  • Failure with LogonUser in MC++

    - by Alikar
    After fighting with this for a week I have not really gotten anywhere in why it constantly fails in my code, but not in other examples. My code, which while it compiles, will not log into a user that I know has the correct login information. Where it fails is the following line: wi = gcnew WindowsIdentity(token); It fails here because the token is zero, meaning that it was never set to a user token. Here is my full code: #ifndef UNCAPI_H #define UNCAPI_H #include <windows.h> #pragma once using namespace System; using namespace System::Runtime::InteropServices; using namespace System::Security::Principal; using namespace System::Security::Permissions; namespace UNCAPI { public ref class UNCAccess { public: //bool Logon(String ^_srUsername, String ^_srDomain, String ^_srPassword); [PermissionSetAttribute(SecurityAction::Demand, Name = "FullTrust")] bool Logon(String ^_srUsername, String ^_srDomain, String ^_srPassword) { bool bSuccess = false; token = IntPtr(0); bSuccess = LogonUser(_srUsername, _srDomain, _srPassword, 8, 0, &tokenHandle); if(bSuccess) { wi = gcnew WindowsIdentity(token); wic = wi->Impersonate(); } return bSuccess; } void UNCAccess::Logoff() { if (wic != nullptr ) { wic->Undo(); } CloseHandle((int*)token.ToPointer()); } private: [DllImport("advapi32.dll", SetLastError=true)]//[DllImport("advapi32.DLL", EntryPoint="LogonUserW", SetLastError=true, CharSet=CharSet::Unicode, ExactSpelling=true, CallingConvention=CallingConvention::StdCall)] bool static LogonUser(String ^lpszUsername, String ^lpszDomain, String ^lpszPassword, int dwLogonType, int dwLogonProvider, IntPtr *phToken); [DllImport("KERNEL32.DLL", EntryPoint="CloseHandle", SetLastError=true, CharSet=CharSet::Unicode, ExactSpelling=true, CallingConvention=CallingConvention::StdCall)] bool static CloseHandle(int *handle); IntPtr token; WindowsIdentity ^wi; WindowsImpersonationContext ^wic; };// End of Class UNCAccess }// End of Name Space #endif UNCAPI_H Now using this slightly modified example from Microsoft I was able to get a login and a token: #using <mscorlib.dll> #using <System.dll> using namespace System; using namespace System::Runtime::InteropServices; using namespace System::Security::Principal; using namespace System::Security::Permissions; [assembly:SecurityPermissionAttribute(SecurityAction::RequestMinimum, UnmanagedCode=true)] [assembly:PermissionSetAttribute(SecurityAction::RequestMinimum, Name = "FullTrust")]; [DllImport("advapi32.dll", SetLastError=true)] bool LogonUser(String^ lpszUsername, String^ lpszDomain, String^ lpszPassword, int dwLogonType, int dwLogonProvider, IntPtr* phToken); [DllImport("kernel32.dll", CharSet=System::Runtime::InteropServices::CharSet::Auto)] int FormatMessage(int dwFlags, IntPtr* lpSource, int dwMessageId, int dwLanguageId, String^ lpBuffer, int nSize, IntPtr *Arguments); [DllImport("kernel32.dll", CharSet=CharSet::Auto)] bool CloseHandle(IntPtr handle); [DllImport("advapi32.dll", CharSet=CharSet::Auto, SetLastError=true)] bool DuplicateToken(IntPtr ExistingTokenHandle, int SECURITY_IMPERSONATION_LEVEL, IntPtr* DuplicateTokenHandle); // GetErrorMessage formats and returns an error message // corresponding to the input errorCode. • How can I make named_scope in Rails return one value instead of an array?

    - by sameera207
    I want to write a [named scope] to get a record from its id. For example, I have a model called Event, and I want to simulate Event.find(id) with use of named_scope for future flexibility. I used this code in my model: named_scope :from_id, lambda { |id| {:conditions => ['id= ?', id] } } and I call it from my controller like Event.from_id(id). But my problem is that it returns an array of Event objects instead of just one object. Thus if I want to get event name, I have to write event = Event.from_id(id) event[0].name while what I want is event = Event.from_id(id) event.name Am I doing something wrong here?

  • Can I get the matched DOM string with PHP and DOMDocument?

    - by alex
    I've got my HTML inside of $html. dom = new DOMDocument(); $dom->loadHTML($html); $xpath = new DOMXPath($dom); $tags = $xpath->query('//div[@id="header"]'); foreach($tags as $tag) { var_dump($tag->nodeValue); // the innerHTML of that element var_dump($tag); // object(DOMElement)#3 (0) { } } Is there a way to get that node, or remove it? Basically, I'm parsing an existing website and need to remove elements from it. What method do I call to do that? Thanks

  • Create a string with the result of an expression and the expression that originated the value. Is it

    - by Oscar Reyes
    Like String r = SomeThing.toExecString("new Object().toString()"); And when executed the value of r would be: "new Object().toString() = java.lang.Object@c5e3974" Is this even possible at all? Would it need a bunch of reflection? A built in compiler maybe? AFAIK, this is not possible with regular Java. The closest thing I could get is IDE support like in IDEA with the "macro" soutv+tab that prints: Hit taband type the expression The IDE types the rest for you. But that's quite another completely thing.

  • Better type safety in Java collections

    - by Paul Tomblin
    In my java coding, I often end up with several Map<String,Map<String,foo>> or Map<String,List<String>> and then I have trouble remembering which String is which key. I comment the declaration with //Map<capabiltyId,Map<groupId,foo>> or //Map<groupId,List<capabilityId>, but it's not the greatest solution. If String wasn't final, I would make new classes CapabilityId extends String and GroupId extends String, but I can't. Is there a better way to keep track of which thing is the key and maybe have the compiler enforce it?

