  • Should Git be used for documentation and project management? Should the code be in a separate repository?

    I'm starting up a Git repository for a group project. Does it make sense to store documents in the same Git repository as code - it seems like this conflicts with the nature of the git revision flow. Here is a summary of my question(s): Is the Git revisioning style going to be confusing if both code and documents are checked into the same repository? Experiences with this? Is Git a good fit for documentation revision control? I am NOT asking if a Revision Control System in general should or shouldn't be used for documentation - it should.   • mismatch of version of libkdcraw20 and libkdcraw-data

    I'm using Ubuntu 12.04 LTS. When I'm installlin digiKam, I'm getting a mismatch in the versions of libkdcraw20 and libkdcraw-data wanted by it and that available in the repositories. It wants version 4.8.5-0ubuntu0.2 (or in other words that is the latest version according to synaptic) but the available one is 4.8.5-0ubuntu0.3 in both cases. Is there a work-around? Or how do I request the Ubuntu managers to rectify this? addenda On Synaptic i selected digikam to be installed. it downloaded all the dependencies but the 2 in question were not found - the message it gave "W: Failed to fetch security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/main/libk/libkdcraw/… 404 Not Found [IP: 91.189.91.13 80]". I google-searched the 2 files in the repositories to find that the version available there is ubuntu0.3 instead of ubuntu0.2.

  • Choice of Operating System Version for Azure Roles

    Customers can now choose when their applications receive new operating system updates and patches by selecting which version of the operating system their applications will run on in Windows Azure.  Right now there is only one available operating system version (released on December 17th, 2009), but new builds with the latest updates and patches will be released regularly.  This new feature allows developers to test their applications when new patches come out before upgrading their production deployments.   • NVidia control panel SSAO not working

    I am just before implementing screen space ambient occlusion in my game, but first I wanted to try enabling it from NVidia control panel only to find out that it is greyed out so that I can not enable it. With this I could enable SSAO for some other games, but not every one. I know this technique requires the depth buffer and (optionally) a normal map texture to sample information from which I already have access to given I have a deferred renderer working. After that I actually thought to roll back to a previous version of my game which still uses forward rendering so the depth buffer is actually bound to the backbuffer which I render to from the get-go so that maybe the NVidia control panel would somehow make use of it. It was not working with forward rendering either. (I also tried FXAA in the control panel and that works - but it doesn't need any depth or normal texture) So my question is that how can I enable this function so that it would work by enabling it in the NVidia control panel?
