  • How do I "alt-tab" between windows using Gnome 3?

    All of the references I've found for Gnome 3 keyboard shortcuts list that alt+tab switches between applications and alt+` switches between windows (some actually say alt+~, but I think they're mistaken, and I've tried both anyway). Maybe that functionality works for Gnome 3 on Fedora or something, because no matter the key combo I try, nothing will switch between windows except for opening the alt+tab dialog and using arrow keys to navigate it (and at that point it's faster to just use a mouse..). How do I quickly switch between windows in Gnome 3?

  • C++: Check istream has non-space, non-tab, non-newline characters left without extracting chars

    I am reading a std::istream and I need to verify without extracting characters that: 1) The stream is not "empty", i.e. that trying to read a char will not result in an fail state (solved by using peek() member function and checking fail state, then setting back to original state) 2) That among the characters left there is at least one which is not a space, a tab or a newline char. The reason for this is, is that I am reading text files containing say one int per line, and sometimes there may be extra spaces / new-lines at the end of the file and this causes issues when I try get back the data from the file to a vector of int. A peek(int n) would probably do what I need but I am stuck with its implementation. I know I could just read istream like: while (myInt << myIstream) {...} //Will fail when I am at the end but the same check would fail for a number of different conditions (say I have something which is not an int on some line) and being able to differentiate between the two reading errors (unexpected thing, nothing left) would help me to write more robust code, as I could write: while (something_left(myIstream)) { myInt << myIstream; if (myStream.fail()) {...} //Horrible things happened } Thank you!

  • iPhone xcode - Activity Indicator with tab bar controller and multi table view controllers

    I've looked for a tutorial and can't seem to find one for a activity indicator in a table view nav bar. in my mainWindow.xib I have a Tab Bar Controller with 4 Tabs controllers each containing a table view. each load JSON feeds using the framework hosted at Google. In one of my View Controller I can add an activity indicator to the nav bar by using: UIActivityIndicatorView *activityIndcator = [[UIActivityIndicatorView alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(0,0,20,20)]; [activityIndcator startAnimating]; UIBarButtonItem *activityItem = [[UIBarButtonItem alloc] initWithCustomView:activityIndcator]; self.navigationItem.rightBarButtonItem = activityItem; however and can turn it off by using: self.navigationItem.rightBarButtonItem.enabled = FALSE; But if i place this in my viewDidLoad event it shows all the time. I only want it to show when I select a row in my table view. so I added it at the top of didSelectRowAtIndexPath and the stop line after I load a feed. it shows but takes a second or two and only shows for about half a second. is the an event that firers before the didSelectRowAtIndexPath event a type of loading event? if not what is the standard menthord for implementing such functionality?

  • How to change tab background on viewpagerindicator tabs?

    I am using ViewpagerIndicator library by Jake Wharton. I am using the tabs code in conjunction with the ActionBarSherlock library. Everything works fine, but I'm trying to style the background of the tabs and can't figure out how. I would like a dark action bar with dark tabs and light fragments (tab content). The base theme I am using is Theme.Sherlock.Light.DarkActionBar. I extend this style by making it the parent of a style that sets attributes for the tabs (like text color, indicator color, etc). This results in dark actionbar, light tabs, and light fragments. I can't find anything that will change the background of the tabs themselves. The only way I can change it is by changing the whole app to dark (using Theme.Sherlock).   • QTCreator 3.1 design tab not working

    I’m currently using QtCreator 3.1 and qt-everywhere-opensource-src-5.2.1 on Ubuntu 12.04 My project is correctly working, i.e., i can build it and run without any trouble. But i’ve got some problems with the design tab inside Qtcreator. First, on all qml file (even with example projects), i have an error message “Using Qt Quick code model instead of Qt Quick2 (M324) (4:1)” and i can’t use the design editor. Second, on qml files with other import than QtQuick 2.2 (for me QtQml.Models 2.1 and QtQuick.Controls 1.1), the import is underlined in red with the error message “QML module not found”. I’ve tried to edit the .pro file by adding QML2_IMPORT_PATH=/home/user/qt-everywhere-opensource-src-5.2.1/qtquickcontrols/qml/QtQuick/Controls/ (also tried with QML_IMPORT_PATH), it doesn’t work. Then, I tried to add it to my path in a terminal using “export QML_IMPORT_PATH=/home/user/qt-everywhere-opensource-src-5.2.1/qtquickcontrols/qml/QtQuick/Controls/” and this time, in the error message, i can see the added path in the error message, but it still doesn’t work. Anyone has an idea to help me ? Thx !