  • Google App Engine JDO how to define class fields ?

    - by Frank
    I have a class like this : import java.io.*; import java.util.*; public class Contact_Info_Entry implements Serializable { public static final long serialVersionUID=26362862L; String Contact_Id,First_Name="",Last_Name="",Company_Name="",Branch_Name="",Address_1="",Address_2="",City="",State="",Zip="",Country="",E_Mail="",Phone; int I_1,I_2; float F_1,F_2; boolean B_1,B_2; GregorianCalendar Date_1, Date_2; Vector<String> A_Vector=new Vector<String>(); public Contact_Info_Entry() { } ...... } If I want to translate it to a class for JDO, do I need to define each field by it self or can I do a group at a time ? For instance do I have to make it like this : @PersistenceCapable(identityType=IdentityType.APPLICATION) public class Contact_Info_Entry implements Serializable { @PrimaryKey @Persistent(valueStrategy=IdGeneratorStrategy.IDENTITY) private Long id; @Persistent public static final long serialVersionUID=26362862L; @Persistent String Contact_Id; @Persistent String First_Name; @Persistent String Last_Name; ...... @Persistent int I_1; @Persistent int I_2; ... @Persistent float F_1; ... @Persistent boolean B_1; @Persistent boolean B_2; @Persistent GregorianCalendar Date_1; ... @Persistent Vector<String> A_Vector=new Vector<String>(); public Contact_Info_Entry() { } ...... } Or can I do a group at a time like this : @PersistenceCapable(identityType=IdentityType.APPLICATION) public class Contact_Info_Entry implements Serializable { @PrimaryKey @Persistent(valueStrategy=IdGeneratorStrategy.IDENTITY) private Long id; @Persistent public static final long serialVersionUID=26362862L; @Persistent String Contact_Id,First_Name,Last_Name=""; ...... @Persistent int I_1=0,I_2=1; ... @Persistent float F_1; ... @Persistent boolean B_1,B_2; @Persistent GregorianCalendar Date_1; ... @Persistent Vector<String> A_Vector=new Vector<String>(); public Contact_Info_Entry() { } ...... } Or can I skip the "@Persistent" all together like this : import java.io.*; import java.util.*; @PersistenceCapable(identityType=IdentityType.APPLICATION) public class Contact_Info_Entry implements Serializable { public static final long serialVersionUID=26362862L; String Contact_Id,First_Name="",Last_Name="",Company_Name="",Branch_Name="",Address_1="",Address_2="",City="",State="",Zip="",Country="", E_Mail="",Phone; int I_1,I_2; float F_1,F_2; boolean B_1,B_2; GregorianCalendar Date_1, Date_2; Vector<String> A_Vector=new Vector<String>(); public Contact_Info_Entry() { } ...... } Which are correct ?   • Intermittent Internet Explorer Error whilst using Javascript to traverse XML Nodes

    - by Sykth
    Hi there all, Basically I use a javascript SOAP plugin to send and receive XML from a web service. Recently I've been experiencing intermittment (1 in every 20-30 times) errors in IE when trying to access data in the XML file. Bear with me on this, I'm going to try and go into a fair amount of detail to help anyone who is willing to read this: I have a html file, with an external javascript file attached. In the javascript file I include 5 global variables: var soapRes; var questionXML; var xRoot; var assessnode; var edStage = 0; Once the html file is at a readystate I request the XML file from the web service like this: function initNextStage(strA) { // Set pl Parameters here var pl = new SOAPClientParameters(); // soap call var r = SOAPClient.invoke(url, "LoadAssessment", pl, true, initStage_callBack); } function initStage_callBack(r, soapResponse) { soapRes = soapResponse; initvalues(); function initvalues(){ xRoot = soapRes.documentElement; assessnode = xRoot.getElementsByTagName("ed")[0]; questionXML = assessnode.getElementsByTagName("question")[edStage]; } } Once this is completed the XML should be loaded into memory via the global variable soapRes. I then save values to the XML before moving one node down the XML tree, and pulling the next set of values out of it. function submitAns1() { var objAns; var corElem; var corElemTxt; questionXML = assessnode.getElementsByTagName("question")[edStage]; objAns = questionXML.getElementsByTagName("item")[0].getAttribute("answer"); corElem = soapRes.createElement("correct"); corElemTxt = soapRes.createTextNode("value"); questionXML.appendChild(corElem); corElem.appendChild(corElemTxt); if(objAns == "t") { corElemTxt.nodeValue = "true"; } else { corElemTxt.nodeValue = "false"; } edStage++; questionXML = assessnode.getElementsByTagName("question")[edStage]; var inc1 = questionXML.getElementsByTagName("sentence")[0]; var inc2 = questionXML.getElementsByTagName("sentence")[1]; var edopt1 = questionXML.getElementsByTagName("item")[0]; var edopt2 = questionXML.getElementsByTagName("item")[1]; var edopt3 = questionXML.getElementsByTagName("item")[2]; var edopt4 = questionXML.getElementsByTagName("item")[3]; var edopt5 = questionXML.getElementsByTagName("item")[4]; var temp1 = edopt1.childNodes[0].nodeValue; var temp2 = edopt2.childNodes[0].nodeValue; var temp3 = edopt3.childNodes[0].nodeValue; var temp4 = edopt4.childNodes[0].nodeValue; var temp5 = edopt5.childNodes[0].nodeValue; } This is an example of our XML: <ed> <appid>Administrator</appid> <formid>ED009</formid> <question id="1"> <sentence id="1">[email protected]</sentence> <sentence id="2">[email protected]</sentence> <item id="0" answer="f" value="0">0</item> <item id="1" answer="f" value="1">1</item> <item id="2" answer="f" value="2">2</item> <item id="3" answer="t" value="3">3</item> <item id="4" answer="f" value="4">4</item> </question> <question id="2"> <sentence id="1">Beausdene 13</sentence> <sentence id="2">Beauscene 83</sentence> <item id="0" answer="f" value="0">0</item> <item id="1" answer="f" value="1">1</item> <item id="2" answer="t" value="2">2</item> <item id="3" answer="f" value="3">3</item> <item id="4" answer="f" value="4">4</item> </question> </ed> The error I receive intermittently is that "questionXML" is null or not an object. Specifically this line when I call on the submitAns1() method: questionXML = assessnode.getElementsByTagName("question")[edStage]; This solution works on FF, Opera, Chrome & Safari without any issues as far as I am aware. Am I accessing the XML nodes incorrectly? I've been toying with fixes for this bug for weeks now, I'd really appreciate any insight into what I'm doing wrong. On a side note, this is a personal project of mine - it's not university related - I'm much too old for that! Any help greatly appreciated. Regards, Sykth.

