opened the designer file and couldnt find it there either..... The stored procedure should return a scalar datetime value, and not an "entity" What might be wrong here? /M

  • Debugging stored procedures, without using SSMS 2008 Debugger, or the Visual Studio debugger (output

    - by Albert
I have a SQL Server 2005 database with some Stored Procedures (SP) that I would like to debug...essentially I would just like to check variable values at certain points throughout the SP execution. I have SSMS 2008, but when I try to use the debugger, I get an error that it can't debug SQL Server 2005 databases. And I can't use the Visual Studio debugger (by stepping into the SP via Server Explorer) because Remote Debugging is blocked by our firewall, and I'm rightfully not allowed to touch the firewall. So my question is how can I check variable values at certain points in the SP execution? Is there some way to output those values somewhere, perhaps along with some text?

  • Value Comparison with a multivalued column in SQL Database Table

    - by Rishabh Ohri
Hi All, Suppose there is a table A which has a column AccessRights which is multivalued( Eg of values in it in this format STOLI,HELP,BRANCH(comma separated string) Now a stored procedure is written against this table to fetch records based on a AccessRight parameter sent to the SP. Let that parameter be @AccessRights, this is also a comma separated string which may have a value like STOLI,BRANCH,HELPLINE etc Now I want to compare individual values from the parameter @AccessRights with the column AccessRights. Current Approach is I split the Comma Separated string(@AccessRights) using a User Defined Function Split. And I get Individual values in a Table variable(Contains only one column "accessGroup"), the individual values are in a Table variable under the column name accessGroup and I use following code in the SP for comparison Where AccessRights like '%'+accessGroup+'%' Now if the user passes the parameter (HELP, OLI) instead of( HELP,STOLI) the SP will give the output. What should be done for comparison so that that subststring OLI does not give the output for STOLI

  • Sharepoint and SQL server Endpoint

    - by Usman Ahmad
I created a LinkedServer on MS SQL Server 2005 pointing to my Active Directory. Nothing too fancy. Simple LinkedServer with ReadOnlyAdmin Account assigned to CONNECTAS Property. Then I created some storedprocedures to retreive some data from the LinkedServer. Again nothing too fancy. Just a few simple LDAP Queries. Then I created a SQL Endpoint to expose these stored procedures as Web services. Using Visual Studio 2008, everything is fine and dandy. It finds the endpoint, gets the list of the methods available and runs smoothly. Cool. But the Sharpeoint Add Web Service somehow doesn't work! It finds the WSDL file no prob. Retrieves the list of functions and parameterss n all but just simply doesn't run them! Any advice or where I should start checking?

  • MySQL optimized sentence

    - by Ivan
I have a simple table where I have to extract some records. The problem is that the evaluation function is a very time-consuming stored procedure so I shouldn't to call it twice like in this sentence: SELECT *, slow_sp(row) FROM table WHERE slow_sp(row)>0 ORDER BY dist DESC LIMIT 10 First I thought in optimize like this: SELECT *, slow_sp(row) AS value FROM table WHERE value>0 ORDER BY dist DESC LIMIT 10 But it doesn't works due "value" is not processed when the WHERE clause is evaluated. Any idea to optimize this sentence? Thanks.

  • T-SQL query to check number of existences

    - by abatishchev
I have next approximate tables structure: accounts: ID INT, owner_id INT, currency_id TINYINT related to clients: ID INT and currency_types: ID TINYINT, name NVARCHAR(25) I need to write a stored procedure to check existence of accounts with specific currency and all others, i.e. client can have accounts in specific currency, some other currencies and both. I have already written this query: SELECT ISNULL(( SELECT 1 WHERE EXISTS ( SELECT 1 FROM [accounts] AS A, [currency_types] AS CT WHERE A.[owner_id] = @client -- sp param AND A.[currency_id] = CT.[ID] AND CT.[name] = N'Ruble' )), 0) AS [ruble], ISNULL(( SELECT 1 WHERE EXISTS ( SELECT A.[ID] FROM [accounts] AS A, [currency_types] AS CT WHERE A.[owner_id] = @client AND A.[currency_id] = CT.[ID] AND CT.[name] != N'Ruble' )), 0) AS [foreign] Is it possible to optimize it? I'm new to (T)SQL, so thanks in advance!

