I write a program foo, that actively use some library. Should I include authors of the library in the AUTHORS? It seems to yes, because total code of foo contain code from library. But if yes, I should include also authors of all others libraries, including standard libraries of compiler, authors of the compiler and other tools for producing final executable code, authors of OS...   Though I have read and tried some advises regarding the change of colors in a theme, I found no answer regarding my question, which is: When I drag a window to the left (or right or up) side of the screen an orange frame shows up, indicating the area that the window will occupy. This frame is in orange. Can you please inform me how can I change this color to blueish, to match my theme? At this point, I would like to inform you that Zorin OS has this blueish frame instead of orange, but I do not know where this color comes from.

  A simple Microsoft Optical mouse 1000 (USB) that runs perfectly on Windows, freezes up under Ubuntu 10.x and Fedora 1x after about 10 minutes of using the OS.Rebooting, the same problem comes up again in a few minutes. Interestingly, the problem does not occur when Ubuntu is installed in Oracle VirtualBox VM. Installing Ubuntu "as usual" (i.e. not in a VM), causes the problem to occur. Has any one here faced the same problem or have a solution for it? Maybe using a different mouse that is known to work with Ubuntu 10.x? If it helps my system is: Asus P5NSLI motherboard (nVidia nForce 570 chipset), 4 GB RAM Ubuntu 10.10 refers to "32 bit" version of Ubuntu It seems that Ubuntu has a lot of all types of freeze issues. Can someone recommend a version of Ubuntu that is fairly recent and stable ? I intend to use Ubuntu for Ruby on Rails development.

  I used to enable proprietary nVidia drivers on every previous Ubuntu release to get it working properly (elseway I was forced to a very low resolution and no graphic acceleration), and everything worked fine then. In particular, I noticed - still I don't know why - that the GPU fan on every OS gets noisy until the video drivers are loaded (runlevel 5, it seems, in Linux), and then slows down to a normal speed. Today I installed 12.10. Running the Live CD, surprisingly, everything was working fine: full resolution, acceleration, silent fan, and so on. The running driver was nvidia-current (GT 216). After installing and booting I found that the fan was overrunning. The installed driver is nouveau. I tried installing nvidia-current, or any other proprietary driver, even installing the kernel headers & source and then the drivers (as suggested here), but all I'm getting with proprietary drivers is, the irony, low resolution, noisy fan and no acceleration (thus obviously unity and compiz refusing to start). Does anybody know a way out?

So I defragmented and shrinked one of the partitions to make room for Ubuntu. Please mention the problems that may appear and explain how to avoid them. Ubuntu version that will be installed: 10.10 Desktop amd64 Please note that I have installed Windows 7 about a year ago, so I have much to lose if something goes wrong.   I have a windows xp os, and I ve decided to give ubuntu a shot. I installed and It when rebooting it did boot by default windows. I red several forums and after entering those commands: sudo mkdir /mnt/ubuntu sudo mount /dev/sda2 /mnt/ubuntu sudo grub-install /dev/sda --root -directory=/mnt/ubuntu after rebooting the system showed me the command grub. And I cannot get anywhere. I don t have a windows cd to fix anything. so how can I launch windows from this command grub? Thanks... I am in a real mess.

• Can't install Ubuntu 11.10 on a seperate disk partition. I have a log file. Please help!

  Before I installed Ubuntu, I resized my C: drive (which has my Windows 7 OS). Prior to resizing, I even defragged the said drive. I tried using Wubi to install it on the created partition, but I receive an error. I have the log file and I would post it but it's too long and the site won't let me. :(So anyway, I wasn't able to install it, so I uninstalled it. Upon uninstalling Wubi and Ubuntu, I tried installing it by having the CD to my CD ROM. The installation was a success, however, upon rebooting I can neither boot to Ubuntu OR Windows 7. I get stuck in an infinite bootloop. I hope you can help me out! :(

  I had 13.04 and started to upgrade to 13.10. But the computer hanged and I rebooted it. I did instructions from How do I resume a release upgrade/update? Now OS launches, but I upgrade is incomplete: there is no panels in Unity (just a background with some files on Desktop). I think that some post-install scripts didn't launch. Please help me with this trouble. P.S. Or how can I completely reinstall unity (with all of the dependencies)? If I am using Windows, Mac, Linux, or nearly any modern made OS for desktop IBM-compatible PCs, laptops, even tablets and smartphones, there's virtual memory. Clearly, compiling, at least on Windows I know this, an executable object file, such as a simple C "Hello World" output to a terminal, will be linked with the standard library, and several other Window's system software, dynamic linked libraries, and the like. However, how does linking all of these executables together or resources form a connectable interaction with, say, a device driver or any other stuff on the lower level?

It works fine but sometimes when i shutdown my PC from Ubuntu and when I try to start it again,nothing shows on the screen. It's always black screen instead of Acer logo (I have Acer aspire 5573) and the system restart again and again but and doesn't allow me to choose a OS (Ubuntu/windows,i use dualboot) To fix this I have to remove the battery and put it again.Then everything works fine. How do i fix this issue? I think that could be a incompatibility with the PC because everything works fine with windows. Thanks!

  I have been trying to install ubuntu along windows but failed. the issue is that I get a graphical glitch with the colours of the ubuntu loading screen while installing from usb and no progress is made, the pc freezes.   my problem is the that for a Hackintosh (unofficial PC running OS X) I needed to set AHCI, Power Mode S3 and HPET 64bit. Now, I want to install Ubuntu (when 12.04 comes out) and was wondering if these settings will be right to use for Ubuntu. I read that AHCI is how the hard disks are accessed, Power Mode S3 is how suspend works with the RAM but couldn't figure out if using HPET 64bit makes any difference than HPET 32bit.   I'm pretty new to Linux and I've only installed Ubuntu as I couldn't afford to buy Windows, worked well and I liked it. But I chose to upgrade it to the newest version after a prompt. The update froze and the machine was unresponsive which forced me to hard reboot it. Now nothing seems to load and I've reached my wits end (mainly cos I'm lost in all the command lines). I've decided to try and recover my data from the hard drive, only two folders, by selecting the try Ubuntu option when I insert the OS CD into the machine. The problem I'm experiencing now is it won't let me copy my folders, I get a 'The folder contents could not be displayed. You do not have the permissions necessary to view the contents of "folder_name".' Does anyone know how I can recover this data?