  • Data won't save to SQL database, getting error "close() was never explicitly called on database"

    - by SnowLeppard
    I have a save button in the activity where the user enters data which does this: String subjectName = etName.getText().toString(); String subjectColour = etColour.getText().toString(); SQLDatabase entrySubject = new SQLDatabase(AddSubject.this); entrySubject.open(); entrySubject.createSubjectEntry(subjectName, subjectColour); entrySubject.close(); Which refers to this SQL database class: package com.***.schooltimetable; import android.content.ContentValues; import android.content.Context; import android.database.Cursor; import android.database.SQLException; import android.database.sqlite.SQLiteDatabase; import android.database.sqlite.SQLiteOpenHelper; public class SQLDatabase { public static final String KEY_SUBJECTS_ROWID = "_id"; public static final String KEY_SUBJECTNAME = "name"; public static final String KEY_COLOUR = "colour"; private static final String DATABASE_NAME = "Database"; private static final String DATABASE_TABLE_SUBJECTS = "tSubjects"; private static final int DATABASE_VERSION = 1; private DbHelper ourHelper; private final Context ourContext; private SQLiteDatabase ourDatabase; private static class DbHelper extends SQLiteOpenHelper { public DbHelper(Context context) { super(context, DATABASE_NAME, null, DATABASE_VERSION); // TODO Auto-generated constructor stub } @Override public void onCreate(SQLiteDatabase db) { // TODO Auto-generated method stub db.execSQL("CREATE TABLE " + DATABASE_TABLE_SUBJECTS + " (" + KEY_SUBJECTS_ROWID + " INTEGER PRIMARY KEY AUTOINCREMENT, " + KEY_SUBJECTNAME + " TEXT NOT NULL, " + KEY_COLOUR + " TEXT NOT NULL);"); } @Override public void onUpgrade(SQLiteDatabase db, int oldVersion, int newVersion) { // TODO Auto-generated method stub db.execSQL("DROP TABLE IF EXISTS " + DATABASE_TABLE_SUBJECTS); onCreate(db); } } public SQLDatabase(Context c) { ourContext = c; } public SQLDatabase open() throws SQLException { ourHelper = new DbHelper(ourContext); ourDatabase = ourHelper.getWritableDatabase(); return this; } public void close() { ourHelper.close(); } public long createSubjectEntry(String subjectName, String subjectColour) { // TODO Auto-generated method stub ContentValues cv = new ContentValues(); cv.put(KEY_SUBJECTNAME, subjectName); cv.put(KEY_COLOUR, subjectColour); return ourDatabase.insert(DATABASE_TABLE_SUBJECTS, null, cv); } public String[][] getSubjects() { // TODO Auto-generated method stub String[] Columns = new String[] { KEY_SUBJECTNAME, KEY_COLOUR }; Cursor c = ourDatabase.query(DATABASE_TABLE_SUBJECTS, Columns, null, null, null, null, null); String[][] Result = new String[1][]; // int iRow = c.getColumnIndex(KEY_LESSONS_ROWID); int iName = c.getColumnIndex(KEY_SUBJECTNAME); int iColour = c.getColumnIndex(KEY_COLOUR); for (c.moveToFirst(); !c.isAfterLast(); c.moveToNext()) { Result[0][c.getPosition()] = c.getString(iName); Result[1][c.getPosition()] = c.getString(iColour); Settings.subjectCount = c.getPosition(); TimetableEntry.subjectCount = c.getPosition(); } return Result; } This class has other variables and other variations of the same methods for multiple tables in the database, i've cut out the irrelevant ones. I'm not sure what I need to close and where, I've got the entrySubject.close() in my activity. I used the methods for the database from the NewBoston tutorials. Can anyone see what I've done wrong, or where my problem is? Thanks.

