  • Running nph-script.cgi keeps outputting Server details at the end

    I am running a nph-script.cgi on my server. The server keeps adding HTTP/1.1 200 OK Date: Thu, 05 Nov 2009 02:28:53 GMT Server: Apache/2.2.8 (Ubuntu) PHP/5.2.8-1hardy~ppa1 with Suhosin-Patch mod_perl/2.0.3 Perl/v5.8.8 Content-Length: 0 Keep-Alive: timeout=15, max=100 Connection: Keep-Alive Content-Type: text/plain X-Pad: avoid browser bug At the bottom of each page loaded via the .cgi script. why is this the case? How do I remove this annoying message that is appended to all pages ?

  • Garbled text in Screen [closed]

    The graphical Interface in my system is garbled with some text. At the beginning I thought it was due to java and tomcat that I installed. But after removing java and tomcat, it is still the same. I am using ubuntu server and i have installed xfce desktop environment with oboard softkey I have added my dmesg output to this message. What is the problem here. I am not able to figure it out. Thank you for your help.   • Customize autoindent settings in VIMRC file

    I have autoindent enabled in my .vimrc file but have run into an annoying bug/feature. For example, when I'm tabbed in 3 times, and I hit return, the new line is also tabbed in 3 times. Then when I hit enter again, that new line is also indented 3 times, as it should. The problem occurs when I go back up to the previous line (the first of the 2 new lines). VIM automatically removes the whitespace because it saw it as an empty line. Is there a way to disable this from happening?     Okay, I made a mistake and I'll be the first to admit I'm new at this setup. I built a bare bones kit, installed Ubuntu on it, and attempted to set up a source control server for a project some friend and I were going to work on. Unfortunately, I screwed up. I followed a dodgy tutorial from 2005 and when it didn't work, started mixing and matching trying to get to the source of my problem. So now I sit before you, a broken and miserable man. Desperate to escape this annoying echo of 'Unable to resolve host computer.repositoryname.com', I uninstalled apache and subversion. That did not fix it. Next I tried to edit my /etc/hosts, going so far as to remove the reference to '127.0.1.1 computername'. Still I'm plagued. I know I messed up, is there any way to track down this wayward bug?

  • Text Formatting toolbar continuously disappears in Impress (open office)

    This is a very weird and annoying problem. Not sure if it's a bug or a "feature" I'm using OpenOffice 3.2 (within Ubuntu 10.04). The Text Formatting toolbars disappear in many circumstances, e.g. each time I click out of a writing area. It's becoming very time consuming to go to View-Toolbars-TextFormatting to re-enable it each time. 3 questions: is this expected behavior, and if so, is there any setting where I can change it? (note this wasn't happening in the past with other presentation I made)? is there a workaround, such as defining a shortcut like CTRL-whatever that would make the toolbar appearing without menu joggling? is anybody experiencing this too, especially someone using LibreOffice?

  • Missing characters when printing in linux

    I have a pdf that I was printing recently, and on the final printout there is a single character that doesn't print. It is the greek letter phi, and the pdf was built with pdflatex. The phi shows up in every pdf reader I have tried, and if I convert to a ps using pdftops before printing that solves the problem. Also, I sent the pdf to a buddy who has a very similar machine (Ubuntu 12.04 64 bit, with the same printer drivers), and he was able to print it (to the same printer) and the character showed up. Clearly I have a workaround, but I'm more curious as to where I should be looking to figure out what is causing this bug? What is the printing "toolchain", and where could it be going wrong?

I'm having an issue where a change event is not firing in jQuery 1.4.2, but it did fire successfully in jQuery 1.3.2. This is in IE6. I'm about to submit a bug for this, but for my sanity I wanted to post it here first to see if there's something dumb I'm missing.     When you clone a root Ubuntu disk in VirtualBox, one thing that gets messed up is the network card definition.  This is because Ubuntu (as it should) uses UDEV IDs for the network device.  When you boot your new disk, the network device ID has changed, so it creates a new eth1 device.  Unfortunately, this conflicts with the VirtualBox network setup.  What to do? (10051) SSH Connection via Putty works fine. I checked the my.cnf file on the server (Ubuntu), but settings like bind_address are correct.     My setup is Ubuntu 10.04 on AWS Autossh to create a tunnel for MySQL The tunnel is automatically created using Upstart (/etc/init/autossh.conf): respawn console none start on (local-filesystems and net-device-up IFACE=eth0) stop on [!12345] script #user/IP Address redacted exec autossh -M 20000 -o StrictHostKeyChecking=no -L 3306:127.0.0.1:3306 [email protected] end script On boot the tunnel is created, works great. After some random idle time it dies. Any thoughts on how to keep it alive? I don't know what's killing autossh.