    This issue is similar to the one discussed in this thread, only mine is in a Facebook fan page tab (FBML/FBJS). The fix described in the referenced question works fine outside of Facebook, but for whatever reason I can't get it to work in the posted FBJS. Even by manually setting the name (document.getElementbyId('testframe').setName('testframe') fails to work the way it would outside of Facebook. Has anyone run into this same issue, and if so, is there any way around it? Thank you.

I need to set the tabindex index on the 'terms_radio' DIV, simply tabindex="2" attribute on div is not working, Is it possible to bring the dotted border on the label for the radio input up on pressing the TAB when the cursor is at email input field?

    I have 3 classes, let's call them 1, 2, and 3. Class 1 extends TabActivity and organizes the whole tab thing, Class 2 and 3 are just two separate tabs each with some lines of text. I call Class 1 from another activity using startActivityForResult. I then added an optionsMenu in class 2, and when user clicks the optionMenu, the following code is carried out: @Override public boolean onMenuItemSelected(int featureId, MenuItem item) { Intent i = new Intent(); switch(item.getItemId()) { case Result.NEXT_ID: i.putExtra(Result.PAGE_REQUEST, NEXT); setResult(RESULT_OK, i); finish(); break; case Result.PREV_ID: i.putExtra(Result.PAGE_REQUEST, PREV); setResult(RESULT_OK, i); finish(); } return super.onMenuItemSelected(featureId, item); } In my parent class (the class that called 1 to begin with), in its onActivityResult function, I want to get the data from the extras. However, the intent is always null, and I can't figure out why. When I call finish() on class 2, is it calling some other function in class 1? Do I have to transfer the intent data somehow?

  • Dynamic External Program in debug tab vs2008

    I am playing with NServiceBus using the generic host; specifically I'm working on having 2 different configurations, a debug configuration that logs to the console and a release version that logs to metabase (I'm using VS2008). I had just made some code changes (commented out a logging statement), but it was still showing in the log when I ran my solution. I eventually figured out that I had switched configuration to release, made my change, then built. I think the change isn’t being picked up because in the debug tab of my project properties I have the following (abbreviated) path to the generic host: C:...\Inventory\bin\Debug\NServiceBus.Host.exe Notice it specifically points to the debug directory. So basically even though I’m in release config it’s firing up the host in the debug directory which I think is then using the dll's in the debug directory (which is why my changes didn't get picked up). I tried to come up with a workaround, but have been unsuccessful. VS Macros (like $(Configuration)) and relative pathing are not allowed here. http://connect.microsoft.com/VisualStudio/feedback/details/422223/relative-path-not-allowed-in-c-project-debug-properties-window Any ideas? I hope this doesn’t require a custom build task.

  • Why do I get an error while trying to set the content of a tabspec in android?

I don't understand what the problem is because R.layout.unit_data refers to a layout file in my resource directory (res/layout/unit_data.xml) as far as I can tell unit_data.xml is well formed and I've even referenced it successfully in another activity class UnitData extends Activity { @Override public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); setContentView(R.layout.unit_data); Toast.makeText(this, "Hi from UnitData.onCreate", 5); } } which does not give an error and renders the layout just fine. What's going on? Why can't I reference this layout when creating a tab?

  • NOTEPAD++ Need macro or typeitin for automation of large lists

    I'm sure there is a way to do this but I can not seem to figure it out. I will try my best to explain this. I have a list with 20,000 lines in notepad++. I have two tabs open in notepad++. The right side tab is the main list. The left side tab is what needs to be added to the beginning of each line in the right tab. Here is an image of my notepad++ to give you a better understanding. I need to be able to do the following in an automated way as I have over 20,000 lines to do this way. copy line 1 of tab 'new 7' switch to tab 'new 6' paste clipboard(line 1 of tab 'new 7') at beginning of line 1 tab 'new 6' switch back to tab 'new 7' copy line 2 of tab 'new 7' switch to tab 'new 6' paste clipboard(line 2 of tab 'new 7') at beginning of line 2 tab 'new 6' I have both pasteitin and typeitin download but if i need some other program/app or if it's built in to notepad++ that would be great. I need to do this by the program itself or for me to only have to press a button to do each of these.