  • Problem Showing Sensors Details

    - by Skatephone
    Hi, i'm looking to show detail about sensors in an Actvity but when i put my app in to my phone i manage to view only details about the accellerometer, but the program says that i have 4 sensors: Accellerometer, Magnetic field, Orientation and Temperature. I'm using Android 1.6 and a htc Tattoo for testing. This is my code: public class SensorInfo extends Activity { private SensorManager mSensorManager; TextView mTextAcc,mTextGyr,mTextLig,mTextMag,mTextOri, mTextPre,mTextPro,mTextTem, mSensorsTotTitle,mSensorAvailablesTitle,mTextAccTitle,mTextGyrTitle,mTextLigTitle,mTextMagTitle,mTextOriTitle, mTextPreTitle,mTextProTitle,mTextTemTitle; @Override public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); setContentView(R.layout.detaillayout); // Get the texts fields of the layout and setup to invisible setTextViews(); // Get the SensorManager mSensorManager= (SensorManager) getSystemService(SENSOR_SERVICE); // List of Sensors Available List<Sensor> msensorList = mSensorManager.getSensorList(Sensor.TYPE_ALL); // Print Sensor Details Sensor sens; int type,i; String text = new String(""); // Do the list of available sensors on a String and print detail about each sensor for (i=0;i<msensorList.size();i++){ sens = msensorList.get(i); type = sens.getType(); text = " - "+getString(R.string.power)+" "+String.valueOf(sens.getPower())+"mA\n"; text+= " - "+getString(R.string.resolution)+" "+String.valueOf(sens.getResolution())+"\n"; text+= " - "+getString(R.string.maxrange)+" "+String.valueOf(sens.getMaximumRange ())+"\n"; text+= " - "+getString(R.string.vendor)+" "+sens.getVendor()+"\n"; text+= " - "+getString(R.string.version)+" "+String.valueOf(sens.getVersion()); switch(type) { // Check the type of Sensor that generate the event and show is resolution case Sensor.TYPE_ACCELEROMETER: mTextAccTitle.setVisibility(0); mTextAccTitle.setMaxHeight(30); mTextAcc.setVisibility(0); mTextAcc.setMaxHeight(100); mTextAcc.setText(text); // Print data of the Sensor break; case Sensor.TYPE_GYROSCOPE: mTextGyrTitle.setVisibility(0); mTextGyr.setVisibility(0); mTextGyr.setText(text); // Print data of the Sensor break; case Sensor.TYPE_LIGHT: mTextLigTitle.setVisibility(0); mTextLig.setVisibility(0); mTextLig.setText(text); // Print data of the Sensor break; case Sensor.TYPE_MAGNETIC_FIELD: mTextMagTitle.setVisibility(0); mTextMag.setVisibility(0); mTextMag.setText(text); // Print data of the Sensor break; case Sensor.TYPE_ORIENTATION: mTextOriTitle.setVisibility(0); mTextOri.setVisibility(0); mTextOri.setText(text); // Print data of the Sensor break; case Sensor.TYPE_PRESSURE: mTextPreTitle.setVisibility(0); mTextPre.setVisibility(0); mTextPre.setText(text); // Print data of the Sensor break; case Sensor.TYPE_PROXIMITY: mTextProTitle.setVisibility(0); mTextPro.setVisibility(0); mTextPro.setText(text); // Print data of the Sensor break; case Sensor.TYPE_TEMPERATURE: mTextTemTitle.setVisibility(0); mTextTem.setVisibility(0); mTextTem.setText(text); // Print data of the Sensor break; } } } // Get the texts fields of the layout and setup to invisible void setTextViews(){ mTextAccTitle = (TextView) findViewById(R.id.sensorAccTitle); mTextAccTitle.setVisibility(4); mTextAccTitle.setMaxHeight(0); mTextAcc = (TextView) findViewById(R.id.sensorAcc); mTextAcc.setMaxHeight(0); mTextAcc.setVisibility(4); mTextGyrTitle = (TextView) findViewById(R.id.sensorGyrTitle); mTextGyrTitle.setVisibility(4); mTextGyrTitle.setMaxHeight(0); mTextGyr = (TextView) findViewById(R.id.sensorGyr); mTextGyr.setVisibility(4); mTextGyrTitle.setMaxHeight(0); mTextLigTitle = (TextView) findViewById(R.id.sensorLigTitle); mTextLigTitle.setVisibility(4); mTextLigTitle.setMaxHeight(0); mTextLig = (TextView) findViewById(R.id.sensorLig); mTextLig.setVisibility(4); mTextLig.setMaxHeight(0); mTextMagTitle = (TextView) findViewById(R.id.sensorMagTitle); mTextMagTitle.setVisibility(4); mTextMagTitle.setMaxHeight(0); mTextMag = (TextView) findViewById(R.id.sensorMag); mTextMag.setVisibility(4); mTextMag.setMaxHeight(0); mTextOriTitle = (TextView) findViewById(R.id.sensorOriTitle); mTextOriTitle.setVisibility(4); mTextOriTitle.setMaxHeight(0); mTextOri = (TextView) findViewById(R.id.sensorOri); mTextOri.setVisibility(4); mTextOri.setMaxHeight(0); mTextPreTitle = (TextView) findViewById(R.id.sensorPreTitle); mTextPreTitle.setVisibility(4); mTextPreTitle.setMaxHeight(0); mTextPre = (TextView) findViewById(R.id.sensorPre); mTextPre.setVisibility(4); mTextPre.setMaxHeight(0); mTextProTitle = (TextView) findViewById(R.id.sensorProTitle); mTextProTitle.setVisibility(4); mTextProTitle.setMaxHeight(0); mTextPro = (TextView) findViewById(R.id.sensorPro); mTextPro.setVisibility(4); mTextPro.setMaxHeight(0); mTextTemTitle = (TextView) findViewById(R.id.sensorTemTitle); mTextTemTitle.setVisibility(4); mTextTemTitle.setMaxHeight(0); mTextTem = (TextView) findViewById(R.id.sensorTem); mTextTem.setVisibility(4); mTextTem.setMaxHeight(0); } } Tank's Valerio From Italy

  • How to get javascript object references or reference count?