  • Is there a way to pass a custom type from C# to Oracle using System.Data.OracleClient?

    - by Frankie Simon
I was searching online for a solution to passing a string array to a stored procedure in Oracle. The "easy" but messy way was using a comma delimited string. I had found a sample based on which I created my own type of TABLE of VARCHAR2(200). I understood that I could use a constructor created "behind-the-scenes" by Oracle to give a list of values that would, in the PL/SQL, be treated as a TABLE I could iterate through. But when I got to the C# I saw that there is no way for me to create an OracleParameter object that would allow me to use this implicit constructor. All the samples I'm finding online for now are dealing with Oracle Data Adapter, none say anything about System.Data.OracleClient. Is there a way to achieve this?

  • Neo4j Performing shortest path calculations on stored data

    - by paddydub
    I would like to store the following graph data in the database, graph.makeEdge( "s", "c", "cost", (double) 7 ); graph.makeEdge( "c", "e", "cost", (double) 7 ); graph.makeEdge( "s", "a", "cost", (double) 2 ); graph.makeEdge( "a", "b", "cost", (double) 7 ); graph.makeEdge( "b", "e", "cost", (double) 2 ); Then run the Dijskra algorighm from a web servlet, to find shortest path calculations using the stored graph data. Then I will print the path to a html file from the servlet. Dijkstra<Double> dijkstra = getDijkstra( graph, 0.0, "s", "e" );

  • Lambda Expressions and Stored Procedures

    - by Jason Summers
Hi Everyone. I'm trying to mimic the LINQ Where extension method for my ADO.NET DAL methods. Bascially, my aim is to have a single method that I can call. Such as: Product p = Dal.GetProduct(x => x.ProductId == 32); Product p2 = Dal.GetProduct(x => x.ProductName.Contains("Soap")); I then want to dissect those Predicates and send the filter options to parameters in an ADO.NET Stored Procedure call. Any comments greatly appreciated.

  • Error in MySQL Workbench Forward Engineer Stored Procedures

    - by colithium
I am using MySQL Workbench (5.1.18 OSS rev 4456) to forward engineer a SQL CREATE script. For every stored procedure, the automatic process outputs something like: DELIMITER // USE DB_Name// DB_Name// DROP procedure IF EXISTS `DB_Name`.`SP_Name` // USE DB_Name// DB_Name// CREATE PROCEDURE `DB_Name`.`SP_Name` (id INT) BEGIN SELECT * FROM Table_Name WHERE Id = id; END// The two lines that are simply the database name followed by the delimiter are errors and are reported as such when running the script. As long as they are ignored, it looks like everything gets created just fine. But why would it add those lines? I am creating the database in the WAMP environment which uses MySQL 5.1.36

  • Create link on page w/ web address stored in database

    - by RememberME
This seems like it should be easy, but I can't seem to figure it out. All of my google searches lead me to linking to databases which isn't what I want to do. I'm a complete web development newb. I've roughly followed the NerdDinner tutorial in creating my web app. One of my stored fields is a web address. On the Index and Details pages, when I display the info from my record, I want the web address to be a clickable link to the website. It's currently displayed as: <%= Html.Encode(Model.Subcontract.company1.website) %>

  • Multilevel nested product categories display with asp.net and sql server?

    - by Kunal
I have a product category table with the following fields: cat_id (PK) Cat_name Cat_desc Parent_Cat_Id Now when a user wants to add a product he should be able to select multiple categories from a listbox(multiselection enabaled). But to let the user know the hierarchy of the categories, I need to display them in the following style: parent category 1 parent category 1-sub category 1 parent category 1-sub category 1-sub-sub category 1 parent category 1-sub category 1-sub-sub category 2 parent category 1-sub category 2 Parent category 2 ... I know that to achieve this I need to use recursive programming. But how can we do it via stored procedures? That would be much more efficient, right? Thanks in advance for your kind help.