  • firefox: getting access to the list of tabs/windows to restore on startup

    Sometimes ffox fails to restore the previously open tabs/windows. This might be happening when some of the urls to be opened are no longer reachable (e.g. behind a vpn) or after the underlying OS (Windows) has been forcibly restarted (e.g. to complete an automated patch installation). Anyway, after restarting, can this list of urls be recovered somehow? Say for example, I was daft enough to have clicked on "start new session". Can I still get access to the old list of open urls? There is the browser history of course, but it contains a lot of stuff - the urls that were open when ffox last exited are not obvious. It would be neat if they were marked in some way - tagged for example. .robb

    Does anyone know how to get TextMate to search an external file (or even the files contained in a TextMate "project") with which to perform word completion? I'm coding some stuff on the C64 (using TextMate to write the code) and I have an external file containing labels for all of the hardware registers/kernal routines e.g VIC2InteruptStatus = $D019 It would be really handy to be able to type, say, 'VIC2I' then press the key for word completion and have TextMate find matches in the external library file. Rather than how I'm having to do it at the moment by opening the library file and copy-paste the register names into my code.

    Hi, I'm facing a weired problem on a unix-based machine. Here is the story: I have a personal username/password on a unix machine with limited privileges. Whenever I need to execute some commands I have to substitute user using the su command, then I execute it normally. Now, I need to add a cronjob that uses such privileged commands so I added the cronjob on the crontab of the user I substituted to in order to have access to these commands. Strangely, it turned out to me that these commands fail to run for some reason as a cronjob although when I execute them directly from shell (after su) they work seamlessly. Why does this happen? Why do these commands not work as part of cronjobs? Thank you

  • Why do XSLT editors insert tab or space characters into XSLT to format it?

    All XSLT editors I've tried till now add tab or space characters to the XSLT to indent it for formatting. This is done even in places within the XSLT where these characters are significant to the XSLT processor. XSLT modified for formatting in this way can produce output very different to that of the original XSLT if it had no formatting. To prevent this, xsl:text elements or other XSLT must be added to a sequence constructor to help separate formatting from content, this additional XSLT impacts on maintainability. Formatting characters also adversely impact on general usability of the tool in a number of ways (this is why word-processors don't use them I guess) and add to the size of the file. As part of a larger project I've had to develop a light-weight XSLT editor, it's designed to format XSLT properly, but without tab or space characters, just a dynamic left-margin for each new line. The XSLT therefore doesn't need additional elements to separate formatting tab or space characters from content. The problem with this is that if XSLT from this editor is opened in other XSLT editors, characters will be added for formatting reasons and the XSLT may therefore no longer behave as intended. Why then do existing XSLT editors use tabs or spaces for formatting in the first place? I feel there must be valid reasons, perhaps historical, perhaps practical. An answer will help me understand whether I need to put compatibility options in place in my XSLT editor somehow, whether I should simply revert to using tabs or spaces for both XSLT content and formatting (though this seems like a backwards step to me), or even whether enough XSLT users might be able to persuade their tools vendors to include alternative formatting methods to tabs or spaces.     I'm trying to get MTP with the galaxy tab 2 7.0 working on my ubuntu installation. Such that I can access the files. PTP_ERROR_IO: failed to open session, trying again after resetting USB interface LIBMTP libusb: Attempt to reset device LIBMTP PANIC: failed to open session on second attempt Unable to open raw device 0 [20:44|0] $ mtp-detect | grep idProduct Device 0 (VID=04e8 and PID=6860) is a Samsung GT-P7310/P7510/N7000/I9100/Galaxy Tab 7.7/10.1/S2/Nexus/Note. PTP_ERROR_IO: failed to open session, trying again after resetting USB interface LIBMTP libusb: Attempt to reset device LIBMTP PANIC: failed to open session on second attempt Unable to open raw device 0 Now my guess was was that the idVender is the same as the VID (04e8) and the idProduct is the same as PID (6860) Now I continued to work with those values and completed the tutorial. When finished I tried android-connect This returned fuse: bad mount point `/media/GalaxyTab': Transport endpoint is not connected Does anybody have a clue what to do? Also I want to note that when I connect my GalaxyTab 2 7.0 that I still get a pop-up of ubuntu that a device was connected. I also can still see the mapstructure, the problem however is is that all the folders have 0 bytes and do not have any subfolders. I can only see the folders in the root. ps.   • Looking for a good text parsing library for C#

    Has anyone run across a quality library that will parse, line by line, CSV, tab-delimited, and Excel files? I've started to do it manually but have noticed some of the intricacies in parsing a comma-delimited file. Such as situations where a cell has a comma in it as part of the data (blah,\"LastName, Jr.\",blah,blah).