    - by Tauren
    How to get reference count for an object Is it possible to determine if a javascript object has multiple references to it? Or if it has references besides the one I'm accessing it with? Or even just to get the reference count itself? Can I find this information from javascript itself, or will I need to keep track of my own reference counters. Obviously, there must be at least one reference to it for my code access the object. But what I want to know is if there are any other references to it, or if my code is the only place it is accessed. I'd like to be able to delete the object if nothing else is referencing it. If you know the answer, there is no need to read the rest of this question. Below is just an example to make things more clear. Use Case In my application, I have a Repository object instance called contacts that contains an array of ALL my contacts. There are also multiple Collection object instances, such as friends collection and a coworkers collection. Each collection contains an array with a different set of items from the contacts Repository. Sample Code To make this concept more concrete, consider the code below. Each instance of the Repository object contains a list of all items of a particular type. You might have a repository of Contacts and a separate repository of Events. To keep it simple, you can just get, add, and remove items, and add many via the constructor. var Repository = function(items) { this.items = items || []; } Repository.prototype.get = function(id) { for (var i=0,len=this.items.length; i<len; i++) { if (items[i].id === id) { return this.items[i]; } } } Repository.prototype.add = function(item) { if (toString.call(item) === "[object Array]") { this.items.concat(item); } else { this.items.push(item); } } Repository.prototype.remove = function(id) { for (var i=0,len=this.items.length; i<len; i++) { if (items[i].id === id) { this.removeIndex(i); } } } Repository.prototype.removeIndex = function(index) { if (items[index]) { if (/* items[i] has more than 1 reference to it */) { // Only remove item from repository if nothing else references it this.items.splice(index,1); return; } } } Note the line in remove with the comment. I only want to remove the item from my master repository of objects if no other objects have a reference to the item. Here's Collection: var Collection = function(repo,items) { this.repo = repo; this.items = items || []; } Collection.prototype.remove = function(id) { for (var i=0,len=this.items.length; i<len; i++) { if (items[i].id === id) { // Remove object from this collection this.items.splice(i,1); // Tell repo to remove it (only if no other references to it) repo.removeIndxe(i); return; } } } And then this code uses Repository and Collection: var contactRepo = new Repository([ {id: 1, name: "Joe"}, {id: 2, name: "Jane"}, {id: 3, name: "Tom"}, {id: 4, name: "Jack"}, {id: 5, name: "Sue"} ]); var friends = new Collection( contactRepo, [ contactRepo.get(2), contactRepo.get(4) ] ); var coworkers = new Collection( contactRepo, [ contactRepo.get(1), contactRepo.get(2), contactRepo.get(5) ] ); contactRepo.items; // contains item ids 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 friends.items; // contains item ids 2, 4 coworkers.items; // contains item ids 1, 2, 5 coworkers.remove(2); contactRepo.items; // contains item ids 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 friends.items; // contains item ids 2, 4 coworkers.items; // contains item ids 1, 5 friends.remove(4); contactRepo.items; // contains item ids 1, 2, 3, 5 friends.items; // contains item ids 2 coworkers.items; // contains item ids 1, 5 Notice how coworkers.remove(2) didn't remove id 2 from contactRepo? This is because it was still referenced from friends.items. However, friends.remove(4) causes id 4 to be removed from contactRepo, because no other collection is referring to it. Summary The above is what I want to do. I'm sure there are ways I can do this by keeping track of my own reference counters and such. But if there is a way to do it using javascript's built-in reference management, I'd like to hear about how to use it.

  • Database not updating after UPDATE SQL statement in ASP.net

    - by Ronnie
    I currently have a problem attepting to update a record within my database. I have a webpage that displays in text boxes a users details, these details are taken from the session upon login. The aim is to update the details when the user overwrites the current text in the text boxes. I have a function that runs when the user clicks the 'Save Details' button and it appears to work, as i have tested for number of rows affected and it outputs 1. However, when checking the database, the record has not been updated and I am unsure as to why. I've have checked the SQL statement that is being processed by displaying it as a label and it looks as so: UPDATE [users] SET [email]=@email, [firstname]=@firstname, [lastname]=@lastname, [promo]=@promo WHERE ([users].[user_id] = 16) The function and other relevant code is: Sub Button1_Click(sender As Object, e As EventArgs) changeDetails(emailBox.text, firstBox.text, lastBox.text, promoBox.text) End Sub Function changeDetails(ByVal email As String, ByVal firstname As String, ByVal lastname As String, ByVal promo As String) As Integer Dim connectionString As String = "Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0; Ole DB Services=-4; Data Source=C:\Documents an"& _ "d Settings\Paul Jarratt\My Documents\ticketoffice\datab\ticketoffice.mdb" Dim dbConnection As System.Data.IDbConnection = New System.Data.OleDb.OleDbConnection(connectionString) Dim queryString As String = "UPDATE [users] SET [email]=@email, [firstname]=@firstname, [lastname]=@lastname, "& _ "[promo]=@promo WHERE ([users].[user_id] = " + session.contents.item("ID") + ")" Dim dbCommand As System.Data.IDbCommand = New System.Data.OleDb.OleDbCommand dbCommand.CommandText = queryString dbCommand.Connection = dbConnection Dim dbParam_email As System.Data.IDataParameter = New System.Data.OleDb.OleDbParameter dbParam_email.ParameterName = "@email" dbParam_email.Value = email dbParam_email.DbType = System.Data.DbType.[String] dbCommand.Parameters.Add(dbParam_email) Dim dbParam_firstname As System.Data.IDataParameter = New System.Data.OleDb.OleDbParameter dbParam_firstname.ParameterName = "@firstname" dbParam_firstname.Value = firstname dbParam_firstname.DbType = System.Data.DbType.[String] dbCommand.Parameters.Add(dbParam_firstname) Dim dbParam_lastname As System.Data.IDataParameter = New System.Data.OleDb.OleDbParameter dbParam_lastname.ParameterName = "@lastname" dbParam_lastname.Value = lastname dbParam_lastname.DbType = System.Data.DbType.[String] dbCommand.Parameters.Add(dbParam_lastname) Dim dbParam_promo As System.Data.IDataParameter = New System.Data.OleDb.OleDbParameter dbParam_promo.ParameterName = "@promo" dbParam_promo.Value = promo dbParam_promo.DbType = System.Data.DbType.[String] dbCommand.Parameters.Add(dbParam_promo) Dim rowsAffected As Integer = 0 dbConnection.Open Try rowsAffected = dbCommand.ExecuteNonQuery Finally dbConnection.Close End Try labelTest.text = rowsAffected.ToString() if rowsAffected = 1 then labelSuccess.text = "* Your details have been updated and saved" else labelError.text = "* Your details could not be updated" end if End Function Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Slowdowns when reading from an urlconnection's inputstream (even with byte[] and buffers)

