I'm looking to add circle-polygon collisions to my Separating Axis Theorem collision detection.
The metanet software tutorial (http://www.metanetsoftware.com/technique/tutorialA.html#section3) on SAT, which I discovered in the answer to a question I found when searching, talks about voronoi regions.
I'm having trouble finding material on how I would calculate these regions for an arbitrary convex polygon and aleo how I would determine if a point is in one + which.
The tutorial does contain source code but it's a .fla and I don't have Flash unfortunately.
In my Systems Programming class, there are weekly programming experiments, and I'm having trouble with the current one.
The objective is to write a C program that slowly writes a string of text to a file, metered by usleep() in a 100 count for loop.
The goal of the experiment is to observe the file size buffer in action via the watch command. However, I can't get it to work using watch -d ./output
What syntax do I need for the watch command to see the changes made to the file size?
One of the applications that I like to use on my websites it the Quick Digital Image Gallery (QDIG) , which is a simple PHP-based image gallery that has just enough features to be really useful without a lot of work on my part to get it working. (Simple is always better - ;-] .) Here's a screenshot of QDIG in action with some Bing photos: (Click to enlarge photo.) The trouble is, QDIG creates some really heinous query string lines; see the URL line in the following screenshot for an example:...(read more)
When I try to export a document from org-mode in emacs, c-X, c-E now results in 'Can't find library org' whereas in 10.04 it opened the export dialog allowing me to produce html, pdf etc. from the source org file.
Searching with Google, I found this bug for redhat which looks closely related.
The trouble is I don't know how to get hold of the emacs-el package it talks about in ubuntu in order to try its workaround so I'm currently stuck.
How do you avoid getting into trouble with the law or lawsuits for a website that could enable illegal or potentially harmful activity by its users.
The only thing I can think of is to make the content wholly user-generated, and thereby I have no control or say or responsibility for what goes on there.
As an example, a website that shows great ski and snowboarding locations...well people could get hurt, or ski and snowboard on land where they are tresspassing, etc.
Thoughts?
I'm just wondering what is the preferred practice for adding icons? I see quite a bit of hype over SVG images however having a bit of trouble understanding how they are implemented as every article I read seems out of date.
I need icons for simple lists, the icons need to be one solid color.
I feel as if using png's was so 2008 haha, would you recommend the use of SVG images or are developers using other methods to display icons now?
I am very new to programming and I have started to learn programming just last week. I am still having trouble understanding about programming languages, especially what to use in a particular system.
My first language is Java and its the only programming language I have experience with.
I know there are a lot of programming languages out there but I am so curious what programming language was used to develop Windows? Is Java can be used to develop an OS?
I'm trying to delete old system files in Windows 7, I switched into Ubuntu to delete the files there but now I can't see the files. They are on my D: drive and I can see all of the files on my C: drive, but not the D. I know that ubuntu doesn't enumerate the drives but I have located the drives in Ubuntu and am still having trouble accessing the files. I have tried using ctrl + H but the files still do not show up.
The default trace is still the best way of getting important information to provide a security audit of SQL Server, since it records such information as logins, changes to users and roles, changes in object permissions, error events and changes to both database settings and schemas. The only trouble is that the information is volatile. Feodor shows how to squirrel the information away to provide reports, check for unauthorised changes and provide forensic evidence.
I'm trying to convert a Fortan77 program to C#. I have a subroutine with about 650 lines of code and horrific GOTO statements all over the place. I'm having a lot of trouble even starting to visualise the flow of the subroutine to figure out what it does.
Is there anybody with experience in this sort of thing who could give me any advice on how to get an overview of this subroutine? Are there some tools available to speed up or facilitate this type of conversion?

How closely can a game resemble another game without legal problems
I want make a game similar to Pocket Tanks but for Android and then sell it. Since I am not directly copying anything from Pocket Tanks, but simply using it to give me ideas, I should be allowed to make it. I don't want to finish making my game and then get into some legal trouble, so I wanted to ask here if its allowed. If this is the wrong place to ask, can you tell me where I could ask this question?
I know that alt+ctrl+F(1-6) take me to available command lines, and that F1 command line is used for debugging, and F8 is the GUI desktop, that what i know but today i noticed there in F7 that does nothing, it only displays some sort of log in message, and there is F(9-12) that just display black screen with blinking under scroll .
can anyone enlighten me what those consoles do, are they for trouble shooting maybe?
i use ubuntu netbook 10.10.
I picked up a motion computing m1400 for cheap and was successful in getting 11.04 installed on it but have run into trouble getting the touch screen to work. This is one of the older tablet pcs that need a special pen for the touch screen. There are instructions out there for older versions of Ubuntu but they usually rely on a package called wacom-tools that is no longer in the repos. Is there any support for these old tablets or has time passed them by?
Following on from his first four articles on using Data Analysis Expressions (DAX) with tabular databases, Robert Sheldon dives into some of the DAX statistical functions available, demonstrating which are the most useful and examples of how they work.

Many people deploy performance monitoring solutions in a "one-size-fits-all" manner. That is, they tend to build a solution that can be easily deployed to multiple servers and capture basic information from each server. The trouble is that not every server is identical, not even within the same shop. For example, not every server may have database mirroring deployed, which means your performance monitoring solution may be missing some critical pieces of information with regards to monitoring database mirroring.

Have got my Logitech C270 webcam working out of the box for cheese, skype and it's working fine, sound as well.
But when I go to a website stream it is looking for my camera here; file/dev/video0
the trouble is everything else is say my webcam is here instead; file/dev/video1
So it works ok on Skype with those settings but other sites are looking for cam in the wrong place?
Thanks now for any advice :)
So I've been having some trouble recently with Ubuntu and decided it was time to switch to windows. But I have no ntfs partitions on my hard disk and GParted will not let me resize my one large partition (/dev/sda1) so that I can allocate some ntfs space to install windows on.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, I've had this problem for quite some time now and it had just become one big headache.
Thanks in advance!
I'm writing a 2d particle system for a game in Pygame[1].
For the particles, I have an image surface loaded from a file -- basically a white primitive drawn over a transparent background.
I'd like the particle engine to emit variously colored particles, but I'm not sure how to tell Pygame to color the surface.
I've looked through what passes for documentation, but I'm having trouble finding anything.
[1] Yeah, I don't really like Pygame, but my course insists I write this project in Python.
I want to add text on a single wordpress blog post page where the "read more" text would usually be inserted. However, I can't configure a plugin to replace that text. I tried a few different sources, but I'm having trouble finding the solution.
After looking through WordPress plugin: finding the <!--more--> in the_content and the page it links to, I still haven't been able to find a solution to this.
Are you having trouble getting your site sold? If you're spending more time marketing your site that's for sale than actually working on turning a site around, then maybe it's time you get a website broker.
I used the wubi installer for Ubuntu 12.04.
After having trouble with getting the Operating System to boot, I tried uninstalling it with wubi.
From 'My Computer' (in Windows 7), I noticed the maximum capacity of my hard drive drop from 256gb to 238gb.
I have tried using some methods with the command prompt to locate the missing storage, but Windows now only recognizes that the storage on the disk to have 238gb instead of the original 256.
Is there any way to recover that memory?
If you are trouble-shooting an AlwaysOn Availability Group topology, a study of the wait statistics will give a pointer to many of the causes of problems. Although several wait types are documented, there is nothing like practical experiment to familiarize yourself with new wait stats, and Joe Sack demonstrates a way of testing the sort of waits generated by an availability group under various circumstances.