    - by user342677
    Ok so after spending two days trying to figure out the problem, and reading about dizillion articles, i finally decided to man up and ask to for some advice(my first time here). Now to the issue at hand - I am writing a program which will parse api data from a game, namely battle logs. There will be A LOT of entries in the database(20+ million) and so the parsing speed for each battle log page matters quite a bit. The pages to be parsed look like this: http://api.erepublik.com/v1/feeds/battle_logs/10000/0. (see source code if using chrome, it doesnt display the page right). It has 1000 hit entries, followed by a little battle info(lastpage will have <1000 obviously). On average, a page contains 175000 characters, UTF-8 encoding, xml format(v 1.0). Program will run locally on a good PC, memory is virtually unlimited(so that creating byte[250000] is quite ok). The format never changes, which is quite convenient. Now, I started off as usual: //global vars,class declaration skipped public WebObject(String url_string, int connection_timeout, int read_timeout, boolean redirects_allowed, String user_agent) throws java.net.MalformedURLException, java.io.IOException { // Open a URL connection java.net.URL url = new java.net.URL(url_string); java.net.URLConnection uconn = url.openConnection(); if (!(uconn instanceof java.net.HttpURLConnection)) { throw new java.lang.IllegalArgumentException("URL protocol must be HTTP"); } conn = (java.net.HttpURLConnection) uconn; conn.setConnectTimeout(connection_timeout); conn.setReadTimeout(read_timeout); conn.setInstanceFollowRedirects(redirects_allowed); conn.setRequestProperty("User-agent", user_agent); } public void executeConnection() throws IOException { try { is = conn.getInputStream(); //global var l = conn.getContentLength(); //global var } catch (Exception e) { //handling code skipped } } //getContentStream and getLength methods which just return'is' and 'l' are skipped Here is where the fun part began. I ran some profiling (using System.currentTimeMillis()) to find out what takes long ,and what doesnt. The call to this method takes only 200ms on avg public InputStream getWebPageAsStream(int battle_id, int page) throws Exception { String url = "http://api.erepublik.com/v1/feeds/battle_logs/" + battle_id + "/" + page; WebObject wobj = new WebObject(url, 10000, 10000, true, "Mozilla/5.0 " + "(Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.2.3) Gecko/20100401 Firefox/3.6.3 ( .NET CLR 3.5.30729)"); wobj.executeConnection(); l = wobj.getContentLength(); // global variable return wobj.getContentStream(); //returns 'is' stream } 200ms is quite expected from a network operation, and i am fine with it. BUT when i parse the inputStream in any way(read it into string/use java XML parser/read it into another ByteArrayStream) the process takes over 1000ms! for example, this code takes 1000ms IF i pass the stream i got('is') above from getContentStream() directly to this method: public static Document convertToXML(InputStream is) throws ParserConfigurationException, IOException, SAXException { DocumentBuilderFactory dbf = DocumentBuilderFactory.newInstance(); DocumentBuilder db = dbf.newDocumentBuilder(); Document doc = db.parse(is); doc.getDocumentElement().normalize(); return doc; } this code too, takes around 920ms IF the initial InputStream 'is' is passed in(dont read into the code itself - it just extracts the data i need by directly counting the characters, which can be done thanks to the rigid api feed format): public static parsedBattlePage convertBattleToXMLWithoutDOM(InputStream is) throws IOException { // Point A BufferedReader br = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(is)); LinkedList ll = new LinkedList(); String str = br.readLine(); while (str != null) { ll.add(str); str = br.readLine(); } if (((String) ll.get(1)).indexOf("error") != -1) { return new parsedBattlePage(null, null, true, -1); } //Point B Iterator it = ll.iterator(); it.next(); it.next(); it.next(); it.next(); String[][] hits_arr = new String[1000][4]; String t_str = (String) it.next(); String tmp = null; int j = 0; for (int i = 0; t_str.indexOf("time") != -1; i++) { hits_arr[i][0] = t_str.substring(12, t_str.length() - 11); tmp = (String) it.next(); hits_arr[i][1] = tmp.substring(14, tmp.length() - 9); tmp = (String) it.next(); hits_arr[i][2] = tmp.substring(15, tmp.length() - 10); tmp = (String) it.next(); hits_arr[i][3] = tmp.substring(18, tmp.length() - 13); it.next(); it.next(); t_str = (String) it.next(); j++; } String[] b_info_arr = new String[9]; int[] space_nums = {13, 10, 13, 11, 11, 12, 5, 10, 13}; for (int i = 0; i < space_nums.length; i++) { tmp = (String) it.next(); b_info_arr[i] = tmp.substring(space_nums[i] + 4, tmp.length() - space_nums[i] - 1); } //Point C return new parsedBattlePage(hits_arr, b_info_arr, false, j); } I have tried replacing the default BufferedReader with BufferedReader br = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(is), 250000); This didnt change much. My second try was to replace the code between A and B with: Iterator it = IOUtils.lineIterator(is, "UTF-8"); Same result, except this time A-B was 0ms, and B-C was 1000ms, so then every call to it.next() must have been consuming some significant time.(IOUtils is from apache-commons-io library). And here is the culprit - the time taken to parse the stream to string, be it by an iterator or BufferedReader in ALL cases was about 1000ms, while the rest of the code took 0ms(e.g. irrelevant). This means that parsing the stream to LinkedList, or iterating over it, for some reason was eating up a lot of my system resources. question was - why? Is it just the way java is made...no...thats just stupid, so I did another experiment. In my main method I added after the getWebPageAsStream(): //Point A ba = new byte[l]; // 'l' comes from wobj.getContentLength above bytesRead = is.read(ba); //'is' is our URLConnection original InputStream offset = bytesRead; while (bytesRead != -1) { bytesRead = is.read(ba, offset - 1, l - offset); offset += bytesRead; } //Point B InputStream is2 = new ByteArrayInputStream(ba); //Now just working with 'is2' - the "copied" stream The InputStream-byte[] conversion took again 1000ms - this is the way many ppl suggested to read an InputStream, and stil it is slow. And guess what - the 2 parser methods above (convertToXML() and convertBattlePagetoXMLWithoutDOM(), when passed 'is2' instead of 'is' took, in all 4 cases, under 50ms to complete. I read a suggestion that the stream waits for connection to close before unblocking, so i tried using HttpComponentsClient 4.0 (http://hc.apache.org/httpcomponents-client/index.html) instead, but the initial InputStream took just as long to parse. e.g. this code: public InputStream getWebPageAsStream2(int battle_id, int page) throws Exception { String url = "http://api.erepublik.com/v1/feeds/battle_logs/" + battle_id + "/" + page; HttpClient httpclient = new DefaultHttpClient(); HttpGet httpget = new HttpGet(url); HttpParams p = new BasicHttpParams(); HttpConnectionParams.setSocketBufferSize(p, 250000); HttpConnectionParams.setStaleCheckingEnabled(p, false); HttpConnectionParams.setConnectionTimeout(p, 5000); httpget.setParams(p); HttpResponse response = httpclient.execute(httpget); HttpEntity entity = response.getEntity(); l = (int) entity.getContentLength(); return entity.getContent(); } took even longer to process(50ms more for just the network) and the stream parsing times remained the same. Obviously it can be instantiated so as to not create HttpClient and properties every time(faster network time), but the stream issue wont be affected by that. So we come to the center problem - why does the initial URLConnection InputStream(or HttpClient InputStream) take so long to process, while any stream of same size and content created locally is orders of magnitude faster? I mean, the initial response is already somewhere in RAM, and I cant see any good reasong why it is processed so slowly compared to when a same stream is just created from a byte[]. Considering I have to parse million of entries and thousands of pages like that, a total processing time of almost 1.5s/page seems WAY WAY too long. Any ideas? P.S. Please ask in any more code is required - the only thing I do after parsing is make a PreparedStatement and put the entries into JavaDB in packs of 1000+, and the perfomance is ok ~ 200ms/1000entries, prb could be optimized with more cache but I didnt look into it much.

  • HttpContext.Current.Request.UserHostName is empty when called from a class

    - by John Galt
    I have various web pages that need to build up a URL to display or place it in an emitted email message. The code I inherited had this value for the name of the webserver in a Public Const in a Public Class called FixedConstants. For example: Public Const cdServerName As String = "WEBSERVERNAME" Trying to improve on this, I wrote this: Public Class UIFunction Public Shared myhttpcontext As HttpContext Public Shared Function cdWebServer() As String Dim s As New StringBuilder("http://") Dim h As String h = String.Empty Try h = Current.Request.ServerVariables("REMOTE_HOST").ToString() Catch ex As Exception Dim m As String m = ex.Message.ToString() 'Ignore this should-not-occur thingy End Try If h = String.Empty Then h = "SomeWebServer" End If s.Append(h) s.Append("/") Return s.ToString() End Function I've tried different things while debugging such as HttpContext.Current.Request.UserHostName and I always get an empty string which pumps out my default string "SomeWebServer". I know Request.UserHostName or Request.ServerVariables("REMOTE_HOST") works when invoked from a page but why does this return empty when invoked from a called method of a class file (i.e. UIFunction.vb)?

  • How can I make a DateTimePicker display an empty string?

    - by brass-kazoo
    I would like to be able to display a DateTimePicker that has a default value of nothing, i.e. no date. For example, I have a start date dtTaskStart and an end date dtTaskEnd for a task, but the end date is not known, and not populated initially. I have specified a custom format of yyyy-MM-dd for both controls. Setting the value to null, or an empty string at runtime causes an error, so how can I accomplish this? I have considered using a checkbox to control the enabling of this field, but there is still the issue of displaying an initial value.. Edit: Arguably a duplicate of the question DateTimePicker Null Value (.NET), but the solution I found for my problem is not a solution for that question, so I think it should remain here for others to find..

  • Java UnknownFormatConversionException

    - by user1672458
    The code below is throwing this error, and I'm not sure why. It's clearly a problem with outputting String.format to the str variable, but I don't know what's wrong with it. Exception in thread "main" java.util.UnknownFormatConversionException: Conversion = 'i' at java.util.Formatter$FormatSpecifier.conversion(Unknown Source) at java.util.Formatter$FormatSpecifier.<init>(Unknown Source) at java.util.Formatter.parse(Unknown Source) at java.util.Formatter.format(Unknown Source) at java.util.Formatter.format(Unknown Source) at java.lang.String.format(Unknown Source) at Donor.toString(Donor.java:41) at Donor.main(Donor.java:65) - import java.util.Scanner; public class Donor { public String name; public int age; public double donation; Donor() { //Initialized to these values for debugging name = "NoName"; age = 0; donation = 0; } Donor(String nameinit, int ageinit, double donationinit) { name = nameinit; age = ageinit; donation = donationinit; } public String toString() { String str = ""; str = String.format("%s-30%i-6$%d-20", name, age, donation); return str; } public static void main(String[] args) { Scanner input = new Scanner(System.in); String nameinit = null; int ageinit = -1; double donationinit = -1; String outp = null; System.out.print("Enter the donor's name: "); nameinit = input.nextLine(); System.out.print("Enter the donor's age: "); ageinit = input.nextInt(); System.out.print("Enter the donation amount: "); donationinit = input.nextDouble(); Donor d = new Donor(nameinit, ageinit, donationinit); outp = d.toString(); System.out.printf("%s30 %s6 %s10", "Name", "Age", "Donation"); System.out.print("\n" + outp); input.close(); } }

  • Create Folders from text file and place dummy file in them using a CustomAction

    - by Birkoff
    I want my msi installer to generate a set of folders in a particular location and put a dummy file in each directory. Currently I have the following CustomActions: <CustomAction Id="SMC_SetPathToCmd" Property="Cmd" Value="[SystemFolder]cmd.exe"/> <CustomAction Id="SMC_GenerateMovieFolders" Property="Cmd" ExeCommand="for /f &quot;tokens=* delims= &quot; %a in ([MBSAMPLECOLLECTIONS]movies.txt) do (echo %a)" /> <CustomAction Id="SMC_CopyDummyMedia" Property="Cmd" ExeCommand="for /f &quot;tokens=* delims= &quot; %a in ([MBSAMPLECOLLECTIONS]movies.txt) do (copy [MBSAMPLECOLLECTIONS]dummy.avi &quot;%a&quot;\&quot;%a&quot;.avi)" /> These are called in the InstallExecuteSequence: <Custom Action="SMC_SetPathToCmd" After="InstallFinalize"/> <Custom Action="SMC_GenerateMovieFolders" After="SMC_SetPathToCmd"/> <Custom Action="SMC_CopyDummyMedia" After="SMC_GenerateMovieFolders"/> The custom actions seem to start, but only a blank command prompt window is shown and the directories are not generated. The files needed for the customaction are copied to the correct directory: <Directory Id="WIX_DIR_COMMON_VIDEO"> <Directory Id="MBSAMPLECOLLECTIONS" Name="MB Sample Collections" /> </Directory> <DirectoryRef Id="MBSAMPLECOLLECTIONS"> <Component Id="SampleCollections" Guid="C481566D-4CA8-4b10-B08D-EF29ACDC10B5" DiskId="1"> <File Id="movies.txt" Name="movies.txt" Source="SampleCollections\movies.txt" Checksum="no" /> <File Id="series.txt" Name="series.txt" Source="SampleCollections\series.txt" Checksum="no" /> <File Id="dummy.avi" Name="dummy.avi" Source="SampleCollections\dummy.avi" Checksum="no" /> </Component> </DirectoryRef> What's wrong with these Custom Actions or is there a simpler way to do this?

  • Saving a record in Authlogic table

    - by denniss
    I am using authlogic to do my authentication. The current model that serves as the authentication model is the user model. I want to add a "belongs to" relationship to user which means that I need a foreign key in the user table. Say the foreign key is called car_id in the user's model. However, for some reason, when I do u = User.find(1) u.car_id = 1 u.save! I get ActiveRecord::RecordInvalid: Validation failed: Password can't be blank My guess is that this has something to do with authlogic. I do not have validation on password on the user's model. This is the migration for the user's table. def self.up create_table :users do |t| t.string :email t.string :first_name t.string :last_name t.string :crypted_password t.string :password_salt t.string :persistence_token t.string :single_access_token t.string :perishable_token t.integer :login_count, :null => false, :default => 0 # optional, see Authlogic::Session::MagicColumns t.integer :failed_login_count, :null => false, :default => 0 # optional, see Authlogic::Session::MagicColumns t.datetime :last_request_at # optional, see Authlogic::Session::MagicColumns t.datetime :current_login_at # optional, see Authlogic::Session::MagicColumns t.datetime :last_login_at # optional, see Authlogic::Session::MagicColumns t.string :current_login_ip # optional, see Authlogic::Session::MagicColumns t.string :last_login_ip # optional, see Authlogic::Session::MagicColumns t.timestamps end end And later I added the car_id column to it. def self.up add_column :users, :user_id, :integer end Is there anyway for me to turn off this validation?
